• Very clean and comfortable hotel.
• Small bottles of water were a scandalous $4.00 each.

• The doorman was friendly.
• No mirrors in the room.

“The room was clean and the down bedding was lovely. Having double beds isn't very comfortable for a couple however, and the room didn't have any mirrors in the room. A mirror and electrical outlet would have been nice so I could do makeup and hair while my husband was in the bathroom.”

• Comfy bed, huge TV.
• Location only convenient to wall st. No Wi-Fi in rooms, wired internet extra.

“Clean, comfortable rooms. Good elevator service. Very nice staff. But the location isn't great unless you're there on business in the financial district. And there is no Wi-Fi available in rooms, and the wired internet, which costs $14/night, is quite slow.”

• The room was neat, the bathroom was huge and the bed was so comfortable!

“I enjoyed my experience at the Marriott Downtown. Check-in was friendly and quick, the public areas and room were neat and attractive and the location was quite convenient.”

• The room offered every amenity and provided everything we'd expected.
• The hotel's location provided a challenge when going uptown (5th Ave. and Central Park) and downtown (Soho).

“We were very pleased with everything about this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was terrific and offered a huge view--but, most of what we could see was the site of the World Trade Towers which made us very sad. We were delighted with the cleanliness of the hotel and pleasantly surprised to find paper cups in addition to the usual drinking glasses in our room--very sanitary!”

• We had a large corner room overlooking the Hudson River. Great service.
• Be prepared for $20 cab rides anywhere in the city.

• The view was great and the beds big (full) & comfortable for one. The cleaning staff was accommodating with requests. And Starbucks was in the hotel.
  
• The down blankets made it a bit warm when sleeping at night, we just had to adjust the temperture. And the shower pressure was too low.

“I really enjoyed the hotel with its friendly staff and clean lobby/rooms. The lobby always smelled like warm vanilla with the candles lit every evening I came back to my room. I was on the 31st floor with views of the Statue of Liberty and the water. The room was spacious with 2 full-size beds, large flat screen, and small refrigerator. The only draw back was that the shower pressure was too low and the train in towards Uptown was time consuming. About $24 for taxi or subway week pass at $25 (just allow for 30mins or so).”

• Neat, clean and nice staff. Right next to the World Trade Center project.
• Expensive cab rides to the center of the city.

“Very good staff from the doorman to the front desk. Room decor was excellent. Restaurant was very expensive but so were all the other restaurants in the city. Location was very good for water related activities.”

• The room was lovely and large by NYC standards.
• They were repairing the elevators.

“Great downtown location with a view of the river, lovely rooms, and comfy bed. One problem was that there was repairing the elevators and it took forever to get up and down as only one was in service and you had to call for it.”

• Location near Battery Park.
• Traffic flow to/from hotel is a nightmare (construction, badly marked).

“This is a lovely hotel, very close to Battery Park which is one of the newer jewels in New York's crown. The hotel room was excellent and had interesting views of surrounding skyline.”

• I hated the elevators and I wish they renovate the reservation desk which looked humble.

• It was convenient to subway.
• The recommendations for restaurants given by concierge. Both restaurants recommended were bad.

“The hotel was pleasant with an upscale feel. The room was clean and new. Although the location was a bit out of the way from everything it was convenient to the Subway and easy to get around. The do need to recommend better restaurants because in New York City you can get great food without spending a fortune. The restaurants recommended were poor. Fortunately, the hotel has no control over the restaurants. It would do them well to research some off the beaten path type restaurants that are great little finds with great food. Overall, the hotel was a great.”

• Due to flight delays, we had only 2 hours in the hotel. Excellent room.
• No 24 hour room service.

“We checked in 2 1/2 hours late. We had a concert to attend and didn't get back to the hotel until 1.30 AM. With a 3.30 wake up call to catch a shuttle.”

• Responsive, helpful, friendly staff. Clean.
• Lobby area small (but its NYC, so shouldn't be surprised.).

“Excellent staff/service. 1) A room mix-up was corrected quickly, professionally and generously. 2) When bellmen were otherwise occupied, desk-staff did not hesitate to pitch in with luggage assistance.”

• Front desk clerks were extraordinary, took personal interest in our stay.
• Pool attendant glaring at my older children, making them feel unwelcome in the pool.

• We had two rooms across the hall from each other and each had a great view - 1 World Trade center site, 1 Statue of Liberty.
• It was at the southern tip of Manhattan, so was not easy to walk to mid-town attractions.

“This is a great hotel, and for the price, it could not have been any better. Friendly staff, nice, clean rooms, and great views.”

• The view from the room. The location of the hotel in relation to the places in which I had planned to visit.
• The ongoing construction one floor above my room. This was extremely annoying.

“There reason, I was extremely disappointed with the hotel, is the construction which continued throughout my entire stay. My room was on the 31st floor and the construction was on the 32nd floor. This made it extremely difficult to rest. The construction began as early as 7:00 am and continued until 7:00 pm. I would have preferred another room in which you could not constantly hear the construction work - hammering, drilling, etc.”

• The lobby and rooms are beautiful. They looked just like pictures (minus Lady Liberty). The staff was very friendly..
• We were told we couldn't use the cart to take our stuff to our room but person didn't help either.

“I loved this hotel. If I ever go back I would definitely stay there again. It was beautiful, clean, and quiet, for your information. They do have parking so don't let the parking lot next to it keep your car. It was $45 for them to keep our car for 25 hours.”

• Parking fee is not included in the room rate. Surprise!

“While the hotel is lovely, I can't get past the excessive rowdiness from other hotel guests who were running through the halls, slamming doors, and yelling, instead of talking, to each other. It ruined what otherwise would have been a pleasant visit. In addition, I guess our ventilation was connected to the kitchen air ducts, because we could always smell food odors, which was slightly nauseating at times.”

• The lobby was attractive. Great views of the city.
• The electricity shorted when using two sources. Location was a little difficult to get to by car. Easier by subway.

“Enjoyed staying at the Marriott. Had more success talking to the staff in person than over the phone. The lobby was very nice and the amenities were well kept. The main bar could be a little bit cozier and the restaurant had odd hours for operation. However, all in all, I would certainly stay there again.”

• Customer service was great, I forgot toothpaste and called the desk and 5 minutes later they knocked on the door to deliver the toothpaste.
• Was stuck in the elevator for 5 minutes.

• Easy check in.
• There was a +$50 parking charge that was not told to me.

“A little difficult to find. Level of service great contrast depending on the person. For example, the porter barely spoke English and got angry when I asked for clarification on how to get to the hotel from byway. The front desk very helpful and smooth check in, despite Sunday late night. Very accommodating when requested a late check out.”
