• The shower water was not hot.

“The hotel was nice, the room was small. unfortunately the hot water was cold the first night I tried to shower, then on next two days the water was Tepid.”

• The location was perfect for anyone traveling to NY.
• The bathrooms need a little upgrade.

“I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to experience all that NY has to offer and does not want to pay typical NY hotel prices. The location to Central Park as well as Fifth Ave shopping and attractions is great.”

• In comparison to other NYC hotel rooms our room was pretty big. The Hotel staff was really nice.
• Our neighbors how packed in what sounded like 8 people in one room and woke us up at 4 am every night we were there.

“The hotel's location was great and only a short walk from the subway. The staff was really friendly and accommodating. I had a great experience for the exception of the neighbors.”

• Location is great and room is comfortable, also decoration and furniture are up-to-date.
• Once been stopped by a night guard asking (rudely) for room key.

“A great hotel in Midtown West area. Close to everything. Staff is courteous and efficient. Our non-smoking room smelled cigarette. Talked to front desk and got to move to a king-size bed room promptly. Great service. Will definitely come back.”

“Great location, close to times square, Rockefeller center, the subway. Safe neighborhood. Rooms were small but very nicely decorated and the beds were comfortable. The parking was extremely expensive though.”

• The room was large, modern and clean with a spa-like bathroom.
• The wait to check-in was very long, and there was no pool.

“I wish I had more time to spend at the Hilton NY! It was a beautiful hotel with a luxurious flair and great amenities. I really wish there had been a pool, but the exercise facilities were very nice and the room was relaxing, roomy, and comfortable.”

• It was in a great location, the staff was very helpful and friendly and the food was great.
• The phone in our room was broken other then that it was a perfect one night stay.

“It was a cold and rainy night. All of the elk had gone home for acorns. None of the foxes could get the corkscrews to work. Henry was not happy.”

• Large rooms, especially for Manhattan.
• Not the best location, long check-in lines.

“The New York Hilton was a comfortable hotel to stay at, with large rooms that provided respite from long days of walking. Some of the finer amenities were missing, and the service was not too personable, but at least they were not rude.”

• I think 4 stars was a bit strong, 3.5 star would be accurate.

• Wonderful friendly staff, good location close to Times Square and Broadway.
• Small rooms, amenities like the gym are additional fees, could have gotten the same for less money.

“The New York Hilton is not a bad hotel. The staff was friendly and very responsive. Requests for extra pillows and to change a light bulb were responded to promptly. However, the extra charges for the fitness center and the outrageous prices on room service, the in hotel restaurant and the pay per view movies were a big turn off. With as much as we paid just for the room, surely the Hilton could be more reasonable on some of the amenities.”

• The room was pleasant and location convenient.
• Two lamps in room were burnt out. Notes from previous tenant were evident in some of the hotel info folders. A bit disturbing.

“I've stayed at this hotel previously. It is pleasant and well located, but massive and somewhat impersonal. I needed quiet room for much business work!!! Thanks.”

• The location to the Theater District was perfect.
• The Italian restaurant, Etrusca in the hotel wasn't the best.

“The central location to the theater district was wonderful, close Broadway shows, Central Park, shopping, museums and Times Square. The hotel lobby, cocktail rooms and guest rooms were very nice. The newsstand inside the hotel had everything we needed, medicine, snacks, a scarf, etc. Just to name a few items we were in need of during our stay. The only downside was the room was on the 42nd floor got really stuffy at night even with the air on, but thankfully the windows opened and we could cool off the room. My other comment would be that the concierge desk was hit or miss as far as their knowledge of NYC depending on who was working that day.”

• Room was old looked used.

“The hotel looked odd, the room seemed to be used. Furniture's been broken, dusty wallpapers been damaged. No cups for the toothbrush in the bath, no carpet for the bath. Mini bar was sealed. The hotel needs a renovation. It was for me the third Hilton in New York which I tried. I liked the times square Hilton the moose, than the millennium Hilton Downtown and the last Hilton wasn't absolutely no hit.”

“With small but very attractive rooms, this hotel is excellent for the traveler who doesn't plan to spend a lot of time in their room but wants it to be comfortable when they're there.”

“Our stay at Hilton was very nice. Location of the hotel is great, very close to Central Park, theaters and museums. Lots of restaurants around including good breakfast places. Room was also very nice, pretty big with a nice bathroom.”

• Charged for internet access.

“This hotel was great overall. It had an excellent location. The room was clean, and aesthetically pleasing. The lobby area was very crowded and hectic, with large groups checking in and out, but the hotel floors themselves were very quiet. It would be great for a business traveler or a family.”

• The room was recently renovated and the quality of the change was very good.
• People were sitting in the halls and no one asked them to move.

“This hotel is very well located near the theatre district. Many of the rooms have been remodeled to very high standards and these rooms are attractive and comfortable. There are a number of excellent restaurants nearby. We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and recommend it highly.”

• Very clean, comfortable and upscale. The room was swanky and the hotel itself was elegant.
• There was nothing that didn't appeal to me.

“This hotel is conveniently located on 53rd and 6th. Close to shopping and sights. I used it for business only and took both Taxi and Subway, where stops were just a block away. I'd stay here again!”

• Right in the center of plenty action and things to do.
• No shower gel, otherwise I loved the place. I will go back.

“After check in we used the gym (it was pretty nice!) had a shower, ordered room service and then went out on the town to hang out. The steak we ordered from room service was just as good as from any steakhouse (tender, flavorful, grilled and well done) and the cocktails were perfectly mixed! The room was so cozy yet contemporary and the staff were so friendly. I would love to come back again.”

• I think they stuck me in the worst room when they saw that I got the big discount rate.

“I REALLY didn't like how they nickel and dimed me for using the internet in my room, $15.00, and then to use the nice gym $18.00. Other than that it was clean, it was at a great price, and it was right where I wanted to be. I'll just be ready to demand a better room next time at check-in.”

• No food except room service.

“Great, comfy beds!, flat screen TV with free HBO, Internet access, hotel room service was quick and VERY friendly, pretty bathroom, spacious rooms, central location within walking distance of some great must-see NY sights. Too noisy, one restaurant was closed, I couldn't find the other restaurant, 1 bar doesn't serve food, no complimentary breakfast (good thing their room service was terrific), Internet access is not free, no safe.”

“The New York Hilton is a long established hotel. I expected it to be a bit run down but that was not the case at all. My room and the hallways seemed to be recently renovated. The room was very attractive and comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly. the bed was very comfortable. The location is great right in midtown. I would definitely stay there again.”

• Concierge excellent at recommending family-friendly restaurants, great location.
• Thin walls; be prepared to hear the conversations of your neighbors!

“Very clean, great toiletries and fluffy towels, some rooms have excellent views (we've stayed here several times). Concierges really know the restaurants in the area and the hotel has no lack of port-a-cribs for your tiny tots. But be prepared to deal with noise from neighboring rooms, the walls are very thin and the doors for adjoining rooms can rattle a little in their frames. Twice at this hotel we've had to ask neighbors to "keep it down." Also be aware that school groups often stay here, so the lobby is sometimes filled with large groups of noisy 8th to 12th graders. This can be annoying if you're looking for luxury or romance. But if you're looking for a very nice hotel at a reasonable price, this is a great location, very conveniently located.”

• The Concierge desk was limited. Employees were pleasant but limited. I requested convention info. They were unwilling to think beyond the script.
