• Safe comfortable room.
• No indoor heated pool.

“Good for one night stay as we did. Rooms were comfortable although the bathroom was uncomfortably small! Parking was high, $34.00 dollars a night.”

• The hotel needs to be redone. Looked dirty, old.

“I would not go back to this hotel unless the price was really cheap and I could specify a non-smoking room. The room was dirty. The wall and ceiling around the vents were black. The bathroom was ridiculously small despite the fact that the room was a good size and they could have expanded the bathroom because the sink was outside the bathroom. We were placed in a smoking room because it was the only room left but the smell was ridiculous and the room needed a thorough cleaning or needed to be gutted. I've had to stay in a smoking room before but clearly this room has never been vented or shampooed.”

“Overall, the hotel was worth the price. It was convenient, friendly, and very clean. It was not luxurious, but overall very nice. the parking was not well marked (at all) and it was very expensive with no alternatives. overall, a 7.5 out of 10.”

• The size of the room and the bed was soft and uncomfortable.

“I would this hotel because of it's general location and the fact that they are in the process of renovations. Therefore, in a year or so it will probably be much better. I liked the concierge staff the most, each one was friendlier than the next. A couple of the front desk staff, well, need an attitude adjustment. I realize why I got the price I did on the hotel because the hotel is under construction/renovations. I would have gladly paid a little more for better accommodations. It should be stated somewhere when a hotel is under construction/renovations.”

• Bathroom sinks no hot water - fixed sink did not drain.

“Hotel is in an awesome location. We walked everywhere. The hotel arranged for the trolley tour to pick us up and bring us to the Trolley first stop. When we arrived we turned on the hot water in the bathroom sink and no water came out. We called the front desk and they sent someone right away and it was fixed. The bathroom sink did not drain well. There was some construction going on. We did not see it but we heard it. Not on the weekend but after 8:00 am on Monday. Not a big deal since we were not staying in our room all day.”

• It was centrally located with easy access to tourist attractions.
• It is under renovation. Parking fee for guests is outrageous.

“The hotel was pretty much what I expected however, the charge for guest parking was ridiculous. $31 a night! It was the most expensive of all the parking garages in the area and area hotels. The hotel was nice enough to provide a baby crib, but it was more like a baby jail and lacked the comfort that the king sized bed had. I liked the little things that made our stay nice like the relaxation CD, lush bathrobe and towels.”

“The lobby area is a bit cramped, and you can tell the hotel is a bit older. When we were there the elevators were under renovation and were not working correctly or promptly (and we were on the 21st floor). But it is a short walking distance to nice restaurants, and a longer but manageable walk to famous Philly tourist attractions. Parking in the city is expensive, but the hotel worked out a small discount for guests.”

• I liked that they had free access to the internet and check-out time was 12 p.m.
• The bathroom was very small.

• Location- central to city, Concierge, bell man and front desk very helpful and friendly. Liked the Meditation CD that was provided-relaxing.
• Only one elevator was running- Mgmt was very clear about this and posted signs in room, at check in. I didn't experience any delay at all in service.

“Crowne plaza Philly, a convenient location, does everything right - clean, quiet, comfortable, nicely appointed rooms, good service, and decent pub/restaurant on premises. My only complaints were very minor: garage was a bit dingy, heating system slightly drafty, view from the room was not so great, and shower nozzle was a cheapie.”

“I read your other reviews and have no idea where the negative comments came from. This hotel has been recently renovated (the elevators are still being upgraded), and is beautifully done. The bedding is super comfortable, the bathroom, though small, was spotless. The staff was very helpful. We had a wonderful stay.”

• Front desk staff was more than helpful in finding foam pillows, a bathrobe and allowing a really late check out.
• Housekeeping staff took hours to find foam pillows.

“I was greeted warmly by hotel staff. The room was spacious with comfortable furniture, the bathroom was smallish. Centrally located, my only complaint is the high cost of parking, $31/night.”

• I selected a king room and was placed in a queen room one third the size of a standard room.

“I visited a standard double room a friend was staying in the weekend I visited the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia center city hotel. I was surprised how nice that room was in comparison to the room I was assigned. Upon check-in the young lady at the front desk advised me I was assigned a queen room. When I mentioned that I had selected a king room when I made my reservation the young lady explained the hotel was booked due to a convention and football game and that they were expecting VIPs. Also upon check-in the young lady had trouble with the parking ticket I was provided by their valet. She asked that I return to the garage and obtain the appropriate guest ticket. When I returned to the garage I was turned away with the explanation that they were too busy to issue me a different ticket. Upon check-out the garage attendants were much more helpful assisting me to obtain the appropriate hotel guest rate for parking. The queen room I was assigned was a third of the standard size due to the fact that it was tucked behind an elevator bay. Not an ideal location and not a four star room. When I woke up on Saturday morning to perform my workout I found there was not a service manual in my room that listed the location of their gym. I went to the front desk to ask about their gyms location and request a service manual. The young lady at the front desk explained that there were no extra copies of service manuals. Arriving back to the hotel early Sunday morning I discovered that my electronic key had been deactivated. This required not one but two trips back to the front desk to successfully reactivate. Because of their VIP guests there seemed to be only one elevator bay that was operational with a guard posted. This was not a good travel experience.”

