“Don't bother unless you like to overpay for location.” May 18, 2008 by
Dan from Kansas City, MO
“This was the best bargain in NYC! We had a decent kitchen, with refrigerator, and a separate sitting room with TV. We had a wonderful week in New York, and part of the reason, we were so happy, was the excellent room we had at Murray Hill, centrally located and comfy.” May 15, 2008 by
Edward S. from Coral Springs, FL
“There was hair on the extra pillow in the closet, I told the staff, nothing was done, hair was still there after the room was made up for the day. very disgusting.” May 9, 2008 by
Rob from Sebastopol, CA
“Overall, a very positive experience. If it had been during a warm spell, not sure if the air conditioning would have been up to the challenge.” May 7, 2008 by
Darin from Orono, MN
“The hotel is located close to several New York attractions. The staff was friendly and customer service was excellent!” May 5, 2008 by
Pam from Whitesboro, NY
“It was a lovely hotel, staff was a bit brusque at first when I requested the room I had booked (2 double beds not a double bed & pull out couch). They told me I had to call them to guarantee the 2 double beds. I was never told to call and didn't think it was necessary but after that one interaction, the staff was as friendly as New Yorkers can be. This hotel was conveniently located to the area of the city that I was visiting.” May 4, 2008 by
Presburger from Paris FR
“Good location convenient for transportation coffee machine plus full kitchen a must for families (2 large beds) I recommend it absolutely.” May 3, 2008 by
Judith from Halifax, PA
“Our check in time was 1:00. Our room was not ready until 3:00. There was no extended check out to compensate. Hard to adjust heat. Could use more restaurant menus in rooms. Elevator got stuck and door would not close, had to walk down 5 floors with luggage to check out.” Apr 29, 2008 by
Bev from Edmonton, AB CA
“I loved staying at the Murray Hill Suites. It was very clean and spacious. The staff was pleasant and helpful. It was not fancy but was a great value and clean and attractive. They were undergoing renovations when we stayed there so I am not sure if it nicer yet. We asked for a quiet room because my mother wasn't used to the city traffic noise and they put us in a top floor suite. From the patio we were able to see the empire state building and the east river. There were two queen beds in the bedroom and a fold out couch so there was plenty of sleeping room. It was great to have full kitchen available so we could enjoy our breakfast in the room. The shower was a bit skittish but this is to be expected in the older buildings. I would highly recommend this to any family or budget traveler!” Apr 26, 2008 by
Rosemary from Ocala, FL
“Is nice and clean, conveniently located close to all the attractions of the city, yet away form the buzz of the city. Loved it. Will definitely book again.” Apr 17, 2008 by
Pamela from Lajolla, CA
“Perfect place for a family that needs an extra separate space for sleeping in the living room. Kitchen was adequate for breakfast for a bunch of us. Friendly service.” Apr 16, 2008 by
Steve from Virginia Beach, VA
“I recommend it for short stays in the city.” Apr 11, 2008 by
Kris from Clifton Park, NY
“My review is that the staff was very nice, but the room and bedding just nasty.” Apr 4, 2008 by
Bryan from Rocklin, CA
“Great location without the noise. This hotel is 2 blocks from Grand Central so getting to anywhere is simple. Murray Hills is not so touristy so cabs and traffic horns are less (great for sleeping). Staff not the friendliest on the planet. Was slight confusion on check-in. Key didn't work so I asked front desk for help. Claimed I was ignorant on working locks. Turned out it was the wrong key. When room got opened, appeared someone (staff) maybe had been napping on the couch since a blanket was out and glass of water on table. They gave us another room with no problems after that. Expect for the fact I reserved a room with 2 queens and got 1 bed instead.” Apr 2, 2008 by
Ashleigh from Reading, PA
“This hotel was an excellent place to stay for what we paid. It was a great location in a nice, quiet neighborhood, within easy walking distance to all of the city's sights. The room was big and comfortable, with a nice bathroom. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.” Mar 31, 2008 by
Su from Iowa City, IA
“Overall, I'm satisfied.” Mar 29, 2008 by
Nina from Amherst, MA
“In general, it is clean and convenient to reach; there is an equipped kitchen so it is great for a family. However, there is no microwave in the room, no dinning hall, neither business center in the hotel. Besides, there is no double beds guaranteed, I even could not get a sofa which can be pulled out. The bedroom is not separated from the sitting room. Everything is traditional in the hotel. However, considering the average level of hotels in NYC. it was a pleasant experience for leisure traveling generally speaking.” Mar 25, 2008 by
Beth from Columbia, SC
