• The restaurant was excellent especially their eggs benedict, great hollandaise sauce.
• Mistakenly placed me in room that may have been a smoking room.

• Close to everything I needed to see.
• No WIFI in the rooms. Everything in the halls and room smells like cigarettes (claimed it was not a facility).

• We held a Conference and the staff involved was super helpful.

“The hotel is conveniently located in the "Avenue of the Arts". Metro is close by lots of restaurants, Chinatown, Museums within walking distance. The hotel is superbly kept and has a nice decor.”

• The staff was very nice and the room was kept clean!
• The fact we had to pay for the internet.

“I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. We felt welcomed each time we came in and out of the hotel. After I made my reservations I called and made sure that everything went through and they had booked me a Smoking room. If I not have called, like most people, that would have not been ok with me being a non-smoker! Other wise I believe the hotel I stayed at are very nice!”

• The location, friendly staff, comfortable bed.
• We found a dirty diaper and candy wrapper under the bed, we could not get wireless in the room- had to go to another business room or the lobby.

• Was forced to take a smoking room.

“Excellent location, good gym, overpriced breakfast buffet, was given a room on the lowest floor (6) which is the smoking floor. I don't smoke and asked for another room, but they claimed they didn't have any. Anyway, the entire floor reeked of cigarette smoke, awful for a non-smoker.”

• First room was smoking--had to ask to change. Stunk!

“This hotel is in the theater district and not far from historical areas and museums. If you get a view overlooking Broad Street--you have the old City Hall to look at every night and it is beautifully lit. Staff was efficient and friendly. The pool and gym were small, clean, and enjoyable. The first room had a yellow ceiling and stunk. In fact, the whole floor stunk as soon as you exited the elevator. Desk staff was friendly and changed us to a non-smoking room that more than met expectations. The bedding is very comfortable.”

“Great location, food in restaurant is moderate, ok for business travelers, elevators can be heard running distinctly from inside of some rooms, night and day. Front desk staff gave me some difficulty in checking in. I had to wait for my "husband" in order to check in even though room was totally paid for. We were only given a queen size bed, but we really needed a king. We would not stay again at this hotel. There are too many other fine ones in the area.”

“I requested a king size bed and I got a queen. They did not reserve what I wanted they gave my room to someone else. I was stuck in a small queen size bed which made it uncomfortable for us.”

“I've stayed here a couple of times once in summer and again in winter. Good price for hotel. Rooms nice. Within very easy walking distance of trendy shopping street. I would stay there again.”

• The location is great & the staff was very friendly. Nice pool and hot tub too.
• The toe Nail clippings on the bathroom floor from previous guest & the thick dust in the bathroom vent.

“Great location in center city and a friendly staff. Bathroom could have been cleaner but didn't affect the overall experience. They do need to clean the vents though!”

• With a packed city, the staff went the extra mile to find us a non-smoking room.
• At first, they put us in a smoking room that reeked and could not move us - until our 9-year old son broke out in tears.

“This is an up-scale city-style hotel, with what you would expect for services. The prices of additional services (internet, local phone), however, are not included and expensive. Overall, if I want to stay right in the middle of things, then this is likely one of the better places to stay.”

• I could see a very dirty filter in the ac/heat vent in the room.

“Nice hotel in a good location. I wonder if ac/heat vents are ever cleaned. I could look directly into the room unit, and see very dirty filters. Since my son has allergies, I was worried about the air quality in the room.”

• Internet should be free in the room if it is free in the lobby.

“We had a room with a king sized bed. The room was clean and nicely appointed. The staff went out of their way to be helpful in a variety of ways. Internet was free in the lobby but was $10 per day in the room. Parking was pricey - $20 per night. There is cheaper parking nearby if you don't mind the walk.”

• Comfortable beds and room lay-out.
• The front-desk attendants' dishonesty regarding the room booking and the availability of other rooms.

“Early check-in was denied. I have never had a problem with this as non-smoking is part of my preferred profile; this was also an exception in that I had not called the hotel directly to confirm non-smoking. I had to encourage the search for a few alternatives as the 1st 3 suggested were right by elevators: ended up with a prime room on 20th floor (there are 26 total). Ironic that there were so many available rooms after she had insisted that they were completely booked solid, & that I'd have to accept the smoking-room! Once settled in, the room, daily maid-service and moderate noise level (doors slamming/loud conversations) were highly appreciated. Great location as it is near the prime shopping streets (Walnut & Chestnut); I had a great view as well looking straight down Broad street towards City Hall (gorgeous historic building.”

• Incredible location. In the middle of downtown near bars/restaurants.
• Nothing bad to say.

Just cant say enough how centrally located and convenient this location was. Close to Patco and Septa lines. I love center city! Went to football game, jumped on the subway and I was off. Excellent place to stay for eagles games.”

