“Very nice accommodations in the heart of mid-town near theater & shopping. Great for weekend get-away or business travel. Rooms may be too, small for a family stay.” Aug 15, 2009 by
Gil from Salem,OR
“A nice and conveniently located mid-town hotel near Bryant Park. Lobby has a young and hip vibe. Rooms are sleek and masculine. Beds and pillows are great. The only complaint is that we were at the Penthouse Floor and even at the top floor, the constant hum and vibrations from outside the building made us feel like we were on a cruise ship at sea.” Aug 2, 2009 by
Sheryl from Keyser,WV
“Very Nice and would stay there again. It was very centrally located to everything. Great find.” Jul 24, 2009 by
Bill from San Francisco,CA
“The Royaltion is essentially a very nice hotel - the upgrade to a room with soaking tub was great - very romantic. The decor is sleek & modern & the size of the romm for NYC was adequate. The downsides were 2: the room was very dark with very low watt bulbs; this problem was complicated by the fact that the window faced an ugly, dark alley - would not like that room again especially for an extended stay (beyond 2 nights)” Jul 24, 2009 by
Carol from Grant,MN
“Basically the hotel was very good. The front desk staff and concierge (when she was there which was not ofter) were friendly. The bellboys were more friendly to young women and were not always at the front door. The rooms were clean and very modern. Our view was a brick wall and fire escape. Free wi-fi would have been nice ($10/day).” Jul 13, 2009 by
Elizabeth from Morristown,NJ
“Overall we like this hotel a lot.” Jun 28, 2009 by
Ruhina from Quincy,MA
“This hotel is located right off time square - if you are not a picky traveler - go for it - the room was big - but dingy, furnishing desperately need upgrading, dark, smelt musty - I did not sleep at all at night - room looks like a cheap cruise cabin. Will not stay again. Staff were friendly - had read other reviews so was prepared for ambiance in lobby - dark and club like - not a problem - just room smelt and was yucky. Large tub would only get in it with my slippers on - shower faucet on back wall so have to get into tub to start shower - so you get wet just turning on the shower. The hotel definitely caters to an adult environment - this is obvious by all the amenities for purchase in the room. Not again.” Jun 11, 2009 by
George from Palm Beach,FL
“Great hotel in a great location. Very nicely appointed rooms with many extra amenities.” Jun 5, 2009 by
Jeff from Kenilworth,IL
“Great location. Great staff. Modern, European style rooms. Great value. Only minor downsides were dark hallways, dark bathroom, and no signage out front, so you don't know it is the hotel until you ask the bell hop.” Jun 3, 2009 by
Asghar from Arlington,VA
“This was not a 4 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. The rooms were tiny and the first room was stinking. The second room (only one available was also smelling of cigarettes). I have also stayed at the Hudson, also managed by the Morgan Hotel group which was equally disappointing (tiny room). Not for travelers with family.” Jun 1, 2009 by
Tony from Victor,MT
“Nice place, near Times Square with large rooms.” May 7, 2009 by
Glenda from Roaring Branch,PA
“Hotel was close to Times Square, fireplace was beautiful.” May 1, 2009 by
Carolyn from Magnolia,AR
“It was quiet, restful, very dark in the halls, clean, lacked space in bathroom for vanity use, good location, and very nice staff. The restaurant was excellent.” Apr 21, 2009 by
Gary from Claremont,CA
“Beautiful boutique style hotel. Rooms have very comfortable modern furnishings. The staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful.” Apr 16, 2009 by
Diego from Toronto,Canada
“Good hotel in general. The staff were very friendly. The main problem was related to the cleanliness in the first day in our room. The other days were fine.” Apr 12, 2009 by
Matt from Oklahoma City,OK “Overall, I was satisfied with the hotel. Excellent location and lobby bar seems like a really cool place to hang out. Rooms were small and staff was helpful.” Apr 11, 2009 by
Diane from San Diego,CA
“This hotel was not a good experience for friends traveling together. The double occupancy did not mean two beds. It does not even mean a king. There were no rooms with two beds nor kings. The rooms were too contemporary which meant uncomfortable and cold. The chairs and bed were not comfortable. They were too stiff.” Apr 4, 2009 by
JJ from Vero Beach,FL
