“We checked in at around 2:30am and the Staff was very friendly. You don't really expect people to be "on their game" at that hour. The room was great, but everything seemed even better because of your staff. Valet attendants to housekeeping; everyone we passed said hello. That's what makes a great hotel exceptional.”

• Good location. Nice decor.

“We really enjoyed our stay. The location was close enough to the historic stuff to walk (not a short walk, but fine). The decor was nice, and the front desk was helpful. We didn't like the $33 per night parking charge, and opted to park at a public garage where we paid $10 for the whole weekend instead. The room was fairly clean – dusty lights, and smelled like it had been cleaned with a sour rag, but no real issues.”

“Not at all a 3.5 star hotel. One of the smallest rooms I've ever stayed in. Had to switch rooms do to hvac malfunction. Tiniest bathroom I've seen. Property is an old Holiday Inn that has barely been renovated.”

• The location and the staff.
• The property and rooms are extrememly run down.

“This is a great location and the staff is great. the internet was perfection and that was about all that was really good. The entire property is extremely run down and in a very bad need of a complete remodel. The room I was in had to be the worst in the hotel.The carpet old and worn as well as the drapes and even the wall paper was peeling at the seems as it was simply old. It was actually somewhat depressing to be in the room.”

• Great location, great room, great experience!
• $33. per day parking (should be free to guests).

“Everything was great
- no complaints except that we had to pay for parking ($33. a day). I feel this should be free to hotel guests. Other than that it totally met our expectations.”

• Within walking distance of the Philadelphia Convention Center and easy access from 30th St. Station.
• Not terribly luxurious.

“This hotel provides the very basic necessities. It near to Philadelphia attractions and lovely streets to walk on, but it's direct surrounds are not tourist-attractions, and don't supply a lot of amenities such as great dining, etc. But those things are just a few blocks away. It was a bit noisy, after all.”

• The hotel was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable.
• I didn't like the pillows, It had air in it and felt like sleeping on a balloon.

• Liked the location and the staff.
• The bartender served my wine in a dirty glass, when I told him he just poured the wine into another glass.

“I loved the hotel. Parking was too expensive. The bartender at elephant and Castles needs to be taught how to work properly. If you serve someone a dirty glass you should toss the drink and start over with a clean glass and a new drink. I was disgusted when he did that. Other than that I would definitely recomend this hotel.”

• Shower head great, quite rooms, well appointed room.
• They did not follow their own green towel policy.

“The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms have plenty of space, the bathrooms are very clean. The hotel is very close to everything in the downtown area, so walking is great. The food is reasonably priced (for a big downtown city environment), and the beer on tap selection is great.”

• The hotel had a luxurious feel with staff that was very kind and accomodating.
• The ice machine on our floor did not work (small problem) and the parking situation wasn't the most ideal.

“The hotel had a very luxusious feel. I was greeted very kindly by the man who was working at the front desk. The beds were very comforatable and were accompanied by a cute bag of sleep aids (eye mask, lavender pillow spray, and ear plugs). The cleaning staff was also very friendly. Overall we had a wonderful experience! The only thing that I would recommend is being aware of is the parking situation.”

• Clean, comfortable, and very relaxing hotel which is exactly what I was looking for during my stay.
• The only negative aspect for me was that I had to take an elevator. The room was on the 18th floor.

“I enjoyed this hotel because of the clean and comfortable rooms. The staff delivered when I requested a quiet room. The location to many good restaurants and shops is ideal. Overall, my stay at this hotel was very positive.”

• Location was excellent. The sleep mask and relaxation CD and aroma therapy were a nice touch.
• Lobby area was a little rundown and restaurant was closed.

“You couldn't ask for a better location in Philly - one of the most walk able cities in the US. You are wedged between the museums and the shopping, 20 minute walk to the historic sites. If you take the SEPTA, it is one block from train to hotel.”

• A little far from the Historic District.

“The Crowne Plaza is a pretty good place to stay in Philadelphia. It is a bit of a walk from Independence Park, but it is also close to Ritten House Square with many good places to eat nearby. It certainly appears to be aimed more at the business client, but was still fine as a tourist. The main downside is that the bathroom is very small.”

“My husband was in Hospital of the University of PA for a procedure. I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Center City. I did not like the fact that the hotel does not have a restaurant. They do offer a breakfast prepared by its caterers for about $10 and they do have room service. It is conveniently located to public transportation and near Rittenhouse Square.”

“Great location, only a few blocks from the Reading Terminal Market, Rittenhouse Square, City Hall, Penn Station. The room was large, with 2 double beds, a desk and a lounge chair. The bathroom was a little old-looking, but very clean, and the shower had an adjustable shower massage-type head. There were complimentary earplugs and an eye mask. While the restaurant was closed for renovations, there was a coffee shop on site. Highly recommended.”

• Upgraded our room on our engagement night for free and no additional charge!
• Elevators. They were slow and stupid.

“Very nice downstairs and entryway when we walked in. We were also happy that the staff upgraded our room on our engagement night to a more secluded area. We were not happy with the elevator service as this was a 20+ story hotel with only 4 elevators at the time. The restaurant had a great atmosphere as an English pub / fancy place to get old school drinks (You would fit right in with a highball, a fancy wine, or a nice dry martini). Great location helped. Parking was very overpriced, even for downtown! Still, a wonderful nights stay for a romantic get away!”

• Bed bugs! Management and desk staff was rude.

“My wife and I wanted to treat ourselves to an upscale hotel on our recent trip to Philadelphia. What we treated ourselves to was bed bugs. When we got home we had found that our young son had bites all over his back and then we found several bed bugs. We had to re-launder all of our clothing from the trip, we had to have an exterminator come to our home, we had to dispose of furniture and buy covers for our mattresses. Still, the Crowne Plaza management refuses to acknowledge that they had bed bugs.”

“Great hotel! Housekeeping comes by to see if there is anything you need. Hotel front desk flows up guest request with a call. Room is set up for total restful comfortable sleeping (eye masks, linen spray, LED nightlights).”

• The bed was super comfortable. Hotel in great location.
• The carpets in the hallway were stained and old. Wallpaper in bathroom peeling up.

“This is what I expected. The building and lobby is quite nice. The location can't be beat- short walk to all the nightlife in Philly and just a few blocks from downtown attractions. The bed was really comfortable and room very clean and had good amenities. The carpets in the hallway were disgusting- stained, old, torn. There were a few spots in the bathroom where the wallpaper was peeling up. If they cleaned up the place it could really be an upscale hotel.”

• The bathrooms were absolutely tiny and not suitable for star rating.

“The hotel was ok but really in need of a facelift. The elevators were under repair but that still should not have required what became a 15 minute wait for an elevator to get from the 8th to the ground floor. Overall it was ok but I really expected better.”