“Loved it for the money! I would definitely stay there again.” Mar 22, 2008 by
Gary from Longmont, CO
“Best hotel I have stayed at in NYC. Large room, it had queen sized bed, small dining table, writing table, couch and plenty of closets and chest of drawer space. Ironing board and iron were not shackled, enabling you to use them freely. Had a kitchen, with refrigerator, gas range and cookware and plenty of silverware, including knives and had plates, glasses and cups. Microwave was available by contacting Housekeeping between 8 am and 4 pm. Good location in midtown East. It is closer to 3rd Avenue than Lexington Avenue, though not a big deal as it is only about 50 yards further east. Only four or so blocks from Grand Central Terminal which has bus service to airports and a major stop for many subway lines. The hotel was so good that if it was closer to Central Park, it would have been far more expensive. I rate it the best hotel I have stayed at in NYC (which includes stay at Swank hotel on Central Park South) because of the size of the room, cleanliness, storage space and use of kitchen and a fitness room with weights and cardio machines. Also have delis and a D'Agostino Grocery within a few blocks.” Mar 18, 2008 by
Barb from Nashville, IL
“This a wonderful bargain--probably an apartment building converted to a hotel. That means unusually large rooms for NYC. Furnishings are old but in good condition. Loved the pink sheets!” Mar 17, 2008 by
Meital from New York, NY
“It is clean and nice, great for family with children, have a kitchen in the rooms. Do not go there if you are looking for a romantic place to stay in.” Mar 16, 2008 by
Stephanie from Brookline, MA
“The rooms are huge by NY standards. And each one comes with a kitchenette with utensils. One can literally cook in the room. Although slightly old, it is clean and met my family's needs. There was also free wireless internet access for rooms on the lower floors. What more could one ask for?” Mar 15, 2008 by
Sarah from Redondo Beach, CA
“The Murray Hill East Suite Hotel is a great place to stay for someone who does not need (or want to pay for) all of the Ritz of a hotel in the city. It's located very close to a main hub for the subway, train, and bus system. Plus, it's within walking distance of Les Halles--a restaurant worthy of patronage for all three of your daily meals. Perfect for those travelers who only use their hotel rooms as a place to sleep and wash up.” Mar 15, 2008 by
Eric from Erie, PA
“I've stayed here before and love the space you can get for the price. However, the beds are never great and this time my bed was so soft and lumpy, completely lacking in support, that it was really uncomfortable.” Mar 13, 2008 by
Matt from Portersville, PA
“Great location and great value for Manhattan. 4 blocks from Grand Central Station needs updated though. When we arrived the maids were in our room chatting and we found a package of pads behind the curtain. Overall a good experience.” Mar 13, 2008 by
Colleen from Westborough, MA
“The hotel was very clean - we were given an upgrade upon check in - staff was helpful & friendly. Room was nice, clean and we had a king size bed. There is basic television - no cable or movies, no DVD or VCR and no internet service. But for a place to make home base for a sightseeing vacation it was perfect. Good value for the money.” Mar 12, 2008 by
Jeff from Cypress, TX
“The hotel is very dated. You get a lot of space for the price but everything is very old. No internet access in the rooms. Depending on what staff member you talked to you got great service to being ignored.” Mar 12, 2008 by
Kay from Greensboro, NC
“We liked this hotel and would be happy to stay there again. The room was very comfortable, clean, and quite spacious. Be aware of transportation advice (cars, cabs) from the front desk staff, though. The hallway on the fourth floor had an unpleasant smell. The front desk person insisted that the taxi to LaGuardia was flat rate at $45.00 and tip and he insisted on ordering a private car for us at that rate. He told us that it would be difficult to get a taxi. We checked and taxis were on the meter ( $25 and tip) we were easily able to find one 1/2 block from the hotel.” Mar 12, 2008 by
John from Grafton, MA
“Excellent location, affordable parking a block away, comfortable and spacious accommodations, great shower hot water and pressure, personable and professional cleaning staff. All this for a great low price!” Mar 9, 2008 by
Carl B. from Endwell, NY
“We will stay here again. The cleanliness and quiet were excellent. Lots more room than the typical NYC hotel rooms.” Mar 8, 2008 by
Courtney from Santa Fe, TX
“Great location, clean hotel, friendly staff, great experience.” Mar 5, 2008 by
Andrew from Alameda, CA
