“Good location, but I had to leave the room to change my mind.” Aug 9, 2009 by
AAN from Creve Coeur,MO
“Just hopeless, too much compact, crunched and congested rooms that one can't move comfortable in a room. I had a very bad experience - light in my room went off for 10 minutes. I was told that since there was fridge and AC running simultaneously , it tripped off, there was no hot water coming in the bath tub, front desk sent the engineer after an hour.” Jul 18, 2009 by
Dennis from Wichita,KS
“T elevator cut off 30 - 35 % of the room and divided the room in half with a small opening between the two ections of the room. Picture two small boxes connected on two corners with a two foot walkway between them and the space not available is the elevator. I asked if there was something else available and got a no. Not true, just did not want to bother. Breakfast was fine and location was excellent; it was just a shabby hotel in a nice area that I would not stay in again. To be nice, the bathroom was clean, but tiny.” May 22, 2009 by
Kevin from Charleston,WV
“Small rooms, but a great location at a great price for NYC.” May 12, 2009 by
Gina from New York,NY “I was first given a room where the TV doesn't work, then I changed into a new one (I was asked to pack all my luggage, and took them to the check in desk, and then took everything to the new room! the staff was very indifferent, and unwilling to help), but the new room was even worse. The staff told me nothing he can do, and asked me to talk to the manager next morning if there's anything to complain. Unwilling to do that all over again, I didn't. It is justifiable to be the worst hotel I have ever experienced in the United States!” Apr 28, 2009 by
Jeremy from Buffalo,NY
“The room and bathroom were uncomfortably tiny. I would not stay here again.” Feb 15, 2009 by
Maria from Burtonsville,MD
“Our room was next to the elevator and an access door which felt like we were in the utility room with the constant noise of the elevator the slamming door and the water pipes.” Nov 1, 2008 by
Jake
“I had a short stay at the Comfort Inn Central Park West. The room was inexpensive and the location was great. A nice, safe area, with lots of small restaurants and shops nearby, it was only a short walk to Lincoln Center. The staff was pleasant and accommodating with me and with all the interactions with other guests that I witnessed. My room was small, but it was clean. The linens were nice with extra pillows. Like most Comfort Inns they offer a free breakfast, a convenience if you don't want to walk a block to find real food. I even found a place on the street to park my car. I'm going back.

“Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff makes this an excellent choice if you're on a budget. The room was quiet and spacious enough. The A/C was quiet and efficient, the hotel was quiet throughout (no noisy neighbors or corridors), the entire hotel was clean in the common areas as well as the room and the free breakfast was a nice extra. Only nits: the bed was too saggy (I have a bad back and require firmness), the bathtub drain was slow (but easily fixable) and at the free breakfast the cereal ran out at the mid-point of its open hours. Other than that, a great stay. I'd recommend this hotel to anybody.” Aug 31, 2008 by
Dan from Sacramento, CA
“This room was extremely small! When I sat on the end of the bed, my feet were in the bathroom. The AC unit was old and smelled when I ran it. The bed sagged & the elevator took forever to reach the higher floors.” Aug 25, 2008 by
Ruth from Washington, DC
“Great location, very close to the Subway and upper west-side restaurants/nightlife. The room was small, but clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was friendly and even let me check-in earlier than the usual time. I would definitely stay here again.” Aug 4, 2008 by
Stacy from Montgomery Village, MD
“Ideally located between Central Park and 72nd Street subway station.” Aug 4, 2008 by
Cesar from Bell Gardens, CA
“The hotel was not what according to the price. Very small that a tall or a big individual can not be accommodated. Future lawsuits will occur if they do not model the old hotel. No space at all.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Christopher from San Francisco, CA
“Well located on the Upper West Side close to CP, the Museum of Natural History and many restaurants. Small, clean, hotel with helpful staff. Ensure you get a room facing outward, otherwise your room will small and dark.” Jul 29, 2008 by
Kelly from Marietta, GA
“The location was perfect. Beautiful west end location at Central Park and within walking distance to Lincoln Center. The room was tiny, but the bed was very comfortable. When we arrived we found our room to be accommodating, with a king size bed and a new HDTV--however, the TV was not working and the hotel had to find another room for us. They put us in a smaller room with a queen size bed and a semi-private bath (with see-through glass). Except I was traveling with my mother in law and not quite the ideal setting. This room had an old TV, but good reception, so we were fine with this. It was quiet and restful. I would stay at this hotel again.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Aubrey from Ashland, MA
“This low-priced hotel is just a 1-minute walk away from Central Park, and the Subway is right around the corner. But on the negative side, our room was shabby and very small (the bed took up 80% of the room easily). Most of the electric outlets were not functional. The bathroom was miniscule; the toilet was practically under the sink. We took a cruise in March and that bathroom was positively spacious in comparison. The lobby was tiny and dirty, and used to store hotel supplies in stacks of boxes. There is a small continental breakfast room with around 5 tables. But there is nowhere you can hang out or relax - no bar or usable lobby, etc. This hotel is purely a cheap, affordable place to sleep at night, and nothing more. When you wake up in the morning, just leave and spend the day somewhere else. Come back only when you're ready to go straight to bed.” Jul 26, 2008 by
Sarah from Cicero, NY
“Small room, inadequate aircon, smelly toilet that overflowed.” Jul 24, 2008 by
Andrea from Sacramento, CA
“Ongoing constructions on the outside prevented seeing much out of the windows, but you do not want to stay inside - that close to Central Park, anyhow. Great location. Only: try to avoid the private taxi service.” Jul 20, 2008 by
Mario from Las Vegas, NV
“The hotel is very clean and have comfortable bed with nice plasma TV have a good reception. The rooms are very small but still good for the price and most important great location right next to the grand central park.” Jul 18, 2008 by
Fran from Phoenix, AZ
“The room had a broken blind. The elevator was small and very slow.” Jul 14, 2008 by
Denise from Norwalk, CT
“I had no idea they'd be as small as they were. This was some converted apartment building but I think they made have condensed the rooms. There was barely room enough for one person to turn around in, let alone four (and I'm only 5'3" tall!).” Jul 12, 2008 by
Dan from Akron, OH
“Great location near Central park, rooms were small, but clean, a friendly staff, small breakfast area, but overall if looking for a clean reasonably priced room near Central Park at W. 71 this is it. Elevator is slow.” Jul 12, 2008 by
Claire from Yardley, PA
“I wanted something convenient, clean and comfortable at low cost. This was just fine.” Jul 10, 2008 by
Dan from Randolph, MA
“Great location, small rooms, pleasant staff. Perfect for the budget traveler who wants prime location right in the heart of Central Park West!” Jul 9, 2008 by
Jordi from Newport, RI
“Good location in the heart oh Manhattan.” Jul 3, 2008 by
Sandy from Pace, FL
“If you don't mind a window air conditioner (I do), and cramped room (I do), and you're willing to pay a premium for a room with no amenities, then this is the place to stay.” Jul 2, 2008 by
Lucy from Cary, IN
“Good location for the upper west side. I will stay there again.” Jul 2, 2008 by
Jennifer from Altamonte Springs, FL
“If you are going to experience NYC, just need a place to sleep, shower and leave your luggage, this is a great place to stay for the price! It is located on the West side of central park in a great neighborhood and well worth the value!” Jun 30, 2008 by
Gwenn from Bethlehem, PA
“Two people could not move in the room at the same time. Shower was very cold water, toilet didn't flush, almost over flowed, common areas were very hot, why take a shower, you were covered in sweat before you could leave the hotel. We checked out of room and wanted to check bag until later in the day, and the guy at the desk asked for a tip before he even had possession of my bag, I felt obligated to tip, so he wouldn't go through my bag. Elevator was super slow.” Jun 30, 2008 by
Lisa from Reading, MA
“This hotel is on a pretty, quiet location (near Central Park). It is very convenient to subway, taxis and the museum of natural history, etc. Our room was very small, but comfortable. The bathroom sink was tiny and the shower would suddenly get hot. Also the window looks out onto a brick wall, so it was very dark in the morning! The air conditioner worked well, but it was noisy. The free continental breakfast was very good (something for everyone) and helps when you're on a budget. One should expect quirks, noise and tiny rooms in a small, old Manhattan hotel such as this.” Jun 15, 2008 by
Dan from New York, NY
“This is a fine place for two to stay if you don't plan to spend more than twenty or thirty minutes daily in the room awake.” Jun 9, 2008 by
Robert from Ponte Vedra, FL
“Great location. One small elevator that takes too long to get up and down. Rooms not very clean. Bathroom was not clean.” May 31, 2008 by
Miguel from Lexington, KY
“The hotel was fine, but the room was very small. I'm very tall and it was difficult for me to move around the closet, I mean the room; or was that a closet with a bathroom. The location was awesome 1/2 from central park and a block from several Subway stations. I will stay again, but only if I'm by myself.” May 29, 2008 by
Vince from Washington, DC
“The staff did not have much interest in its customers, and the rooms are tiny and modest, but the location in a tranquil yet highly accessible neighborhood, steps from Central Park, more than compensate.” May 28, 2008 by
Jan from Portland, ME
“Small rooms but comfortable for short stay with nice TV and AC. clean, nice staff, great quiet location. Only 1 elevator so stay on lower floors so you can at least walk down.” May 25, 2008 by
D from Nevada, IA
“We really enjoyed the continental breakfast and the hotel was clean. The rooms were very small which is to be expected; the neighborhood was nice. Although, we saw in a bug in our room and when we got up to kill it, we no longer could find it. So we called the front desk asking for assistance, they couldn't find the bug, which isn't surprising because they only looked under the TV and in the general area where we found the bug; apparently bugs don't move. Then, we were told that there are no bugs, they have never heard of bugs being in the hotel, and that it must have been an illusion. I found this to be very insulting and those particular staffers were unprofessional and unfriendly. We didn't think the hotel had a bug problem, it probably came in from the bedroom window that they leave open for ventilation. We just wanted to be rid of the bug but, otherwise, it was okay.” May 22, 2008 by
Jenn from Concord, CA
“This hotel is small & quaint. 1/2 block from Central Park & 1.5 blocks from subway. Great continental breakfast. Small rooms but great value for the active traveler who doesn't like sitting in the room anyway. Walking distance to nice little neighborhood restaurants, cafes, cleaners & shops. Mom and I had an excellent time!” May 20, 2008 by
David from New York, NY
“Comfort Inns are generally nice comfortable hotels. This hotel was a converted apartment building that has very small hotel rooms and a very slow elevator. A very small fitness room and breakfast room that was complimentary. But overall, the location of the hotel makes it worth investigating but it was a bit pricey.” May 18, 2008 by
Debbie from Bloomington, IN
“Small, no amenities at all. Very Spartan. Clean though. Hotel employees very disinterested. I guess for the price in that area, you can't expect much more.” May 16, 2008 by
Oliver from San Diego, CA
“A very crammed hotel space, dark color rooms and bulky furnitures. But convenient centrally located within the upper part of NY Manhattan, it is a plus.” May 12, 2008 by
Michelle from Phx, AZ
“I understand space is hard in NY, but I cannot believe the amount of money this hotel charges to stay in such a tiny, room. Very uncomfortable, would never stay here again. Towels were cheap and old, yuck!” Aug 19, 2006 by
Lynn from Willington, CT
“We spent one night at this hotel - after viewing several negative ratings we were a little nervous about staying here - were we surprised! Staff was extremely pleasant and helpful, room was perfect - small, but all rooms are small in NYC - bathroom was clean - and room was quiet!! Great complimentary breakfast and great late noon check-out - we loved this place and will stay here every time we go to NYC. ” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Apr 17, 2006 by

