- Clean, beautiful interior, good rates, close to beach (once you actually get outside).
- Long walk to outside/boardwalk, be prepared to wait to get into your room.
“When we arrived, we were "upgraded" to the new Havana Tower. We had to wait for 3 hours, with 3 exhausted kids and handfuls of stuff, but thought it would be great because of this "upgrade". However, we did not realize it would be a 10-15 minute walk anytime we wanted to get outside the hotel. The pools and facilities were fine and the staff seemed friendly enough. By the end of our 2 days there, though, our leg muscles were really sore! If you have small children, Do not stay in the Havana Tower! Both of the other towers are much closer to the boardwalk exit and have pools on the 3rd floor. If you don't mind spending the majority of your time inside the resort (all the shops are very upscale and expensive) shopping or gambling, this would be a great place.”

- Location & the amenities inside the hotel.
- Wait staff in the casino did not bring drinks & adamantly ignored you when asked for one.
“Wait staff in the casino was appalling! I could not get a drink the 10+ hours I spent in the hotel & actually had to pay $12 to get a drink the casino bar. When I would stop a waitress for a drink they'd say they'd come back & not return. Very understaffed for how busy the casino was. Otherwise, the hotel is nice but nothing spectacular. Housekeeping was favorable & provided a hairdryer within 10 minutes to my room. I stayed in the north tower which, is not yet updated, but room was definitely acceptable for 1 one. Location of casino in relation to the boardwalk & other casinos was really the only clear benefit of this hotel & the buffet inside had great food.”

“We are probably hotel snobs, but like being treated like we matter. And it was obvious that we didn't. We checked in at 9:00 with 2 small exhausted children and had to wait an hour for our room to be ready. The hotel was clean (especially for a casino!), but we were in the new Havana addition. The west tower was not so pristine. I had to go searching for kid-friendly restaurants and activities. The hotel was no help. We got the internet and did some research. The internet cost $11. My husband was there on business - and even that was made difficult when no one would direct him to the free shuttle. After much persistence. We figured things out. We would not stay there again.”

- The parking garage was very lit up.
- Used soap in bathrooms.
“Stayed in the north tower bathroom wasn't clean , there was used soap in the soap dish not just one bar but 3 on top of each other, disgusting !!! the room was blue stripes with an old Formica counter/bureau NO refrigerator have to pay if you want one. The bed sheets looked dingy made me feel like they weren't changed. Also seem like a long walk to get to the casino floor which was cramped together.”

- The restaurant pf changes.
- Tropicana had no plants, flowers, trees, flamingos etc. Poorly decorated.
“Tropicana implies a tropical motif yet there was nothing to indicate this in the room or the lobby. Boring hotel. No bars or smoking. Casino cocktail waitress asked if you want a drink and then roll eyes if you say yes. Staff consistently lied. On the phone I was told that all the in room Jacuzzis had been turned into walk-in showers. Not true. In the casino I asked where the 24 hour coffee shop was and was told there was only a deli. Also not true. I definitely would not stay here again. I also doubt I would bother with this destination (Atlantic city) again. They know how to take the fun out of gambling. If I'm going to loose my money gambling I want it to be fun. There was no sports book for betting on pro sports either.”

“I just came back and I was very disappointed this time. First of all not enough smoking areas in the casino and the ones that they have are very nasty. Not clean. Very dirty. The room was OK. The casino in my opinion has gone down hill. I will not stay here anymore even though it is free for me. Not enough people working at the slots.”

- Service was slow and personnel were very unfriendly.
- All the employees were irritable, and seemed unhappy to help.
“The room was acceptable, but nothing spectacular. The service was appalling, (it took over an hour to get a corkscrew). The rest of the waitresses and dealers in the casino seemed angry that they had to deal the cards or get drinks. Which made me feel like I was imposing. I would never stay at this hotel again. I would feel better if I had stayed at a hotel with a fewer star rating cause at least I would be saving money and would be expecting the less than par service.”

- Renovation is really nice, Get a room in the new part, We were in the old part not yet renovated, but still ok!
- Casino was crowded not enough table games open. Patrons packed around the tables that were open.

- The public spaces were straight out of the tropics & we felt as if we'd had a wonderful getaway while remaining in no.
- Our room was not ready at 4:20 in the afternoon & we had to wait about 20 minutes before we could get into it. There was a 3 p.m. Check-in time.
“The hotel public spaces felt like we were in the middle of 1950's Cuba: beautiful ambiance, nice feel of the tropics. We attended a concert there and were very comfortable with the seating and the feel of the room. Our room was very comfortable with nice amenities and we enjoyed our experience there very much. We plan to go back in the future.”

- The room was very nice for the price that we paid. However, the hotel is so large it was difficult finding your way about.
- There is no "customer service" in this hotel. I've never met so many unhappy, unresponsive, unfriendly people in one place.

- Beautiful casino, classy rooms with large beds, ocean front view and a friendly crowd! HUGE Tub!
- The air conditioning did not work very well.
“We arrived late (around 9 PM) and were given a beautiful ocean view room on the 22nd floor. The room was huge and almost perfect except for the size of the TVs (19"? or less) There was a large wall separating the living area from the sleeping area, which was convenient in some ways. The best part of the hotel was our tub. It was virtually a hot tub.. large enough to easily fit 2 people, and the jets made it a thrill. Would definitely stay again!”

“The hotel itself was nice for a casino or hotel combo. The lobby doesn't have anywhere to sit though, which is highly inhospitable of them. It took us half an hour to get checked into a room that hadn't been prepared yet, which was not impressive. But in the end our room was quite nice and the hotel is conveniently located.”

“We were upgraded to a suite, probably since it was midweek. Ocean view and two TVs, two refrigerators. The hotel and casino are very clean, upscale and crowded. It has many restaurants, a wonderful gourmet grocery type store with a wonderful soup and salad bar and a hot food bar. Except to sightsee there was no reason to leave.”

- North Tower rooms have coffeemakers, hairdryers and views of the ocean.
- Most areas of the casino and the restaurants were very smoke filled.
“At $42 a night our room in the North Tower was a steal. Checked in at 3 PM on Sunday to a clean room with ocean view, coffeemaker, hairdryer and small refrigerator. Got our free Diamond Club membership, so parking came to $5 when we checked out on Monday at 5PM. Enjoyed Cuba Libra & Restaurants in the Havana Quarters and won $500.”

- Very convenient.
- Hotel room was not clean yet when we arrived (late arrival).
“Hotel was average. Very convenient due to the fact the casino was "in house". Called ahead of time for late arrival and king size bed. When we arrived at midnight (after over-hearing 2 other couples with the same problem) our room was 2 double beds and had not been cleaned yet. I was shocked that it was midnight and the room had not been cleaned. We had to wait in the hall for our room to be cleaned. Other then that, staff was pleasant. Very surprised that a hotel with this rating would have such a problem preparing the room to be clean by midnight.”

- Friendly staff.
- Souless casino.
“The Tropicana is a large casino with several hotel towers. The check in process was slow but friendly. The rooms were large, clean and quiet. The casino is the reason to go, the hotel faces the ocean, yet you'd never know it and the public spaces were big, colorful but without life, its gambling here ONLY, or nothing. Would I stay here again, NO, I've been there, done that.”
