• Location. Right in the heart of Times Square - this hotel's location is stellar!
• The lighting is nice if you're in a romantic mood - but not if you're trying to read directions on a map.

“We were impressed the moment we walked in the door. The lobby was very nice. A little darkly lit. But it added to the whole mystique of the muse. We were pleasantly surprised by our room. We upgraded to a suite which included a pull out sofa-bed and were surprised to find a little living room off of the bedroom which was separated by a door that you could close - making it two separate bedrooms. With two flat screen TV's. The mini-fridge was stocked with outrageously expensive items - which we did not partake of - although I have to warn you that each item is on a sensor - we moved a drink to make enough room for one of our own and it was automatically added to our bill. When we explained that we simply moved it out of the way they removed it from the bill. We loved our hotel room and everyone was extremely nice. We will definitely stay there again!”

• The bell boy was good.
• Over price on beverages in the room. Walk outside to buy, but almost nothing.

“We thought check out was at 2, but they say at 12. During check out, security would not let my wife close the door to change. Staff was waiting as we pact our things. Luckily I'm a police officer and know better. I yelled in the hall way and made a fool of him. The terrible security guy has to go.”

• The bed was so comfortable; we wanted to take it with us.
• No pool, cost high for Internet.

“This hotel met most of our expectations. The room was really nice looking and the bed was so comfortable. The location was excellent. We walked to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, the Theatre District, Empire State building. The lobby was really neat looking too. We did not eat at the restaurant, but we did have a couple of drinks in the bar. Great service. They did have a fitness center too which was nice. No pool, but that is pretty standard for NY. The price was a bit high for Internet - 10.95/day. We didn't use it although we had brought our laptop just in case. Overall, we really enjoyed the hotel and will recommend it to friends and family.”

• The room had very nice style.
• Too noisy!

“The hotel facilities are nicely modeled. However, I asked several hours before we arrived to be put in a room that would be quiet. We were put in a room right on 46th st. The noise from construction and garbage trucks made it impossible to sleep. After we arrived, there were no other rooms available. Also my wife sat down on one of the benches in the lobby and there was gum on it; so she got gum on her new clothes.”

• Convenient, clean, refurbished, modern. Loved the happy hour.
• Funny smell to the rooms and the air conditioner did not work the first night.

• The bell captain was very nice.
• Construction behind the hotel began at 6:30 AM!

“We were miserable at this hotel. Room requests that were guaranteed by the hotel were not met. Were lied to about room availability by front desk when we arrived. We placed in the back of the property where a construction site was our view. Construction began at 6:30 a.m. Concierge would have to be called several times before meeting our requests. Housekeeping removed our newspapers we were saving which were laid neatly together on the desk on the day before we left! Deeply disappointed in the service and room.”

• Location, staff, and size of hotel were all great for our needs.
• An MTV reality show was being filmed during the stay, and the 'stars' were annoying.

“If you want to stay near Times Square and the Theatre District but not be in the middle of the madness, this is a perfect small, well run hotel. All the shows are within a five minute walk, but a half block in the other direction takes you to Rockefeller Center and a somewhat quieter area of the city.”

“This is a great location for touring around New York. It is an eclectic, modern hotel in an old building. The renovations make it a very good home base. The nightly wine reception is a very nice touch.”

• Everything! Quality, professional staff, convenient location, great restaurant with superb service. All wonderful.
• There's nothing I did not like about Hotel Muse.

“Hotel Muse (or the Muse Hotel, I forget which) is incomparably convenient to the theater district and Times Square. But quiet (soundproof walls, I guess) and great quality in terms of furnishings, service and food. I'll be staying there again for sure. And they upgraded me on their own initiative as well.”

“Amazing stay here. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and will return to this hotel again and again and again. Moments from times square, Broadway, fifth avenue and more. Safe area and the hotel staff are superb. Every time you walk into the hotel, they welcome you back with a giant smile. Amazing.”

• Absolutely no view, room was slightly small.

“Very warm and inviting space. Have stayed in 4 star hotels in the area that weren't as comfortable. The only negative is for the price you pay to stay here you would expect the plumbing to work properly. Tub was very slow to drain.”

• No tea or coffee making facilities. No computer for emailing for those without lap tops.