“Terrible! Rooms dirty, small & smoky. Stayed on 14th floor elevator broke, showed up at 9:30 for breakfast that ended at 10 only to be told sorry no food come back tomorrow & come earlier. Staff was rude.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Nov 15, 2005 by

“Paying solely for location, hotel is drab and somewhat run-down, staff mixed bag of surly and disinterested.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Nov 10, 2005 by

“This hotel is a tiny, grungy, depressing room with nasty carpet, just all around disappointing. The carpet in the bathroom was wet from the previous guest's shower. The only "good" thing about this hotel is its location - one block off Central Park West and two blocks to the subway. Highly disappointing experience and I would absolutely never stay here again.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 21, 2005 by

“The location of this hotel cannot be beat. It is close to Central Park and Columbus Avenue and is a prime area. The room was clean, if tiny and the hotel easy to navigate, although the single elevator is in an awkward location and hard to mount with a large suitcase. The front desk staff never said hello to me. I always made a point of greeting them and usually received a muffled mutter in reply. My major complaint about the hotel was that there seemed to be little helpfulness or effort at friendliness by the front desk staff. The maids however were very friendly.” Oct 9, 2005 by
Jr from Pittsburgh, PA
“Comfort inn is in a good location on the upper w. side, accessible to restaurants, subway, etc. clean room, nothing fancy, small room but fine for one person.” Sep 18, 2005 by
Stew from Lighthouse Point, FL
“I would never recommend this property. Even with proper refurbishing, it would not meet the standard of decent. The rooms are like large closets, and the noise level in the morning was unbearable. There was no desk to work at, because the room was too small to accommodate one.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 31, 2005 by

“Terrific value and location. If you are going to New York for Lincoln Center, Broadway or Central Park and not to sit in a first rate hotel room, this is a good hotel choice for you. Clean but very small. Has a European feel to it.”
