• The ambiance and staff were superb.
• Bathtub safety-slippery, no grab bars, difficult to control water temp, room.

“From the time of our arrival the staff, with one exception on Sunday morning, was helpful and hospitable. The room was good-sized and very comfortable. It would have helped to have a separate top sheet, however, as the bedding was all encased in a duvet cover, and when it got too warm for all the covering at once, there was no choice to simply have a sheet. The bathroom pedestal sink was great, but the bathtub was a bit dangerous. The temperature control for the shower/tub was tricky and the tub bottom was not really slip-proof. No rubber mat, no grab bars. Not a good situation. The lobby was "Pacific Rim goes Southwest", and really attractive. Overall a good experience.”

• Very hip, and cool. Extremely friendly staff, very welcoming and concerned.
• Location was a little out of the way for NYC, but this may also add to the attractiveness and uniqueness of hotel.

“Exceeded my expectations! Beautiful large rooms, monster flat screen TV was on with Zen like welcoming video for me when I arrived. Very nice. Staff was extremely good looking, and made me feel as if I was the most important person they had ever dealt with.”

“I was kind of apprehensive about hotels in NYC, but Guildhall hotel surprised me with its cleanliness, comfortability, and friendly staff. When asked my 12 years old son what he liked most from NYC, he said the hotel. The room had a good size flat screen TV, a little refrigerator with beverages and a snack bar.”

“It turned out to be a beautiful facility with a lovely room. All recent renovations, very helpful staff, and even a free continental breakfast (unusual in New York). Its location is a little awkward, but I'd gladly stay here again.”

• Incredibly clean, high ceilings, interesting bathroom doors & toiletries, great chandelier & big bed, lots of light control, no noise, a treat!
• It was in the financial district, which isn't super appealing to me but not a bad location overall. The pillows were too soft and mushy for my taste.

“What a great find! A clean new hotel, one block from the subway. Rooms are a stylish mix of modern and traditional with unexpected door and headboard choices. The bed was expansive and comfortable and the room was practically soundproof. We couldn't hear NYC outside. High ceilings and a chandelier added to the ambiance. A flat screen on the wall and lots of lighting control made for a great stay.”

“The hotel is located on a small street in the Financial District and therefore not so easy to find (And we are both ex-New Yorkers). The staff at check-in was very friendly and the room/bathroom was beautiful / comfortable. Fresh coffee and delicious pastries were available for breakfast and were complimentary. We had a great stay and we highly recommend this hotel.”

• The hotel staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The room was immaculately clean.
• One annoyance was the renovations being done - I was woken by a power drill at 10am coming from the room directly above my bed.

“The Gild Hall Hotel is an amazing place. For Manhattan, it would be hard to find a better place like this. The room was incredibly clean and the staff was so friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again in future travels to NYC.”

“Ultra-hip, cool little boutique hotel in the Financial District. Close to trains and Broadway. "European" feel with hip rooms, marble bathrooms and funky modern library-like lounge. Room was quiet and comfortable in spite of hotel construction. Would definitely return.”

• The hotel staff were friendly, it's a good location and the rooms were clean and comfortable.
• There are not many choices for late night dining in the area and the hotel does not yet offer an alternative.

“Gild Hall is, at first glance, an interesting mix of modern, eclectic decor which gives it a boutique kind-of-feeling in the lobby. You realize however, just how big it really is once you board the elevator which has not changed and still feels like an office building. The rooms, however, have also been remodeled and once again echo the modern mix evoked in the lobby. It suited our stay well, in this instance as a couple without children for a weekend in the city.”

“This hotel was my worst experience at any hotel I have ever attempted to stay with. I used to be away on business over 300 days of the year staying in different hotels minimum of 2 different hotels per week for over 3 years. Not once have I experienced a hotel with staff so rude, and an unhygienic atmosphere. I will never recommend this hotel or any hotel in their chain to anyway, if anything I will explain what my experience was.”

“Excellent up and coming hotel. Looking forward to seeing it in its full bloom with all the amenities. The rooms are well-appointed with many luxurious comforts, such as gourmet snacks, high-end toiletries and a large flat screen TV. the service at this hotel is top-notch. You can tell that the staff has undergone a quality training program and strive for excellence in their execution of customer service.”

“Recently refurbished and in a soft opening period. Lobby just opened the week before our stay and restaurant will not open until September. Not my top choice of location, but conveniently located near Fulton St. subway stop. Staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The manager was very visible and quizzed me several times about my stay. Rooms are among the more spacious I have ever had in Manhattan.”

• The hotel staff was the friendliest people I encountered in NYC.
• The elevators were rarely working & the stairwells were cluttered with wires/ladders/etc. Very unsafe conditions at times.

“This may be a lovely hotel when renovations are completed. Staff was very friendly and helpful with directions, where to eat, and transportation. The location is convenient and a nice change of pace during the weekends when lower Manhattan quiets down. I would definitely recommend this hotel when the renovation is completed. However, given the hotel is undergoing renovations now, I felt more attention should have been given to ensuring guests are safe and accommodated during this time. It felt the staff may be tired of the renovations and are using them as an excuse to be lazy - it's easier to apologize for the disruption than fix the problems. For example, The only 2 elevators were often out of service - having nothing to do with the renovations. Completely unacceptable to me to have to drag bags up and down 9 floors and then when the elevators were not working, I almost fell down the concrete stairwell because they were cluttered with ladders, electrical wires & tools. If the elevators aren't working, why are you working in the stairwell? The situation was absolutely unsafe and unnecessary!”

