• Hotel just changed hands. There were maintence issues. No hot water in first room & door handles that opened wrong.

• Nicely renovated with contemporary decor, internet, and entertainment features. Very friendly and helpful staff.
• Breakfast choices were good but were of poor quality. Pool area under construction and no whirlpool or sauna planned.

“Very nicely renovated establishment with well designed modern decor, comfortable - clean rooms with all new furnishings, internet access, flat screen TV's, and movies on demand. They still have a few minor technical quirks to work out but the staff was very friendly and helpful and resolved any issues quickly and pleasantly. Convenient location for business or family travel to Philly. Breakfast buffet had many choices but the quality could stand for improvement. Grounds could use some landscaping improvements for purely aesthetic reasons. Pool renovation not complete yet and no hot tub, whirlpool, fitness center, or sauna planned according to staff - too bad, could easily be a 3 star hotel with those additions and some attention to detail. Overall, very pleasant experience and would recommend.”

• The room was nice and cozy.
• The faucet in the bathroom, to turn on hot, you had to turn on full blast.

“I liked this hotel. It served its purpose. There are a lot of good restaurants within a 5 minute drive. The beds were comfy as well as the room. The only thing I wish it had was a drawer so that I could put my clothes in. The heating unit was something left to be desired and it could have been upgraded, but that is minor. Overall, I enjoyed my stay, the staff was very friendly and professional. I would recommend this hotel for people to stay. The only thing is, they are in the middle of construction at the hotel and were very courteous when I called the front desk the day after I arrived and complained about the banging. The GM called me up and apologized and the banging ceased. I would definitely stay here again.”

• Very few channels utilized on the plasma TV.

“Slightly upscale, modern and extremely pleasant and helpful staff. The bed is outfitted with enough pillows to hide your pet elephant. The bathroom is immaculately clean and large enough to let your in-laws sleep in. Business style necessities and leisure style perks. An overall moderately lavish stay while only dropping the smaller bills out of your wallet.”

“Long-standing renovations appear to be complete, everything is very high-quality. Room was nice, with central air but bathroom faucet had only one central knob (i.e. Only one temperature water, "tepid"-why is this upgrade?) Staff was very friendly and polite; turn-off from Route 1 is still a nightmare.”

• Still under construction, turn off of Route 1 is very abrupt.

“Still under construction, but things which are completed look like high quality. Rooms are nice and clean, the fitness center is mediocre but there is a pool which is kept pretty warm (however it is circular, so unsuited for swimming laps). Free parking but the turn off of Route 1 is very easy to miss, and also dangerous if someone is close behind you, they need to redo the turn-in.”

• They were updating all there rooms the one I stayed in was very nice flat screen TV on the wall.
• Major remodeling going on the hotel was a mess only one working ice machine.

“The room I stayed in was nice but the hotel was in the process of a major reconstruction of the hotel & rooms. I would stay here after they finish remodeling the faculties.”

• Free wireless Internet access, showerhead was very high up.
• Lobby was under construction, turn-off from Route 1 is *very* easy to miss.

“Located off of route 1 in Northeast Philly, has a very difficult entrance drive to find and turn onto (make sure no one is speeding behind you!). Entire first floor is under construction, but there are signs telling you where to go. Rooms are very nice, central air, free wireless (or wired) Internet access, showerheads are very high up for those people who often bump their heads in hotel showers.”

• Staff was friendly and apologetic for the hotel conditions.
• Under severe construction, woke us up at 7:30 AM with loud construction noise, had to have worker move scaffolding to exit hotel.

“We had to have the room hallway light on (as you come in the room door)-in order to have the desk light or any of the outlets along the desk wall to work. This hotel should have shut down while under renovation. Even the hotel front desk clerk had a hard hat on and a flannel jacket as we were checking out because the construction crew had the lobby all torn up! It was a complete nightmare. I am sure it will be beautiful when it's done. We got to see what it will look like when it's all done, but we wish we had the option to have stayed elsewhere while this work was being done. I might add, once again, that the hotel staff were very much apologetic about the conditions.”

“I am very upset with my stay. The hotel is currently being renovated. And, the lobby is blocked off, the first three floors and no in use and you can see it from outside. The room that I was put in had a three inch space under the door. I froze! Even with the heat on 90.very unhappy.”

• Lounge, dining area nice, with plenty of TV's to watch any sports games.
• Both indoor pool and weight room unheated, pool area extremely loud echoes, intolerable had to leave.

“Hotel is centrally located just outside of Phila. Nice value hotel, but don't expect to use the pool area in the winter, the way it is built as a bad echo could not even talk to the person next to you without a loud echo, never had this bad of sound in a pool area, Rooms were ok, TV's need to be updated and a 1.50 to make a local call use your cell phone.”

• The kitchen in the rooms plus the glass plates and cups.
• It doesn't have the greatest location. It's about ten minutes from the highway and 30 minutes. North of Downtown Philly.

“Excellent hotel. You get cookies upon check-in as well. Only downside is the location if you're planning to see Philly. However, it is only 30 minutes by Interstate (very durable).”

• I loved the wireless high speed and fitness center the most. The hotel staff was excellent also.
• The only downfall would be the lack of refrigerator.

“Convenient to everything. Shopping, restaurants. Whatever you might need, it is walking distance from the hotel. Staff is very friendly. Fitness center and pool for relaxing. Overall, I loved it. I definitely recommend this hotel.”

