• Hotel staff giving false information over phone, ruining trip.

“This hotel is an excellent location; the facilities and room accommodations are superb. The room service is significantly above average. The staff, in general, is of a stellar variety. However, having even one member on staff who is of a lesser quality is detrimental. One staff member ruined our entire trip. The point of our trip was for my son and me to visit his father. When his father called to be transferred to our room, a member of the staff told him we had checked out (false) and told him that we had checked out the day before (very false!). This caused us not only to miss visiting him, but also caused us many problems, due to the gross error on the part of this particular Marriott staff member. The fact that she determined we checked out on the day we checked in is disturbing. The fact that she felt at liberty to give this inaccurate information out over the phone is even more disturbing. This recklessness ruined our trip, propagating a lie, and separating us from enjoying our family.”

• Ordered room service mom ordered the wings yeech no flavor and tuff.

“My mom was visiting from Holland so I did an early Mothers day. The room was spotless and the beds felt as if you were sleeping on a cloud. They have just remodeled the Hotels and the Lobby is Grand. Everything is easy to access the layout is great. But don't order the chicken wings. Undercooked and they looked like drum sticks that chicken was old and tuff.”

• At first, the room I received did not meet my expectations, but the staff was very eager to work with me and give me a wonderful room.
• The hotel had left a used silverware and plates outside of my room. I had to remove the items myself even though I complained many times.

• Interior design and style too conservative and traditional.

“The Marriott is a perfectly acceptable hotel if you are looking for continence and general cleanliness, and proximity to Center City. The downsides, to me personally, are: it's big. it has a huge and outrageously loud lobby, it's all tile and the sound echoes because there are so many people hanging out in the lobby. There seem to be a number of conventions and the hotel parking lot was full when we checked in. I much prefer a boutique hotel that is small and caters to an audience with a stylish aesthetic. I prefer a modern decor rather than the traditional and conservative decor of the Marriott. But a quick one night visit for business or even a quick leisure visit for 1 or 2 nights the Marriott is perfect.”

• Easy access to town area events and attractions.
• No parking availability.

“The hotel stay was great! The room was comfortable and the room service was prompt and efficient. However, I cannot stress this enough, the parking options are horrible! If you drive be prepared to pay in excess of $40.00 per day for valet parking, and $30.00 per day for self parking! This is absolutely insane!”

• I liked everything about staying there.

“Initially upon arriving to the hotel I was shocked at how great the location was. I was even more impressed when I walked into the lobby and saw how nice everything looked. I loved every minute of it. The hospitality of the staff was stellar. The cleanliness of the room was superb. I would be so lucky to get a deal like this again.”

• The location was great!
• I was shocked to learn from staff that the Marriott did not offer courtesy parking.

“The staff was curt and short in there responses. The Marriott offered us parking at a rate of $47.00 per night! I was forced to seek alternative parking on my own for $30.00 per day. I was very disappointed to have to pay for parking. Robbery! The hotel was in a good location and clean.”

• The beds were incredibly comfortable.
• Never had contact with bellman or doorman.

“The hotel was comfortable, but with a four star rating I was expecting more from the staff. Never did we get assistance from Bellmen or doormen. We actually had to assist an elderly women w/luggage because there was no one around. The initial room clean left a little to be desired. But the room was comfortable. I would recommend to others.”

• Great room, beautiful decoration, excellent location.
• Expensive parking, hard to find the first time around, some employees were a little but rough talking to me.

“Very comfortable room and very clean. Their is a Starbucks in the premise, but the breakfast options are not many, and a bit expensive in one of the hotel restaurants. But, because the hotel is so close to the market, my second night I ate at the diner there for less and much better food. The hotel parking fee is pretty expensive ($41), but there is a parking garage right in front of it, I paid $30, still expensive, but better. What I was not very happy is that the hotel doesn't have free Internet access, you have to pay $9.99 for every night you use it. There is wireless access in the Starbucks, but you have to be a T-mobile costumer.”

• Very crowded and noisy lobby due to convention crowds.

“Incredibly crowded, noisy, chaotic lobby due to conventions (the weekend prior to the PA primary). Polite helpful desk clerk. Perfectly comfortable room. Didn't sample bars or restaurants so no comment on those. Did buy coffee at the lobby Starbucks as we left on Sunday at around 11 a.m. Huge, long lines, very long waits. Polite staff working as hard & fast as possible, but understaffed.”

“I would highly recommend this hotel to business and leisure travelers. It is centrally located near public transportation and within walking distance of many attractions, retail stores and restaurants. The staff could not be nicer. The room was very quiet. It was nicely decorated and very clean.”

• Cost of parking was outrageous; front desk staff so-so, room ok but dated.

“As is so often the case with large Marriott convention hotels, this one lacked personality. The staff varied from wonderful (the parking valets) to sneering and indifferent (check-in front desk personnel). The room was surprisingly un-soundproofed, with the sound of showering in other rooms coming through the walls. No free wireless in the room is ridiculous in this day and age.”

• Congested drive-up entrance, High priced parking.

“If you drive to the Downtown Philadelphia Marriott, save time and money by parking at one of the nearby city garages rather than fighting the congestion at the hotel entrance to use the overpriced valet parking service. Public transportation and sightseeing busses are within a few steps of the hotel entrance. This is a centrally located, big, busy hotel that is adjacent to the Philadelphia Convention Center and across the street from the Reading Terminal Market.”

• Parking and entering to valet parking area were confusing and crowded.

• This was a family vacation, but I was called for work. I was able to leverage the business nature of the hotel to accommodate both roles.
• Finding the valet parking was a little confusing.

• Great location in the center of Philly. Just six blocks from the historical district.
• Parking is a joke. $41 a day to park at the hotel or $30 across the street.

• We loved the pool and hot tub.
• Restaurant food was mediocre. Waitress was on her first night. Took about 20 minutes for her to bring ice cream so we canceled it and left.

“The hotel staff was helpful and polite. The room was spacious with the amount of drawer space necessary. The pool area was clean and had extended hours which suited our needs.”

• The hotel needs to be updated. The rooms were cold and not warm feeling. They seemed out of date for a large city and the location the hotel was in.

• The hotel was located in a ideal spot in Downtown Philadelphia.
• We wanted to order two simple hamburgers for room service and were told it would be an hour wait!

“The room we initially got when we first checked in was a nice, moderate sized room which we would have been fine with but it wad two double beds instead of the king we requested. No problem. We called up the front desk and we were told that we'd be transferred to a DELUXE room with a king bed! Not only that, but an employee came up to the room to give us the keys for the new room--we didn't have to go back down to the front desk to get them. Once we got to the new room! HUGE room, beautiful high ceilings, big plush bed with tons of pillows, and a very sizeable bathroom! Overall our stay at the hotel was a steal. We had an amazing time!”

• Extremely beautiful space, beautiful pool, sauna, steam room combo; best location in Philly.
• They're doing renovations; so large that it can seem not intimate enough.

“This is one of Philadelphias prime locations - located close to City Hall, the Convention Center, Center City entail and the prime Business District - it has location, location, location! It is also quite upscale in its range of amenities and the quality of its customer service. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, however, it typically too expensive!”

• Parking fees too expensive and construction annoying.

“My boyfriend and I stayed at the hotel for one night. The location is amazing and the staff was very friendly. The only downfall was the construction (I believe it should be done in April) and the parking fees were pretty high. Friends of our ended up parking at a meter around the corner and ended up paying $1. Wish we had done that!”
