• Sent to sister hotels.
• Were over booked and we had to move.

“Problem - I reserved 3 rooms, when we went to check in they were overbooked and had only two rooms - they did send us to a sister hotel but it was a big hassle - they have indicated they will contact you for a full refund of our money - the sister hotel was fine but if money is not refunded ratings will stay low.”

• Convenient to NYC theaters, restaurants, museums etc.
• Some of the surrounding stores and buildings were a bit shoddy.

“The hotel is conveniently located and the staff was attentive and professional. It was quite a different, adult atmosphere with a degree of European flair. It reminded me of a small hotel I stayed at in Prague. Room was basic but comfortable and clean.”

• Very clean and elegant looking. Friendly employees.
• Have to be bounced to another hotel on the first day due to room unavailability but they compensated for it in terms of good service.

“Centrally located and walking distance to Time Square. Elegant room, super clean and very courteous staff. Interior design was simple but great and elegant. It exudes taste and class. We had a great experience by just being in the hotel.”

• Location to Broadway plays and downtown activities.
• We had a street side room and it was noisy all through the night with garbage trucks etc.

“Our overall stay was great. I would suggest asking for a room away from the street unless you like noise when trying to sleep. The staff was very friendly and greeted us each time we were in the lobby. The social hour was nice with wine, beer, and soda. Rooms on upper floors were being redecorated and updating furnishings. Would be nice to stay but also sounds like they are increasing the rates too.”

• There was a mouse in my room, they upgraded me later.

“The upgraded rooms are nice. The standard rooms are just okay. There was a mouse in my room on the late evening that I checked in. They subsequently moved me to an upgraded room, which was nice.”

• The service was wonderful. The staff most attentive.
• During our stay the floors above ours were being renovated and it was somewhat noisy until very late at night.

“Location is excellent, one block from Times Square. It is an easy walk to all the main theatres and many fine restaurants. The staffs, in particular, go to great lengths to be helpful. There is a five o'clock "Happy Hour" every day in the lobby where one can enjoy a glass of wine before dinner. We certainly would return to The Muse.”

• Location was amazing and bellmen were great.
• Did not clean room unless guest requested, ice not on floor.

“The hotel was in the best location. The ice was not on each floor, and they did not clean the room unless you requested it. Once requested, they were great. Hotel room was nice; nothing to brag about, but the location was phenomenal. Steps from the heart of times square.”

• The quietness of the room and helpfulness of the staff.
• Could have been a little cleaner. Small stains on sheets and dust on & behind furniture.

“Very fond of this hotel. It was a haven to come back to each time we went out into the city. The only short fall is that the housekeeping staff doesn't do quite as thorough of a job as we experienced at Hilton or Intercontinental. Still, I would be happy to stay at the Muse again. A very nice property.”

• Superb location; good sized, clean, well decorated rooms; great bed.
• No free internet.

“I love the muse. The only things I didn't like were that they charge $10.95 for 24-hour internet access, and the drain in our room didn't work so well. The use of l'occitane products was a very nice touch. I'll definitely go back to the muse if I'm to visit nick again.”

• The location was excellent and the beds were comfortable.
• We had no maid service; view of barbed wire out window; soap left from last guest.

“This hotel is in a perfect location for visiting midtown New York city. It is 1/2 a block from times square. The area around the hotel seemed relatively safe. The lobby was clean and most of the staff was helpful. The rooms were a nice size but ours had a very poor view - none at all. The beds were very comfortable. However, we did not receive any maid service during our stay and no one asked our experience when we checked out. ”

• I knew what to expect because it was a Kempton, and that it would not be a "big chain" experience.
• There was not anything I did not like.

• The reservationists graciously gave me a corner room on a high floor, when I requested it.
• It was perfectly acceptable as a lovely 3 star hotel but does not have the level of luxury and service of a four star.

“I was expecting the indulgences of a four star hotel. The room was stark and basic although the bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom, which in a four star hotel is always luxurious and filled with amenities, required you to call housekeeping for anything extra you required. There was only table on the right side of the bed, so it was too dark for the person on the left to read. The cordless phone by the bed did not work. The staff however were very accommodating and the elevators ran frequently. The location is excellent.”

• The staff was very courteous and helpful for the length of our stay.
• My initial upgrade was not booked at the time I called.

“I have to say that as a frequent traveler to new York city I have not had better service from a hotel. I thought the location was great and convenient to the entire city. The room was always clean and smelled fresh. The bellmen were very friendly and helpful not only at check out but ready with suggestions for anything we asked for (e.g. Good nay pizza). I would definitely stay at the muse again.”