“We were in a newly renovated room. Decor was minimal and attractive. We were delighted the front desk was able to give us a room with two beds. We are two friends traveling together and wanted our own space. There was complimentary tea/coffee in the dining room in the morning, but who wants to get dressed to go downstairs for coffee? It also would have been nice to make a cup after a day out sightseeing.”

“The Muse Hotel is a recently renovated, very fashionable, "boutique" hotel conveniently located next to the center of Times Square. By New York standards, the rooms are moderately sized. The staff was very friendly and helpful.”

• It was close to a main street, so you could hear traffic.

“I very much enjoyed my short stay at the Muse. We were a short walk away from the Theatre District and Public Transportation. The staff always helped us find taxis, and even found last minute tickets to an event we really wanted to catch. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.”

• The restaurant is fantastic, and the majority of the staff is friendly.
• In general my room was noisy see below.

“The hotel is very nice, however being pet friendly; I had to put up with a yapping dog late at night, while the owners were out. The front desk sent a security person, but as the guests were out, they could do nothing. The windowpane not sound proof, so ask for a room up high and/or in the back. Housekeeping overlooked soap in the bathroom and trash was left on the floor after the room had been cleaned. The manager was abrupt and unsympathetic regarding the dog.”

• The bellmen were excellent and very informative. Room was spacious and had great decor.
• Front desk staff was rude and condescending. Overcharged for parking and refused to correct.

“Excellent location right in the heart of times square. Very friendly and helpful bell staff. Quick service with bags. Odd sit-down check counter, but otherwise smooth check-in. Rooms were very spacious and newly designed with excellent modern decor. Front desk staff was often unhelpful, condescending and sometimes just rude. Overcharged for valet parking, double charged despite complying with their parking policy. Front desk staff refused to correct the problem and were dismissive also the manager was too "busy" (picked up a phone that wasn't ringing) to address the problem. Offered to have their manager call my cell phone to address the problem, but did not follow through, still unresolved. Overall hotel provides an excellent New York experience, despite several customer service flaws.”

“Overall, we were pleasantly surprised with the hotel quality. It was a great location for Broadway shows. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. There was nightly wine tasting in the lobby. The staff made a few errors while we were there. They first assigned us to a room that was already occupied. They made several room service mistakes. Leaving off items that were requested. Our TV (which was a new flat mounted LCD) went out and had to be repaired while we waited. All these were minor compared to the overall value. We would stay there again.”

• Sent to sister hotels.
• Were over booked and we had to move.

“Problem - I reserved 3 rooms, when we went to check in they were overbooked and had only two rooms - they did send us to a sister hotel but it was a big hassle - they have indicated they will contact you for a full refund of our money - the sister hotel was fine but if money is not refunded ratings will stay low.”

• Convenient to NYC theaters, restaurants, museums etc.
• Some of the surrounding stores and buildings were a bit shoddy.

“The hotel is conveniently located and the staff was attentive and professional. It was quite a different, adult atmosphere with a degree of European flair. It reminded me of a small hotel I stayed at in Prague. Room was basic but comfortable and clean.”

• Have to be bounced to another hotel on the first day due to room unavailability but they compensated for it in terms of good service.

• Location to Broadway plays and downtown activities.
• We had a street side room and it was noisy all through the night with garbage trucks etc.

“Our overall stay was great. I would suggest asking for a room away from the street unless you like noise when trying to sleep. The staff was very friendly and greeted us each time we were in the lobby. The social hour was nice with wine, beer, and soda. Rooms on upper floors were being redecorated and updating furnishings. Would be nice to stay but also sounds like they are increasing the rates too.”

“The upgraded rooms are nice. The standard rooms are just okay. There was a mouse in my room on the late evening that I checked in. They subsequently moved me to an upgraded room, which was nice.”

• The service was wonderful. The staff most attentive.
• During our stay the floors above ours were being renovated and it was somewhat noisy until very late at night.

“Location is excellent, one block from Times Square. It is an easy walk to all the main theatres and many fine restaurants. The staffs, in particular, go to great lengths to be helpful. There is a five o'clock "Happy Hour" every day in the lobby where one can enjoy a glass of wine before dinner. We certainly would return to The Muse.”
