• Great location.

“Wonderful hotel if you want to be at the heart of NYC! Exactly what we wanted. We've been coming to NYC at the same time every year for the past five years and this is the first time we got this hotel. What a great Christmas present.”

• They stole my money by cashing my check twice.

“In April 2009 I stayed at the Marriott Marquis in NYC. During my stay I cashed a check for 100 USD. The hotel cashed the check in April. Then in June they cashed the check a second time. When I called to inquire I was given the run around. I call A, A tells me to call B, B tells me to call C, C tells me to call A. When I finally did get through to someone they told me this had happened to other guests, but that they would fix it. Two weeks later I received a threat laced demand letter from a collection agency hired by Marriott. They demanded that I PAY another 100 USD, plus penalties, plus interest. I sent proof to the credit rating agency that it was Marriott that owed me the money. They did not care. They kept coming after me and threatened to destroy me credit rating based on Marriott's lies. So I traced the trail of legal entities associated with this credit rating agency and threatened them with legal action if they did not back off. They stood down. Marriott still had not refunded my money. So I continued to pursue a refund from Marriott. They were unapologetic for stealing my money, unapologetic for referring me to the collection agents, and unwilling to refund the money despite the undisputed fact that they had cashed my check twice. Just as I was about to file pleadings to initiate a lawsuit to recover the money Marriott came to a settlement with me. They refunded my money and payed me for some of the damages they had inflicted. Although Marriott did end up refunding the money, pursuing the matter entailed a great deal of personal time and risk. I'm my opinion the management of the Marriott Marquis in NYC is incompetent and untrustworthy.”

“My husband and I always enjoy staying here. Its location is wonderful, if you like being in the middle of Times Square. The elevators are simply amazing. The rooms are spotless and the staff was friendly and helpful. We will stay here again.”

• The size of the room.

“The check in was fast and courteous. The location is perfect. The hotel has large rooms and was very clean. The furnishings were up to date. The only drawbacks are the food and beverage prices, internet access fee and waiting for elevators.”

• The variety of restaurants and lounges.
• The elevators were somewhat confusing at first.

“I'd say we were pleasantly surprised. I knew it was a large, very busy hotel, so didn't really expect it to be so clean and fresh looking. And, the staff couldn't have been more helpful.”

• The location.
• One could hear the flushing of toilets or water running through out the night through the walls. Not a quiet hotel.

“Very big hotel. Line up to check in. Excellent
location. Close to everything. Medium sized clean ordinary room. In Times Square so lots of busyness, energy, excitement in the atmosphere. Enjoyed my stay. Might stay there again. Very convenient.”

• I like the general layout and facilities of the hotel.
• Needs a swimming pool. You have to pay for internet access - had problems with it.

“For business travelers in need of a Times Square hotel, the Marriott Marquis is adequate for short or longer stays. The rooms have been renovated and the atrium is spacious and a quiet respite from the cacophony on the streets. The workout facilities are serviceable but there is no swimming pool. Also, they charge for internet access which is not entirely reliable.”

• Too far to ice machine, and vending and smoking areas.

“Was there 1/2009; nice, spacious room with a great view. I understand the corner rooms are larger but can be a trek from the elevator. We had an emergency; hubby had to take an ambulance ride to the hospital. Security was great! It's just nice to know how they handle something like that. No one ever thinks it will happen to them or their vacation. Think again. It can happen even when youre young, on vacation with your kid, etc. Hotel close to everything. Tourist/sightseeing, good shopping, shows, restaurants, etc. Enjoy!”

• Convenient, safe, pleasant decor, comfortable, relaxing.

“The Marriot Marquis surpassed all expectations. The hotel was clean, comfortable and very conveniently located for anyone visiting New York City. The guest rooms were large on NY standards and the staff was courteous. The hotel business center was convenient for checking emails, faxing, etc. Marriot Marquis is my new home for the Big Apple.”

• It was clean, beautiful architecture, friendly staff, perfect location, beautiful view.
• The person at the entrance recommends guest to use illegal taxi cabs.

“Everything was great. The hotel staff was wonderful, the hotel accommodations couldn't be better, the location was perfect. The only problem I had was the person at the entrance where (taxi pick-up) recommends guests to the black cabs that are illegal. Use the yellow cabs only.”

• I loved that it's 100% non-smoking!

“This was a fantastic place to stay! Great location, very nice public areas (elevators, workout room, etc). We noticed a few minor things that fan did not work in bathroom, door stuck when we tried to open, but overall it was a wonderful place to stay.”

• The location is great.
• If driving by car, it is a little hard to get to the hotel entrance.

“Nice hotel in a great Times Square location. More like a 3-3.5 star than a 4 star. The fact that the bar closes at 11 pm is a bit of a bummer. The decor is nice an clean and the beds are quite comfortable. Would recommdend for a theater sight seeing get a way.”

• Central location, clean rooms, comfortable beds. Great view!
• No mini-fridge. Expensive rates.

“The rooms were clean, pleasantly decorated with a great view of times square. The location was perfect for 12-year-olds. Right in the middle of the action. And also close to the subway. The elevators were super fast. The staff was pleasant and quick. I love that they have two Starbucks in the building. We would stay here again.”

• Horrible buffet. Central areas unattractive and impersonal.

“We stayed for one night to have a quick getaway and go out with friend who live in NYC. It was perfect! Walked everywhere enjoyed the bar the room was clean comfortable and quiet at night. Definitely visit again soon.”
