• Air vent in bathroom very noisy; shower made squealing sound.

“I told all of my friends about the luxurious accommodations that we enjoyed for the bargain basement price! The hotel is right across the street from the Reading Terminal (great shopping!), had a luxurious lobby great for meeting with friends, and was right across the street from Maggiano's and the Melting Pot. Couldn't have asked for more!”

• Tremendous location, right next door to the train station and the Redding Terminal. Walking distance to all the popular sights. Very clean and quiet.

• Very comfortable beds and bedding!
• Staff was terrible in all areas, except housekeeping.

“I cannot say enough about the bedding, but other aspects of the hotel were outdated and the paint was peeling a bit in the bathroom. While the lobby and restaurants appeared 4-star, the service was definitely not (especially at the restaurant '13').”

• Very prestigious.
• The location was a little less than ideal.

“Our stay at the Marriot was wonderful. Once we found the Mall attached to the hotel via the Convention Center our stay was even better. We could buy quick meals at resonable prices and could window shop as well. The street area is a little scary especially the area set aside for smokers, there is no security there and the panhandling is excessive.”

• Within walking distance to subway, restaurants, everything in Center City.

“I booked it at the last minute and got a great deal. The hotel was beautiful, looks new, very chic. Got on the subway (a block from hotel) to see a show at Wachovia and were there in minutes. Check in was easy, they were very friendly. Would definitely stay there again.”

“Everyone from the front desk, to the bell service to the valet were some of the most friendly, warm and welcoming people I have ever seen in a hotel, especially one in a metropolitan area. I will stay at this hotel every time I visit Philadelphia from now on.”

• Central city location.
• Rodent, parking and the cabs blocking the drive way.

“Overall, the hotel is in a great location, shopping area, and restaurant. The problem the hotel needs to address is the rodent, i.e. mice. We were not pleased with staying in a hotel for that price and they had mice! The internet price is $12.95 and the parking fee is $43.50 a night, ridiculous! Also, the lot is full every day, so you had to find a place to park in places that cost just as much!”

• Conveniently located.
• Difficult to enter, poor service, lack of cleanliness in room.

“This hotel has a very good location for exploring Philadelphia or conducting business. It has the potential to be really good, but in order to be considered really good, they seriously need to improve guest services, bring valet parking back into the hotel itself instead of contracting it out, and have more oversight on cleaning. The mattresses are substandard and slide off the bed frequently. We had one towel in our room and the only cleaning person I could find, told me it wasn't her section. The bathroom curtain was stained. We had to wait about 20 minutes before we were able to get someone to check our car into valet parking. Wired internet is costly (13.95/night) and wireless was unavailable. Not a bad hotel but certainly not worth a 3 star rating.”

• Modern, convenient to all, helpful staff, clean.
• Parking was expensive. The pool was small.

“The Downtown Marriott is perfectly located between the museums to the west and old town/independence hall to the east. It is also very large and easy to get lost in. It has two sections, and we were in the 2nd section across a breezeway, but the rooms were fabulous and very large. Staff was superior. The gym is very large with lots of good well maintained treadmills/equipment, but the pool is small and is more of a lap pool. Not really great for families/kids.”

• Upscale, beautiful lobby, nice room+comfy beds and convenient.
• Had to pay $36/day for parking. Can't find a microwave in this hotel.

“This is an upscale hotel, its good for business. If you travel with kids and needed to have microwave, this is not the place for you. In my case, the front desk people sent me to Seven & Eleven store across the street to have my food heated up. And $36/day for parking.”

• I loved that they had Lemon and Lime infused water in lobby in the afternoon for check in, and apples in the morning for check out.
• Internet was an extra fee.

• Very good location and nice ambiance.
• Waiting an hour to get our car the morning after. Calling five times for a roll away bed - nine hour wait.

“Usually we have had great admiration for Marriott hotels, but the service stunk at this hotel. Check in took over 30 minutes and we were the only ones in line. We asked for a roll away bed at check in and then when we came back late in the evening at 11:00 p.m. it wasn't there, so we had to call five times to get it. Finally a security man got it for us.”

• Flexibility and appropriate room assignment.
• No wireless internet in my room. Expensive parking.

“I really enjoyed staying in Center City (downtown). It was very convenient in regards to location! The staff was very freindly, responsive, and courteous! The hotel is in two buildings, one main building and a historic building- with high ceilings and lovely architecture. They are connected by a skywalk and the historic part is connected to the Reading market, the Gallery (shopping), and even the train station without having to go out in the weather.”
