“One of the best hotels that I have experienced.” Sep 20, 2006 by

“Hotel was clean, comfortable, friendly - great stay but never ate there due to prices.” Aug 23, 2006 by
mackenzie from plattsburgh,ny
“I stayed at the Waldorf Astoria on a Saturday night. My first impression was it was nice, lots of nice looking people with sweaters hanging around there necks. I got to the room and was disappointed by the appearance, it was nice, but I had stayed at the Hilton New York the night before and wasn't as nice as that room. It was clean, and the beds were comfortable. We took showers before we went out on the town and the shower would not drain and the shower wouldn't stay on unless the water was so hot it burnt your skin. Then we went out and came in late, the staff was great but I felt like they were all waiting for a tip. We wanted to sleep in, not a chance. The noise outside our room, and coming from other rooms was unbelievable. We had housekeeping open our door 4 times without knocking and yelling housekeeping!! The phone rang twice, and the one by the bed didn't work so I had to get up to answer it and no one was there, it had to be the hotel staff because we didn't know anyone else staying in this hotel. I felt as if they were trying to kick us out of our room. We had till 12 noon to be checked out and I didn't plan on checking out any earlier. Oh and the room service. What a joke that was. A very basic breakfast was 72 dollars and it came up cold, and I had to call to have them take it back, because it wasn't worth 72 dollars. Never ever will I stay there again.” 3 of 3 people found this review helpful.Aug 8, 2006 by

“An elegant hotel in a convenient location. Service was excellent and the room was decent size for New York. The hotel is showing its age - elevators were broken, and the plumbing went out one night. Overall a decent value for the money by New York standards. They need to upgrade the hotel infrastructure though.” Aug 2, 2006 by
Kana from Rockville, MD
“We got an absolute price at the Waldorf Astoria and really appreciated the opportunity to stay at such a top hotel, in a mini-suite, at a great price.” Jul 19, 2006 by
Tina from Edgerton, WI
“We went for a "girl's only" weekend last week. It had been our first time in NYC & we were all quite impressed. There is a lot of walking around but it's such a great change from our daily lives. This hotel that we stayed at was quite impressive as well. We weren't expecting much out of our 1 bedroom, king size bed but wow, it was comfortable. We did wish for there to be a fridge & coffee maker in the room however. And we didn't realize we were being charged $1.50 every time we picked up the telephone but other than that, things went pretty well. This is a huge hotel & was packed with people on our stay.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 6, 2006 by

“The Waldorf-Astoria has done a great job of maintaining its reputation for luxury and class. staying at the Waldorf is like taking a trip into the past- interior decor is classic and timeless, but be warned that some of the furnishings (such as the a/c units in the rooms) are also old. overall, I highly recommend a stay at the Waldorf at least once in a lifetime!” Jul 6, 2006 by
Ling from Vancouver, BC CA
“This is my first stay in the hotel and I liked it very much. I will likely to come again if the price is still as good.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 7, 2006 by

“Hotel was beautiful. Staff friendly. Location ideal/upscale. Price is high, but you are definitely paying for the name here and for that it was worth it. We had a great stay in NYC.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 21, 2006 by

“Great place to stay, I was a little disappointed, I thought it would be more over the top.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 19, 2006 by

“What's to say? It's the Waldorf; it's appointed like no other hotel I've ever stayed in. There's a baby grand piano in the reception area and an excellent pianist playing almost any time of day. There's another baby grand in the foyer with the same set up. The staff is the best and most polite you can find anywhere. The only drawback is, it being an older building, the ventilation in my room left a bit to be desired. My room was a bit stuffy at night, and I could not seem to get the A/C to kick on. Had I been planning more than single night stay, I would have inquired about it with the front desk.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 17, 2006 by

“The Waldorf Astoria is the epitome of class and style - they value their guests and everyone is treated with importance & respect. The building itself is breathtaking and brimming with history. The room was gorgeous, complete with a huge marble bath. The lobby and ballrooms were spectacular! We could easily see why the Waldorf has the stellar reputation that it does. It was like going back in time to an era filled with grace and elegance - we truly loved every second of our stay!” 0 of 2 people found this review helpful.May 16, 2006 by

“Hotel was clean, comfortable and majestic though the rooms were fairly small. Great food and service at the restaurant and bars had friendly staff. Check in quick and easy and finally an offer of help with your luggage (by which time you felt you had got it this far through revolving doors and up stairs that you did not need assistance!).” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Apr 9, 2006 by

“Fabulous art deco hotel well restored in excellent location. Staff all highly professional. Facilities were quiet, comfortable and attractive. Only down side was extra charges for workout facility and no coffee machine in room.” 1 of 2 people found this review helpful.Mar 8, 2006 by

“Though the grand lobby is beautiful, I was a bit disappointed with this hotel after you leave the lobby level, comparably priced hotels in area offer more luxurious rooms furniture, size, and linens. The common areas of the floors and the bathrooms in the rooms are quite dated and could use some work. Unfortunately the reality did not quite meet the reputation and as a result. I would be unlikely to stay here again.” 2 of 3 people found this review helpful.Mar 6, 2006 by

“Classic New York hotel with wonderful service, good location. Very attractive decor.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 28, 2006 by

“We were upgraded to a room in the Waldorf Towers at no additional cost. The lobby was beautiful with a fresh floral arrangement as large as a small room! Every door was opened, taxis were hailed for you, everything was excellent. The drinks were pricey in the lounges, but it is one of the finest hotels I have ever seen. It is a very short walk to Fifth Avenue shopping, and short cab rides to other locations. The reception desk was extremely friendly. ” 2 of 3 people found this review helpful.Feb 26, 2006 by

