• Management did step up to compensate when staff let us down.
• Lack of cleanliness in room, staff unfriendliness, deceptive internet charges.

“Bathtub was dirty when checked in, waited 30 minutes for housekeeping to clean, wife took shower afterwards and found out tub could not drain, waited another 30 minutes for hotel to fix, left the bathtub dirty, tried to wait for housekeeping to return, after 30 minutes couldn't take it any longer and I cleaned tub myself. Internet requires a password from front desk, no mention from front desk or logon webpage. I was very upset by that point and wrote feedback to priority club website. Management immediately tried to remedy situation by removing internet charges and giving one night free. Disappointed by staff and having to write complaint letter to get better treatment.”

• The pillows were soft and comfortable.
• The lady in the room next to ours was taken away by police.

“The Crowne plaza was overall a very nice hotel with comfortable beds and a clean room. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was good for those who travel to Manhattan but don't want to stay there. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers.”

• Very comfortable beds and pillows. Very friendly staff.
• The bar needs new TVs.

• Price, location, comfort.

“Everything was wonderful except they advertise that they have a complimentary shuttle to the train station and they would not take us. It caused us to incur a $10 cab fare every time we needed to go to the train station. Very inconvenient and would have stayed in different location if this was known.”

• The view of NY from our room, and the beds were good.
• The hotel staff gave away our handicap assessable room away two nights in a row.

“The hotel was pretty and nice, but the staff was not too sharp. They did not have a handicap room as promised, so we got by on the first night, packed up and the next night they gave it away again. We wouldn't go back again. It wasn't worth the trouble they put us through.”

• The rooms smelled terrible. The staff was not helpful.

“This hotel is a huge disappointment. The bathrooms are small and dirty, the hotel rooms smelled of smoke even though it was a non smoking room. The web site says they have a shuttle to the NYC train but they do not.”

• No internet access, bathroom small, service bad, carpet dirty.

“The carpet was very dirty. The room service was horrible. There was a broken lamp that was a fire or shock hazard. There was no wireless internet without a fee. We stayed in other hotels on the trip for less money that was much nicer with free internet service.”

• Close and convenient to NYC.
• Didn't fix slow drain in shower after it was reported.

“The Crowne Plaza in Secaucus is a well appointed hotel with courteous staff. It is convenient to NYC by a twenty to thirty minute bus ride (depending on traffic) that takes you to Times Square for $2.55! The bus stops a block from the hotel and runs frequently throughout the day and evening. I dined in the bar and grill after hours and the burger was a good one. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean and had a view of the NYC skyline (ask for a room on the east side). The neighborhood appeared safe and I thought this was a good alternative to staying in the city where accommodations would be smaller and more expensive and probably not as clean and nicely appointed. Would stay here again.”

• Nice open feeling to the hotel and grounds.
• The communication was very bad during a fire alarm at 3am.

“The location of the hotel is great for the price. The central location allowed me to stay in one place instead of getting multiple hotels for my trip. I had a graduation in Trenton to attend, and a tour through New York city. Having a nice hotel like this was a great find.”

• Generally a nice hotel, but not up to Crowne Plaza reputation.
• Queen beds too small; no continental breakfast included.

“The queen beds were too small for two adults; breakfast cost me an extra $50. No continental (or other breakfast) included in the price. Hotel is not as nice, but the queen beds are normal size, and the free breakfast is outstanding.”

• No extras included; pool was freezing cold; not kid friendly.

“Room and lobby were quite nice, but internet was $10/day whereas it is free everywhere else! Breakfast was not included. Parking was a longish walk and 2 flights of rusty stairs away on top level of garage with trash and broken glass all over.”

“First impression of the hotel was good, as the lobby is well appointed and very clean. We were upgraded to a King Size mini Suite which was nice for space but overall, the room needed a major overhaul and cleaning. Carpeting was stained and all of the furniture looked old and worn out. Staff was very friendly and helped us get where we were going. This hotel could be three stars, but needs to clean up a little.”

“When checking into the hotel I told the bell man that my party had luggage. He pushed the luggage cart towards me and told me that I can unload my own luggage and don't forget to return the cart when I was finished. My party had 13 pieces of luggage. When checking into the hotel front desk, the clerk told me that she did not have the rooms ready to come back later. The front desk clerk had a bad attitude and was unfriendly.”

• The whole property was very depressing.

“Maybe this is what you get when you're so close to NYC, but even though the weather was nice, the property just brought me down. The front desk was unable to get in touch with the shuttle when I needed it.”

