Cleanliness:[4] • Staff:[3] • Location:[6]

  • Good location.
  • Rooms cheaply decorated, too expensive, staff aloof and unhelpful, breakfast was not included, internet should be free.

“There is nothing good to say about it other than its location. It wants to be a W, based on the style of the interior design and ridiculous artwork over the front desk, but the interiors are cheaply done. Glue leftover on the wallpaper, corners not painted, cheap wooden planks for the shelving in the closet, mildew on the ceiling. Plus $40 per person for coffee and Danish in the restaurant. VHS, VCRs in the rooms just makes them seem dated. Where would you rent a VHS type in Manhattan anyway? No washcloths in the room the first two days, no towels the second day either. Any reasonable hotel will respond quickly and say they're sorry, a real 4 or 5 star hotel would never have stuff like that happen. A real 4 or 5 star hotel charges a reasonably high fee per night but then doesn't nickel and dime you to death by charging for internet or breakfast or use of the business center. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.”

  • Very small dark room with a view of a brick wall.

“For the weekend NY traveler, it was sufficient. You could walk to almost anywhere you wanted and the Subway was very accessible. I was disappointed that we could not check in until 3 but the cleaning staff shows up at 9 to make your room. Also, there was a VCR not a DVD player in the room. Who uses VCRs still?.”

“Perfect hotel for new visitors to NYC. Most major tourist sites are within a very short walk or inexpensive taxi ride. Central Park is close enough to enjoy at least one stroll daily without cutting into your itinerary. Hotel restaurants offer food for all tastes. This hotel is immaculately maintained, and the entire operation seems to run very smoothly. You will enjoy your stay. No matter what kind of traveler you are, this hotel has something for every one.”

“I arrived at about 12:30 AM solely to sleep for the night before returning to work the next morning. The decor is very modern but the furniture is all real wood in excellent condition (spotless) with a real leather headboard and lots of wood accents throughout the room. The bath is marble. The entire room is well designed to maximize space and spacious for a midtown NYC room. Staff was very friendly despite my late hour for checking in. Definitely worth the price.”

  • Very cool place.
  • The hallway and room were a bit smelly (prior water leak) and there was a lot of old hair on the wall in the shower/bath.

“If you like ultra-mod, hip-looking place, this is certainly the place to be. Also comfortable and helpful/pleasant staff. The Chocolate Sunday Brunch was interesting, fun and pretty good. Though the waitresses could have been a lot quicker about re-filling the coffee cups. Before entering the room, there was a very musty smell in the hallway; a water stain from an apparent leak on an upper floor was on the wall and carpet. The musty smelliness and hair in the shower/bath made it seem a lot less than 4-star, despite the chic coolness of the place.”

“Great location and clean but that's about it! Rooms are closet size. They charge for using the fitness center which I did not expect. What is most annoying is the room directory leads you to believe that the fitness center is part of the hotel and is complementary. The room closet is tiny (will not even hold a single suitcase) and does not have a door (they use a drape to cover the enclosure!). No coffee maker in the room. Definitely not a 4 star hotel! I have stayed at better 3 star hotels in Manhattan.”

  • I simply asked for a room with a nice view and when I checked in, I found out I had been upgraded to a corner room with a view of Central Park!
  • There's no posting anywhere in the lobby. One of the hotel entrances closes after a certain time of night. Very inconvenient.

“Upon entering the hotel, it's hard to tell what to expect. The lobby is spacious with tall columns and has lots of natural light. The people was working at the front desk were great! They were friendly, but not fake and quickly got us checked into our room. The best part - I had called the day before to ask if there was a possibility to get a room with a nice view and the woman at the front desk told me she'd try her best. When I checked into the hotel, I found out that I had been upgraded to one of the tower rooms. We had a large corner room with a view that overlooked Central Park and the city skyline! The room was retro meets modern sleek. Different, yet appealing. With all the other gadgets, we were disappointed that there wasn't an iPod dock. The concierge staff was friendly with lots of suggestions and patience. Brunch at Norma's was delicious! The orange juice is fresh, the coffee is invigorating, the eggs are fluffy, the ingredients are flavorful and the French toast is addictive. The portions are really big, but then again so is the bill. One order of OJ, coffee, eggs & French toast for 2 people was a little over $60. So come prepared to eat a lot and spend a lot.”