“You would think that it would be a luxuriant experience, however, this is not the case. The fire alarms kept going off at all hours of the day and night. There was no coffee pot in the room. I am now currently battling over a charge to my card after I checked out for Mini-bar services that I did not use. I am truly disappointed in the overall stay. ” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Feb 23, 2006 by

“The hotel management and staff treated us with the utmost respect. All our needs were met or exceeded regarding bed type & smoking room. The hotel was more than elegant and beautiful. I hope I am lucky enough to be able to stay at the Waldorf-Astoria again. It was the best vacation of my life.” 1 of 3 people found this review helpful.Sep 12, 2005 by

“The accomadations were slightly old but still beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Since we were there 8 nights we needed additional hangers and a functioning iron board which took longer to arrive than it should have. The location is perfect and we were delighted with the price. ” 1 of 2 people found this review helpful.Sep 5, 2005 by

“Hotel was very nice. Beautiful lobbies and other public areas. Room was standard, but bathroom and other details not as nice as other 4 and sometimes 3 star hotels. Staff very helpful and polite. View from room was not good. Overall it was nice but I would probably not choose to stay again in a similar room, but I'm glad I got to stay there once. Everything was very clean except some parts of room were older making them not very appealing.” 4 of 4 people found this review helpful.Sep 4, 2005 by

“The location was perfect for our needs and the elegance of the Waldorf was everything we expected it to be. Quiet, serene, wonderful lobbies, little extras such as nightly turn-down service and morning newspapers. The room was beautifully appointed and everything felt so solid. Loved the marble bathroom, the heavy towels and the wonderful bed linens. One of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Thank you for offering the Waldorf.” 3 of 4 people found this review helpful.Sep 3, 2005 by

“great location, great staff. People stuffy, over dressed, and over fussy. Rooms great but a tad small. I wouldn't stay there again in a hurry, hotels like Grand Hyatt, the W are much better in my opinion. If you want to pretend you are a millionaire (unless u are!) well this might be for you. I just wanted to relax, and it wasn't relaxing as there were too many stuffy older clientelle looking down their noses. I'm 41 by the way so that shows the ages of old people. Enjoy it, it's worth one stay at least but not again ...unless i get it for 75 $ lol” 3 of 4 people found this review helpful.Sep 3, 2005 by

“A grand hotel of the victorian age that has lost its glimmer of yesterday. What was once the highest level of service today offers a facade only.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Sep 2, 2005 by

“When we checked in the clerk gave us 1 queen bed instead of the 2 full beds requested. I had specifically called the hotel 48 hrs. prior to arrival to request 2 beds and was assured there was no problem. After arriving at the rm and discovering the mistake, we waited 1/2 hr. for the front desk to call back; they didn't. A bellman arrived with our luggage and he called; first he took us to a 2nd rm that was occupied by another guest; the third room was fine but that was 1.25 hrs. after 'check in.'” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 31, 2005 by

“We very much enjoyed our stay, especially for the rate we received . The hotel was very nice and the staff was very helpful and friendly. However, I would not call it super-luxurious.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 30, 2005 by

“This is a beautiful hotel with a lot of history. The lobby is gorgeous and the beds are awesome, but the hallways and carpet could use some updating.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 30, 2005 by

“Overall, I was very satisfied with the Waldolf=Astoria. They provide excellent service. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. The location of the hotel is convienient. You have access to the subway and great shopping. You can also easily walk to many theaters for shows. I might want a more modern hotel for my next trip to NY, but for this trip, I was very happy to have stayed in a hotel that has a place in history! It was a great experience.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 24, 2005 by

“Lots of hustle and bustle going on in the lobby, but still a very quick check-in. Great restrooms in the lobby. Things are a bit old, but that's part of the hotel, and does not detract from the experience. Everything seemed very clean. Very comfortable beds.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 23, 2005 by

“Staying at the Waldorf was rather like travelling back in time. The staff was courteous, friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious, the linens very comfortable and the beds were restful. I would definitely stay there again!” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 20, 2005 by

“With some renovation this could still be a great hotel. If I paid rack rate I would have been very upset knowing that I could stay at W for near the same price next door. The public bathroom on the main floor is old and grimey, but always had a friendly attendent. Our bathroom door hinges were rusted so bad that the door started to fall off during our stay. The concierge is helpful, but there is always a wait. It's usually faster to go to the information desk for most easy questions instead where there is never a wait. Overall 3.5 out of 5 stars from me.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 20, 2005 by

“The hotel has always been one of my favorites. It has never deteriorated. The only complaiont I have, one that might keep me from going there again, was the check-in. Computers were too slow, staff was too detached, they gave me one awful room which I insisted be changed. Once the check-in was over, the rooms were excellent, location superb, staff helpful, bar well stocked and overall an excellent place to enjoy a NYC experience.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 19, 2005 by

“The Waldorf is famous, of course, but like most expensive hotels, what you're paying for is the fancy lobby; the rooms aren't exceptional, unless you're paying for a suite. In our case, the air-conditioning in our room wasn't working well at all, and it was tough to sleep in the heat. What's more, I asked for a rollaway bed when I checked in and was given one, but they never told me about the $35 charge until I checked out. By then it was too late. Still, it's a great location and very secure.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 18, 2005 by

“I recently went to NYC for the first time and I had such a good time. One the first night there I stayed at a different hotel and was disappointed there. The bathroom at the Waldorf=Astoria was the size of my room at the other hotel. The staff was incredible; everybody was so nice, courteous, and very helpful. The hotel itself was beautiful the view from my room was breathe taking. The location is perfect; it's in the middle of it all. Only two blocks away from 5th Avenue and one block from a subway stop. So on that note, I recommend the Waldorf=Astoria with the highest level of confidence. Have fun!” 1 of 2 people found this review helpful.Aug 14, 2005 by
