“We were provided with a small, smoking room with a view of the air conditioning unit for the hotel, which allowed little to no daylight. Apparently a non-smoking room was unavailable, and the smell of smoke, in both our room and the entire 5th floor, was prominent.” May 2, 2008 by
Keisha S. from Randallstown, MD
“Overall a great value for NYC - very clean, stylish and nicely sized room/suite and bathroom. Great customer service, though it is somewhat do-it-yourself (kiosks for check-in); free WiFi and computer terminal in clubroom just off the lobby is a nice touch, as is the complimentary bottle your own water station on your room floor. Word of caution, very challenging to get to (especially if on a tight time schedule) because of its location (Several Street closures on the weekend and heavy congestion during the weekdays). Also uptown train does is not always running so that is another thing to factor when trying to get to other parts of the city. Cabs were relatively (and surprisingly) easy to find either right outside the hotel or just a few blocks away.” Apr 30, 2008 by
Alice from King Of Prussia, PA
“Hotel is very clean and well appointed. Rooms are very small and only meant to accommodate two people. Staff was just ok - not very helpful.” Apr 28, 2008 by
MariaGT from Dallas, TX
“I recently stayed at this hotel and it was very surprising to find such a great rate at such a great place. The staff was very friendly and always courteous. The room was bigger than I thought and was very clean. They had 2 computers for guests to use down close to the lobby. One was out of commission when I got there but the other was working fine and was very convenient. They have a 30 minute limit which is very good that way you won't have to wait long in case you needed to use it. There wasn't much to see around the fin. District but we walked 2 blocks to get a taxi (they do not call cabs, only car service) as there never seems to be any that go by that hotel and it is about $12-15 dollars for the taxi to take you to Time Square. Last time I stayed at the Westin hotel in times square and it was very noisy even though we were up high in a club room. The Club Quarters hotel is so quiet at night, I loved it! I could actually sleep! There was no construction, no noisy people, no anything to keep me awake, thank goodness! I very much enjoyed my stay. They also have a binder which has several restaurants, one was a 24 hour deli on Water St. which has some awesome hamburgers and fries, and they also serve sandwiches and have a ton of bakery items. This is a good place in case you get hungry in the middle of the night although it's like 7 blocks away, but it's worth it.” Apr 21, 2008 by
Jason from Canyon Country, CA
“Aside from its great location, the hotel lacked any charm or class, a far cry from a typical 3 star hotel as it was advertised. The room was small and cramped, with just enough room to squeeze between the bed and your suit case. The closet was conveniently converted into a bathroom, while an Ikea style wardrobe substituted for the closet. The bed was sub par, and unless you enjoy the feeling of coil springs jutting into your back, the floor would provide a more comfortable nights rest. Need an extra blanket? Don't call the front desk, instead a "guest request closet" located in the hallway is supposed to have just what you need, but did not. One feature I did find quite convenient is that you could request an exercise bike be delivered to your room as an alternate to the fitness center. However, it would take a miracle of science and engineering to fit a stationary bike in the room. The overall problem is that a 3 star hotel is advertised, but a 2 star experience is what you get.” Apr 18, 2008 by
Jennifer from Calgary, AB CA
“I will never stay at this hotel. Staff broke into our room and searched our bags and provided no reasonable excuse for doing so. They declined a package, twice, that carried two ball tickets for us. The only reason we traveled to NYC for the weekend. I have now contacted NYC police to lodge a formal complaint against the hotel. Overall, one of the worst experiences I have ever had traveling.” Apr 18, 2008 by
Steve from New Boston, NH
“Convenient location with a distinctive quality. Pleasant scale and nicely appointed room. Liked the chilled purified water available in the hall.” Apr 16, 2008 by
Pierre from Montreal, QC CA
“Nice rooms with contemporary look and practical. Location ideal for Wall Street, but a bit out of the action for leisure.” Apr 16, 2008 by
Ellen from Elmhurst, IL
