“Is this place still open?! Okay when we arrived back 2005, we smelled mold in the air (strike one). Everything was moist and musty. The staff was rude at front desk (strike two). Arrived in the room and the bed broke down (strike three)! We checked out the same night. Don't waste your time or money. This hotel will only survive when they sweep house of its current employees!” Jul 17, 2008 by
Alicia from Paris, IL
“The parking area has security and everything inside looked brand new. From the airport it was only minutes, however the abandon factory neighborhood made it seem longer. The only choice for meals in the neighborhood, without having to drive 30 minutes, was the restaurant attached to the hotel. The food at the resort was good. If you are looking for a place to sleep near New York City, this is it, but not much else around here.” Jan 5, 2008 by
Ivan from Lehigh Acres, FL
“This hotel the only thing that has ok is that is close to the airport, it was the Ramada and now the Wenham and the renovation process was horrible, front entry dirty and furniture stained, front desk staff was not polite and we did not have cable TV for 2 days. No extra pillows and overall look of the hotel was horrible.” Jan 4, 2008 by
Kenneth from Memphis, TN
“Upon first arrival everything seemed good but with obvious observation, things were not. There were no convenient stores any the area. For those guests with extended stays, the hotel did not provide a refrigerator to store food items. And since there were no out restaurants closed by, guests were forced to use the hotel restaurant. The hotel had Direct TV but lost the feed on Saturday and was not reconnected until late Sunday evening. When the front desk was asked when the feed would be restored, the guest was constantly told a repairman was on the way. This started late on Saturday night and continued through Sunday. This hotel lacked many amentias taken for granted for hotels today.” Jan 4, 2008 by
Travonna from Indianapolis, IN
“Our first trip to the hotel was sort of a disaster. We called the hotel several times to get direction, however we kept getting "disconnected" and no one there was able to tell us how to get from the airport to the hotel, which was less than 2 miles away. Another thing was that the hotel Name had changed in between the time when I made the reservation and when we actually arrived. There was not an e-mail or any notification to inform us of the Name change. Had we not called to get direction we would have been driving around forever trying to find a hotel that was not there? The shuttle service between the hotel and the airport was good however, we were not told that after midnight the shuttle is only by demand and you must call the hotel to arrange for them to pick you up at the airport. Then once you call they wait until the half hour or the top of the hour to come pick you up.” Dec 17, 2007 by
Paul from New Bedford, MA
“You should not place people in hotels that are under renovation.” Dec 9, 2007 by
Li from Lock Haven, PA
“Nasty dirty impolite staff. Nasty looks from the desk clerks. Told to go outside to enter restaurant only to find entrance closed from extensive construction and when entering back into hotel saw the 2 clerks who gave wrong directions smiling and snickering.” Nov 18, 2007 by
Ryan from Atlanta, GA
“As an airline employee, often spending over 15 nights a months in one hotel or another, I am very reasonable in my expectations of my lodgings. At the least I always expect a clean room, kind staff, and good hotel transportation. The Ramada is fine in all of these areas. The rooms and hallways have been upgraded recently are visually appealing (mattresses and bedding are not to the same standard and are uncomfortable). The areas of improvement for this hotel are beyond their control. The noise at this property is simply unacceptable (traffic, aircraft, other guests, housekeeping). The area surrounding the hotel is not recommended for walking/jogging due to the lack of sidewalks, dangerous traffic, crime, panhandlers, garbage, and no close by restaurants, bars, or convenience stores. This is fine hotel for a short overnight stay for business travelers or a stranded passenger.” Oct 30, 2007 by
Kathy from Loughton GB
“It was conveniently located to the airport allowing me to get to the airport quickly for my early morning flight. It therefore served its purpose.” Oct 20, 2007 by
Katherine from Olympia, WA
“Uh, it's convenient to Newark airport, but that's about it. Wake up call came late (and messed up my schedule for the whole morning), staff was not friendly, bathroom was dirty, and lobby looked like we were in Beirut during a civil war. However, my room was nicely decorated, surprisingly, given the condition of the lobby.” Oct 17, 2007 by
Lewis from Columbus, GA
“Hotel was not comfortable. I feel the hotel could have been a little nicer for the money. Beds were uncomfortable. Bathroom was behind its time.” Oct 14, 2007 by
Ren from Mclean, VA
“Room service breakfast was terrible. Desk clerk was unhelpful and rude. Room was small. Vending machines were overpriced, poorly stocked, and in poor repair. If all you want is a bed to lay your head, this place is serviceable, though the bed did reek of stale tobacco.” Sep 30, 2007 by
Erik from Orinda, CA
“The room was clean, the water was hot, and the bus to the airport timely.” Sep 10, 2007 by
Scott from Prattville, AL
