  • Not much information for area attractions: restaurants, bars. Didn't even know how to get to their restaurant.

“Comfortable with a great staff. They recommended a different room when the only one available was a smoking room and stored our luggage for us while we went for lunch. Clean rooms and their breakfast was great, recommend it for room service!”

  • The room was a great value. I would stay there again.
  • Requested toothbrush. Called twice to remind. It never came.

“This hotel is a great value. It appears to be a converted apartment tower; therefore the rooms vary in greatly in size, but in general most are larger than your typical NY hotel. They have a very nice bar with a great view of the city. They have an adequate work out room. For the right price, I would stay here again in a Heartbeat. If you are expecting 4 stars, don't stay here. If you are looking for a nice hotel at a good price, this is one of your better options in NY.”

  • Great river views, large room for NYC includes living and kitchen.
  • Off the beaten path--6 blocks to the nearest subway.

“Very pleased with hotel. Had a mini apartment with living, small kitchen, small bath and bedroom, two TV's--a lot for NYC. Room was clean, furniture was good but not plush; great view of East River. Desk was friendly and helpful. Restaurant on 26th floor also had great views--did not eat there however. Only complaint is the hotel is next to the UN and except for that is not really close to anything. Subway is six blocks away meaning you will be taking a lot of cabs.”

“The hotel was very nice. An older building with small public spaces. The Art Deco lobby decor is nice and the staff is very helpful. Our room with a small kitchen, queen bed and pull out sofa was beautifully decorated. The view onto the East River was wonderful! Wireless internet available in room for a small fee. Easy to get cabs. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.”

If you want to stay "in the center of things," this is not for you, but this East Side neighborhood is much quieter and less crowded, while still having many convenient restaurants, etc.”

Each room had a kitchenette which added to the features of the room. Snacks and breakfast were able to be stored in the refrigerator. The only dissatisfying feature was that there were no rooms with 2 double, queen or kings beds. The only room with 2 beds was twin beds. Having the option of 2 beds in the room would have been nice.”

Room was ok. I'd call it a two star well before a three star.”

  • Good location.
  • It is unacceptable that the temperature in the room is controlled by the hotel staff!

“The hotel was clean and in a very good location in east midtown NYC. The neighborhood was relatively quiet for NYC (compared to Times Square). The room was blandly decorated. The heating and air conditioning cannot be set by the hotel guest except for turning the fan on or off. The entire building runs off of one temperature setting. If you would like to cool down the room you have to regulate how much to open windows and hope you get it right during the evening.”

There is no convenient subway stop, although 2 cross-town buses pass in front of the hotel. It would be a good choice someone who plans to stay for several weeks and would like to cook and have guests over.”

While I believe the room was clean, it was so dingy (carpet, bedspread, linen) that one had the feeling it wasn't clean. When checking out, we reported the coffeepot which didn't work because plug was bent. The person at the desk didn't seem to care. I would not go back there and I would not recommend it to anyone.”

  • Valet parking cost us over $100 for a one night stay.

“The room we were upgraded to looked exactly like the picture. We were in town to visit our daughter who had just moved to NYC and our suite was much larger than her apartment! The staff was very helpful and the restaurant on the top floor was reasonable for NY. The breakfast we had was very good. The hotel was quiet and out of the way, but very close to our daughters apartment so it worked out perfectly for us. If you want to be close to the action of Times Square and the Theatre district it is quite a distance to walk. Things may be a little worn in the hotel but for the price and distance to our daughters apartment it was perfect.”

  • Parking at the hotel is $52 a day! Astronomical!

“The Beekman Tower Hotel was not what we had anticipated. The bed in our suite was uneven and mattress was hard as a rock. We came with children who had to use the pull out sofa in the living room. The sofa cushions were much worn. Worn through on the edges to the padding. Prior to arrival we had called ahead to inquire about parking with the customer service number. The female clerk advised us that its $52 a day valet only parking. I inquired as to where the nearest public parking garage was and she refused to inform me repeatedly stating we have parking here at the hotel for $52. I have been to NY before and know there is plenty of public parking facilities around you just have to look for one. We ended up finding one two blocks away. I didn't need valet parking. I only wanted to park my vehicle once I arrived and get it back once we we're ready to leave. We enjoyed NY and didn't let the substandard hotel get us down. We only spent minimal time in the room to sleep.”

The hallways smelled of people cooking food and gives you a feeling like you are in an apartment building. I would not recommend staying there. The hotel at best would be ranked as a 2 star and that would be pushing it.”