“The hotel is very clean and comfortable. Easy to find if we did not get out wrong at route 3 east. Near to the bus station to nick. It only takes you 20 unites to Manhattan. We did not take the shuttle bus to Secaucus junction cause there is no schedule for the shuttle bus. Anyway, it's a lovely hotel.”

• It was clean, there was a star bucks in the lobby.
• Only one elevator worked.

“My room was on the 9th floor. I was on a business trip & time was very important for me. I lost at least one hour every day waiting for the elevator. One day I waited for more than 30 min. & gave up. I took the stairs to 9th floor. I¿ve been told by people who have been staying at this hotel for months because they have a company account, the elevator problem is not temporary. It has been going on for months now. They have never seen two elevators working at the same time.”

• The location was perfect for what we needed, and the rooms were fabulous.
• Hotel parking was not what was expected.

“The hotel was very nice, especially for the price. The rooms were beautiful, and we had a nice view. Parking seemed a bit out of the way, with no tunnel or people mover between the parking levels and entrance to hotel, so if you were traveling in bad weather you and your luggage could be ruined.”

• This Is Not A Leisure Hotel, and at the rates charged Internet Must Be included.

“Nice hotel, convenient location, clean, nice pool area during summer months. The only bad thing is I become really irritated by higher end hotels that charge for Internet service, especially business hotels and based on location and the presence of conference center this is clearly a business hotel. Its just a grab and its irritating.”

• The staff were sincerely concerned about the guests.

“This hotel is conveniently located in Secaucus and is very accessible to New York City. The public transportation (bus 129 & 190) stop just at the intersection and could not be any easier to ride. The hotel is well appointed and they honored my crown points status and provided me with the executive lounge privileges and breakfast coupons on the weekend. We were given all of our preferences after arrival (king, ns, highest floor, New York view). The complimentary shuttle is a life saver as it goes to the train station or into town on demand. I was very pleased with the hotel. The only drawback to travelers was that a trip to LaGuardia Airport is in the $100 range for taxi/town car. Other than that surprise, I loved our stay.”

• Our arrival was very crazy and on a time squeeze. They worked with me in seeing that my requested room was reserved without question.

“We arrived at midnight and left at 9:00AM. We didn't see enough of the hotel to make a review. We came we slept we left. It met our needs. The bus to the city was quite inconvenient, so we drove in the second day. I prefer North Bergen over Secaucus, but for the price--- no complaints.”

• The women, or woman, working the reservations desk had a very poor attitude the 2-3 times I called and when I arrived to check in. Quite disappointing.

“The Hotel is in the very good location. The beds are very comfortable. However, The hotel staff is very difficult to deal with. She had a nonsmoking room available and told me that she did not. I requested an extended stay for another day. And her staff has already booked for me. She canceled it in front of me and told me that she can only give it to me if I am willing to pay a full price. She said the hotel is a privately own hotel and she does not care about the Crown Plaza reputation. I have filed complaint to the crown plaza headquarter.”

• Many coffee shops and convenience stores within walking distance. Free parking. Decent bar food.
• Walls were a little too thin.

“Easy to get to from NJ Turnpike. Short trip into Manhattan via Lincoln Tunnel. Close to Meadowlands and arenas. Good service and clean and comfortable. Free parking. Many nearby convenience stores for coffee et cetera. Bar and bar food were decent and inexpensive. Thin room walls.”

• Housekeeping staff, dining room staff, and doormen all very friendly and helpful. Room spacious, clean and comfortable. Location excellent.
• Front desk staff treated us like second class citizens on several occasions Calls to front desk two nights due to noise from school band.

“We were very happy with the location of this hotel as we were attending a hockey game at Continental Airlines Arena, only five minutes away. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable, however air conditioning was not working properly, even after hotel maintenance made adjustments. Front desk staff kept us waiting two hours for check-in and then put us in a room overlooking the air conditioning units on the roof. Majority of the floor was occupied by school band, who kept us up two consecutive nights. Housekeeping, dining room staff and doormen were all very helpful and friendly. ”

• Inconvenient to going to New York City, bus was inconvenient, outside meadowlands smelled like waste.

“The overall experience was okay. The rooms were spacious and clean, bed was updated. Breakfast buffet was good. Definitely a good price for a three star hotel. But unless I had business in Secaucus I would not stay here again. And I found the meadowlands location was nicer, more dining, shopping etc.”

“The hotel is good located and there is a public transportation to NYC. The room is quite big and wok However, there are no free Internet access in the room. You have to pay $10 per day for getting wireless access. There is no free local call, which I think is important for a hotel.”