• Their service, the cookies are delicious and comforting after a stressful day.
• The prices of the food in the restaurant area, I felt that they were too high.

“The hotel was comfortable, I had a smoking room which was nice, as well as the restaurant staff and the night security being very friendly. My only dark spot was when the maitred basically accused me of smoking pot by the pool, I told him it was my cigar and he was very rude and condescending with me. He ticked me off, because he would not have spoken to others that way, I felt that because I was a single African American mom he felt he could talk to me any way he wanted. To me, for that much money, staff should be as nice to me as they would a white male business traveler, or anyone else for that matter.”

“We found the pool a nice feature, but not well maintained. The rooms were clean, but rather no frills. The lobby was average. The staff made the place a definite repeat for us- they were very customer oriented!”

“Hotel better than I thought and better than reviews said. We went to Sesame Place, and it was 15-20 minutes away, which was fine. It was clean, staff friendly, and it looks like they are cleaning it up. I'd go again.”

• Very friendly staff and employees.
• It was not an extended stay hotel but very beautiful in it's own right.

“Hotel is excellent for travelers and tourists. But, for people who travel for work and stay in that area for a month or longer, this is not an ideal hotel Doubletree northeast is an excellent hotel because of its location, very friendly staff, amenities and restaurants. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.”

• I liked the location.
• The rooms were small.

“They charge 10.00 a night for a refrigerator or microwave. The electricity was out for a few hours on night I was there they did try to do any thing to accommodate us. I stayed from Monday to Saturday. Asked for late check out, Joe at the front desk stated they couldn't give me a late check out, asked for his manager. Then he said that's fine he could get it. What a stay! I can go on!”

• Clean and friendly staff, onsite breakfast available, great wireless internet connection and extra sofa bed.
• No refrigerator/microwave.

“Hotel staff was friendly, let us check-in before 3 p.m. and of course came with the warm cookie. Wireless internet connection was good, bathroom was clean. Sheets are snow white, sofa bed clean and soft. Lobby and hallway looks great. Location was near many big malls on route 1.”

• Room was not cleaned well. Hot water was turned off during my stay.

“Hotel is in a strange location. Right by the city, but kind of in the middle of nowhere highway-wise. I'd sent written requests before hand which were not acknowledged. Room seemed as though someone had been in it for a short time, then was not turned over. 3 of four glasses were really dirty, I do not mean not thoroughly cleaned, I mean used and not cleaned. There was hair on the bathroom floor and in the shower. There was a sock that was left under the edge of the bed. The remote control did not work. I called the front desk about that, was put on hold, clerk did not pick back up. I had to call back. Maintenance man was nice and helpful. I put the card out requesting that the linens be changed each of the two times the room was cleaned (because the room seemed iffy when I arrived). Bed was made up, but linens were never changed. There was only one entrance to the hotel, which was a little inconvenient, since my room was as far as you could possibly be from the front door. To top it all off, the last morning of my vacation I received a phone call woke me up at 8:30am (my alarm was set for 9 and no one had my number, so I did not answer the phone.) When I got up there was a letter under my door from the manager stating the hot water was going to be turned off at 9am for maintenance. I found the phone call at 8:30 was to tell me the hot water was going to be turned off at 9. Nice I am not generally a picky person. I know you usually get what you pay for, that is why I am disappointed this upscale establishment came up so short. I would not stay here again. There are plenty of other places that are better for the same $ or less. I guess I should say something nice. The bed was comfortable.”

• It was a great location, very close to everything I needed to do.
• Room was tiny, walls were paper thin, bed poorly made, room was dusty.

“I got a very good price on the room; it was well worth the amount I paid. However, I could clearly hear the conversation going on in the next room. I wasn't comfortable using the phone, listening to music or watching TV because I was sure the guests in the next room could hear it. The bed wasn't made right, when I turned down the spread the sheets had pulled off one corner. Also, the room smelled stale, as if it hadn't been cleaned or aired out recently. The fitness room was nice, but there was no changing room, shower or locker room for the pool, so I didn't use it, I didn't want to walk through the lobby in my suit.”

“Early Wednesday (March 28, 2007) morning there was a water leakage from the ceiling and wetted my bed and the phone was not working, I was forced to leave early. Went downstairs, since I would need to be back coming Tuesday for two nights, I had asked for a discount when I check in next time but they would not. ”

“Definitely not a 3 1/2 star hotel. I would give it a 2 1/2 star. Rooms were nice, but gave too few pillows and towels. Breakfast was not included in the price, and we were charged $9 for cereal and to make our own waffles. The breakfast wasn't worth $9 period and I have never ever stayed at a hotel that did not include at least a continental breakfast with the price. However, the price we got made it worth it and I will definitely use again. I would never pay the full price for this hotel; however, I was happy with the quality I got for the price I paid.”

• Crowded pool with unsupervised children screaming.

“The pool should have the rules enforced. We were looking forward to this hotel because of the indoor pool, but could not use it because it was overrun with kids that were unsupervised. They were running around screaming and jumping into the pool on top of other kids. We let one of the staff know and they shrugged it off and said it's always like that. The cafe staff was very rude and the prices were outrageous. Other than that our experience was great. Front staff and housekeeping were friendly and helpful.”

• Everyone that worked there was very friendly, and always ready and willing to accommodate.
• I like the pool, but didn't like how echo-y the room was. Also, would have been nice to have a Jacuzzi.