“Very clean and modern. The room was comfortable. The main disappointment I have is the windows were not good for noise reduction or conducive to peaceful sleeping. Even with the windows closed, I could hear every little sound from the street (my room was on the 7th floor). Other than the windows, the hotel was excellent.”

“Room was small and un inviting the total opposite to the lobby area which was modern and classy. It said I would stay at 11 floors or above and I got put on the 3rd floor. Basically this place didn¿t meet my expectations for a 4 star pricy hotel.”

• Phenomenal service, location & comfort!
• Don't move anything around in the minibus; sensors detect it and automatically charge! Beware + check your bill on checkout.

“Went with friends and an older teen for Christmas and new year's eve it was fabulous! Can't say enough about this hotel. Having previously lived in and been back to nick numerous times to visit, my experience is that the location, comfort and quality of service provided by the muse is exceptional. (There is a thermostat in each room, so if the temp is too warm, turn down or off the heat!) Highly recommended.”

• For theatre-going, you cannot beat the location. It was like a calm oasis in the chaos of midtown Manhattan.
• Did not offer free wireless internet access.

“If you are going to the theatre district in Manhattan, you cannot beat this location. The hotel was quiet and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant, district, had very good food, but was typically Manhattan pricey -- don't even think about room service! The beds were comfortable, although the TV did not work very well. Wired internet access was available in the rooms for a daily fee (as was wireless access in the lobby for a fee), but I miss having free wireless access throughout the hotel. If anything were to stop me from staying at this hotel for a future visit to nay, it would be the lack of free wireless access.”

• The staff was very friendly without being patronizing. Hotel location was ideal for theatres and shopping.
• The harshest criticism I can muster is the check in time is later than I like.

• The staff was absolutely wonderful, friendly and helpful. The lobby was lovely and the bedding very comfortable.
• I thought the room was smaller then expected and I did not personally like the decor.

“All in all the location and friendly staff made this a great hotel. Although I did not like the room decor and it was a bit small the bedding was very comfortable the amenities terrific, I would return again.”

• The location and staff were great.
• Our room only had a stand up shower (no tub).

“When I first received word that I was booked at the Muse I went onto the web site and had difficulty finding any pictures of the hotel. Most hotel web pages have pictures of the front of the hotel and of the rooms on their home page. It did not seem easy to locate any pictures. Although the bathroom was huge with a large shower area, we were surprised that there was no bath tub. Over all my mom and I were very impressed with the size of the room, location of the hotel and the staff were absolutely wonderful and friendly!! Our first trip to New York was very memorable and enjoyable and part of the reason for that is because of our stay at the Muse.”

• The decor was upscale and very soothing, and the location was fabulous.
• Bathroom had NO FAN/air conditioning, and the lights made bathroom unbearably hot.

“This was a surprisingly pleasant, upscale hotel less than a block away from the heart of Times Square. The staff was very friendly and reasonably helpful. The room was tastefully decorated and quite large, considering it was in Manhattan. The beds were heaven to sleep in. The lights in the bathroom made it unbearably hot in there, and there was no fan (exhaust or otherwise) or air conditioning in there to help with the heat and steam. This actually considerably affected our ability to enjoy our stay there. It's no fun to start sweating 3 minutes after you get out of the shower or while you need to be using the bathroom mirror. They also charged us for mini-bar items that we did not consume but straightened it out on check-out. Other than that, it was a very nice hotel, and we would consider staying there again.”

• The proximity to Times Square and Broadway shows was incredible. Area was safe.
• My room was right over the street and very noisy but kind of added to the NYC experience.

“The lobby and room were spotless, new, and nicely decorated. Beds and linens were very comfortable and bathroom large. The location was exactly where I requested to be, a block from Times Square and walking distance to multiple other NYC sites. The area felt very safe.”

• Given a smoking room even though NS was requested in May.

“Excellent location, close to Times Square but quiet. The District restaurant is also great for a fixed price dinner before a show. Rooms need a bit of an upgrade which is planned this year but are clean and well-appointed. Front staff tries to be helpful but sometimes dropped the ball.”

“At the regular price, this hotel would have been far too expensive because it is small and has no other amenities. However, it has good ambience that puts you in a "New York state of mind." The location is superb - a side street just off Times Square - and convenient to everything.”

• The staff was incredible. Anything we needed, any questions we had, they helped us with. They treated us like old friends.
• There was noise on the street during normal sleeping hours.

• Nice lobby and public spaces.
• This was NOT a 4-star hotel. Rooms were small, dirty.

“The lobby and public spaces were fine (not great), but the room was dingy, small and not in great repair. The lamp in my room was rusted. There was barely room for two people to stand at the same time. The bathroom was not first class. I stay at top hotels all the time for business.”