“I walked right past the hotel because it is a very narrow building and not well marked, no sign at all. Entering with the help of a doorman who helpfully stepped down and asked if I was looking for the hotel, I found the lobby, unlike any other I have seen anywhere in the world. Dark, but warm. Apr 3, 2009 by
Lisa from Briarcliff Manor,NY
“Good value for the money, however accommodations are not up to date. The hotel rooms are very dark (black in fact).” Mar 29, 2009 by
Kathy from Lees Summit,MO
“My stay was absolutely wonderful and I recommend this hotel highly to everyone except families with children.” Mar 28, 2009 by
Michael from Solon,OH
“Hotel was just plain cool, trendy, an absolute pleasure.” Dec 12, 2008 by
Cathy from Kentville,Canada
“Boutique hotel in a great location. Staff was superb.” Oct 28, 2008 by

“This is a boutique hotel with a hip bar covering most of the ground level. Rooms are small, but have nice new contemporary amenities. The hotel is well located for both Midtown and Times Square activities. I highly recommend this hotel.” Oct 8, 2008 by
nancy
“Fabulous hotel and great location. Loved everything about it!” Sep 15, 2008 by
Kate
“The hotel was. The location was great. It was very intimate and cozy and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I would describe the hotel as trendy but also classy, which can be hard to find. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.” Aug 16, 2008 by
Marsha from Earleton, FL
“Very please with our stay, staff was polite & helpful, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.” Aug 13, 2008 by
Kardar from Kirkland, WA
“This type of hotels and the money one is likely to spend must include breakfast. One enjoy Buffet breakfast in a 4 star hotel on business or leisure trip. We had to go out to another hotel nearby to enjoy breakfast.” Aug 8, 2008 by
Susan from San Diego, CA
“I couldn't have been happier with the Royalton - it was much more than I expected or would have hoped. The accommodations were comfortable and functional, the staff was extremely helpful and it was a very convenient location for everything we wanted to do. Close to shopping, nice restaurants as well as fast-food and easy access to Starbucks! Far enough off of Times Square to miss the noise and traffic but close enough for an easy walk.” Aug 6, 2008 by
A H. from Thornhill, NU CA
“Well located close to 5th Avenue shops and Grand Central Station, very friendly staff and simple efficient lobby with comfortable lounge areas.” Aug 5, 2008 by
Kritin from Lansdale, PA
“The Royalton was great! The room was much nicer than I anticipated and very spacious. The hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay more enjoyable including allowing an early check-in, sending a fax and providing milk for our toddler at bedtime. Although the hotel is somewhat trendy, the staff was very welcoming to our toddler and made sure we had everything we needed for her. The only thing that I did not like was the lighting in the hallways - it is pretty dark. I felt a little uneasy walking down the hall alone at night but other than that it was great! The location was very convenient with multiple Subway lines close by and shops within walking distance. I was very impressed and will stay here again.” Aug 2, 2008 by
Tracy from Santa Monica, CA
“Their standard room only is big enough for 1 person not 2. I had to pay $50 additional charge per day just to upgrade to a superior room. The bathroom showers flood every time you use them. I will never stay ay this hotel again.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Janice from Lakeway, TX
“It's location is perfect for doing Broadway and midtown. The corner room was huge by NYC standards, ultra modern and stylish. The lounge area was totally adult and inviting.” Jul 23, 2008 by
Jane from Emerald Hills, CA
“This little gem of a hotel is almost hidden from the street with its name subtly carved into stone above a large, oversized door. The bar was bustling and a romantic fire welcomed us as we searched for the front desk. The personnel were very helpful and accommodating. Once in our room, we found the decor to be modern but not cold. The large king size bed, topped with a multitude of pillows, was very comfortable. There was ample space with a lengthy upholstered window seat. The walk in shower, with an oversized showerhead, was wonderful! All in all, a great experience.” Jul 14, 2008 by
Mike from Birmingham, AL
“Very friendly staff. It was clean and very nice. I enjoyed the hotel very much.” Jul 7, 2008 by
Carol from St Louis, MO
“This hotel has a young feel. The bar area had lots of places to relax and meet other hotel guests. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. And our room was perfect. Great hotel sheets, great towels, great bathroom!” Jul 2, 2008 by
