• The hotel was appealing and the location was great.
• The smoking room forced us to change rooms and the size was too small.

“I was pleasantly surprised this standard of hotel was located in SoHo. It was the centerpiece of our stay. We found the staff to be helpful and courteous. We originally were given a smoking room. This was unacceptable. Us as a couple were only given the option to transfer into a twin single room, which obviously was a tight fit. Lastly, there was a light issue. No fixtures, just desk lamps made for a room that was hard to see in.”

• The location was awesome, very close to Chinatown and the Subway. Great for those who want to visit NYC by foot.
• Smoking room, we were sick as soon as the elevator doors opened. Too much smoke odor!

“A basic hotel in an awesome location. Little Italy and Chinatown are at walking distance, while the Subway us just half a block away. What I did not like was the smoking room we stayed (we do not smoke) and the noisy people from the room nearby that scare us when they tried to open the connecting door. But, besides that, the location was great!”

“The Holiday Inn Hotel Downtown NY had excellent location, right on the Nexus of Soho, Chinatown, and Little Italy, and just a short walk away from Tribeca and Chelsea with a Subway stop nearby to boot. The staff was amazingly friendly, helpful, and efficient. Everything was very clean and tastefully decorated. Every once in a while you could feel the Subway passing by underneath, but it was nowhere near noticeable enough to be bothersome. To me it just added to the overall flavor of the city. Overall, it was quite an enjoyable stay. Thumbs up!”

“Hotel is in the Chinatown / SoHo District of NYC and it's connected. I liked the size of the room and the bathroom and at night it was much quieter than mid-town. Great place to stay and I intend to return. Good access to Subway and NYU, so great.”

• The staff was very nice, the decor was attractive.
• My room was stifling hot with heat on at its lowest setting-freezing with heat off.

“The room was extremely tiny-if I hadnt been alone-it would have been impossible. Unable to control temp to a comfortable level. And there was a very funny smell in the hall way -overpowering. However desk staff and bartender and bellhops all nice pleasant helpful.”

“Nice hotel. Convenient. Right around the corner from Little Italy and China Town. They parked our car, gave us a number to call when we needed it back. Everything was accurate. They also held our bags all day, even after we had checked out. Very friendly staff.”

“Our vacancy in the Holiday Inn was very nice. From the hotel you get in two minutes to the metro and you arrive in less then 30 minutes everything in Manhattan. The hotel was clean and is good to stay for a whole week.”

“The staff was nice and pleasant. The location was decent and you could find parking on the street on a weekend if you tried. However, if you are spending any time at all in the room, you're going to laugh. You can barely walk around the bed without hitting the wall. These are the smallest rooms Ive ever seen, even by NY standards. Still, its nice for a good price overall.”

• Housekeeping took a while to deliver additional towels and the vending machines took our money.

• The location is perfect (near little Italy, Chinatown, Soho etc.) Including train connections (Canal Str.) For family leisure traveler.
• Buffet breakfast (now about 20 USD/person) is expensive and should be included in the high room charge.

“For the leisure family traveler the location of the hotel is perfect: budget meals in Chinatown and in little Italy. The beds are comfortable but the fax is unnecessary nowadays: still wireless internet connections get cut off sometimes. Ordinary buffet breakfast is too expensive (about 20 USD) and should be included in the room charge.”

• Starbucks was 1 block away.
• The location was Chinatown, not Soho like it said.

“While the staff was friendly, the rooms (we were moved once) were not impressive in the least. Location was horrible and we did not always feel safe in the area. We paid way too much for what we got with this hotel.”

• Comfortable beds, quiet, clean room, friendly staff, and great location.
• Lobby on second floor, couldn't check out on TV set, no vent in bathroom, small rooms, lousy coffee in room.

“I was pleasantly surprised. My previous experiences with holiday inns were awful-noisy, malodorous, ugly rooms. This hotel was in a great neighborhood, our room was quiet and clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff was excellent. My only complaints were: there was no ventilation in the bathroom, the room was quite small, there was no bureau, and the in-room coffee was terrible. I will definitely stay there again because it's good value and a great location.”

• Bad, musty odor in the rooms.

“Seemed expensive for what it was. The major problem I had w/ the hotel is that the rooms had a horrible, musty stench in them. Our room smelled terribly and we asked to be changed to another room. We did change; however, the 2nd room smelled exactly the same. If it hadn't been for smell, our stay would have been fine.”

“The hotel was nice, nothing too fancy and it was clean and the location was great. I believe that for $330 we should have gotten the room we wanted. You lost a customer and I will tell everyone about my experience.”

“Hotel calls itself Holiday Inn Soho but really should be Holiday Inn Chinatown. Not most fabulous neighborhood. Right at subway stop so easy to go anywhere from there. Staff very helpful and attentive. Unfortunately place was completely booked and we got a tiny smoke-filled room for the first two nights. After that they moved us in to a nice smoke-free room while we were out. Adequate but not amazing hotel.”

• The beds were very comfortable and it was quiet
• The public areas were minimal and amenities few

“Although the room was comfortable the hotel offers little by way of amenities. This isn't such a drawback given that the location of the hotel, which is right at the intersection of solo, Chinatown, little Italy and the bowery. The concierge was also very helpful and friendly.”

• Directions and hints by staff! Quick elevators! Allowed us to use microwave in restaurant.
• Dirty hotel, parking, room size, and lack of amenities.

“Hotel floors and hallways were disgusting! The only clean place was the lobby. Staff was never around for help! Her directions and tips for sights were so helpful! Valet took forever to retrieve car. Surrounding area was not safe for anyone. Coffee maker was under TV and it was hard to reach and use. No trash bags were provided for trash cans. Even though we had three people and were placed in a room with only a double bed, it was a very miserable stay with not enough room to sleep! When asked about it the hotel wanted to charge us to have two doubles.”

• The bell hops were awesome and very helpful.
• Breakfast manager was lousy.

“Most restaurants have a free continental breakfast. There was nothing to indicate otherwise with this place until we got the 46 dollar bill for two people that included a 6.50 tip for a buffet that was not worth the 17.95 you had to pay even if you were like my wife who had a bowl of cheerios. This left a sour taste in our mouth and we would not go back there again. The breakfast manager said, I know, 90% of the people that eat our breakfast think it is free. Nothing is free here." to which I said put out a sign if 90% think that.”

• Immediate neighborhood is not great.

“The neighborhood is not terrible, but not particularly attractive or tourist oriented (thought the famed canal street cheap shopping is just steps away). Soho is creeping south and it is possible to walk north to some decent restaurants and retail. The hotel staff are very pleasant and attentive. The facility is clean but somewhat faded. ”

“Great location if you want to be near little Italy, bargain shopping, it is in Chinatown. Room was very small for 2 beds, staff was friendly and helpful! Concierge was very helpful with getting around the whole city, subway was right nearby. It was pretty much what I expected from the area. If you want a clean, simple room, this is the place. Overall, very happy with the place.”

“My room reeked of cigarette smoke and I could not sleep. I could not be moved the first night, so I was miserable. The next night I was moved into an acceptable room. Staff were all excellent.”
