• The staff does make an effort.
• My step son got sick and we had to stay and extra night - they raised the rate.

• Within walking distance of all major attractions.

“Great location, very friendly staff. We had to call for service twice and they were very prompt getting what we needed. Traveled with husband and two kids ages 14 and 10. We had a spacious room with king bed and pull out sofa. Wait staff and check give excellent service. It felt like we were right in Times Square. Would recommend and stay there again.”

• The location is perfect for Broadway and transportation to other parts of the city.
• Some places listed it as four-star which it was not. Be careful of parking validation as that is deceiving - they only gave us $9 toward the parking.

“It is conveniently located, value-priced but not a hotel that I would frequent for a romantic weekend. It's fine for a place to sleep if you plan on having very activity - filled days but the quarters are tight so you won't want to spend too much time in your room.”

• Location to times square and central park.
• Dark, narrow hallways, poorly lit, uninviting.

“This hotel was fine for a short stay. But it definitely does not meet the characteristics I would expect of a 3 1/2 star hotel. Not a welcoming place. Dark, dreary, uninviting. It is in an excellent location, however. Just don't advertise it as a 3 1/2 star hotel, because it is not.”

• Modern look and fell. Prime location in Times Square/Theater district.
• On a couple occasions, they did not re-stock the lotion or body soap even though it was used up.

“This hotel is in a prime location, only a few minutes walk to the subway, theaters, and Times Square. It has a modern look and feel, and the staff was very friendly.”

• Location was near everything and staff was always friendly.
• Elevators took long time.

“Overall excellent experience, elevators took a very long time to get (staff uses the elevators too, no service elevators) once on the elevator it was like a rocket.

• Some of the staff was very nice and friendly. Not all thought.
• Some of the hotel staff, and the fact we needed to pay $40 more per night to get a room with two beds.

• Accommodating staff.

“When we first walked into our room we smelled an old food smell and the room was dark. The window in the room faced a brick wall. We immediately called the front desk and told them what the problem was. We were very satisfied with all the services of the hotel.”

• Very loud music from the bar every evening - quite audible on floors above and below it.

• Most comfortable bed in our 8-day, 4-hotel trip.
• Cramped quarters with over sized mini-bar.

“Unassuming hotel tucked in to Time Square with comfy upscale amenities and super comfortable bed. You seriously wouldn't see it if you weren't looking for it on 49th St. The feel of the room was cramped and IKEA-dormish, but this is typical for the location. Hated the
huge refrigerated mini-bar. Took up a lot of space and I would never spend that kind of money of snacks when you could walk across the street to Duane Reade to get the same. Internet connection was poor. Great huge HD TV in the room. Fast elevator. Nice doormen.”

• Staff was excellent and so friendly!
• Room had mold, broken door and faucet handles and the queen sized bed was more like a double.

“Fantastic location, staff (especially overnight) were excellent and so friendly! Close to major subway stops and food. What they call a queen sized bed is actually a double. No extra room to walk around the bed. Lounge was excellent on a Saturday night.”

• Had a very quiet room that was clean and updated.

“The staff was helpful and pleasant. The room was clean and quiet. It was very small, but that didn't matter. I had a very comfortable king bed and a nice bathroom. The lighting was very cool and the in-room safe and mini-bar were very convenient. I feel I got an incredible value for a NYC room.”

• Beautiful hotel.
• Temperature of the room, unwillingness of staff to fix it.

“The hotel was beautiful but my room's thermometer was broken the entire time, so it was blisteringly hot and I complained 5 times and the one and only time they sent someone up to fix it, his solution was to open the windows. The problem with this was the heater was right under the windows so it never made an impact on the temperature.”

• The Doorman were the best thing about the hotel.

“This hotel is very dark and dreary to the point of being claustrophobic. The front desk staff were not very friendly or welcoming. Our toilet clogged. Couldn't fix it till next morning. Had to use the fitness room bathroom at 4a.m. The shower leaked, the towel I put on the floor next to the shower was sopping wet after every shower. Our room heater/cooler didn't work very well. Had to open the windows to cool off the room. When we put the heat on it took forever to heat the room just a couple degrees. The room service was fast but the food was not so good.”

• The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
• The beds were horribly uncomfortable.

“The service at this hotel was exceptionally good. I had two issues with my room, and accommodations were made to quickly resolve the problems. My biggest issue with the room was the bed. The bed was horribly uncomfortable, and I ended up sleeping on the floor both nights.”

• The room was small, but that's to be expected in Times Square.

“My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the time. The room was small but stylishly decorated and designed with efficient use of space- all the amenities were there. The staff was friendly and the lounge very cool. Of course you cannot beat the location. Would stay again.”

• Very small rooms. Weird decor. For the young and trendy.

“If location is critical and other hotels are booked, the times will work. If you are 30ish and younger, you may like the decor. At 55 I was not impressed. Staff was o.k. If I had been in my mid twenties and a looker, they would have been better. Rooms were small. Not a complete bomb, but the Times would not be on my top of the list for the next business trip.”

• New York Times delivered to your door each morning.
• Small room. After confirming availability of a king size bed, I had to fight for one when I got there. Had to dispute phone charges.

“It is in the center of everything, if that is your preference. Rooms are small but generally well equipped. Desk staff not very helpful. No valet parking was available and there was certainly not a lot of staff devoted to ensuring your every wish was met. I did not appreciate having to fight for the king size bed I was guaranteed on the phone or having to dispute phone charges erroneously made to my account.”

• We had a small room with only one double bed for three people. The hotel was full and the clerk hung up on me when I called from the room.

• They tried to make us pay for an upgrade just to have two double beds in the room (which were available). They did not clean the rooms until 5:00.

“The staff were not interested in helping guests at all. The bathroom leaked and they took their time in fixing it and the same for the clogged toilet. They tried to get us to pay $83 per night extra to have two double beds in the room (and there was availability for this). This is outrageous. We had to ask four times to get a second towel brought to the room. The room was so tiny, you could not walk”

• The location was perfect to all activity by Times Square and the theater district
• The room size was only slightly bigger than a bathroom and the furnishings very sparce, and the lobby was nonexistant

“I would not recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a conventional hotel. If someone is looking for an apartment atmosphere where there is no lobby or any conventional hotel convenience then this place is perfect. The size of the room was not acceptable for 2 people. It really isn't acceptable for 1 person. The location is excellent.”

“The Time Hotel is a boutique hotel in the heart of Times Square. The design of the hotel is very contemporary. You enter the lobby from a glass elevator -- if you look down, you see hundreds of egg cartons. Very neat! Service was first rate. Many amenities including Kashmere bathrobe, Bose radios, and fax/printer/copiers in each room. I felt very comfortable and well taken care of as a single traveler.”

• The room was cramped.

“This place is not for the claustrophobic. Maybe this par for the course at this price point in Manhattan today, but the room was spartan--meant only for sleeping, changing clothes, and washing up. It said "Do what you have to do and then get out." There was barely room enough to walk around the queen bed. The "closet" barely had enough room to hang my clothes. No dresser drawers. The bath had just enough room for the required functions. That said, everything was clean and functional. I expect a submariner would be at home here.The "lobby" was equally spartan, with a small front desk and two vinyl-upholstered chairs, unless you count the adjacent lounge.The front of the hotel is not well marked, so it can be hard to find, even when you are standing a few doors away. No taxi driver I encountered knew where it was. I had to tell them the nearest intersection.The staff that I encountered were all polite and helpful, including the servers at the Oceo restaurant on the ground floor, which had a decent breakfast buffet.”