“The Murray Hill Suites East hotel is conveniently located just four blocks from Grand Central Terminal in the quiet, underappreciated Murray Hill neighborhood on Manhattan's east side. The suite was enormous, bigger than many one-bedroom New York apartments, and the kitchen was a nice plus, though I only used the refrigerator and a sharp knife. The TV reception, though apparently cable, was abysmal, particularly on channel 4 (WNBC), but the bed was reasonably comfortable (a tiny bit harder than I like), the neighborhood was unusually quiet at night, and overall the hotel was an excellent value for the money. However, the sixth-floor hallway was dingy and poorly lit, and the elevator was old-fashioned. Overall, it reminded me of how middle-class New Yorkers lived in the 1970s before they were all driven out of town by greedy yuppies, so I got a warm, nostalgic feeling that was very nice. I will definitely look forward to staying here again.” Feb 27, 2008 by
Rich from South Charleston, WV
“It's a gem located within short walking distance of NYU Cancer Center, Grand Central, the Chrysler building and dozens of great restaurants and cafes. It also is within a reasonable walking distance to Times Square, Central Park, and other Manhattan landmarks. It is a lovely old-fashioned hotel with great sunlight filled rooms.” Feb 25, 2008 by
Michael from Huntington, NY
“This was an excellent location for someone who want to see and tour Manhattan.” Feb 23, 2008 by
Allison from Ridgefield, CT
“For the price, this was a nice hotel. Very big suite, and very clean. Also a great location. However, the furniture was very outdated and needed an update. Also there was no thermostat in the room that we could find and it was a bit cold.” Feb 22, 2008 by
Rob from Cohasset, MA
“The hotel is on a quiet block in Midtown, three blocks from Grand Central. We had a one bedroom suite that comfortably slept a family of five. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and the price was excellent.” Feb 21, 2008 by
Gregg from Chicago, IL
“Fine 2 star in a great location. Large room, which is considerably different from most NYC hotel rooms.” Feb 21, 2008 by
Daniel from Davis, CA
“Great location. Very friendly. Best 2 star place I have ever been. I was expecting something dirty and unsafe but I was very pleaded upon arriving.” Feb 20, 2008 by
Cheryl from Glastonbury, CT
“Great price and location. It can't be beat for a weekend away sightseeing in New York, when you just need a place to stay.” Feb 20, 2008 by
Jack from Campbell, CA
“The room was bigger than I had expected. It was quite spacious for me and my girlfriend. There were chairs and a mini-fridge/ kitchen area that was nice to have snacks. There was no microwave, but there was an oven with utensils and plates. There is a door man for most of the day and the staff is friendly and courteous. The rooms still use keys, so bring a keychain. All in all I would say it was a good hotel for a good price.” Feb 20, 2008 by
Dan from Salem, MA
“The rooms are large and clean, although would not suit travelers looking to connect with technology and the location was good.” Feb 20, 2008 by
Matt from Cannon Falls, MN
“Do not go to Sam's Italian restaurant across the street from the hotel. There is a Sushi/Martini bar down towards the east river just two blocks that is great if you are not planning on going to times square.” Feb 20, 2008 by
Kathy from Aurora, CO
“We were very pleased. A great hotel for both location and room quality.” Feb 18, 2008 by
Mary from Tampa, FL
“The room was huge, the bed was comfortable, and the location could not be beat. Amazing value for the price - made my trip very comfortable.” Feb 17, 2008 by
David from Harlingen, TX
“The best hotel I have stayed in New York City for the money. It had every amenity I was needing and the fully equipped kitchen was the best thing of all.” Feb 16, 2008 by
Patricia from Tiburon, CA
“Our rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff at the desk is helpful and friendly. Good neighborhood with grocery store and lots of places to get a bite to eat.” Feb 13, 2008 by
Colleen from Covington, GA
“This place was very convenient for a business or leisure traveler. We were within about 10 blocks of the main strip in Manhattan and very close to the Empire State Building. Not too many eateries close by but I recommend The Black Sheep (dinner/drinks) and Frontier (breakfast). It was what I expected, not super up to date, but it gave us a spacious place to stay and the bed was comfortable.” Feb 10, 2008 by
Shoshanna from Savannah, GA
“The hotel was outdated but very clean. The rooms were large and it had a kitchen, everything except a microwave. The staff was friendly but never went out of their way to say hello. There was a small grocery store just around the corner which was really nice. The location is perfect- close to Grand Central and within walking distance to Times Square and Rockefeller Center. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, but I would bring my own pillows as theirs were as flat as pancakes.” Feb 9, 2008 by
Xie from Bethesda, MD
“Good for a short stay.” Feb 8, 2008 by
Eric from Erie, PA
“Great location and lots of space. Outdated furnishings and decor. Small TV. Overall, good value.” Hotel Representatives:
