• Close to PATH station, grocery store, shopping mall and waterfront walk.
• The room is not sound-proofed, especially the door.

“In general, this hotel is clean, conveniently located except that a construction is going on just in front of it, which blocks the entrance a little bit. I didn't expect a private operating taxi when I asked them to reserve a taxi for us. No receipt for the taxi and $45 plus road toll are charged for going to the Amtrak station in New York.”

“I thought having to pay $20 for parking was outrageous! I think if you are going to be staying in the hotel it should be included because you are a guest! The food was way overpriced and the portions small!”

• the rooms were extremely spacious and clean, the amenities were superior and it was just an all around good experience.
• The restauraunt/bar was not open at 5pm on a Saturday.

“I would reccomend the hotel to anyone travelling lesiurely to either jersey city or manhattan, its a short ride on the path. The rroms were very clean and spacious. A very good value for the price.”

“I stayed at the hotel for 5 nights with my family and a niece and a nephew. When we reached the hotel, I asked two double bed rooms for us. At first, the hotel staff told me she can give me two king bed rooms with pull out sofa-bed as their double beds rooms are all sold out. I have not had any chance to make specific request about rooms. They were shifting their responsibility to each other, and I ended up sleeping in the smelly smoking rooms with my kids. I could not stand cigarette smell in the rooms and never wanted to pay for smoking rooms. I talked to the manager and he gave me one non-smoking king bed room from next night. It was not a pleasant experience at all this time with the hotel in Jersey city.”

• The am staff was more hospitable and friendly.
• The front desk man was not helpful at all.

“Hotel is located in the busy district of Jersey City and accessible to many kinds of transportation to other key cities and New York. It is quite congested because it is very near Holland tunnel. The parking area was spacious although you have to pay $15 a day for it even if you are a guest. Talk about accommodation! The room is alright. But when we checked in we were surprised to see 1 king bed and there were 4 of us!”

• The location is close to the LightRail station.
• The coffee machine was very dirty and not cleaned. The shower tub was old.

“Staff was friendly. The coffee machine in the room was dirty and not cleaned. We had to wash it many times before we could start to use it. We didn't buy any gift in the hotel, but the bill asked us to pay something that we didn't buy. Fortunately, the staff was happy to correct the mistake they made and apologized.”

• The staff was very friendly -- every staffer I met actually. The room was clean and comfortable. And, the location -- perfect --close to subway.
• The restaurant -- terrible breakfast buffet -- kind of hard to screw up breakfast, but they did.

• Good location. Friendly hotel staff. Good bathroom supplies. Spacious bathroom.
• Hotel does not have many rooms that could see NYC skylines. Internet not free.

“First of all, the staff was very friendly. When we were waiting about 10 minutes for the shuttle to the train station (3 minutes by walking, didn't realize at the time though), one of the staff asked us where we are headed to/what we are waiting for/ and got us a free cab from the hotel. Needless to say, the location is great 3 minutes to New Port station that takes you to Downtown NYC in less than 10 minutes. The room itself was pretty good with comfy beds. You could only see a smallest portion of NYC skyline though. There is free wireless internet on the lobby which has a lot of sofas and desks, but if u want it in your room or have anything printed there is a charge of 10 dollars plus some cents per page.”

• Good lower price alternative for Manhattan.
• Most suites have only one bed and no fold-out

“This is a good alternative for people wishing to go to Manhattan, but wanting to save money. Not only is the rate much less, but parking is only $15 per night, in/out in a surface lot. There is a two block walk to the PATH station, which takes you to various points in lower and mid-town Manhattan. The train ride into the city can be long, though, depending on the time of day, where you are going, and how you happen to hit the trains when you enter the station. I have had times when it's taken an hour to get from somewhere in mid-town to the hotel. That said, the hotel itself is fine, and the area around it is good, too.”

• Comfort of the bees was unbelievable I wanted to take the pillows along home it was roomy and the staff were very helpful.
• The drinks were awful in the pub and way overpriced.

“Location was good if you cannot stay in the city less than 2 blocks to the path system and then a 10 min ride to new York city price was less than half what the city was charging the room was spacious for three and the bed and pillows were the best I have ever slept on.”

• The room heater was very noisy.

“Cons: very noisy room ac/heater unit. The lobby is small and not inviting for meeting. Pros: the location is great. The hotel is kept clean. I felt safe leaving my car in the hotel parking lot. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are a good size too (with fridge and microwave). Good cookies too.”

“They gave me a smoking room and I am not a smoker. They put me in a room with 2 double beds that were very uncomfortable for me. They offered to deodorize the room with the king bed but for a non smoker that was unacceptable. Giving me that room with 2 double beds was also unacceptable if this was not prepaid I would have definitely requested a refund or stop payment on this unacceptable service.”

“The hotel is located in a nice area of Jersey City, but I found it to be in shocking disrepair. I found trash under my bed and their appeared to be water leaks throughout the hotel. The staff did not appear to be well-trained, including the manager.”

• The bed was exceptionally good, the room was extremely clean.
• Hooker in lobby; desk clerk answered 2 questions wrong; beer bottles in elevator.

“The hotel appears to be a destination for revelers on weekends. There were numerous different groups occupying the premises for seeming weekend getaways. My sleep was interrupted numerous times by intoxicated persons communicating too loudly in the hallway. Beer bottles were left overnight in the elevators. The bathroom tub was too slippery and there was no bathmat to counter the dangerous surface. I was never given a final receipt underneath my door as promised.”

• I was placed in a smoking room; a non-smoking room was not available. Filtering the air just does not make it a non-smoking room.

• Great location with fast front desk service.
• The lobby was a little small and crowded and our room was next to the rail road tracks.

“When we checked in, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we were upgraded to a huge room with a kind size bed. The room was well equipped with a kitchenette and seating area. The down side was that it overlooked the train tracks. The front desk service was helpful and fast despite the basic lobby furnishings. Good experience!”

• Business center unavailable. Stains on couch and fee to use internet in room.

“Double Tree is a well-recognized brand and the beds were the best part of our visit. The facts that the business center was closed for remodeling, Internet access from guest rooms was not free, and stains on the couch in the room all detracted from the overall satisfaction with this hotel. Jersey City is not an easy place to navigate. There are lots of frustrating one-way streets and sequences of turns on poorly marked roads can make following directions a challenge. The air quality in Jersey City is probably as bad as you would imagine for New Jersey. Instead of Jersey City, I'd stay somewhere else nearby NYC the next time.”

• Easy access to path and NJ light rail.
• Noticeable residual smoky smell in room from past.

“The hotel is modern, bright, and clean. (The restaurant/lobby area was being renovated in late July 2007, but the mess and dust were being contained.) Excellent location near the Hudson, between Pavonia path station and NJ Light Rail stops. Newport mall a five-minute walk away. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.”

• Front Desk staff was excellent.

“Hotel was great. The front desk staff was excellent and very helpful. The location was ideal for visiting NYC. The PATH train was right across the street with one stop to get into the city. Plenty of great dinning choices close to the hotel and the area were clean and safe.”
