• The room heater was very noisy.

“Cons: very noisy room ac/heater unit. The lobby is small and not inviting for meeting. Pros: the location is great. The hotel is kept clean. I felt safe leaving my car in the hotel parking lot. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are a good size too (with fridge and microwave). Good cookies too.”

• They gave me a smoking room and I am not a smoker.

“They gave me a smoking room and I am not a smoker. They put me in a room with 2 double beds that were very uncomfortable for me. They offered to deodorize the room with the king bed but for a non smoker that was unacceptable. Giving me that room with 2 double beds was also unacceptable if this was not prepaid I would have definitely requested a refund or stop payment on this unacceptable service.”

• It is convenient to get a access to Manhattan, NYC.
• The elevator is small and so crowded considering the hotel rooms.

• The treatment I received from the staff and manager.

“The hotel is located in a nice area of Jersey City, but I found it to be in shocking disrepair. I found trash under my bed and their appeared to be water leaks throughout the hotel. The staff did not appear to be well-trained, including the manager.”

• The bed was exceptionally good, the room was extremely clean.
• Hooker in lobby; desk clerk answered 2 questions wrong; beer bottles in elevator.

“The hotel appears to be a destination for revelers on weekends. There were numerous different groups occupying the premises for seeming weekend getaways. My sleep was interrupted numerous times by intoxicated persons communicating too loudly in the hallway. Beer bottles were left overnight in the elevators. The bathroom tub was too slippery and there was no bathmat to counter the dangerous surface. I was never given a final receipt underneath my door as promised.”

• As the hotel staff told me and as I discovered there are terrible water problems in this hotel. There are numerous dripping air conditioners.

• Location to public transportation to NYC excellent.
• I was placed in a smoking room; a non-smoking room was not available. Filtering the air just does not make it a non-smoking room.

• Great location with fast front desk service.
• The lobby was a little small and crowded and our room was next to the rail road tracks.

“When we checked in, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we were upgraded to a huge room with a kind size bed. The room was well equipped with a kitchenette and seating area. The down side was that it overlooked the train tracks. The front desk service was helpful and fast despite the basic lobby furnishings. Good experience!”

• Business center unavailable. Stains on couch and fee to use internet in room.

“Double Tree is a well-recognized brand and the beds were the best part of our visit. The facts that the business center was closed for remodeling, Internet access from guest rooms was not free, and stains on the couch in the room all detracted from the overall satisfaction with this hotel. Jersey City is not an easy place to navigate. There are lots of frustrating one-way streets and sequences of turns on poorly marked roads can make following directions a challenge. The air quality in Jersey City is probably as bad as you would imagine for New Jersey. Instead of Jersey City, I'd stay somewhere else nearby NYC the next time.”

• Noticeable residual smoky smell in room from past.

“The hotel is modern, bright, and clean. (The restaurant/lobby area was being renovated in late July 2007, but the mess and dust were being contained.) Excellent location near the Hudson, between Pavonia path station and NJ Light Rail stops. Newport mall a five-minute walk away. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.”

“Hotel was great. The front desk staff was excellent and very helpful. The location was ideal for visiting NYC. The PATH train was right across the street with one stop to get into the city. Plenty of great dinning choices close to the hotel and the area were clean and safe.”

• Amazingly comfortable bed, very relaxing after walking all day.
• A pool would make this place even better.

• They gave us a spacious penthouse room with nice views.
• Safety seemed to be an issue due to its proximity to the lesser neighborhoods.

“Overall, it was great but I think maybe it's because they gave us one of the best rooms in the house. With a standard room and no view, I think the rating would have been closer to a 2.5. The cookies they gave us upon check in were nice and the staff was very nice, but for an 'upscale' hotel, the bath amenities included only a shampoo (no conditioner), soap, and body lotion and shoe cloth. No shower cap or gel or mouthwash, and the bathroom and towels were rather ordinary. The previous stay at the Hyatt jersey city, for the same star level and price, was a much, much better deal.”

“The hotel is nicely located in Jersey City, Not too far from the path into Manhattan. It's clean, the staff is very friendly. I however had called ahead of time and asked for a king bed or 2 doubles. I got a queen. ”

• Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was not good. The price did not match the poor quality of food.

• The cookies.
• Star ranking was too high for the hotel itself.

“Hotel was alright. Nothing exciting. The views of the city were hindered by buildings but still viewable. Location was fine but being closer to the Hudson would have been a little better. Restaurants were within close proximity and overall prices were reasonable. Also fairly close to the path (1.5 blocks). Parking was about as cheap as it gets for the NYC area at $15 bucks a day.”

“Clean, comfortable rooms. Lobby a bit small. Before arrival, hotel staff consistently gave different answers as to bedding arrangements. Upon arrival staff very helpful and courteous. Elevator was very difficult to operate, requiring room key. Guests continually riding up and down nit able to access their room floor.”

• I have no negatives.

“We had an easy "day trip" into new York city via the path train (a 5-10 minute walk to the station) and returned to our beautiful room in the evenings. There is a large shopping mall and a grocery store within easy walking distance. We found this was an excellent way to stay in a 3 star room and visit Manhattan but at a fraction for the cost. The staff was very accommodating. I was able to use the hotel's business room to print out our boarding passes and check e-mail--so I didn't have to bring my own laptop with me.”

• Rooms were large and very clean.
• The location in was tough to get to, spent a lot of time lost.

“The hotel is very difficult to locate. Tons of construction, and one way streets. Washington Street was blocked off just past the hotel due to a large crane in the road the whole 3 days. Had the pleasure of meeting the very grouchy evening supervisor that did give us a better room when we asked, but she was not pleasant. By better I mean not right next to the elevator with a view of a dumpster. The rooms were beautiful. Very clean, the bedding was top notch. Lots of pillows. The night clerk was very pleasant and helpful. He went out of his way to provide us with menus for local take-out, even called for us. Path train is 2 blocks down. No view of the city from any room in this hotel that I could see. A pool and a free breakfast would make this seem like a nice Hampton Inn.”
