• The view at my window and the NY Times at my door.
• No quiet bar.

“The Congress has a storied history and has undergone a fine restoration. There is enough authentic elegance that remains of the original appointments with comforts provided by the renovation. B&B's are wonderful in Cape May, but if you'd rather be by yourself for breakfast and sleep in a room less Victorian, this is your place.”

• Old style.
• Dirty towel, ants in bathroom.

“Old style hotel charm but with old hotel floors sloped. We were told getting a queen bed but bed size was only a full size bed. On of the towels though was cleaned had stains all over it. There were also ants in the bathroom around the sink. Should of stayed at a comfort inn.”

• The brown room lounge - great bar, great atmosphere.
• Not very private; you can hear the people next door chatting.

“My husband and I had a great time. The room was quaint and the bathroom was huge, with a glass stand-up shower and separate tube with jets. Very nice, though the tub was not completely clean. That was our only complaint, however.”

• Centrally located.
• Again, we had difficulties with the billing process. The hotel wanted to charges us again for the rooms.

“Congress Hall is a beautiful hotel located at Cape May, NJ. Rooms are attractive with BASIC amenities. Unfortunately, we travel off season and many of the amenities you come to expect at a hotel like the Congress Hall were not available to our guest or our family (I wish somebody would have mentioned this important detail during our booking process). On Thursday afternoon, we could not find a staff available to prepare an Espresso coffee. We also discovered that there was no room service available for lunch during the weekdays, and no spa services available during the weekdays. Certainly if you come to enjoy of the Congress Hall amenities, you better place your reservation only for the weekends. The staff was particularly not friendly or helpful, with exception of the cleaning crew, which was fabulous and friendly towards our child. If you are traveling with children, you may be better off staying at a friendly family bed and breakfast than at the Congress Hall.”

• It is quaint and just across the street from the beach.
• Limited services--at least this time of year. No indoor pool.

“Congress Hall is a wonderful old hotel, but initially was given a tiny room. Fortunately, the person on duty upgraded us. Still, we saved only about 25% and got no indoor pool or 24-hour food service.”

• The fact that it was clean and comfortable. Great location charming and a nice restaurant.
• The front desk help not all but one in particular was not very helpful. We had the impression that some things were not her job!

“Its more for adults I think. It's a lovely structure and a classy interior. The bar area was very nice. I would like to see entertainment from Thursday thru Sunday. Maybe some jazz and piano. The grounds were very nicely maintained except for the parking lot. It should be hidden from the rest of grounds maybe some landscaping. But overall a great stay and We would stay again.”

• Old world beauty.
• Dinner overpriced and not top quality.

“I enjoyed the hotel thoroughly. We will return again. The bathroom was huge. Was not too impressed with the fish and chips in the restaurant. $16 and it was a little bland. Other than that, it was a home away from home. Very cozy. The pictures do not do it justice. The bathroom was huge with a separate tub and shower.”

• Restored architecture, free valet parking, free wireless internet.

“This historic beach hotel has been beautifully restored with modern conveniences like DVD players and free wireless internet in the rooms but it is an old hotel. The floors are not level in places and the stairs may creak at times. If you find this charming or romantic, this is the hotel for you.”

• Walking to everything, very convenient. Windows open for fresh ocean air and sounds.

• There wasn't anything we did not like.

• Close to beach and very clean.
• The staff was not friendly, Not greeting with warm welcome.

“Although the hotel was great, the one flaw exceeding what was good about Congress Hall. The staff was not friendly. I have been to many hotels and the welcoming was "dead". Cleaning people also were not friendly. No one was rude but they seemed indifferent. I get a better greeting in Starbuck only spending $5.00.”

“Beutiful old Hotel in the center of Cape May. the views are nice, they beds comfortable, and the service was excellent. Nice amenities in the bathroom with seperate shower. Would definately stay again.”

• The bed was very comfortable, didn't want to leave it.

“The hotel is very clean and the staff is friendly, the Blue Pig restuarant in the hotel was fantastic. Also we loved the lounge, the fireplace was lit, and had a very cozy atmosphere. Excellent waitstaff, and bartender.”

“We thought that Congress Hall was a charming place to stay. The room had a very relaxing atmosphere. The room was spotless. We were left plenty of clean towels and enough pillows for the bed. Usually wherever we stay we have to call down for extra. That was a plus for us.”

• The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
• They were in the mists of a major remodel.

“My stay at the Congress Hall Hotel was very nice. Their food and service was most excellent. It was too bad that they were in the middle of a major remodel. I would choose to stay there again in the future.”

• Service was pretty good, nice gift shops. Loved the down feather comforter.
• Cost for coffee in room $8.00. SHOULD BE FREE. Room price and rating was too high for this place.

• noise from other rooms and hallway

“not for those looking for a place with modern amenities. This is a historic bldg that has been refurbished as wall as you could and still keep it's old world charm. But having done that they had to make some sacrifices in what some might come to expect in a hotel room by today's standards. For what I paid it was well worth it but these rooms get as much as 300/nite in season and at that rate i would expect much much more.”

• The atmosphere was awesome and all the employees were wonderful
• I wish they had a hot tub

“This hotel exceeded our expectations with the quality and comfort of the bed. Also excelled in the area of employees. They are the nicest, most helpful people. I will be back.”