“The hotel location was fine and the rooms were neat and clean. However, the front desk staff were very curt and unfriendly; almost rude. I was also told upon check-in that one of the rooms I reserved was cancelled and they provided no explanation as to why. The hotel was fine; the staff leaves much to be desired.” Aug 4, 2007 by
Troy from Miami, FL
“Nice hotel but the soda machines on every floor are always empty.” Jul 21, 2007 by
Richard from Providence, RI
“Adequate for business and tight on budget.” Jul 21, 2007 by
Mak from Chicago, IL
“Just don't stay there very rude manager.” Jul 6, 2007 by
Monica from River Ridge, LA
“We enjoyed our stay.” Jun 24, 2007 by
Karen from Washington, UT
“OK for a quiet night's sleep. Try the outstanding homemade soup (lentil if they have it) in the restaurant; do not venture to the rest of the menu. It's quick, which makes it easy to get in and out without too much suffering.” Jun 23, 2007 by
Jan from Estero, FL
“It was ok -- but I most likely would not stay there again.” May 23, 2007 by
Adia from Holly Springs, NC
“The safe in my hotel was broken and they couldn't fix it until the day after my first night. And it turns out they didn't fix it even then, which was disappointing. Yet the bathroom was clean, the room was clean except for some spots on the bedspread. The door wouldn't open all the way, just partially... not that opening the door would do any good. But for a brief stay, it was near to the airport (quicker to get back /to/ the airport than to the hotel from it) and ran a shuttle. The frequency of the shuttle seemed to not be enough, and some people were turned away from a ride. At night I ended up waiting a long time for the shuttle at the airport and would have appreciated a greater frequency then, too, but I was the only one on it. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful though, even in dealing with the problems I had.” May 10, 2007 by
Sue from Rochester, NY
“I paid extra for a cot, which they didn't even know if they had any available. Did not think that was right. Other than that, the stay was fine.” Mar 5, 2007 by
Ella from Brattleboro, VT
“This hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful when asking for directions, food recommendations, etc. Internet is $9.99 for 24 hours, so that seems a bit ridiculous but parking is free, which made it more than worth it for me.” Jan 31, 2007 by
Jerry from Amarillo, TX
“The hotel was great.” Jan 18, 2007 by
Jim from Latrobe, PA
“Given the price, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the lobby and room were. Getting there off of rat 1&9 from the north was tricky. I missed it once (couldn't merge three lanes to the right because of heavy traffic) and had to take a grand tour of Newark to get back. The neighborhood is pretty crummy, but the best western nearby has an even worse location.” Jan 17, 2007 by
Ken from Broseley GB
“The hotel miff very functional with few frills but very good for my purpose as a solo business traveler requiring easy early morning access to Newark liberty international airport.” Jan 6, 2007 by
Sanaa from Flushing, NY
“That is not perfect in there cleaning but good enough. When it comes to the toilet I saw some dust.” Jan 4, 2007 by
Kenta from Rochester, NY
“The hotel was basically acceptable for me in respect of the price. However it limited the time that the vending service was available. This is what I was complaining about. Other things were fine.” Dec 6, 2006 by
Kathleen from Berlin, NJ
“Location to the airport was good and shuttle ran regularly. Staff at check in was non responsive and poker faced. We didn't feel welcome. Room was small and mattress was worn and flattened. The pillows were almost non existent and uncomfortable. We slept little. Got up on a Sunday morning, and no one could tell us where a church was, nor service times front desk woman on Sunday was snotty when we asked for her help to find services. Only coffee pot in room, and no continental breakfast or anything. We ended up gong to the restaurant needs a lot of renovation but the staff in the restaurant was nice service slow, but food adequate.” Nov 21, 2006 by
Lien T. from Eden Prairie, MN
“I suppose to have king side bed, turn out to be I have 2 double bed, the next day I have double bed for 2 people because my room was not clean when I come back from my day at 10 pm.” Sep 20, 2006 by
Sandy from Wake Forest, NC
“The place was decent enough, except for being stuck in a handicap-access room for longer than we wanted while waiting for availability of another room, rude room service, and having to ask for washcloths after our room was cleaned. Most of the front desk staff was pleasant enough, but not very friendly - if you didn't ask specifically, nothing more was offered or suggested. Room service left something to be desired: each of our meals was cold when received, except for a pizza which wasn't good, but wasn't worth the fight to get it changed.” Jun 29, 2006 by
Hyon from Olathe, KS
“I booked a room at this hotel for Friday - Sunday, when I went out Saturday morning and came back in the evening, my room was checked out and someone else was in my room.” Jun 20, 2006 by
Elizabeth from Hightstown, NJ
“Was listed as 2 star hotel, definitely deserves a better rating. Convenient, tastefully furnished, English speaking, American staff, FREE parking.” Jun 18, 2006 by
Rick from Philadelphia, PA
“This "Hotel" is a Dump. ” Jun 12, 2006 by
Lisa from Belleville, IL
“The staff was not friendly or helpful. My room was small and reeked of smoke. I met with my client with red eyes as I was allergic to the smoke and my client thought I was a smoker. I asked to be moved to a nonsmoking room and was told I got the room I requested.” Jun 1, 2006 by
