• Very clean and firm mattresses.
• Staff was not friendly.

“The hotel room was very clean. The continental breakfast was good. The mattresses were new. Everything worked. I would highly recommend it to someone who needed a quick and pleasant place to stay.”

• Perfect location, friendly staff, free breakfast, free internet, free parking.

“After staying in a 3.5 star hotel that cost us arm and leg, this hotel was much better deal with free parking, free internet, free breakfast. We were traveling with our little baby and had to check in early. Front office person, did not turn us down with our request and we even checked in a bit early. In the room, the hotel management has a booklet that says they care about their customers. They do stand to their commitment about their customer service. Over all we had a very happy time at this hotel. I highly recommend this property.”

• Nothing.
• Customer service was horrible, room was not clean and the decor is old and smelly.

“This hotel is probably the worst I have ever stayed in. The decor is old, smelly and the room was not clean. The bathroom was bad! The location is also not very good. Finally, the customer service was awful. The guest rep threw my card on the counter at me and I had to demand that she hand it to me as I had done to her. This is definitely not indicative of the service I expect from a Marriott. I will never stay there when visiting again.”

• They had a huge continental breakfast until 10!
• I asked for a roll away bed the night before my stay and was told I may not get it.

• Convenient access to downtown Manhattan by bus, only 20minute ride.
• The fitness equipment was outdated, would have enjoyed a larger fitness centre with newer equipment.

“This hotel had a great breakfast every morning. The items varied somewhat. The bus to Manhattan stops directly in front of the hotel and runs till the late night. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. They can store your bags after check out if you want to continue sightseeing in Manhattan or you may store your bags in the city at Schwartz Travel.”

“I enjoyed the hotel very much and I stayed there for 4 days and was very comfortable. The rooms were comfortable and were beyond my expectations. Breakfast was good, with a lot of varieties. The bus line is right outside the hotel and not too long or expensive of a ride into the city or to New Jersey's Mall. I would definitely stay here again, within in this area.”

• We liked the proximity to the bus line.
• There was no hotel computer available for guests.

“With the mix up with beds in the room on the first night we arrived, the stay was pretty good. I believe that due to the rating of the hotel, it attracts some unsavory guests. Good proximity to the bus line, but no convenient shopping facilities in walking distance. The service at the desk was sometimes rude, not very helpful and not very informative on issues that they should be aware of (i.e., how to get to certain freeway systems, where the closest shopping areas were, where restaurants were, etc.). In essence, the hotel served it is purpose for us; a clean, safe place to only rest and put our stuff while visiting the NJ/NY area.”

• Courteous helpful staff, excellent breakfast, convenient public transportation.
• The micro wave oven had broken down but there were plenty of other food choices. There was a new oven by breakfast the next day.

“This hotel provided a clean, safe, convenient, economical place to stay while visiting New York City. It was simple, easy and inexpensive to meet up with public transportation into the city. Good parking for private vehicle. The breakfast included with the room had great variety of foods. The dining area was bright and open.”

• The location was perfect to get the bus to NYC.
• My kids would have liked to swim.

“This hotel is in a great location for easy access to NYC. Bus in front of hotel every 10 to 20 minutes. The room was average. We stayed in a 2 double beds. Nice size bathroom. Breakfast in the morning was good. Had everything you could ask for in a free breakfast. Property was kept nice. Would stay again if in the area.”

• Very clean with great location just outside of New York.
• Check in as a couple and got two beds not one.

“Overall I was very pleased. The breakfast they had set out was very good and had a great variety to choose from. Would recommend to friends family and anyone looking to go to New York area.”

• The lady at the front desk could not have been any more friendly and helpful.
• Cleaning people knocked on my door even though I had a "privacy please" notice on the door.

“The lady at the front desk should be given a raise, or promotion, or whatever she wants. She was the nicest, friendliest, most helpful person I have ever met at a hotel. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the cleaning staff. What don't they understand about the "privacy please" sign? It means don't bother me, please; not, come in and wake me up because you want to clean the room. Checkout time was 12:00; they woke me up before 10. They were very rude.”

• Location wasn't bad but finding it was a problem and annoying at first.
• No hot water.

“Finding the hotel initially was a problem and I was familiar with the area. Also, more important, when I complained about no hot water to take a shower at 5pm, they did move me to another room, but still no hot water. Also, the heater did not work correctly. ”

• Breakfast buffet was included each morning in the lobby area and it was great.
• Drains in bathroom were very slow to drain out.

“The Fairfield inn/Marriott located in east Rutherford no was ideally located for an event we attended at the meadowlands expo center. Approximate 5 min drive. The continental breakfast included in the room rate and located in the hotel lobby was a lot more than we had anticipated (more that just donuts and bagels)! And was quite enjoyable.”

• There may be large groups of children on weekends for class trips.

“The bus stop for NYC is located right in front of the hotel. The complementary breakfast is enjoyable. Considering the overall price increase for all of the hotels in this area (the average price has doubled since May 2005), this hotel remains a good value and affordable.”

• The hotel was courteous, clean, and comfortable, with good continental breakfast.
• The location is awkward to reach.

“The hotel had a convenient checkout by 12:00. The front desk suggested tours for NYC, and even a local bus to Times Square, if we were interested. Our local point of contact was in Secaucus, for which the front desk offered directions. The room was neat and clean with courteous service.”

• The most helpful desk staff I have seen in ages.
• Styrofoam coffee mugs vs. ceramic.

“One of the desk staff literally navigated us via our cell phone from the Meadowlands Expo to the front door of the hotel. They provided local restaurant menus and referrals. Very helpful. I would go back.”

• Front desk couldn't provide directions to their hotel.

“You cannot beat this hotel for convenience into New York City without the high NYC hotel prices. Right on the bus line, 20 minutes to the main Manhattan Bus Terminal.”

• Great location for travel to NYC Port Authority
• Smelly, poor drainage in bathroom, cushy beds

“The hotel looks nice from the outside. Lobby is decent. Stuffy odor upon entering the hotel and in our room with AC on, the odor was not really that noticeable. The beds are extremely cushy. The bathroom is okay but poor drainage in shower and sink. The continental breakfast is okay. Location of the hotel is great, it's takes < 15 minutes to get to NYC Port Authority on the #163 or 164 bus. From EWR we took the #62 bus to Newark Penn Station, then the #76 bus to Patterson Rd, then caught the #163 to the Fairfield Inn.”

“The hotel is very good but Its breakfast options a little bit limited. Consequently, I like the hotel. We stayed 2 persons in a room. There is a one soap in the bathroom. Every body use same soap it would be two soap every room which has two beds. Consequently, I enjoyed.”