There were plenty of options on how to light my room, a great view, the entire entertainment system was on a swivel, so it could face any direction. The bath products were really nice. Water pressure was too good, made me feel guilty for taking a shower. I had to fight with my room door to get it to close and lock behind me, but other than that it was a great experience.”

  • The location.
  • Bad customer service in emergency.

“The service we received at Le Parker Meridien NY was horrible. I shared this story at my firm, & one suggested that I would have gotten a better assistance if we had stayed at a 1 star hotel. We arrived at Le Parker Meridien and after one night of rest, my husband (who is on a book tour and combined our trip into a vacation) prepared for his speeches/radio events. We packed to leave at 4 a.m. so as to make it back to DC in time for another book event. When the hotel staff retrieved our minivan from the garage, we discovered that the driver side window was broken. Evidently, someone at the Le Parker Meridien garage tampered and broke the window mechanism. The mechanism was working on the evening of May 26th when we turned it over to the staff. The hotel manager insisted that we didn't have a right to complain about the window being broken by the hotel garage staff because our minivan is 10 years old and refused to help get my husband a train and refused to have the staff bring the minivan to a garage for repair. We could not believe that a 4-star hotel would refuse to assist its guests especially when it appeared the hotel is responsible for breaking our van that was left in their care. As a result, my husband incurred new charges by paying for an immediate train ticket, and I was left alone in NYC with a cranky toddler and a small dog trying to find a glass repair place because Le Parker Meridien would not help by bringing my broken vehicle to a nearby glass repair place. Instead they slapped on some plastic on the broken window limiting both my visibility and ability to maneuver the vehicle around the NYC, and insisted that I drive the vehicle myself. Our troubles did not end there. They had included one extra charge that was not associated with our stay. However, the hotel had charged us again for the same day. My husband called the hotel's accounting dept. We both just graduated from law school and are taking the Bar exam, so we are living on a very tight budget.”

“This hotel was a good place to stay to visit NYC mainly due to its location. Great access to key neighborhoods. We were disappointed by our room. The carpet felt dirty and the bath-tub was not at par with the sink, which was much nicer. We also did not have the best view (facing a deteriorating building), so that did not help. The lobby, common spaces, and restaurants were much better than our room. If it weren't for its location, Le Parker would have very little going for it. We probably will not stay there again.”

“This was a great hotel for a long weekend in NYC. The location was perfect - an easy walk to just about everywhere we wanted to go. The staff at the hotel was friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was beautiful (especially the lobby/atrium), and our room was very nicely decorated and comfortable. My only complaint was that we had a view of an ugly building next door, but there's nothing they can do about that! We liked the modern theme, and also enjoyed the sense of humor on the hotel's publications. The cartoons in the elevator were a nice touch. We had breakfast at Norma's once. It was excellent, but very expensive! (Watch out for the orange juice they offer you when you sit down - it costs $8.00/glass!). We had a drink at the hotel restaurant (Seppi's). We asked if there were any drinks, they made especially well, and they seemed to be confused by the question. We asked if they had a drink menu, and were told they didn't, but on the way out of the restaurant, we noticed a list of specialty drinks on the regular dinner menu. My husband ordered a mojito and it was terrible (and for him to say that, it must have been pretty bad!). We also tried the Burger place behind the curtain in the lobby. It was very good, and lived up to the hype! Make sure you order correctly, or you have to go to the back of the line! We would definitely stay at Le Parker Meridian again.”

“Parker Meridian in NYC is in a great location, has wonderful rooms and a fabulous "Burger Joint" (its actual name) hidden in the lobby.”

  • Location.
  • Noisy lobby, unhelpful front desk.

“Overall, the hotel was nice and the location is great. But when I needed a quiet place to make a cell phone call after checking out, the staff sent me to the lounge of the fitness center which does not get cell phone signals. Even though I asked about a business center, they directed me to the fitness center. Later, I noticed that there is a business center. I don't get it.”