“Hotel is in the financial district which means the area is extremely quiet at night and during weekends. The hotel was very lovely, modern, comfortable, upscale, but the rooms are a bit small. However, we were offered an upgrade for both nights at a small fee that room was amazing! The hotel is close to all great areas & Subway. Staff was helpful and courteous. We will definitely stay there again!” Apr 16, 2008 by
David from Arlington, VA
“Not a great location (hard for even cabs to find). Small rooms. No bathrooms in the lobby. Not sure this is a 3-Star hotel.” Apr 11, 2008 by
Nick from Washington, DC
“Very good location near Wall St and the south side seaport shops. Also close to the subway and certainly quiet at the weekends.” Mar 25, 2008 by
Eli from Eugene, OR
“This is a place you could consider staying on business (close to subways, wall street), but it's very dark, even by NYC standards; in addition, a few amenities, such as in-room mini-bars and better coffee/refreshment service in the lounge would make a big difference. The staff is friendly and polite, but not terribly well-informed: I wasted 20 minutes waiting for a.m. hot water because no one knew that Con Ed had failed to restart hot water service on time; I was misdirected away from the Wall St. subway station, and there was no restaurant or bar or room service the weekend I was there.” Jan 20, 2008 by
Cameron from Toronto, ON CA
“Do not stay at this hotel. The bed sheets were ragged and torn and staff had to be coerced to change it for us. Staff on night shift are down-right rude. After our departure, The area is dead and uninteresting on the weekend.” Dec 14, 2007 by
Lonnie from Carlisle, MA
“This hotel is good for business travelers, not great for leisure travel. I felt it was very basic with small rooms; however the rooms had comfortable beds. The noise from the hallway (and room next door) could easily be heard and I was woken up from people coming in late even though they were not overly loud. The bathroom needed updating.” Dec 14, 2007 by
Leorah from Houston, TX
“It was o.k.” Dec 13, 2007 by
Jackie from Cheshire, CT
“Very easygoing and accommodating staff. The amenities are plentiful and good quality. Very clean and safe. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.” Dec 13, 2007 by
Walter from Exton, PA
“The place is ok. Excellent Downtown location on a quiet street, so there was very little ambient noise. The queen bed was tiny, more suitable for one than two persons. The room was acceptable with very little closet space; the furnishings were borderline but still acceptable. The bath was very compact with only a shower. The free wireless internet was a nice bonus touch.” Dec 13, 2007 by
Marc from Davie, FL
“Great modern decor, slightly larger than most hotel rooms in Manhattan. Very clean.” Dec 4, 2007 by
Teresa from Sparta, NJ
“Tough to get cabs. Room adequate, but dated and smelled unclean. Slow elevators.” Dec 4, 2007 by
Michael from Plymouth, MA
“The hotel was clean and efficient. Nothing spectacular, perfect for a business traveler looking to stay in the financial area of the city. Not convenient to the theater district.” Nov 8, 2007 by
Virginia from Seattle, WA
“It is a small, conveniently located hotel suited to travelers who will spend minimal amounts of time at the hotel or in the room. Air conditioner in room was old and loud, bathroom had limited toiletries, no bathtub. Queen sized bed was two small narrow twins pushed together with a large gap between the mattresses.” Nov 8, 2007 by
Samantha from Charleston, SC
“The hotel rooms were small but clean and comfortable. They had a hair dryer, coffee machine, iron etc. However there wasn't a fridge. I stayed with a friend and requested 2 beds rather than one and they were happy to oblige us with this. I would recommend it to anyone that wanted a hotel in Manhattan to sleep in, if you want to hang out in the room though you may want to find somewhere bigger.” Nov 4, 2007 by
C from Stafford, VA
“For the price I got to stay on Halloween night, I thought this was a great deal. It was close to the subway stop and was quieter at night than midtown. Don't overlook this location when planning your trip to the big apple!” Oct 30, 2007 by
Shannon from Marietta, GA
“The staff was friendly and helpful, clean rooms and comfortable bed.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Denise from Mukilteo, WA
“I would definitely stay at the hotel again. Great location, hassle free stay. Comfortable bed, nice linens, huge room!” Sep 24, 2007 by
Christiane from Durham, NC