Terry from Davison, MI
“The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. A nice restaurant and bar were convenient and the hours were good for our stay.” May 15, 2006 by
Leah from Denver, CO
“If I were judging this hotel by its' outside, I would never stay there. Fortunately, since I was traveling with my children, the room I had was very large and accommodating for our family. The staff was less than friendly and helpful. We would never choose to stay at this hotel again should we return to this area.” Apr 27, 2006 by
Ts from Lansing, NY
“This hotel is GREAT. I got a good price, it met my basic needs and surprised me by surpassing my expectations. The front desk staff was excellent in every encounter I had. The room, while not big, was perfect for what I needed. It looked like it had recently been renovated, furnishings & bathroom were flawless nice and it was very clean. I can't speak for rooms that may not have been renovated recently. This hotel obviously has many guests coming and going quickly so renovations probably were out fast. I was there for one night. I parked in front of the hotel and had no problems. However, I will say that it is VERY tricky to find the correct exit to this place. I'm not a bad navigator and I'm a seasoned city driver but I drove around making wrong turns and exploring really gross sections of Newark, passing the hotel four times before I actually arrived there. Also, for people like me, who are staying in a hotel in order to use long term parking and fly out of Newark, there are big new hotels like Spring Hill Suites and another one right next door (I forgot the name), that have reasonable rates and they are across from the long term parking lots. These would be much more convenient.” Apr 21, 2006 by
Satya from Paloalto, CA
“Several quality issues.(1) Hotel room dark, damp and did not have one of the bulbs, no "cups" for coffee - (2) Internet did not work for 12 hours as promised. When asked about it, I needed to go through couple of calls to eventually resolved with a "free extension" at the expense of my time and their time. (3) Fitness room is too small with older equipment (4) Directions are not simple from airport while it is right there close to airport. (5) Room key did not work multiple times. I had to get help from front-desk to get back into the room. (6) Bathroom water leaked into main room with a sizable area of the carpet that became wet.(7) While perhaps not intended, front-desk staff (couple of them seemed OK) lack a friendly and efficient approach to problem solving. This may be a "training" issue.” Feb 28, 2006 by
Jack from Vernon, CA
“Over all very good. More and better than I expected.” Feb 1, 2006 by
Jeremy
“Overall, it was perfect. My business meeting was right down the street so it was very convenient for me. The staff was mediocre, the van service was outstanding, and the dining was mediocre as well.” Dec 13, 2005 by
Marc from Midlothian, VA
“This hotel has reasonably nice rooms and the rooms are reasonably clean. The general areas of the building are dated in appearance and in some cases completely useless (the "drive up" components are terrible to begin with then the van drivers park their vehicles in a manner that makes a bad design completely useless). Overall the hotel benefits from geography, but a little tweaking here and there this could be a very pleasant hotel.” Dec 12, 2005 by
Suzanne from Philadelphia, PA
“This hotel was fine for the business traveler. The major complaints I have are that the walls are extremely thin, so after around 4:30 a.m. there is no sleep to be had because it sounds like everyone who is arising is in your room. Also, the night I stayed there, it snowed about 6 inches. My car was parked outside in the lot, where I had to drudge in heels and luggage without any shoveled path. Otherwise, this hotel is clean and the staff were helpful.” Nov 6, 2005 by
Steven from Oxford, NY
“Checked into a non smoking room, after practically begging for it. Smelled of wet ashtrays. Checked me into another room that was flooded the week before and smelled of horrible strong mildew. had to get another room that again smelled like ashtrays, the beds and pillow are not comfortable. Again the front desk help are extremely rude!!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 23, 2005 by

“Staff was great, left wallet in room upon departure and when I returned a couple of hours later, Ruthie had found it and returned it to me. Overall, appearance of the hotel needs some work, room was fine but from the outside the place looks sort of scary.” Oct 19, 2005 by
Steven from Oxford, NY
“Right off of 1 and 9. Takes for ever to check in hotel clerks rude, and missing from station for extended periods of time. Rooms smelled like a wet ashtray and it was a non smoking. and tried to check me out during my 4 day stay after 2, till they found the right check out date.” Oct 16, 2005 by
Tabitha
“The worse place I've ever stayed.” Sep 19, 2005 by
Lukun from Fairport, NY
“This hotel exceeded my expectation for a 2 star hotel. The room was very nice, clean, nice decorated and good size bath room. Great location too.” Jun 22, 2005 by
Kanita from Elk Grove, CA
“It was okay. Rude staff, but large rooms” Jun 19, 2005 by
Nathan from Mayville, ND
“Located in an asphalt jungle, and needing some freshening up in the lobby area. The room itself was recently redone and BEAUTIFUL! It was much nicer than expected, and a real bargain for what we paid.”
