  • Lobby was clean and attractive.
  • Ran out of coffee in lobby early, ran out of hot apple cider.

“The first night we had a room by the pool and hated it because of the pool smell and there was no outside window.The second night we moved up to another floor. It was very nice. I wish we never saw the first room because it was not pleasant.”

  • The only thing I liked was the comfort of the bed after I replaced the linen and bedspread with my own.

  • Beds are very comfortable, staff
    is friendly.
  • Parking is not free. Either $10 or $15 depending if you pay through the hotel or not.

“We were given rooms with a view of a huge concrete block! Rooms are OK but not luxurious. Beds are great. Restaurant menu seemed expensive.”

  • Very comfortable bed and quiet. Bathroom was very modern and up to date.
  • Slow and old elevators; not enough wait staff on duty in the restaurant and bar.

“Good location, helpful and friendly staff, comfortable room and bed, updated bathroom. The hotel is obviously old but nicely updated. The convenience of the location makes up for the inconvenience of slow elevators and understaffed restaurant and bar. The hotel needs to do a better job anticipating demand at its eateries for big weekends.”

  • Very clean indoor pool area.
  • Area is not too safe at night.

“Good location for us since we went to a concert just a few blocks away. Would be good for business considering it's downtown location. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Room was kind of small but clean. Perhaps because we had a smoking room. Not sure what non smoking rooms would be like.”

  • The hotel guests were loud and obnoxious and noisy staff did not make them stay quiet.

“The clientele at this hotel was primarily African-Americans who seemed to have no sense that proper etiquette is that you are quiet in the halls and do not slam the doors and yell in the hallways. Hotel staff made one phone call and did very little else. They have lost my business as this has happened in the past.”

  • Room decor, proximity to Riverfront Walk, chocolate chip cookie upon arrival.
  • Day 1, we reported "stopped-up toilet" and same problem occurred day 2&3. When we checked out, still a problem.

“We were totally disappointed with this particular hotel. At check in, staff was slow and took 2 phone reservations while we waited. Throughout our stay, desk staff was not very cordial or helpful. After reporting plumbing problem 3 days in a row, still had to use lobby restroom day of departure. We will definitely not return!”

  • Nice room, good location.
  • I didn't like the room I was given.

“It was a nice, clean, comfortable room, but it was a handicapped room on the first floor across from conference rooms. In stead of a window I had a sliding glass door right next to the indoor pool. Since the pool was in almost constant use I had to keep my drapes closed. I felt like I was in a cave.”

“I visited this hotel just for some peace and quiet and I really enjoyed myself for the two days that I spent. The hotel was very clean and the staff was extremely helpful!”

  • Soap was good. Water pressure was good.

“This is a 1.5 to 2 star hotel posing as a 3 star. It is old and worn out. Housekeeping was poor and spotty. Sometimes you would get new towels or washcloths. Sometimes you had to go to the desk to request them. The Kleenex dispenser was empty in my room for three days. The toilet paper was not replenished when there was only 1/8 of a roll left. The parking was an extra $12 dollars per day. There were no other parking options except to park on the street in a scary neighborhood. The front desk staff was indifferent and a little snooty. This hotel is located in an area that you would not feel comfortable walking around in after dark. There were two separate false fire alarms that woke us up at 2:30 am. When I asked the staff about them there was no apology offered. Overall rotten experience. Would only recommend this hotel to someone against whom I had a grudge.”

  • The breakfast buffet was good and priced right.
  • The parking situation at this hotel was ridiculous. $12.00 per day in a three star hotel. Come on!

“The hotel was adequate at best. The rooms were recently renovated it appeared, but the rest of the hotel was showing its age. The elevators were in desperate need of upgrading and no permits, inspections or limits were posted inside. The secondary elevator to the parking garage barely fit a person and one suitcase.”

  • The desk staff especially Yvette was so nice and helpful.
  • The neighborhood was a little scary after dark.

“I was treated like a valued guest at this hotel. Yvette at the front desk helped me with check in to change to a non smoking room and check in early. She took time with me to suggest a place to eat and give me directions. In the morning she helped me find a church to go to. More hotels should have clerks like this. The room was beautiful and the bed was like a cloud. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are in Wilmington or Philadelphia.”

  • Accommodated my concerns regarding lack of hot water and offered complimentary meal.
  • No hot water for our entire stay, we were not told when we registered, we received apologies but I had to ask for it to be accommodated.

  • Had to pay extra for parking.

