• Free breakfast in the AM, brownies in the PM and twice daily maid service.
• Difficult to read email and watch TV simultaneously.

“Just four Subway stops from Penn Station, this new, modern, and stylish hotel is only a stone's throw away from New York's Financial District but is perfect for a weekend in the city. Far from the noise, traffic, and frenzy of midtown, the neighborhood is quiet but with an interesting nightlife. The staff is thoughtful, polite, and helpful. The furnishings and service were so nice; I didn't want to go home.”

• The location was not so great.

“I thought this hotel was perfect for my visit to New York. The staff was friendly and very helpful and the room was amazing and very clean. The only negative comment I have is the location. It was fine during the day when I would leave to go site seeing. However, when I was out at night with friends the cab drivers had trouble finding the hotel and our first night we ended up getting out of the cab and wandering around for 20 minutes looking for it. Maybe that is the cab driver's fault, but either way, I was very pleased with my overall experience and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone I know.”

• Excellent staff, friendly and helpful. Thank you to the cleaning lady who found my friends jacket in the room.
• Not known to people in New York, so bring a map of the hotel location.

“Excellent hotel, great staff, very clean. Most people in New York did not know were the hotel was so bring a map of the hotel with you when you go out. Our taxi cab driver did not know were the hotel was.”

• The room was clean, good space for NYC and nicely decorated. Lobby was quaint with great staff that is ready to help.
• The street is on and is kind of hard to get to. Most taxis/ shuttles have a challenging time getting to it.

“The room I stayed at was nicely decorated, great accommodations for the price. The staff was ready to provide information and help out any way they could. It's very much like a boutique hotel. The only issue is that the kitchen was not finished so room service was from a restaurant close by. Other than that, I recommend this hotel to everyone.”

• Friendly staff, excellent service, clean, convenient location! It was Awesome!
• Restaurant was being renovated so we had to order from a grill a cross the street, which was a bit inconvenient and food was not that good!

“We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would recommend it to anyone. The staff was extremely friendly, courteous, and helpful. The modern decor was also neat, and the room/hotel were very clean. Conveniently located and great price.”

• So hard to find, completely tucked away.

“I would return in a second, despite the out of the way location. It was very clean, quiet, chicly decorated and the staff could not have been more helpful. We arrived super late (almost midnight) and they offered us an inexpensive upgrade to a suite, which I took. They jumped on every request-ice, an iron and ironing board-at 1 am, with a smile. They held our bags without complaint after check out so we could join a friend for brunch and walk around the city. I did see some families checking in but it's definitely more of a couples/travel with friends or business traveler type place. The lobby is tiny, and the restaurant and bar are still not open, meaning there are no common areas at all.”

• Great location right near Battery Park, Ferry for statue of liberty.
• Better suited to business travelers, couples, restaurant not open.

“Great location, very nicely decorated, rooms are small but cool decor. Perfect for business traveler to wall street, or couple. If traveling with kids is close to South street Seaport, statue of liberty and Ellis island ferries, as well as Ground zero, Trinity Church, Federal Reserve, American Stock exchange. The waterfront is great to bring a picnic, watch the boats, listen to music, enjoy the view!”

“Very nice refurbished boutique hotel. The rooms are superb and clean, though small. The whole staff is real helpful and friendly. It will be even better when the restaurant is open. I will go back there for my next week-end in NYC.”

• The rooms were beautiful and well maintained. Staff is very friendly and eager to help.
• Check in time (3 pm) is a bit late, but staff was accommodating and held bags.

“This hotel is a great find in New York's Financial District. Every staff member was polite and willing to help. The front desk helped us get around town and find places to eat. The rooms are modern and include a flat screen TV. The bathrooms are very clean and spacious.”

• The only complaint, and I'm reaching, is that the square glasses are awkward!

“A wonderful hotel that will only get better when the Todd English restaurant is completed. It has the nicest staff and the cleanest rooms and largest bathrooms you'll find in NY. The Subway is 1 1/2 blocks away.”

• Housekeeping forgot to make up our room but did take care of it promptly when informed of the oversight.

“The hotel is conveniently located near the Subway and the seaport. Valet parking is available and we received friendly and quick service from the staff. The hotel rooms are spacious, well-appointed, and the bathrooms were tastefully decorated. We enjoyed the flat screen television and the I-pod radio in our room. I would definitely stay in this hotel again.”

• Nice feel (euro boutique hotel), very friendly staff, close to subway, safe neighborhood.
• Stayed two different weekends, first room was fabulous, second was nice but smaller and bathroom faced the bedroom & the wall is glass -- not private.

“I enjoyed my stay here very much, it was convenient (business in Chelsea area) to subway for uptown, a walk to the river front area, in a safe neighborhood (wall street area) and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!”

• It was just remodeled so everything was new and clean.
• It was farther away from where we wanted to be and was on a very narrow street almost like an alley.

“Our overall stay was very nice, as I said the place was just remodeled and everything was new and clean. I would have liked an ice machine on the floor instead of someone having to come to serve us.”

• The room was beautiful, with a custom look you won't find anywhere else.
• Parts of the hotel are still under construction.