• The location was great.
• The service and room was extremely poor. Very disappointed overall.

“The location was very good, but the people at the hotel were terribly rude and unhelpful. My room was awful. And the most unattractive room I have ever stayed in. It was worse than any two star hotels that I have stayed in. The hallways were dirty in appearance, and the only nice person I crossed paths with there was the valet that returned my car. The worse hotel experience overall.”

• On a noisy street.

“It's impersonal but clean and comfortable. The hotel is on a busy noisy street that is devoted to office buildings and it pretty much rolls up the sidewalks at night. But the side street leads to an area with shopping and restaurants so the Location is acceptable and central for work and play.”

• My room had bugs in it. Also, the area was unsafe at night.

“The hotel was overpriced. My room had bugs in it and it was noisy at night. I felt unsafe in the area at night. Room service food was of poor quality and overpriced. Overall, I felt I paid at least twice as much as the hotel was worth. I was very disappointed and would not recommend staying there to anyone. I would not stay there again.”

• Carpet in room was very stained, and bathroom smelled of mildew.

“This hotel, located in a seedy part of downtown Philadelphia, was not a good value for the money. Check in is at 4:00pm, with no early check in options. The room was not in great shape, with carpet heavily stained, giving it a seedy appearance. I suggest going up or down in price to get good value.”

• The hotel parking was $31 but you could park in the same garage for $20 as a non hotel guest!

“This was an older, more dilapidated property, although the room itself was clean. Bathroom was aging badly. We had to wait forever for elevators. The location was fantastic easy access to tons of shops and restaurants.”

• The proximity to my event, which I attended, and sight seeing.
• Did not receive wake up call. Gratuity policies fro room service. It was automatically, included then another line indicated an additional tip.

“Overall, the staff was personal and professional. The front desk extended their mission to correct the problem, when problems arose.”

• The lobby and common areas are excellent.
• They had the highest parking rates in the city.

“Nice, clean hotel. No wireless. No in-room refrigerator. Highest parking rate in the city. Cannot walk to your car once it is parked. You have to have the valet bring it to you and re-park even if you just want to place something in the car or get something out. This process takes a minimum of 5-10 minutes.”

• Every employee that I came in contact with was very outgoing and professional.
• The elevators seemed like a ride at an amusement park - very bumpy with lots of drops.

“Walking in the surrounding area made me a little uneasy at night. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were great. The bathroom was very tiny and you basically had to step into the tub or on top of the toilet to close the door.”

• The location was perfect, right in the center of town.
• The customer service was not good.

“I asked a woman at the front desk directions to a concert hall and she sent me to a completely different location from where I needed to be. I had traveled to Philadelphia from D.C. specifically to attend the event and ended up being late and spending a lot of money on the cab ride (because I was directed to walk a few blocks away when it was really a twenty minute drive). A group of women I met at the Crown Plaza that attended the concert had received the same directions and were inconvenienced as well (as they had traveled from New York for the show). When I informed another woman at the front desk of what had happened, she simply apologized, which was fine, but it would have been nice if she had offered me a discount for the next time I stayed at their hotel (or some type of compensation for the inconvenience they had caused). The room itself was fine, it fit my needs exactly and the location was absolutely perfect.”

“My husband and I are business owners and took the weekend off to get some rest and relaxation. That did not happen at this hotel. The walls are extremely thin and we heard our neighbors up all night laughing and talking as if we were all in the room together. Then when we finally did get to sleep, the construction noise woke us up at 8 o'clock in the morning! The bathroom is so small it seems like a practical joke.”

• Great location. Walking distance to shops, museums and parks.
• Parking was pricey. $31 a day.

“Wonderful hotel. Front desk staff was very friendly. Gave us a map of the city and directions to walk to the Franklin Institute. He also recommended a great restaurant a block away called Cosmopolitan.”

• The room was very comfortable with all the info at your fingertips to make for a pleasant experience.
• The elevators seemed slow in arriving and the ice machine on floor 12 needed to be repaired or replaced.

“The hotel deserves its 3 Star rating. My experience was pleasant, the location was perfect for me, & I would recommend the hotel for any traveler.”

• $32 per day for parking! Way too expensive!

• The bathroom was not particularly clean and it was quite small.

“The Crowne Plaza Philadelphia-Center City is a nice location. I felt pretty safe walking back to the hotel at night. However, the bathroom was dingy and the room had a strange odor in it. I did not think it was 3-star upscale caliber.”