“Nice hotel. I chose the wrong time to be at the hotel due to the functions involving children. They were noisy. One child knocked on my door and ran. Other customers must have complained because security was called. Their parents were down stairs and wasn't aware of their childrens' behavior. Next time I think I will try the other doubletree in Wilmington.”

  • Drab, noisy and in the middle of a combat zone with limited food and facilities.

“This unpleasant business alternative to sleeping on the streets is conveniently located next to court buildings, but I recommend that you avoid this downtown Wilmington location unless absolutely necessary.”

  • I liked the cleanliness of the room and the hotel and It was very attractive.
  • I did not like the fact that I was double charged for my stay accidentally and my breakfast was delayed due to a mistake of a staff member.

  • Great Neutrogena products, superior towels, comfy & many pillows, down like comforter.
  • Elevators, one out of service and other was very slow.

“Excellent for young couple or business traveler. Good for family if you are just looking for a very clean, affordable upscale hotel. Not a lot going on around hotel, neighborhood somewhat sketchy, but within two blocks of some great coffee and bagel shops, and restaurants. We loved it and would stay there again.”

  • Who ever cleans the rooms left a dirty washcloth over the shower. It was a turnoff. They did not clean the bathroom at all. It was not enough wash clothes.

  • The two guys at the check in were great guides, friendly.
  • Windows do not open and fan is too loud.

“Although the staff was very helpful in telling us about the town etc, the hotel room did not have windows that open, making us claustrophobic, as well as a fan that was so loud we couldn't sleep. We were caught between noise or no air. Less than I would expect from a 3 star hotel. The room was decorated nice enough, the bath products great.”

  • Horrible location, not safe for walking even in daytime, $9 day for parking not mentioned in offer.

“Very friendly staff most of the time; good room service food and delivery; excellent room, very nice and comfy, some screaming kids running down hall, but that is not the hotel's fault; you have to have a car or take a cab, the area is horrible even in the daytime; my daughters were verbally insulted just driving to the hotel area; good theatre and restaurants near, but do not walk; even driving after dark is dangerous unless you know right where you are.”

“This was on my top ten list of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. It was drafty and dirty. The hallway was poorly lighted. The key card would not work in the door unless you giggled the handle. Very dissatisfied. I will never bid for Brand wine area in Wilmington Delaware again.”

  • The only positive is that it promises 5M in renovations soon.
  • This hotel was a Wyndham and has steadily deteriorated over the years.

“This is a typical former mid-upscale chain hotel that has become private. The hotel has steadily become a worn and tired hotel. From towels to carpet it needs a major renovation.”

  • The staff tried to correct the many difficulties we encountered.
  • The hotel is very disorganized and things are just not well thought out.

“It was a nice property, with a convenient location. The room was clean, but was missing linen for the sleeper sofa. When we asked for some, they responded quickly, but with no blankets. Parking was very difficult, and they actually shut off the elevators to the parking garage on weekends, not that they would bother telling you that or posting a sign. Staff tried to fix these things, but they need to get organized.”

  • The room was nice. For downtown Wilmington very good.
  • Elevators were dirty, smelled of smoke and were musty. People at desk were not the best.

“In general the hotel was not a bad experience. It is located in downtown Wilmington, which is not the best place to stay as a woman on business by yourself. Parking was very expensive for DE. Room was nicely decorated, but a little run down. Hotel needs a good cleaning in general areas, and staff should not act like it is a burden to deal with someone calling in. Need to ask if someone has to have non-smoking. Other than that not a bad experience.”

“I was extremely disappointed in the hotel. The 1st room we were in had wet carpet and we had to move to the room next door. The towels in the room were also dirty. They offered us no compensation for the horrible 1st night in the hotel. The hallway carpets were stained, the wallpaper was peeling off of the wall, and there was mold in the shower. This was nowhere near a 3* hotel.”

  • The room was neat and clean.
  • My spouse suffers from back pain, and the bed did not help. Also the one time I needed lotion,none available in the room ,but it had 4 bars of soap,

“ In my opinion,the regular hotel room rate exceeds the value. There was nothing special about the hotel or the room. The lobby was quite simple (with a bowl of artificial fruit) and the room was neat and clean, which was expected.”

  • Desk Manager and staff was nice but facility was below par.
  • Far less than a three star hotel! Parking an additional fee.

“This hotel was NOT as advertised! It is definetely NOT a three star hotel. It has not been updated, hotel room had stained carpet, molding and wallpaper coming off wall, bathroom tile and grout needed replacement. No table with chair, big empty space in room. Not inviting or restful space. Restaurant closed on Saturday morning for a private party, no breakfast option. ”
