• Beautiful hotel, room and priced right. Close to subways.

“We were very pleased with the Holiday Inn on 57th Ave. Beautiful lobby, restrooms and rooms with all amenities, including soda and ice machines. Great, safe location near subways. Would definitely recommend and will stay there again. Price was very reasonable.”

“I travel to New York at least six times a year and have had some disappointing experiences with hotels the past few times. This was a really pleasant experience. The room was one of the most spacious I have ever had in NYC and the staff was efficient and nice. A very pleasant experience.”

• It was close to the activities we wanted to take advantage of.
• No curtins on windows and small room, food/drink very expensive.

“The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location was excellent for walking around town and attending shows. The room only had shear curtains on the windows, so privacy was an issue. The bathrooms were very small and difficult to move around in. Would have liked full size pillows on the bed.”

• Staff was very helpful especially concierge. Nice location & close to eatery/stores.
• Our single room had small bathroom & awkward closet access.

“We enjoyed our stay at Holiday Inn Midtown. The location was convenient enough to get out to Times Square & other places, yet it was not so crowded around the immediate neighborhood. On 17th floor we didn't hear sirens or horns (typical in NYC). Their restaurant is not bad -- just basic fare offered. They really need a better computer hook-up for guests. My unit was slow. The cleaning staff was very cordial and respectful. The hotel also looks very nice from the street.”

• Very friendly staff, helpful concierge, nice pool, clean room.
• Bathroom was a little small.

“This was a great hotel to bring the family to. It was only 2 blocks from the Subway and convenient to many locations by walking. The hotel staff was very friendly and happy to answer many questions about my first trip to New York. The concierge told us about a great little restaurant that was a huge hit with the whole family and was only $38 for 4 people! Nice roof top pool for a mid-day getaway with a small pool side bar. The room service food was also very good and reasonably priced.”

• Price was too high. Pool closed too early. No way to conserve on use of water and new towels each day. Need Green program!

“There is about a half mile walk to each activity we needed to get to. The rooms were clean and spacious. The staff was very friendly. For the price we would have appreciated some kind of continental breakfast. They did provide coffee and the numerous stores and restaurants in the area helped us get what we needed.”

• Safe, friendly, accommodating.
• The bartender at times left her station and people had to wait for their order. Some of them just left. She was not very attentive or friendly.

“As weekend visitors for cultural events, we appreciate the proximity to the theater district and Lincoln Center. The Valet parking and weekend rates a definite plus. The bath and shower could use an upgrade and as breakfast lovers, an appealing in-house venue would be appreciated. But we'll be back.”

• The free breakfast we purchased cost us $28.00. They did not honor the terms of our reservation.

“The Holiday Inn is an a great location if you are hoping to explore the West Side and Central Park. It is also within walking distance of great restaurants in Hell's Kitchen and proximate to Times Square, should you want to torture yourself there. The hotel is loud thin doors, thin walls so be prepared for that particular challenge. However, the rooms are comfortable, so if you do fall asleep, you will likely stay that way. Beware the breakfast deal. We bought a package with breakfast included but the hotel refused to honor it. Alas, only after we had eaten our $10 bowls of oatmeal.”

• It was ideally situated for the Theatre District and provided convenient parking.
• It was showing its age a bit.

“It is what it is, but for Manhattan it is just fine. The staff was friendly and professional and the bartender was exceptional. It is conveniently located for visiting the Theatre District and was clean. If you are expecting upscale or are a snob go somewhere else.”

• Morning Spanish accent staff, there were no refrigeration nor microwave in the room, these accommodations should have been provided.

“The evening staff at check-in was friendly and professional. But the morning staff with that Spanish speaking accent, heavy-set female was not professional. She was obnoxious! She was asked to lower her voice while discussing information with me, because I value confidentiality even if I'm discussing Dr.Suess, "The Cat In The Hat." But she didn't get it. Her voice continues to soar.”

• The hotel had free internet and was confidently located.
• I wanted a non-smoking room with 2 beds I ended up with a smoking room and a lot of haggling to get 2 beds.

• The staff was helpful and friendly with exception of the forced valet attendant.
• I was unaware that my vehicle would be taken from me and I would be unable to access anything that I may need in it.

“I would never stay at this hotel again nor would I recommend this hotel for anyone. I ended up having to call hotel security for the domestic disturbance that was taking place in the room adjoining mine and directly across the hall. The walls in my room vibrated from the slamming and jarring of the doors being slammed. This was the worse stay of any hotel I have ever visited. I am sorely disappointed in the hotel not taking care of the problem and ruining my night. It caused me to miss an important early morning appointment due to sleep deprivation. No doubt I would avoid this hotel especially at the price I paid to stay in NY and spend time in the city.”

Unfortunately, upon checking in (5/12/07) we were told the air conditioning throughout the hotel was out and would not be fixed for quite awhile; they were having problems getting a license to bring in a heavy-lift crane. Luckily it was a cool weekend. Might want to check with them to make sure it's been fixed before you book.”

“Lobby stuffy. In room: air conditioning did not work and windows opened only two inches without screens so room was very stuffy. Television remote did not work but staff supplied second remote; when it did not work either, housekeeping sent engineer to adjust TV. The next day the TV would not turn off. The room itself was apparently clean but saw a mouse on the second night. Reported all the above to front desk; staff chagrined but did not offer reimbursement for a room clearly overpriced.”

• The doormen were very nice and the room service menu was budget priced.
• The concierge was rather imperious instead of being friendly and helpful.

“First of all this was just a spur of the moment spring break trip for us. After reading the reviews I thought this maybe a nice place to stay with my two older teen aged children due to its proximity to times square etc. Upon arriving I realized the reviews were all written by people who have never been to NYC before. It was over priced, beds were uncomfortable, the room was stifling hot--couldn't control the thermostat.”

“I had a good stay at the holiday inn midtown. The rooms were clean and surprisingly big for a nay city hotel room. The staff on hand was very friendly and helpful.”
