- It was a beautiful hotel.
- We did not sleep because of a malfunction in the room which could not be repaired.
“The room was beautiful, however my husband and I on our one night out a year without our kids, did not sleep because of a loud clunking noise from the air conditioner, the front desk sent someone up who said it is a known problem and there is nothing to do about it and we should turn on the TV to drown it out. thanks. Not impressed by the Intercontinental Barclay Hotel.”

“We have experienced wonderful stays at this property on previous occasions, but this visit was very disappointing. One of the beds in the first room assigned was sagging extensively on one side. When we went to the desk to ask for assistance, we were moved to the exact same type and located room on a different floor. No apology; no offer for assistance moving luggage; no sorry for the inconvenience. Beds not much better.”

- Larger room than one would expect in Manhattan.
- Too many individual charges for things other hotels provide for free.
“This is a very nice hotel in an excellent part of town (right next to the Waldorf Astoria). The concierge provided excellent recommendations for restaurants in the neighborhood. The only drawback was that the hotel charges for a lot of small amenities that other hotels provide for free (such as making a second pot of coffee in your room).”

- Location and price.
- No pool and overpriced restaurant with mediocre food.
“Location was excellent and close to grand central station. Room was spacious and classy. Concierge desk was helpful and the staff was excellent. The restaurant was not so great. The price of food was expensive and the food was mediocre and not much variety, especially if you are a vegetarian. 3 pancakes were dry and total cost for 2 orders of pancakes was above $50. If you don't plan on eating at the hotel I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is going to the city. The location is a bit from time square, but you can always cab it or take the Subway from grand central which is right around the corner.”

- They gave us a high floor with an excellent view of Brooklyn Bridge.
- Fridge has electronic monitoring device if you remove product you get charged.

- The public spaces were appealing, clean and welcoming.
- The room was small, the carpeting was spotted and dirty and we had to ask for extra Kleenex and glasses for our everyday use.

- Room is small, service is no way closed to 4 stars hotels, I rate them 2 1/2.
“There were 3 people, 2 adult and 1 kid. The hotel is in a pretty good location. The service is bad, actually it is not good at all. We called the hotels for 2 double bed room, but when we checked in the 2 double bed rooms were all sold out. The 1 queen bed room is very small. So need to pay $ extra per night to upgrade our room to a bigger room that have a sofa bed so our child can sleep on. The last day of our stay, a big piece of ceiling paint (3ft X 2ft size) fell on the floor, miss our head by an inch, what if it fell on any one of our head, it will be a disaster. Overall it is not worthed. I give it 2 and half stars, it is no way near 4 stars.”

- I liked the lobby space which was attractive and welcoming.
- The rooms were very dated and not particularly clean. Compared unfavorably to other NYC 4 star hotels.
“I have stayed in almost all of four star hotels in New York. The lobby is wonderful, but the room was extremely dated with old, chipped furniture, a dirty looking rug and crud around the baseboards. Further, the room smelled like it had been recently painted, yet there was no obvious improvement. The wallpaper in the room was also peeling in some places. The bathroom was serviceable and the lighting in the room was dank and dark. The staff was extremely kind, but I can't say that I would ever stay there again because of the quality of the room as compared to other 4 star hotels in NYC.”

- It was a perfect central location, the staff was very helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable.
- The room and bathroom were a little smaller than we are used to, but still very nice.
“I would definitely go back to this hotel again. It was the All Star Game Weekend in NY and the Intercontinental was full of activities and freebies. Hall of Famers were staying there so it must be a great hotel! This hotel is central to a huge variety of NY attractions and areas, and it is easy to catch a cab or take the subway, which is practically outside of the door.”

- The lobby was comfy. No WiFi in room meant more lobby time. That fine. Staff was friendly.
- Room was very noisy. Not all the lights worked bathroom small. No WiFi. The bed sloped badly and got worse. Not a disaster but. It made me thin.

- It look a while for them to deliver extra towels.

“We arrived at the hotel at 10:30. We knew check in was at 3 but figured they'd have a room or two clean to check into. No problem, we'd go eat breakfast and come back an hour later. Still no room. Two hours later I came back and still no room. So I sat in the lobby and watched party after party go to the desk and get room keys. I went up and asked again and was told still no room. I pointed out that these people were just coming in with their luggage and I'd first tried at 10:30 am. The desk person looked quizzical, had no explanation and told me to come back later. Another couple tried and were told there was no room and sat next to me. 15 minutes later they got up and asked again and were given a key. I was told yet again no rooms available. I find this unacceptable. I believe I was being punished. Got into the room and my remote control did not work. I called down to instant service and was told someone would be up immediately. An hour later and still no appearance of anyone. I left to go to dinner, came back and it was still not working. The bathtub drain did not work properly so we were left standing in a large tub of water at the end of our showers. Service is something that could be greatly improved in this hotel. I would most likely not stay here again.”

- Our room was fine. Our traveling companions' bath tub drain did not function after more than one request.

“The staff were okay. They could have been more enthusiastic or friendlier. They did not go out of the way to help you. They just did enough to respond your question or request. Other hotels usually provide you with more information or possible options you may not have considered especially when new (which is what should be assumed) and visiting the area (and staff is usually cheerier and excited that you are in their neck of the woods).”

- Antique furniture, a boutique feels.
- Very small bathroom in room.
“Great value for the price. Very attentive staff and twice daily housekeeping. Very clean and comfortable. The restaurant was excellent but pricey. Some of our best food during our stay was at this hotel. Bathroom was very small, but room made up for it. We were upgraded to a suite due to being Ambassador Club members. The location was perfect being within walking distance to most all of the attractions in New York. The only downfall was traffic noise (horns, sirens, etc.) outside our window, but we figured that this was probably typical for New York. The noise never hindered our sleep late at night, though. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Overall, location, attractiveness and twice daily housekeeping were biggest assets that would keep me coming back.”

- Comfortable bed, good food, central location. Awesome, friendly, helpful staff.
“The service is top notch, as well as the food. One of the most comfortable beds I have ever had in a hotel. Also, the hotels fitness room was being renovated at the time of my visit.”