“Stayed here for three nights for a family wedding. Rest of family stayed two blocks away for twice the price. The bed was exquisitely comfortable. The subway station is directly underneath. Very convenient for getting around.”

“The warm chocolate chip cookies were a nice touch. The Neutrogena bath products were great. The room size was very nice for 2 people. Not much of a view from the room, but was fine. Staff was friendly and our luggage was stored while we waited for our evening flight. Good location if going to the Kimmel Center or around City Hall. Enjoyed staying here and would definitely stay there again.”

“Easily one of the greatest places I've ever stayed. Everything in the city from places to eat, to theaters; to tourist spots were largely within walking distance of the hotel. The staff was very helpful, and the room was excellent.”

• The bed was very comfortable!
• The bathroom space was a bit awkward; the door actually hit the shower rod.

“This hotel was in a great location, and was very cozy. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was very clean. The biggest negative was the setup of the bathroom. When you open the door to the bathroom, the door would hit the shower rod. If you shower with the door open, it blocks most of the light and gets quite dark. I would, however, stay there again!”

• Will anybody invent a quiet icemaker?

“Hotel was excellent. Facilities up to date, and exceptionally clean. Concierge was very friendly. When food was delivered to my room, the waiter stayed to be sure everything was as desired. Room service staff called a few minutes after, usually catching me with my mouth full, to see how my dinner was. Had reserved a double smoking room for me and I was easily able to switch to a single non-smoking. My room was very comfortable with a 2 level desk with movable lower level making a nice table, couch, wing chair and swivel chair as well as the usual TV armoire and bed. Bathroom was spotless. Bed was comfortable with a readily available synthetic pillow for those of us who are allergic to down. Everything I asked for I received in a timely and friendly manner. I was very happy with this hotel and the price I paid.”

“I was so surprised at how nice this hotel was and how great the location was! My only advice is to remember that if you want two double beds instead of a king or a non-smoking room, you have to call the hotel ahead of time. When I arrived, the lady at the check-in counter told me that I had a smoking room and that unfortunately, there were no other rooms available in the hotel or she would switch me to a non-smoking room. The smoking floor smelled like cigarettes, but the room didn't smell too bad at all. The bathroom was nice. The beds were so comfy. The hotel was great! And, hello, they give you a big freshly-baked chocolate chip cookie when you check in! It was delicious.”

• The staff could not be more helpful and polite.
• The one drawback is that the bathroom could have been updated.

“Overall, this was a great hotel. Located right in the Theater District in the center of Philadelphia. The staff was very helpful and always polite from the front desk personnel to the wait staff to the bell hops. The room had a great view. It had a nice pool and Jacuzzi that stayed open until 11:00 p.m. Also, a great room with weights and treadmills and elliptical machines.”

• I got what I expected. Something that does not always happen when staying in a city for the first time.
• Lots of homeless folks near by.

“From the beginning when I checked in I was just immediately given a room with no questions. Upon getting to my room was surprised that it was a smoking room. So I called the concierge to have my room changed and once I got to the front desk the attendant told me I shouldn't have been allowed to have my room changed. They did eventually give me a room but it was beside the elevators, the one for handicapped persons, which was pretty inconvenient because of the noise coming from the elevator throughout the night.”

• Room was nice, beds were very comfortable, front desk staff helpful (though not terribly friendly).
• Staying there on a weekend wasn't great - it was pretty deserted since it was really in the business district. Also the garage was not great.

“The lobby seemed to constantly be crowded with people, the elevators were extremely slow and crowded, and the garage had signs all over about not leaving valuables in the car since it was not well-lit and not terribly clean. I didn't feel very comfortable in the garage. That part of Philadelphia was also fairly gritty, several buildings were getting cleaned up but the sidewalks were crumbling and there was trash in the streets nearly everywhere. Overall, the best part of the trip was the room itself and 2 or 3 of the touristy things we did. I don't think I'll be coming back soon.”

• No hair dryer or refrigerator; expensive parking.

“The Doubletree is an excellent hotel. The room and staff were great. I enjoyed the fitness center. We are used to staying in places with hair dryers and refrigerators. The location requires a long walk or inconvenient bus to the historical district.”

• The beds are the most comfortable I've ever experienced in a hotel.
• Common area was dark and unremarkable.

“The hotel was comfortable, clean and friendly. The lobby needs an update but the fresh baked cookies we received on registration helped us overlook it. The beds (Pillow top) were the most comfortable we had ever slept on.”

• There beds were the most comfortable. I have ever stayed at, in a hotel before.
• We were on a smoking floor, which gave it a bit of an unpleasant odor in the hallways only.

“Overall from the beginning (being handed a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie at check-in) to the end on the stay (oversleeping in the beds they have) it was a great.”
