  • Historical qualities and cleanliness. Great location for the theatre.
  • The room was small.

“The hotel was wonderful. It was delightful to spend time in such a hotel with such great ties to the Broadway. The hotel is cramped but quaint in it's history. The location was fantastic in the middle of everything but off the beaten track. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating.”

  • Location.
  • Room was microscopic.

“Excellent location within five minutes of the Theater District. Rooms are tiny, even by New York standards. We were told that the bed was queen size, but seemed to be smaller. Room was not particularly clean.”

  • Beautiful close to Times Square.
  • Construction starting at 7 am. Manager was very uncaring and not honest in her statements.

“The room was very small. My kids bedroom is larger. Sleeping well until 6:45 am. When construction workers started talking and yelling outside our window. Then work started at 7 and that was the end of sleep. If you stay there don't plan on staying out late to enjoy the city. Great place to stay if you plan to go to NBC Today show. You will be gone before noise starts. Manager was very uncaring, and made untrue statements.”

  • Leaving it.
  • Cramped, inflexible.

“The bathroom door did not close, and if it did, you could get stuck in the bathroom. The rooms are tiny. The key system was not working and had to have a hotel person open the room door. The front desk was inflexible in offering solutions.”

  • Historic and beautifully restored. Very accommodating.
  • The parking was very expensive.

“The Algonquin is a lovely, historic hotel in Midtown Manhattan. The hotel cat was at the door awaiting our arrival. The lobby has free entertainment (piano, singing, show tunes, etc.) most evenings and is a fun place to hang out to have a drink and relax. All of the rooms have little sayings from the literati of the Algonquin's heyday.”

My hubby arranged a theater package and then had the concierge arrange for a bottle of champagne and rose petals to be in our room so wonderful!