“This hotel is great. The room was large (especially for NY standards), with a nice comfortable bed, good TV and a very nice shower and bathroom. I had stayed in a previous hotel in NY for about the same price and Club Quarters downtown is clearly a much superior one (the only note that the other was in Times Square). The location is also great, since you have a subway station in the next corner (lines 2 and 3, which drops you in the middle of Times Square, at Broadway with 42nd) and another one about 3 blocks away (lines 4 and 5). I went out after 9:00 pm with a friend to a pub nearby and it didn't seem to me that the street was either dark or unsafe. The only bad note is that in my first morning, there was some problem with the water and we were out of water for a shower or anything until close to 9:30am. But no problems for the next 3 days, though, so I guess it were just an unfortunate incident. I would definitely stay there again.” Sep 20, 2007 by
Hettie from Reston, VA
“The neighborhood is safe since police and security guards are present everywhere. The hotel is quiet, which is unusual for NYC. Although the rooms are small, they are clean with comfortable beds. If you just use the hotels for sleeping, it is a good place to stay, but I did not like spending too much time there during the day since the room we stayed in on the 5th floor was very dark due to limited light coming through the small window.” Sep 20, 2007 by
Jen from Lasalle, ON CA
“When we selected the lower Manhattan location we did not expect to get a hotel at the very bottom of the island. This hotel would have been perfect if it was not so far away from everything and the bathrooms would have been cleaner.” Sep 20, 2007 by
Eileen from Jackson, MI
“Club quarters was clean, neat, and wonderfully located hotel. The front-desk staff was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was entirely different. We ate breakfast there once. The service was poor and the eggs were overdone. And, it was expensive! Although we asked for water twice, it never came. It certainly blemished an otherwise positive hotel experience.” Sep 19, 2007 by
Owen from Washington, DC
“This hotel exceeded our expectations for the price. The room was clean, the fixtures were modern, the bed was comfortable and new, and the flat screen TV was a nice touch. Chilled water was even available down the hall. No complaints whatsoever.” Sep 19, 2007 by
Denise from Cheverly, MD
“Had a bit of a hassle with leaving my bag at the hotel for the day. Was told they normally charge for it, but they didn't charge me. Kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.” Sep 17, 2007 by
Jack from New York, NY
“Fine for an overnight stay not much more.” Sep 17, 2007 by
Peter from Morrisville, NC
“It's okay if it was cheaper. We could not sit on the toilet because it was placed right up against the wall so we had to go to the bathroom at the museum. We were an hour late for to pick up our car and my wife called ahead to let them know but they failed to tell us that they would charge us an extra day parking for the extra hour. Overall not happy.” Sep 8, 2007 by
Frances from Elk Grove, CA
“Great location and very accommodating front desk staff. Enjoyed the ability to grab a water bottle and go. Enjoyed to proximity to subway stations. Room was very clean and the size of the room was more than adequate.” Sep 5, 2007 by
Bill from Lexington, KY
“Nice cute hotel. Very basic on the 3rd star quality. The location was just not great. Dead at night, a bit scary to walk to in late hours and unless I was a stock trader not the best place to be in. Too far downtown for my tastes.” Sep 4, 2007 by
Joyce M. from Nahant, MA
“This hotel is perfect for business or leisure travel as long as you don't plan to spend a lot of time in the room - which is clean and attractive, but small. The room was more like a typical European hotel room.” Aug 29, 2007 by
Christina from Los Angeles, CA
“The Club Quarters Downtown feels like real New York, as if you lived there. The rooms are small, but are well designed, so you won't have a lack of space, and the staff goes out of their way to make their guests comfortable. The staff is happy and cheerful, and does their jobs well and professionally. The hotel is very convenient to the subway, and our stay was extremely pleasant!” Aug 28, 2007 by
Kate from Cockeysville, MD
“This business focused hotel worked fine for us with our little boy. The staff helped us with a crib. The room space is small, as you expect in NYC, but it is used well and feels very comfortable. We felt safe in the neighborhood and enjoyed our stay.” Aug 25, 2007 by
