• It was In a close proximity of the town and eating places.
• The rooms were not up to my expectations and the over all motel had a rather odd smell.

“I was not too Impressed with the motel at large. The location for me was rather hard to get to then when we began to hunt or ask for directions at the motel for a place to eat the directions wasn't too clear.”

• Too expensive. No way to set AC by yourself. Fire alarm fires at midnight!

“Very bad experience, no AC for two nights. Finally they turned on the AC at the second night midnight after two complains; the AC keeps blowing extremely cold air even though I changed the temperature to 90 degree. No breakfast but they charge for $70! At midnight, the fire alarm fires up twice without any explanations!”

• Good location, pool clean, one of the staff very nice.
• Rooms and public areas old and ran down.

“Not a 3 star hotel by any means. Old, and worn down, could be nice if some painting and new carpeting put in. Pool area pretty clean and a little play area for kids. Restaurant dark and a little dingy. Musty smell in room. Little disappointing for a Best Western hotel; this a second individually owned Best Western that has disappointed me.”

• Location close to family, fridge in room, breakfast, nice lobby.
• Hard beds, worn out linens, no chair for reading, needs updating, proximity to Rte 422/accident waiting to happen.

“We have been familiar with Dutch Colony since it was built. Very nice family operation in early years, but motel now needs major updating. No longer a Best Western motel. We returned to reading for a funeral and chose it because it was close to our family. We needed a non smoking room with two beds on first floor because of a recent injury and clerk on duty that night couldn't find anything although there were many vacant rooms. Our daughter was put in a room that had a terrible dog odor. Night manager was very accommodating and moved her to another room immediately.”

• The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly.
• The room was old and outdated and the mattress was very old as well.

“The hotel was in a great location on a main road with many fast food restaurants and gas stations nearby, so it was convenient. The hotel was clean but the rooms were really outdated and the mattresses were old and flattened out when you laid on them. However, I managed to get a decent night of sleep.”

• The rooms were clean. The dining facility was well prepared and quaint.
• The beds were not excellent; the rooms not recently redone.

“If you are not looking for glitter this hotel is a friendly adequate space. Though it is not a new facility it is in decent repair and presents a welcome face for relaxation- take the kids. The dining room bustles with appreciative guests.”

“The place had not been updated since it was built in the 50's, still had the same mattress (my back still hurts). There was no pressure in the shower and the cable TV was so fuzzy it gave me a headache. ”

“This was a very old roadside hotel that should have been named "hotel." the attached restaurant should have been named "eat. This wasn't nearly a 3 star hotel. Old room. No amenities. It was horrible!”

• Very nice staff. Breakfast voucher for free and decent food.
• This was advertised as a 3 star hotel, but it was a two star. Moldy smell in the bathroom.

“Our room was very comfortable and the staff very accommodating. Definitely a family oriented hotel. The free breakfast was a hot served meal, much better than the continental buffet usually offered! We will be back.”

• Liked the restaurant.
• Outside appearance not becoming, outside entrances.

“Driving up was surprised at roof condition. Only outside entrances. Room was average, refrigerator didn't work, air noisy. No indoor pool or in-room jacuzzi. Staff was helpful. Restaurant was very good. Convenient to attractions.”

“I felt unsafe, the room was dirty, the heating system unreliable, the shower and bathroom disgusting. Great water pressure however! Entire hotel needs a makeover.”

• The room was comfortable. The mattress was good.
• Outside entrance, No elevator to second floor. Parking was not good.

We stopped for a drink at the bar and were warmly welcomed by the bartender, Jeff, and friendly patrons. The pool was set to the perfect temperature. We truly enjoyed our stay and will return.”

“The staff was courteous, polite, professional and friendly. The lighting of the exterior hotel was very romantic and quaint. The location is off a main road but the hotel was quiet.”

• From the family orientated section I was impressed by the swings, pool and play area for children.
• The fact that you cannot control the hear/air temperature control.

“Let me say that I have come to the conclusion that I prefer not to pick or stay at Best Western independently owned hotels. They each act independently and the quality of service and accommodations vary greatly. The first thing I encountered at the hotel check in is the fact that the clerk informed me of the "Good cheap rate I paid and therefore any food I obtained from their restaurant would have to be paid for out of pocket. No use of the phone for outside calls was permitted, only in coming calls permitted. It was Memorial Day and people at the pool were out of towels and the clerk informed them that No towels would be available until housekeeping arrived in the AM. (it was 4pm, then. The bed was on the soft side, the TV was a 19 inch on a pedestal stand and looked rather small compared to the largeness of the room. The wash basin was outside of the toilet/shower area and so you were out in the open when in the wash basin/counter area. It was a neat, adequate place to stay and for the $50.00 I paid it was OK, however I would prefer different accommodations next time I visit the area.”

• Locating the hotel coming from 444e/176s was problematic as it took me downtown and had to navigate my way out.

• Receptionist went out of his way to assign me to a first floor room. No regular ones were left at 2am and I walk with a cane.
• Noisy heater, had to shut it off to sleep. Shower head partly clogged so it constantly swiveled to wall.

“It was fine. I don't spend much time in the room so I don't need much. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I could get the Science fiction channel.”

• Were willing to accommodate my wishes.
• Staff was rude and unhelpful generally, things about room were broken.

“Were not helpful on the phone, but are more likely to accommodate requests in person. When I first arrived, the heater, TV, and internet were not working. Boyfriend fixed the heater and TV, but internet was spotty and often dropped connection. Hot water ran out Thanksgiving morning. Room service did not accommodate our request for an extra pillow, now were they apologetic about it. Got a smoking room that smelled as if it had NEVER been deodorized ever. I probably won't go back.”

• One King bed rather than 2 doubles. No continental breakfast.
