• The continental breakfast was very good.
• Our room had ANTS!!!!

“The hotel was for an overnight get away for my husband and me since we had a mother with open heart surgery that we had been taken care of for many weeks. We needed a getaway night, thought it would be fun, however we found ANTS on the desk, on the heater/ac and then on my purse and then on the bed in the morning. I was very upset about this. We did not have any food or sweets with us and my husband said he had seen a couple on the night we arrived. But in the daylight the next morning, we saw many more. We just wanted to check out of there.”

“The hotel is located right off the highway but in back of a Borders bookstore so the location was a bit odd. I was visiting the University of Delaware and the hotel is about 6 miles from the college that is in downtown Newark. I found this to be annoying. Other than that the location wasn't that great, the hotel itself was very nice. The room was beautifully decorated but unfortunately the room did not have windows that opened. I had asked for a non-smoking room but they could not accommodate me. This would not have been a big problem if I could have opened a window to air out the room. I could not and the room reeked of a stale smoke smell that was very unpleasant.”

“We had to move our room because the Internet connection didn't work (even with the boost antenna). The new room was on the third floor which has enclosed corridors. Only problem was - lots and lots of tiny ants! They said they would take care of them while we were out, and there did seem to be fewer when we returned.”

“Due to the poor Internet connection (even with hotel-provider antenna booster) we were moved to the third floor interior corridor section. The Internet connection, while better, constantly cut in and out making it very difficult to get any work done. This room also had lots of tiny little ants. They were supposed to do something about the ants while we were out. I don't k now if they did but there were fewer of them when we returned.”

• Most of the rooms are accessed from outside - if I'd been on the first floor, I would have worried.

• Convenient to a decent eating establishment.
• Did not give me my second wake up call and therefore was late to work since the traps are drawn in most hotel rooms. not to mention the quantity.

“I do no think that this hotel, for $52, is rated anywhere close to that of the courtyard by Marriott that you have put me in before that is located at the university of Delaware. I strong wish not to be associated with Fairfield hotel if I submit a price for $52. is there anyway that is possible to do ??a disgruntled patron.”

• The front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful.
• Housekeeping knocked on our door around 8am. We were still asleep.

“I work at a elementary school & I wanted just to get away before school started. Our room was right in front of the pool. The view was great & just cozy enough to make a wonderful weekend getaway! I really enjoyed all the friendly & helpful staff at the hotel. I would highly recommend that hotel.”

• Noise at night caused by a large and loud returning group.

“Check-in was easy and we were given the double non-smoking room that we requested. We also enjoyed the fresh chocolate chip cookies. The room was nice, had comfortable beds, and a decent selection of cable TV channels. We used the pool and enjoyed breakfast the following morning. We would definitely stop here again, even though we there was one disturbance in the middle of the night when a loud group returned to their rooms.”

• this stay I happen to have accommodations below the 3rd floor workout, exercise room. I was awakened by the noise associated with a treadmill...

When we travel and are staying in the area, with the cost of gas as it is, we always plan an over-night stay and we are rarely disappointed. “The convenience, the cleanliness, the price can only be out shadowed by the staff. This truly was a pleasant experience. Not the biggest room I have stayed in, but certainly the best experience. Continental breakfast was very good. I was NEVER treated as a "discount" guest. First rate treatment all the way. Highly recommend, even if your budget is not a consideration. Very clean.”

• When we arrived at the hotel there was an unopened can of beer left there by the previous people.

“Overall the hotel was nice. There were outside entrances to the rooms which I was not thrilled about, but you need a hotel key to use the elevator or stairwell to get to the second floor, where we were. The staff was friendly. There was high speed Internet in all of the rooms and a computer in the lobby for all to use. The free continental breakfast was great!”

• Staff and amenities overcome minor irritations a good place to stay.
• Access is rather convoluted due to road patterns, poor ergonomics.

“Fairfield meets its promise of being an inexpensive hotel that bears the standards of the Marriott name, but the design itself is a little off. The template used for the rooms puts the desk too close to the bed and the door, creates cramped passage through the room, but leaves a huge space next to the vanity. This property is unusually hard to access because of poor road design surrounding it is not the hotel's fault, but still bothersome. The free wireless requires reauthorization daily, even though it indicates itself as a 3 day account, and requires a new pass code each time somewhat inconvenient when you need this for work. However, it was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful and it was quite a bargain for the price.”

“After numerous stays at this hotel, this is my first time eating at the newly completed renovated hotel lobby and breakfast nook. The newly extra amentias available in addition to the vending machine areas are a great idea. The open free flowing design with the microwave, ice machine and refrigeration area, along with the hot beverages and fresh fruit available at all times is a positive addition. Really check out the reviews on this hotel or location and as you will see this continues to live up to higher and good standards.”

• because of the renovations the one ice machine available cannot keep up with demand

“I have stayed at this location about 10 times prior to and during the hotel renovation. The new rooms are simply gorgeous! From the paint, interior decorations, furniture and up scaled bathroom and lighting and 25 inch television. My husband and I look forward to spending a getaway weekend there as most of the staff recognize us. Looking forward to the final stage in which they are enlarging the breakfast nook and front lobby, we had the queen size room and it was out of a 4+ hotel with the Egyptian cotton linens and 6 bed pillows. I am so glad to be able to afford such luxury for a bargain price.”