Jane from Oxford, CT
“Very elegant!” Aug 24, 2007 by
Lynette from American Canyon, CA
“Great hotel for business travelers.” Aug 24, 2007 by
Simon from Chevy Chase, MD
“Location is way out of everything. Stingy with bathroom and other supplies. No newspaper. Good free access to internet and computer use.” Aug 23, 2007 by
Glen H. from Troy, MI
“Good location for financial district. Room was clean, but very small. Could not open bathroom door and room door contemporaneously because room was so small. No bathtub either only shower. No pool.” Aug 23, 2007 by
Michelle from Brighton, MA
“As with all New York hotels space was pretty tight (the 1 armoire the room was so close to the bed you couldn't use some of the drawers), but they did a very nice job of making the small room feel welcoming. A big thumb up to the service level, the staff was friendly and accommodating at all times. A big thumb down to some amenities, there was no hot water in the showers and not enough towels for the number of people in the room. I also will warn you that the hotel recommends a parking garage that is hard to find. However, the hotel is not hard to locate, and is only 1/2 a block from the subway. There is also a drug store across the street, which was very convenient.” Aug 21, 2007 by
Lauren from Honey Brook, PA
“My first room's ac was broken, but I didn't realize this until 12:00 a.m. The hotel does not put the A.C. on in your rooms, so when I got to the room it was 80 degrees. I kept lowering the temp, and then fan was going. I left, and came back at 12, and the room was still 80. I called downstairs, and a maintenance person came within 5 minutes, and agreed that it was only a fan and that the ac was not working. He called downstairs, and we visited another room to see if the ac was working (it was) and they said I could move rooms. Then they left. I had to pack up my old room, and move, by myself with no offer of help (which really angered me!) Anyway, the room was bigger so not so tight.” Aug 15, 2007 by
Lew from Nashville, TN
“The location of the hotel is great but I wouldn't consider this a 4-star deluxe hotel. The rooms were okay; nothing special. The air conditioning wall units made a lot of noise when the air cycled on and off. Enough noise so that we turned it off because it was waking us up.” Jun 27, 2007 by
Dan from Washington, DC
“It is a clean, not big and conveniently located hotel. I requested a double room but the room we got was a smoking room so I requested something else and the staff upgraded us to a bigger room without any problems. Generally speaking the staff was courteous, efficient and very friendly. The location is good, safe (as NYC can be) within walking distance to Pier 17 shops and restaurants. The room was big, all equipment worked well, the bathroom was somewhat small (but I saw smaller ones in NYC, what's wrong with NYC I wonder?). We had a kitchenette and could use a microwave oven. The restaurant (Bull Run) was medium priced and both 1 breakfast and 1 dinner were fine but I think they could have been more inventive for a stake house. The hotel is within waling distance to 3 subways stations. Wall Street station on Line 1 is 27 steps away. I highly recommend this hotel for business travelers but I also think that leisurely travelers (without children) will certainly appreciate the location and the premises. This hotel offers a nice value for the money.” Apr 10, 2007 by
Valerie from Coatesville, PA
“Club quarters William street, is ideal for the business traveler. I stayed as a leisure traveler with my husband and found the room small and tight or as others might put it, cozy. The staff was friendly and the location was ideal for the weekends. Parking suggestions should go beyond the valet parking ($57 for 26 hours) and be open to public parking.” Apr 5, 2007 by
Tova from New York, NY
“We get upgrade to executive suite without asking.” Apr 4, 2007 by
Tamara from Andover, MA
“This was a nicely appointed, clean hotel. The beds were pretty comfortable and the room well furnished and fairly new. It was slightly cramped between the foot of the bed and the bathroom wall, but otherwise it was roomy enough for new York city.” Mar 29, 2007 by
Don from Montreal, QC CA
“Large older well-maintained business-class hotel in downtown Manhattan. Tastefully decorated rooms, comfortable beds, great flat-panel TV, and wifi. Perfectly located near major subway lines (2&3 right at the door). Nice quiet area during weekends. Probably a lot more hectic during the week. Excellent value.” Hotel Representatives:
