“This hotel is on a pretty, quiet location (near Central Park). It is very convenient to subway, taxis and the museum of natural history, etc. Our room was very small, but comfortable. The bathroom sink was tiny and the shower would suddenly get hot. Also the window looks out onto a brick wall, so it was very dark in the morning! The air conditioner worked well, but it was noisy. The free continental breakfast was very good (something for everyone) and helps when you're on a budget. One should expect quirks, noise and tiny rooms in a small, old Manhattan hotel such as this.” Jun 15, 2008 by
Dan from New York, NY
“This is a fine place for two to stay if you don't plan to spend more than twenty or thirty minutes daily in the room awake.” Jun 9, 2008 by
Robert from Ponte Vedra, FL
“Great location. One small elevator that takes too long to get up and down. Rooms not very clean. Bathroom was not clean.” May 31, 2008 by
Miguel from Lexington, KY
“The hotel was fine, but the room was very small. I'm very tall and it was difficult for me to move around the closet, I mean the room; or was that a closet with a bathroom. The location was awesome 1/2 from central park and a block from several Subway stations. I will stay again, but only if I'm by myself.” May 29, 2008 by
Vince from Washington, DC
“The staff did not have much interest in its customers, and the rooms are tiny and modest, but the location in a tranquil yet highly accessible neighborhood, steps from Central Park, more than compensate.” May 28, 2008 by
Jan from Portland, ME
“Small rooms but comfortable for short stay with nice TV and AC. clean, nice staff, great quiet location. Only 1 elevator so stay on lower floors so you can at least walk down.” May 25, 2008 by
D from Nevada, IA
“We really enjoyed the continental breakfast and the hotel was clean. The rooms were very small which is to be expected; the neighborhood was nice. Although, we saw in a bug in our room and when we got up to kill it, we no longer could find it. So we called the front desk asking for assistance, they couldn't find the bug, which isn't surprising because they only looked under the TV and in the general area where we found the bug; apparently bugs don't move. Then, we were told that there are no bugs, they have never heard of bugs being in the hotel, and that it must have been an illusion. I found this to be very insulting and those particular staffers were unprofessional and unfriendly. We didn't think the hotel had a bug problem, it probably came in from the bedroom window that they leave open for ventilation. We just wanted to be rid of the bug but, otherwise, it was okay.” May 22, 2008 by
Jenn from Concord, CA
“This hotel is small & quaint. 1/2 block from Central Park & 1.5 blocks from subway. Great continental breakfast. Small rooms but great value for the active traveler who doesn't like sitting in the room anyway. Walking distance to nice little neighborhood restaurants, cafes, cleaners & shops. Mom and I had an excellent time!” May 20, 2008 by
David from New York, NY
“Comfort Inns are generally nice comfortable hotels. This hotel was a converted apartment building that has very small hotel rooms and a very slow elevator. A very small fitness room and breakfast room that was complimentary. But overall, the location of the hotel makes it worth investigating but it was a bit pricey.” May 18, 2008 by
Debbie from Bloomington, IN
“Small, no amenities at all. Very Spartan. Clean though. Hotel employees very disinterested. I guess for the price in that area, you can't expect much more.” May 16, 2008 by
Oliver from San Diego, CA
“A very crammed hotel space, dark color rooms and bulky furnitures. But convenient centrally located within the upper part of NY Manhattan, it is a plus.” May 12, 2008 by
Michelle from Phx, AZ
“I understand space is hard in NY, but I cannot believe the amount of money this hotel charges to stay in such a tiny, room. Very uncomfortable, would never stay here again. Towels were cheap and old, yuck!” Aug 19, 2006 by
Lynn from Willington, CT
“We spent one night at this hotel - after viewing several negative ratings we were a little nervous about staying here - were we surprised! Staff was extremely pleasant and helpful, room was perfect - small, but all rooms are small in NYC - bathroom was clean - and room was quiet!! Great complimentary breakfast and great late noon check-out - we loved this place and will stay here every time we go to NYC. ” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Apr 17, 2006 by

“Terrible! Rooms dirty, small & smoky. Stayed on 14th floor elevator broke, showed up at 9:30 for breakfast that ended at 10 only to be told sorry no food come back tomorrow & come earlier. Staff was rude.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Nov 15, 2005 by

“Paying solely for location, hotel is drab and somewhat run-down, staff mixed bag of surly and disinterested.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Nov 10, 2005 by

“This hotel is a tiny, grungy, depressing room with nasty carpet, just all around disappointing. The carpet in the bathroom was wet from the previous guest's shower. The only "good" thing about this hotel is its location - one block off Central Park West and two blocks to the subway. Highly disappointing experience and I would absolutely never stay here again.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 21, 2005 by

“The location of this hotel cannot be beat. It is close to Central Park and Columbus Avenue and is a prime area. The room was clean, if tiny and the hotel easy to navigate, although the single elevator is in an awkward location and hard to mount with a large suitcase. The front desk staff never said hello to me. I always made a point of greeting them and usually received a muffled mutter in reply. My major complaint about the hotel was that there seemed to be little helpfulness or effort at friendliness by the front desk staff. The maids however were very friendly.” Oct 9, 2005 by

“Comfort inn is in a good location on the upper w. side, accessible to restaurants, subway, etc. clean room, nothing fancy, small room but fine for one person.” Sep 18, 2005 by
Stew from Lighthouse Point, FL
“I would never recommend this property. Even with proper refurbishing, it would not meet the standard of decent. The rooms are like large closets, and the noise level in the morning was unbearable. There was no desk to work at, because the room was too small to accommodate one.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 31, 2005 by

“Terrific value and location. If you are going to New York for Lincoln Center, Broadway or Central Park and not to sit in a first rate hotel room, this is a good hotel choice for you. Clean but very small. Has a European feel to it.” Aug 30, 2005 by
Yp from Durango, CO
“VERY small room, with NO view from the window but clean and tidy. Location is so-so - close to central park and subway.” Aug 27, 2005 by
Jim from Chicopee, MA
“this is a basic hotel.good for 1 night stay only” Aug 21, 2005 by
Rachel from Burke, VA
“If you are simply looking for a bed to sleep in in NYC, this is the hotel for you. The hotel was described as "charming" but that simply means "made for very small people." The small hallways were modern-looking, but the rooms were tiny and old. The walls in the rooms were stained and the bedding was so old, the sheets were see-through. I could barely fit my luggage in the elevator. The staff was helpful, friendly and saved the whole experience. They offered a free breakfast, which was also nice. The neighborhood seemed safe. I would consider this a one-star hotel though.” Jul 31, 2005 by
Joanna from Evanston, IL
“I got a great price. This hotel is very close to the most beautiful parts of Central Park. The staff is friendly. The rooms are very small, but most guests understand that this is the reality of New York City.” Jul 1, 2005 by
Richard from Coraopolis, PA
“the bathroom was very small and the fixtures seemed to be old” Jun 30, 2005 by
Julie from Calais, VT
“I wasn't happy with it.” Jun 29, 2005 by

“If you want to feel like you're staying in a real neighborhood after wandering the crowded streets of Manhattan all day, this is the perfect place!” Jun 26, 2005 by
Wayne from Martinez, CA
“Would NOT recommend this hotel, the room was dirty and small. The free continental breakfast was pathetic, for example there was bagels but no cream cheese. They were very stingy and only put out a couple of items! Paid a lot for this room and did not get what I was expecting.” Jun 19, 2005 by
Pamela from Cheektowaga, NY
“Dresser drawers falling apart, teeny tiny bathroom, continental breakfast was disgusting, very loud air conditioner, room not very clean. left note for maid for addt'l towels, not received. I will never again stay in a comfort inn.” Jun 10, 2005 by
Steve from Austin, TX
“I had read other reviews on this hotel so I knew exactly what I was getting. The rooms are smaller than the average NYC hotel room and need some updating but we didn't spend a lot of time there anyway. The carpet and furniture is old and worn and the walls need some paint, but as a veteran NYC visitor it was expected for the price I paid. The location is perfect for people who like to stay away from the hoards of tourists and see the real NYC but still be close enough to the action to walk or take a quick subway ride. All in all we were not disappointed and had a very nice stay.” Jun 1, 2005 by
Brian from Roselle, IL
“This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The rooms were the smallest I have ever seen. The furniture in the room and lobby were crappy. I paid around $185 for the night I was there and would never stay at the hotel again as I was so disappointed. ” May 31, 2005 by
Stephanie from Seattle, WA
“Clean small room. Private (small) bathroom. Good water pressure, hot water. Great location. Quiet nice neighborhood. Computer in lobby for $.20/min. Charge for in room safe. Would definitely stay there again.” May 22, 2005 by
Christine from Mesa, AZ
“Neat, clean, convenient. I was shocked at the small size of the room for the price. I don't feel that it was a bargain for the size.” May 16, 2005 by
Linda from Beverly Hills, CA
“If you want to be by the park but don't care if you're in a tiny, awful hotel, this is the place for you!” Apr 21, 2005 by
Karen from Rochester, NY
“I felt really stung"...the room I slept in was AWFUL. It smelled of smoke & the windows could not be opened. There was less than 16" from the bed to the closet and one wall touched the bed. No place to put luggage because no floor space...I felt I was experiencing the entrepreneurial skills of a slumlord."” Apr 19, 2005 by
Eliazbeth from Chicago, IL
“I booked this Hotel the night before. I was grateful to get a room and nicely surprised how great it was. Very convenient location. My room was ready when I arrived. It was very easy and made my trip more enjoyable. I would stay again at the Comfort Inn.” Apr 11, 2005 by
Steve from Portland, OR
“Modestly priced, located conveniently, recommended for family stays or quick on the town visits.” Apr 2, 2005 by
Maria from Des Plaines, IL
“I would definitely return to this hotel on my next visit to NYC if I could find a similar price for the room. The location and hotel accomodations are great.” Oct 13, 2004 by
“The hotel room was the smallest I've ever seen. The bathroom was so tiny that you had to step into the shower to dress or undress. You could brush your teeth while sitting on the commode. It was clean, however, and sufficient if you were not spending any amount of time in the room.” Sep 17, 2004 by
“I understand that NY hotel rooms are small, I have been in many. However, the size of this hotel room was exceedingly small. The walls were dingy, carpet dirty, and ceilings stained with brown water stains, and to top it off the A/C didn't work!” Hotel Representatives:
