• I was pleasantly surprised that there was a kitchenette.

“ I only stayed in this room for 1 night, but if I had spent the entire week there, I would have definitely utilized the kitchenette. I don't like eating out every night while traveling, so I liked that there was a full refrigerator, stove, microwave and coffee maker. Location was convenient for my needs.

“This is a very energetic hotel. The staff were courteous and the room was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. This seems like a great property and likely a great chain.”

• The rooms were very big for New York; a kitchen in every room if you need it.
• Room not ready at checkin; walls paper thin; tv not flat; have to call to change linens; lobby small; location not convenient.

“The hotel is just okay. The rooms are HUGE and contain kitchens, so that may be reason enough to stay here. But it definitely is a 3-3.5 star hotel and not a 4 star hotel as listed. the location is not very convenient. It is near a 4, 5, 6 stop which is great, but that is probably the most inconvenient line on the MTA. The room was not ready at check-in, which is unacceptable. The walls are very thin, and you can hear people close doors and talk in the hallway. I kept waking up in the morning thinking that someone was entering the room. Also, the beds are quite uncomfortable-- I had back pains for 2 days after I stayed here.”

• This hotel had the most comfortable mattress I have ever experienced!
• No pool/hot tub.

“I spent the weekend in New York with my mom. The front desk staff was friendly. The room was clean and spacious. I had the most restful night of my life. Affinia's beds are so comfortable. They also have a pillow menu, so you can choose the firmness that is best for you. Best of all, checkout wasn't until noon, so we didn't have to worry about being up early after a late night!”

• Clean, central, comfortable, well appointed rooms.
• Could not extend stay at same rate so moved on to Soho hotel, same price, better location.

“This is nice comfortable well-run establishment which attracted a nice clientèle. The room I had was well equipped with a large work desk, king bed, wall safe, kitchen and was very spacious by any standard. There is a nice gym, with steam room and a Spa for those looking to indulge in various treatments.”

• Easy to walk to work. That is why I selected it.
• Room was an inferior one with old TV and bad location.

“They are the ones not up-to-date. TV and in poor locations, e.g. by elevator shaft or stair cases with doors that open/close often. That is the trade off for a discounted room. Bad location!”

• Construction work/ drilling noise on floor above.

• It was clean, and the rooms were spacious and nice.
• It was not really in the empire state area as noted.

“The Affinia Dumont is a very clean, comfortable hotel. It has plenty of room in each suite. The decor is attractive. The staff is very friendly. It is also conducive to longer stays due to the convenience of a kitchenette.”

• Modern, clean, spacious - the addition of the kitchen was a nice surprise.
• The AC controls (i.e. fan speed) were too limited.It was too loud and the air speed to high. The shower head needs replacing.

“I enjoyed my stay here. It was clean. The staff very friendly. That they had a 13th floor was cool. The beds were comfortable, the room and bathroom well appointed. The addition of the kitchen was a great added benefit.”

• Great location, excellent bed.
• Nothing not to like.

“Convenient location. Beautiful room with a very comfortable desk with an Aeron chair no less! I have never had an Aeron chair in a hotel room before. Kitchenette (as in typical Affinia style), nice bathroom. Very quiet. There was on oversize, framed mirror on one wall - very dramatic and nice touch.”

“Everything about the hotel was excellent, however... it's beyond me how a top hotel like this one still has the nerve to charge $14.00 per night for internet, when much lesser hotels provide it for free.”

• I was upgraded to spacious suite with great desk space. Interesting, fun, quirky, but still professional.
• It's a little off beaten path. You like that or yo udon't.

• The focus on comfort and health, great pillow selection and steam room in the fitness center!
• Poor washroom facilities in lobby.

“A lovely, comfortable hotel with great service in a not too hectic area of Midtown East. Plenty of restaurants to choose from, the staff was helpful and always smiling. I'd certainly stay here again.”

• Windows couldn't be opened, bad breakfast at the restaurant.

• The hotel is less than 3 blocks from the nearest subway stop.
• The hotel charges an extra fee for internet access from the room.

“The staff is very helpful and friendly. Nice spa on the second floor. The business lounge in the lobby has only one computer terminal. Wired or wireless internet access are available for $13.95.”

• The overall experience was great. There was a small kitchen and the work space was nice.
• There was no heat available. Room temperature overred at 73F with A/C off. A/C was set at 65F when I arrived. You also had to pay for internet.

“The hotel was beautiful, the staff was helpful, the rooms were nice, clean and large. It would have been a great place for a family to stay, or just a business traveler. I did not use the spa, but it looked great. The location was also wonderful, safe and easy to get around in and the parking was great. It was also very quiet.”

• The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in.
• There was not a restaurant in the hotel.

“After a 6 hour flight delay, I was expecting a continued unpleasant trip. To my delight, it was just the opposite. The room was spacious and had an excellent view. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The room was quiet. My only complaint was the water in the shower kept getting cold while showering. I will most definitely stay here again.”

“We were welcomed graciously upon arrival. The desk clerk was very thorough in her explanation of the hotel facilities. Our room was on the very top floor and was extremely quiet. The chain on the toilet flusher broke and it was fixed very quickly after I reported it. The kitchenette was a welcome feature; the market/deli down the street was a great place to stock up for the stay. I would definitely stay here again.”

• All the staff seemed to do was to make your stay great.
• Nothing.

“Excellent hotel. It was a fitness hotel and the workout room was great. The next day they moved us to the 33rd floor (out of 36) and we had an excellent view of NYC. You could even select types of pillows each night for your bed to help with an excellent sleep.”

• Loved it all.

“Upon arriving, we were upgraded to a one bedroom suite. I had heard that the hotel had large rooms but this was incredible. The decor was great and the bed was super comfortable. We stay in NY a lot and this was one of our best experiences. The staff was amazing! Everything was perfect. We couldn't have been more comfortable!”

• Location is perfect. Beds very comfortable. Great bathrooms and toiletries.
• Carpets a little shabby. Pillows on menu poor quality or not working.

“Loved it! They let us check in at 10:30am, very nice and helpful. The room was huge for NY, complimentary fitness trainer we did not use, fitness kit was fun. The bathrooms are marble and nice, and the lighting is exceptional.”

• Much larger room than typical in NYC at this price/level.
• TV and Internet services were out-dated (i.e., no wireless, TV was old and picture was not great).

“Great location, 1/2 block to many great bars/restaurants and public transportation. Very clean, upscale hotel and the extra large room (by Manhattan standards) was quite a surprise.”

• I had no complaints at all.

“This was my best ever hotel experience in New York, including some hotels that have been much more expensive. There on an anniversary trip, the staff did everything possible to be accommodating. The room on the 29th floor had a terrific view of the E. River and the Chrysler Building (we kept the curtains open all night). The place was immaculate, very large-not just for New York but anywhere-and well-appointed. The location is a quiet area of Manhattan, within a walk of Times Square-not the most central location in the city but safe and nice. I would recommend this hotel to absolutely anyone!”

• The room and view were excellent
• No landscaping in the restaurant courtyard.
