• Excellent location. Close to everything. Very secure.
• The valet parking was expensive.

“A nice hotel in an excellent location. Room was on the small side but very comfortable and very quiet. This hotel is in the middle of everything you'd want to visit in Philadelphia. Very secure. Keycard access required for door entry at night and for elevator access (and room access) at all times. The valet parking was expensive. The plus of valet parking is that you can go in and out as often as you wish, whereas in city lots this is not allowed, so you might end up paying more for city parking than the valet if you need to use your car during your stay. Budget for parking when staying in downtown Philly. The city is very walk able with ample public transportation.”

• Historic building lovingly decorated in absolute center of town.
• Windows did not open; pool under renovation.

“Beautifully decorated 2.5 stars hotel with many 4 star touches, such as double sheeted duvet. Incredible value, very central location. Comfortable beds, incredible view. Awesome lobby. Great architectural details. Huge room and bath. Should put trash can in toilet/shower room in addition to sink area. Our windows were fixed shut at the 15th floor, possibly a fire hazard.”

• Front desk was fast and efficient.
• One of the beds was not clean.

“The valet service was fast and efficient. Upon realizing that one of the beds was not clean, our valet parking was comped. The uncleanliness was not a typical thing found it this hotel. I have stayed there before to always be very pleased with the service.”

• The business center did not have free internet access, limited number of elevators, small rooms.

“This hotel is great if you are only staying one or two nights in Philadelphia. It's location provides easy access to public transportation, site seeing, and restaurants. The rooms are small, and the limited elevator access was very inconvenient. For travelers needing internet access, the business center provides it for a ridiculously high cost with a minimum of $5. At the price for this hotel I expect free internet access in the business center.”

• The staff was wonderful and the facilities more than adequate.
• Nothing.

“We were traveling due to medical treatment and with small children (the patient was a 5 year old) it was fantastic to have this centrally located, excellent hotel and on short notice. We would have had more than an hour's drive early in the morning with a child who does not do well without food/water and does not do well in cars. This stay made the whole surgery much easier.”

• Beautiful old building, not fancy but very comfortable and modern.
• Nothing bad to say.

“It's right next to the old Masonic temple, very close to the higher price Marriott, which was good for catching a free shuttle back to the airport. Nothing to complain about at this Marriott Courtyard. Nice, safe & very reasonable in a good location.”

• Courtesy and helpfulness of staff, including valet parkers.
• Difficulty in finding the "second restaurant" ( which was closed!).

“Top grade quality comfortable, centrally located ( for my purposes) to business center. Only problem coming in was easy accessibility due to proximity with another Marriott right next to it. I would definitely go there again.”

“Generally clean rooms, not the best decor but excellent location. Hallway had a strange curry smell mixed with perfume. If you want free internet remember to bring an Ethernet cable.”

• The accommodation. The room was clean and very pretty. The view was excellent.

• Room was barely big enough to hold the 2 beds.

“Wonderful location, beautiful hotel, clean. When checking in, the desk person gave me a snide remark about getting only 1 room for my family of 4. Turns out she probably was right - the room was barely large enough to hold the 2 Queen beds. It was very cramped with the 4 of us.”

• Access was close to historic district, great staff and very concerned, since I needed a wheel chair. They made sure all was ok with me.
• There was not anything that we didn't like. We actually wanted to stay 2 more nights, but couldn't.

“The Marriott Courtyard Downtown Philadelphia is convenient to all of Philadelphia's downtown attractions including the zoo, Franklin Institute, museums, and sports complex. The Subway is located less than one block away. The rooms are small, but comfortable and offer beautiful views of the city skyline. Valet parking is first rate and necessary. Hotel staff was very friendly, especially given Philadelphia's reputation. Breakfast buffet was excellent, if a little expensive ($50 for 4 people). The quality and variety of food was worth the expense. Hotel pool is a little small, but very clean with nice view of the city. The pool is located right next to an excellent workout facility. I would rate this hotel as 8.5 out of 10.”

“We traveled to Philly to see a concert and stayed at this hotel because it was close and cheap. Checking in and out was a breeze and the staff were very courteous. The room was nice and clean and had a good view. The only bad thing was when we went to breakfast at the restaurant we were charged $30. All we had between my wife and myself was 2 cups of coffee, a glass of orange juice, a banana, and a bowl of cereal. That should have been at the most $10. That was very dissatisfying. Other than that we had a pleasant stay at the hotel and would stay there again.”

• Large room, clean, great bed, excellent at price, room service, work station well supplied.
• Weak shower. Front staff impersonal, only a problem if you need concierge help. No convenience shop.

“At the price room was excellent. We had a King Suite with a large living room and door that closed into the bedroom. Our 21 year old daughter slept on the pull out couch and there was still plenty of room to move around. The room had lots of amenities including mini-fridge, microwave, coffee-maker all in a little bar area in the living room that had its own sink. The tone of the l/r was rich business modern, with large flat screen TV, and smaller one in bedroom -- which was lighter colored. Everything was spotless. Bathroom clean but not impressive and shower was our one complaint. Room service food was excellent -- never found the restaurant, large hotel and we were busy during trip. Front desk staff not up for giving much advice, but the service staff was great. No problem. All very neat and clean and impersonal. Perfect for a business trip or a visit that doesn't depend on romantic room or lovely views. Good location, convenient to everything.”

• I wish the hotel could arrange for a discount on nearby parking facility. Other hotels in Philadelphia do this.

“This hotel was great. Very convenient to the sites. Close enough to walk or if tired a quick bus ride home. The staff was very courteous, friendly and full of helpful information. Our room was very clean and tidy. I have already recommended this hotel to friends.”

• Overcharged, wrong room 1st night, hairdryer broken.

“1st night gave us wrong room, small beds, had to tip bellboy for bags, cot, replacement of broken hairdryer, extra blanket, etc, had to tip valet even though valet tip is included in nightly rate. They charged me for hotel restaurant even though we never ate there. I truly got tipped out from this experience.”

• We enjoyed the fact that the hotel had an indoor swimming pool, in fact, it was a criteria in selecting the hotel.
• Walls in room not appealing, no decorations, bathroom was not very clean, condiments in room not adequate.

“When taking a general look at the hotel room, everything appears perfect, but when paying attention to detail (ex: cleanliness in bathroom) everything becomes a whole lot less appealing. Still, we had a great stay and enjoyed ourselves a lot.”

• Except for one caveat, nicer than expected for a 2.5 star.
• The energizer bunny of a high-pitched squeal.

“The courtyard Philadelphia is a lovely 100-year-old building with a surprisingly modern feel inside. There was a high-pitched nuisance of a noise from the outer wall that urged me to keep the TV on as much as possible while in the room. Turning the A/C (and fan) off had no effect on the noise. Mercifully, it subsided by bedtime. If it wasn't for the noise, I would've rated this hotel a solid 3 star.”