“I enjoyed my stay. The hotel was conveniently located near the waterfront. Ferries and subway were within walking distance. The room was very clean and newly remodeled. Supplies were well stocked with everything I needed. I would love to come back when the construction is finished to see the end result!”

• Not enough morning coffee, etc. to accommodate guests.

“Exceeded our expectation for the price, loved the overall feel and design of lobby & room, convenient for the purpose of our trip, excellent value for the area, only negative was not enough morning coffee, tea, pastries to accommodate the number of guest although I realize this was due to renovations. Certainly would stay again when restaurant is complete.”

• Truly exquisite room- small, it is NYC- but with a window that actually opens and a super bed/bath.
• Construction! There is constant noise in lobby - they are apparently finishing a bar/restaurant- so there is no lobby space available.

“Very chic, great FIDI location- 2 blocks form Fulton St Subway- 4 to city hall-awful construction noise in lobby- but the rooms are whisper quiet-so in the end it is not a big deal.”

• Stylish and sleek decor, great location, and fabulous staff!

“We had a fantastic stay at Gild Hall and have already recommended it to friends and family. The accommodations are stylish, sleek, and quite comfortable, and the staff is fabulous. Their warmth and friendliness immediately made us feel welcome and at home. The location in the Wall Street district of Manhattan makes it convenient to hop on the subway or take a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood, have a great meal, and enjoy the local parks (with a great view of the river, too). We don't have a single complaint. The Gild Hall is fantastic all around, and we very much look forward to going back for another terrific stay!”

• Very convenient to Subway, parking facilities nearby, very safe neighborhood.
• They are in the process of renovating the hotel so our room smelled like varnish. We had to open the window due to the fumes.

“Great location and I got a great price. Close to the Subways, parking facilities are nearby, and the staff are very nice. I would stay there again. A couple of drawbacks to the family traveler. They are renovating the hotel into a "western chic" design which was rather odd and the bathroom doors are made of frosted glass-not very family friendly. Our room smelled like varnish but I expect that will dissipate after the renovations are complete.”

• Very large rooms for NY City-nicely decorated-staff were helpful & friendly.
• I was told at the front desk that the bellman would hail a cab-instead he called a car service.

• The ambiance and staff were superb.
• Bathtub safety-slippery, no grab bars, difficult to control water temp, room.

“From the time of our arrival the staff, with one exception on Sunday morning, was helpful and hospitable. The room was good-sized and very comfortable. It would have helped to have a separate top sheet, however, as the bedding was all encased in a duvet cover, and when it got too warm for all the covering at once, there was no choice to simply have a sheet. The bathroom pedestal sink was great, but the bathtub was a bit dangerous. The temperature control for the shower/tub was tricky and the tub bottom was not really slip-proof. No rubber mat, no grab bars. Not a good situation. The lobby was "Pacific Rim goes Southwest", and really attractive. Overall a good experience.”

• Very hip, and cool. Extremely friendly staff, very welcoming and concerned.
• Location was a little out of the way for NYC, but this may also add to the attractiveness and uniqueness of hotel.

“Exceeded my expectations! Beautiful large rooms, monster flat screen TV was on with Zen like welcoming video for me when I arrived. Very nice. Staff was extremely good looking, and made me feel as if I was the most important person they had ever dealt with.”

“Excellent stay. Was rated 2 star not sure why it was a 4star! Staff made a point to know my name. Room was clean, neat, nice feel to it. Some subways closed on weekend but 2 blocks over on Fulton St was open easy access. Highly recommend!”

“I was kind of apprehensive about hotels in NYC, but Guildhall hotel surprised me with its cleanliness, comfortability, and friendly staff. When asked my 12 years old son what he liked most from NYC, he said the hotel. The room had a good size flat screen TV, a little refrigerator with beverages and a snack bar.”

“It turned out to be a beautiful facility with a lovely room. All recent renovations, very helpful staff, and even a free continental breakfast (unusual in New York). Its location is a little awkward, but I'd gladly stay here again.”

• Incredibly clean, high ceilings, interesting bathroom doors & toiletries, great chandelier & big bed, lots of light control, no noise, a treat!
• It was in the financial district, which isn't super appealing to me but not a bad location overall. The pillows were too soft and mushy for my taste.

“What a great find! A clean new hotel, one block from the subway. Rooms are a stylish mix of modern and traditional with unexpected door and headboard choices. The bed was expansive and comfortable and the room was practically soundproof. We couldn't hear NYC outside. High ceilings and a chandelier added to the ambiance. A flat screen on the wall and lots of lighting control made for a great stay.”

“The hotel is located on a small street in the Financial District and therefore not so easy to find (And we are both ex-New Yorkers). The staff at check-in was very friendly and the room/bathroom was beautiful / comfortable. Fresh coffee and delicious pastries were available for breakfast and were complimentary. We had a great stay and we highly recommend this hotel.”

• The hotel staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The room was immaculately clean.
• One annoyance was the renovations being done - I was woken by a power drill at 10am coming from the room directly above my bed.

“The Gild Hall Hotel is an amazing place. For Manhattan, it would be hard to find a better place like this. The room was incredibly clean and the staff was so friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again in future travels to NYC.”