• Friendly, courteous, helpful staff. Was upgraded to a suite for no particular reason. Very comfortable and quiet.
• There was nothing I did not like.

“Truthfully, I was a little nervous as I had not heard of this hotel and no one I spoke to seemed to have heard of it. I was worried it would be a little scary and I'd have to share a bathroom with other people on my floor. To my utter surprise and delight, this hotel was chic, clean, the room and bathroom looked brand new as if no one had ever stayed there before. Fresh flowers, flat screen TV's. This hotel far surpassed my expectations.”

“I was told the construction wouldn't interfere with my stay as they were finished except the restaurant. When I checked in to my 16th floor room, 2 minutes later there was loud buzz sawing from the next room. I called the front desk to request another room. They told me the noise would end at 4 PM that day (Friday) and be until 4 PM on Sat. as well. This was unacceptable and so they did finally give me another room on another floor. This was an upgrade to a larger room and everything was fine. -- Also, one elevator out of two was working, because of construction and this led to long waits at times for the elevator! The hotel will be VERY NICE when construction is completed. That was the bad, but generally. Once I was settled; the room was very nice with excellent maid service and very nicely appointed rooms.”

“The hotel is located in the lower side of Downtown near the South Street Seaport, close to a subway station and about 1/2 hour from either JFK or LaGuardia airports. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful in arranging excursions/seeing attractions. The interior design and rooms are boutique and very tastefully done. I would highly recommend this hotel.”

“I and my girlfriend loved the hotel, especially for the price. Our room was very spacious and chic and modern, unlike the generic feel that you get at a lot of places. The staff was very helpful. The doorman even ran up and down the street to fetch us a taxi that accepted cc. The location is only a couple subway stops from midtown and the upper east side and there's a subway stop two blocks from the hotel. Great bang for your buck w/o spending all of your bucks.”

• The staff was more than accommodating. The room was beyond what we expected.
• Needed a soap dish in the shower. The address and the actual location were two different things, so it was a bit of a pain to find.

“My partner and I would stay at this hotel in the future. It met more than our needs. It was a bit of a pain to find, but once we found it, it was fantastic. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious and well appointed. The extras and the typicals in the room (terry cloth robes, soap, shampoo, conditioner + q-tips and cotton balls) were beyond 3-star rating.”

• The glass wall of the bathroom did not offer as much privacy as desired.

• Slow elevator - only 1 in operation. No restaurant yet.

“Ideal for anyone that would like to be in the financial district but a bit of a hike to get to midtown from this area. However, the hotel is just blocks away from the subway. Since the hotel is being renovated, there was no restaurant at the time and only one working elevator. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The king room was very modern, clean, spacious, had upscale bath products, flat screen tv, and a safe. One thing - the bathroom door is translucent so you can see what the other person is doing in the bathroom. OK if you are with your spouse but probably a little uncomfortable if you are with a friend. Overall an awesome hotel and I'd happily stay here again.”

“Gild Hall was a great place to stay for my weekend visit to NYC. The staff really is amazing: When I read such in other reviews, I thought it mere exaggeration, but the staff in fact is incredibly helpful and friendly. (And special kudos to Chester, Guy, and Carmelo!) The rooms are clean and comfy, though some people may find them a tad small. The room I had lacked sufficient closet and drawer space for clothing, though such space could be created without much problem. The mini-bar took a lot of room, and I had to disable the mini-bar closet light because it automatically turned on and off, even when I shut the closet door with hopes of not activating the sensor. But all of this aside, the room was fine. Renovations to the lobby and other common spaces were still occurring during my stay, but my sleep or enjoyment of the place wasn't disrupted at all. It was a great place, and I would consider staying there again even if the rates are higher (and if I have the $ to do so).”

• Wonderful new room, excellent staff. They could not have been friendlier. Great location just off Wall st.
• The hotel lobby and rest. are still under construction, though they have agreements with some local businesses to provide facilities until there are.

“You can't beat this place for the price. The only drawback is that, the public spaces are still under construction and they are using a temporary lobby. The rooms are wonderful, the location is great, and the staff is one of the friendliest I have encountered.”

• Incredible staff, clean, newly renovated, what a bargain.
• Elevator was extremely slow, due to contractors and there was only one elevator in service.

“Highly recommend this hotel to anyone. It was a pleasure staying there. The only issue, but I'm not complaining because I got the room for a steal, was that it was being renovated throughout the public space. But they made as many amenities as possible (fitness center wasn't available so we went across the street to a Gold's gym. Restaurant not available, but you could go across the street and use another restaurant and get 10% discount.”

“My fiancée and I had a fantastic experience at The Gild Hall. The staff was exceptionally friendly, I was literally blown away. The room was great - wooden floors, large flat screen TVs, large shower, and amazing products from 'Fresh'. The hotel does need a restaurant which is coming this Spring from Todd English. When the renovation is complete (new lobby and restaurant) this hotel will even better. Highly recommended!”

• When the remodeling is finished this will be convenient hotel for the financial district but I can't see it as a leisure type destination.
• Unbelievable construction noise, not from the hotel, but the neighborhood.