Rick from Yantic, CT
“Overall, the accommodations were excellent. From the moment I entered the lobby there was a sense of sophistication about the Royalton. Very modern decor, a huge plus! The room was smaller than expected but very clean. My only issue was with the slowness of the elevators since I was on the 12th floor but this would not deter me from staying there.” Jun 30, 2008 by
Matt from Menlo Park, CA
“Good overall experience - small room, as is expected in NYC. Fairly typical for a Morgan's Hotel Group property.” Jun 1, 2008 by
Tisa from Lithonia, GA
“This hotel is very romantic for couples. They have one of the best staff that I have met. Also, the location was great. I highly recommend this hotel for couples.” May 31, 2008 by
Ken from Middleton, WI
“Fashionably modern small hotel in an historically interesting block of 44th St near 5th Avenue and the Times Square. Quiet rooms, attentive staff, and a welcoming fireplace compensate for the dark atmosphere of public spaces.” May 8, 2008 by
Bruce from Calgary, AB CA
“Clean rooms, good staff, ridiculous and dark lobby and public areas, ridiculous prices for in-house food, drinks, etc. Would not consider this hotel again.” May 1, 2008 by
Luis from Davie, FL
“Excellent.” Apr 23, 2008 by
Kristen from Cherry Hill, NJ
“Upon approaching the hotel, we were welcomed by the bellhop and escorted into the lobby. The lobby was exquisitely decorated, very modern and cozy. The hostess was very friendly, a very nice gesture. The elevators are small and we wondered how exactly it could fit 12 people, if possible. The hallways were dimly lit, but consistent with the ambience. Our room was much more than we expected. Beautiful modern decor, ample lighting with dimmers, and very plush linens. The bathroom was the highlight of our room, with the extra large shower. Overall, we were extremely happy with our choice to stay at the Royalton and look forward to staying there again upon our next visit to the city.” Apr 16, 2008 by
Gail from Meriden, CT
“Beautiful hotel with a great atmosphere.” Mar 23, 2008 by
Diane C. from Norristown, PA
“This was my first visit to this hotel. Staff was friendly and accommodating (checked in 3 hours early). Location convenient to theaters and shopping. Room and all hotel areas were well maintained. Lobby/bar area was comfortable with fireplaces. This area becomes busy at night. Room equipped with large umbrella. Comes in handy when it rains and you left your umbrella at home.” Jan 7, 2008 by
John from Leesburg, VA
“A great place to stay for business as well as romantic getaways. Friendly staff and rooms with all the amenities that you'd want or need. Excellent dining and a fashionable cocktail lounge that essentially doubles as the hotel lobby. A very nice place to stay.” Jun 15, 2007 by
Shannon from Los Angeles, CA
“The Royalton canceled my reservation before I arrived in NYC & I was moved to Morgan's (a sister hotel). The staff made me feel right a home & always remembered my name. They really went above & beyond. While the hotel was very nice it was also very dark (even with all the lights on). Also, the furniture & rug in my room were worn in places & seemed like it was time for an update.” Jun 14, 2007 by
Susan from Madison, WI
“This hotel appeared geared to a younger clientele. Lighting in common areas was very dim. Modern decor was nice. We liked the staff and the location and we would return, in large part due to location and shower. No amenities such as restaurant or gift shop in this hotel.” Jun 13, 2007 by
Abigail from Pepper Pike, OH
“You guys really should be aware of renovations when and if they are taking place on properties listed. We felt much ripped off due to the situation at hand upon our arrival. In the past we have stayed at the Royalton and felt it was what it was marketed as via you not this time. We were duped! There was a make shift bar in the lobby, no restaurant and half the lobby was not in use. It certainly was not a 4 or 5 star property in the state it was in.” Jun 13, 2007 by
Elissa from Hampstead, QC CA
“The hotel rooms and bathrooms were spacious and modern. The comforters and pillows on the bed were terrific. One of the best hotels we've stayed at in N.Y. Only the lighting needs to be brighter, but the day we checked out, was the last day this hotel was open. It is closing for 4 months for extensive renovations. We will certainly return when it reopens.” Jun 13, 2007 by
Sean from Boston, MA
“Avoid until construction is finished: It is overpriced until then.”
