• The bed was super comfortable. Hotel in great location.
• The carpets in the hallway were stained and old. Wallpaper in bathroom peeling up.

“This is what I expected. The building and lobby is quite nice. The location can't be beat- short walk to all the nightlife in Philly and just a few blocks from downtown attractions. The bed was really comfortable and room very clean and had good amenities. The carpets in the hallway were disgusting- stained, old, torn. There were a few spots in the bathroom where the wallpaper was peeling up. If they cleaned up the place it could really be an upscale hotel.”

• Lobby is stark. Elevator didn't work well. Closet door in room didn't work well.

“Central location, with respectable rooms. Lobby devoid of charm and restaurant was of common coffee shop variety. It is, however, in walking distance to a lot of fun restaurants. Better for business traveler. Parking is expensive.”

• I enjoyed the comfort of the beds and friendliness of the staff.
• I did not like how you had to use your room key to use the elevator.

• Met my needs of a centrally located city hotel.
• The bathrooms were absolutely tiny and not suitable for star rating.

“The hotel was ok but really in need of a facelift. The elevators were under repair but that still should not have required what became a 15 minute wait for an elevator to get from the 8th to the ground floor. Overall it was ok but I really expected better.”

“Clean, comfortable hotel. Pool was nice. Room was large. Bathroom was cramped, but the sink was separate. It was outside of the shower room, which is convenient if more than one person is staying in the room.”

“The overall experience was good with a few issues. The beds were comfortable, room was clean and location was great. Halls were noisy at night. We also had a door handle fall off and the bathroom light blew out.”

“I would recommend this hotel. We choose to walk to independence hall rather than drive, figuring that it would be easier than parking downtown. The staff was friendly and helpful.”

• The staff was by far & away the best asset of the hotel; they could not have been friendlier or more helpful.

“The location of the hotel was amazing--right on Market Street within walking distance to virtually anywhere you would want to go in Philadelphia. The room was great, but bathroom a little small actually. The elevators were under repair so only working at half speed. Parking was expensive. Overall, I was very happy with my stay here.”

• Friendly staff, comfortable room. Free high speed internet made our stay easy and enjoyable.
• Unnecessarily small bathroom - split in two with basin outside bathroom making inside smaller than it needs to be.

“Great for money - spacious room and all the amenities were good or better for what you'd expect at 3 star level. Had dinner and drinks at the bar (Elephant & Castle) one night - lively atmosphere and affordable prices. Food was ok but the fries were lukewarm on one of our meals. Easy access to Old Town - we walked (about 30 minutes) or got taxis ($7 or $8) but there were heaps of buses too. Considering the price difference between downtown versus Old Town/Penn's Landing, we'll stay in downtown any time, and would be happy to end up in the Crowne Plaza again.”

“The Crown Plaza in center city Philadelphia offers something for guests of all ages. Located in the heart of Philly, you are only blocks in each direction from attractions such as Historic Independence Hall, JFK Plaza, Rittenhouse Square, the Pennsylvania Convention Center, and the Philadelphia Art Museum. Rooms are clean an spacious for a downtown hotel. The outdoor pool is sizeable and well maintained.”

• Direct vicinity deserted on nights and weekends, only 3 restaurants open at night.

“Don't let the exterior fool you. The rooms, lobby are new and clean. They go the extra mile to make sure you have a good night's sleep and make sure you have friendly service. The only problem we had was the phone didn't work, but I'm confident they would have resolved the issue if we asked.”

• Water leak in the bathroom from the floor above.

“Staff is very helpful and nice. Our room is clean and comfortable. However, the elevator is super slow and it would take 5-10 minutes from 19th floor to the lobby. Make sure you check out early because the elevator is usually full and it will stop at every floor during the hotel checkout time everyday.”

“I was disappointed by this hotel as out of 4 elevators, not a single one stopped on the floor where we stayed. They never sent anyone up because they saw (on the panel) that the elevator stopped on our floor however, they failed to notice the elevators would stop to go up, but not to go down. Only after we yelled at them did they send someone up to get us. We got down by riding the elevator up to get down. First day we wasted 35 mins waiting for the elevator and the second day 15 mins. We were not about to walk down 12 flights of stairs.”

“They accidentally charged me $600 for parking - the maids were obnoxious and loud - they woke me up and wouldnt shut up - the elevator was broken, I took it to go down, and it kept going up and down on its own, not stopping for 5 minutes, I was scarred - finally I pushed the open button on the floor - the elevator shouldnt have been in service.”

• Nothing. I didnt stay long enough due to safety issues.
• The staff refused to credit my account after the incident mentioned above. I left at 5:30 am due to a stranger in my room.

• The attention to details - sleep CD, eye mask, linen spray.
• Valet was only choice of parking and it was $33.

“The front desk person was very friendly and accommodating. The room was appointed with thoughtful amenities such as a CD player alarm clock and a sleep CD, a sleep gift bag with an eye mask and linen spray. The hotel was located only blocks from City Hall and other attractions. The hotel bar was a full service restaurant and local watering hole. We were there on a Saturday night and there was a DJ spinning a great mix of music.”

• Smaller rooms/bathrooms, but not too bad.

“The hotel was what we expected. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are very small, but it wasn't a big deal. We were put on the 25th (top) floor and although you could here people talking in the hallway on occasion, people were fairly quiet out there, and we didn't hear much often. This certainly isn't a 4-star hotel, but is fine enough as a 3-star hotel.”

• The fitness center was spacious and filled with modern devices.
• Problem with being charged for an extra night of parking when we did not park.

“The best feature of the Crowne Plaza - Philadelphia City Center is right in the name - it's in the heart of Philly, just a couple blocks from City Hall and minutes from great eateries, shopping and other city sights and spots. The front desk folks were very thoughtful and quick to accommodate any needs we had, and the housekeeping staff was very sweet too. The spacious room had very comfortable beds as well as a reading chair and a large desk, as well as high-speed Internet access.”

“Room was clean, comfortable and good size. The bathroom is a little on the small size, but more importantly, it was spotless. The king bed was nice, no problems with sleeping and the hotel was quiet on this evening. The only thing the could have been better was the TV. Just an old, standard 19 inch set. It's time for the Crowne Plaza to upgrade. I will say the channel selection was good, about 45 choices. I did not get to the fitness center as it sits on the 8th floor, and we did not use any of the eateries downstairs.”

“The hotel staff is very good, absolutely polite and knowledgeable about the city. The hotel is walking distance from 30th Street Station and Suburban Station and from the City Hall Station for the SEPTA Subways. The rooms are clean and well appointed and the bar had a great selection of spirits.”

“Overall this was a very descent hotel. Clean, friendly service and great location. We were just staying for the night, so it was perfect for what we were looking for. Small bathroom, but luckily the sink was separate from the shower and toilet. No complaints, a pleasant stay.”

• The staff was pleasant and accommodating.
• Parking was $33.00 a night. That is very expensive!

“The hotel was great. I was upset that we were given a small room with only 1 bed when I typed in 2 adults and 2 children on my request. I'm not upset with the hotel, they switched my room the second day as soon as a bigger room became available. We spent the whole night trying not to fall off the edge of the bed or roll over onto our children. My neck is still stiff!”
