“It is a clean and tiny hotel.It is too noisy because its located in Time Square, so you might be difficult to sleep.But it is convenient for shopping and watch the Broadway shows.”

“Time has worn the old classic from chic into shack. The front desk staff
is very sweet, attentive and on it. Desperately in need of the basics, like paint and carpet, and stucco on some of the walls. Great location.”

• Very interesting and urban lobby.
• Room was very small, but expected for price in NYC.

“The Paramount is a good value in the severely overheated pricey NYC market. The lobby is very hip (neo-Goth, urban), ditto the lounge. The rooms, by contrast, are small.”

“This hotel was not fit for a homeless person! It was filthy, disgusting. One of the staff members had event mentioned that they get more complaints than compliments. The shower did not work, not to mention the fact that is was dirty. The carpets were so filthy that I would not remove my shoes in the room. This hotel should be shut down & condemned for lack of cleanliness.”

• Very nice lobby area.
• The hotel room was extremely small, unlike anything I have seen.

“The Paramount hotel was nice however I was not satisfied with the room size. The room was the size of a walk in closet. It might have had a flat screen TV on the wall but it was so small that there was no place to even keep my luggage. On top of this there was an IPOD radio that did not work, a lamp that was broken, and there was an odd light in the room that would not turn off all night.”

• The location was excellent to the Times Square District.
• The room size was 12' x 12' and unsuitable for occupancy.

“The hotel was clearly outdated and so dimly lit it was depressing and difficult to navigate. The hotel staff was slow to serve. The room sizes were disgracefully small and the beds felt like packed cardboard. The AC made a constant hum and kept us awake and if I turned the AC off the room stunk and was stuffy because it was so small. I am extremely disappointed.”

“Overall we had a wonderful stay. The room was small (as expected for the middle of NYC) but very clean. The room itself seemed to have been recently remodeled but the bathroom fixtures were older and parts of the tub were chipped. There were no problems with water pressure or temperature. Our view was of scaffolding but there was no construction going on the two days of our stay. The room was very quiet given the Paramount's location in the middle of Times Square. The only strange occurrence during our stay was the banging noise right outside our room that went on from about 7am to 10:30am. When we went outside we saw there was a cleaning lady shoving items into a closet that backed our room and a service door that slammed loudly. When we asked her to quiet down a bit, she apologized telling us that she didn't know anyone was staying on the floor and that the rooms are usually empty. This was strange, but we thought that it may be due to the hotel's renovations. Best attribute of this hotel - the location can't be beat for a weekend getaway to NYC.”

• I did like the location but other than location I was very unhappy.
• The rooms could use paint and the bed was on the floor. They didn't have any chest of drawers to unpack your clothes. The halls were dark.

“I am sure someone could make this a lovely hotel but the minute you walk in it needed more lightning. The furniture was mismatched and it was very dark and dreary. The bathroom in the lobby needed to be cleaned. The room was not very nice and the bed was on the floor. It did have two chairs and a table and the chairs were not comfortable. The hotel needs a lot of upkeep.”

• I was in a good location.
• The room was hot and small.

“The room is very small and the air-condition was not even turned on. The bed is on the floor and there is not much of a floor. The hallway was dirty and there is not fan in the bathroom. I would say that overall I would not pay to stay at this hotel again.”

• The hotel was convenient and although spare in luxury it met our needs nicely.
• The public areas and elevators could be better lit. The ambience thing doesn't really work.

“Big people. Small world! Although we poked some fun at the size of the room, it absolutely met our needs, was clean and comfortable. We spend most of our time taking in the sights of NYC and use the room only to rest. The great location mattered most to us and the hotel's unique character won us over.”

• The lobby had an eclectic mix of chairs that made me want to sit in all of them for at least 5 minutes.
• Neither the elevators nor the hallways were air conditioned. The lobby was AC but not at a comfortable temperature.

“If you are traveling solo the hotel is great. Because of the less than comfortable temperature of the lobby I can only imagine that the in-hotel restaurant tables which were in a loft of the lobby that the dining experience may be less than comfortable if you were wearing more than a t-shirt and shorts. I would stay there again but just expect to be unimpressed.”

• The location is great, about 0.1 miles from Times Square.
• It is more like a motel, rather than a two-star hotel.

“If you are young people and want to go everywhere by foot, this hotel is ideal. But if you and your family want to have a leisure vacation, maybe pay more money and choose another hotel.”

“Great location. Great staff and really nice lobby. Coffee shop was very clean and served food at a very reasonable cost. Rooms are very small and do need updating. Beds are best for people six feet tall and under.”

“The Hotel is in the perfect location in the heart of the Theatre District with great access to the subway. The Hotel was hip, trendy and fun. The staff was always ready, willing and able to help. This was a great experience.”

“I stayed at the Paramount at 235 W 46th Street from December 9-11, 2004. It was a dump.The hotel was sold over the summer after I booked the room. It was supposed to be a four star hotel but was barely a 1 1/2 star. The room was small even for NY. The heat did not work in my room. It only comes on every half hour or so for the building. (It's an old boiler system.) There was a draft through the window. There was no iron, coffee maker, cups, ice bucket or machines, no vending machines or dresser. The lights were extremely dim in the room.Towels were limited due to water. The room was dingy. This hotel should not have appeared on the 3 star listings in midtown west.”

“All in all the paramount was not a bad place to stay. The location was great, about a block off of time square, the Paramount Bar was very cool and cozy. I did use the complimentary fitness room which was nice and they did provide hand towels, ice water and fruit. If the comfort of the room matters this is not the best place. The rooms are very small, the beds are very hard, the pillows are very thin. We did hear horror stories of other NY hotels, so for the price I was pleased and it was tolerable for a long weekend.”

“The rooms at the Paramount Hotel are small. The beds are very low and close to the floor. This makes them very difficult to get off of for someone who has arthritis or similar issues. We arrived well past the 3PM check-in time and the room was still not ready. The doormen were very helpful. They provided lots of assistance in finding transportation within the city as well as to/from the airport. In addition, all the information/directions/suggestions for local stores to visit was very useful.”

“This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in! Even though the room was expectedly very small, it could have been furnished so much more efficiently. There was no place to put anything; no drawers, only a tiny nightstand (about 8inches wide). The tall cabinet took up considerable floor space. That space could have been used for a chest of drawers. We felt this was totally unnecessary in such a small hotel room. The bathroom, although its size was adequate was also appointed poorly. Strange shelving (very difficult to use), no towel bars, etc.”

“The Paramount Hotel is an excellent location for Broadway plays and sightseeing in NYC. The staff is friendly and the premises and rooms are clean. Our problem was the room was tiny. We had to shuffle our luggage around to get in the tiny closet and to open the door to the room. If you are only staying a night or two then you probably wouldn't have as much luggage as we had for 6 nights.”

“The Paramount has a modern European feel. It is very clean and the staff members are exceptional. The only problem is that the hotel will be under new management soon and will be a Hard Rock hotel. I am sure that the prices will skyrocket.”
