• The public spaces were excellent for the price.

• The desk staff was very friendly and accommodating.
• The shower/bath had some black growth (?) In the grout that was not attractive.

• The hotel had a comfortable feel with excellent pool facilities.
• Did not give me the correct room and room received was a little inconvenient.

• The staff was friendly even though the accommodations were not up to par.
• The accommodations were below average.

“The overall appearance of the hotel itself was nice. Our room had two double beds, fairly standard. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. The air conditioner in the room did not work properly. The bathroom had not been properly cleaned from the previous guest.”

• Hotel had two pools (indoor and outdoor) and was close to interstate.
• Rooms were a little dated and small.

• The hotel staffs are friendly and the rooms are clean. We did not have any problem extending our stay for another day.
• The elevators need to be cleaned and its not well ventilated.

“The staff was very slow and obviously new. They were overbooked and sent us to another hotel that was 10 miles away, and not the quality we had booked. Not a good experience.”

• Mouse was in our room, even ran across my feet.

“I was not impressed. We were greeted by an overwhelmed worker who did not have the room available that we paid for in advance. He put us in a room with 2 double beds. We were on our honeymoon and wanted a king. We also had reserved smoking, we got non-smoking. The room did not look like the advertised pictures. It was not a 3 star rating. I asked for a discount at least to make up for the disappointments. The hotel said they could not do that.”

• Incredible staff, impeccable facilities, very comfortable and clean room.
• No included continental breakfast in the am.

“This hotel is definitely worth the little extra you pay to stay there. The staff is incredible and goes out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. I stayed there with my 1 year old niece and mom and felt very comfortable and safe, which is somewhat questionable in some Norfolk area hotels.”

• Friendly counter staff.
• Very noisy, no pm manager on duty.

“We will never stay in this hotel again. Our last two experiences have been kids running and talking loud in the hallways until 1:00am. Shuttle took 45 minutes to arrive when it is only 15 minutes away. We had to call the shuttle service 3 times to get someone to show up. ”

• Spacious rooms.
• Usual holiday inn stuff. Overpriced drinks, noisy heaters and shower temperature between cold and too warm.

“Hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is difficult to access from i-64 & i-264. There did not appear to be a large selection of restaurants in the area. But, for the price, it was a nice affordable stay.”

• Old, lumpy beds and pillows. Mildew in the shower.

“As expected, this was by no means what I would consider a 3 star hotel. The gym equipment was about 10 years old (way too old for gym equipment). The pillows and beds needed an updating (I could actually feel lumps in the pillows). The shower had mildew in the grout. I am very upset that this is what I was given when I requested a 3 star hotel!”

• It was definitely still in the 1980's which isn't terrible or anything.

• The gym, pool, and sauna were nice amenities.
• Mold in the bathroom!

“This is a nice hotel overall. The rooms are decent, and the beds are comfortable. The bathtub/shower had mold around it, which I found unacceptable. Overall a good location and value, but it would be nice if they re-caulked to make the room appear nicer.”

• I liked the indoor health spa.
• The room did not have a microwave or refrigerator.

“The hotel lobby is very nice and attractive; however, the rooms were no different from a room at Motel 6 or Super 8. I was extremely inconvenienced by the fact that all the rooms I stayed in did not have a microwave or refrigerator. Also, the cable channels were pretty limited. On the good side, you can bring your pet, but you have to stay in a smoking room which can be kind of bad if you are a non-smoker. The health spa was a nice addition and it stayed open from 6am to 11pm.”

• The hotel staff was very unfriendly. The rooms were more like cheap motel rooms than what I would normally expect from holiday inn.

“I have stayed at many holiday inns before and usually I am very satisfied, but this hotel was a huge disappointment. The staff was rude and inattentive. The hotel had a foul odor in general and the rooms looked like they came out of a cheap motel. Avoid this hotel.”

• The indoor pool.
• The smoke smell.

“It was an ok hotel, but they make it look/sound nicer than it really was. But the rooms were good sized and we really liked the pool/spa. It was also nice that it was very close to the freeway.”

• The beds were great, and the atmosphere comfortable!
• The restaurant was disappointing, and the staff not exceptionally helpful.

“Overall, a good deal. The rooms were comfortable and spacious, though the views were disappointing. The layout of the hotel was nice, the pool and spa were a nice addition. This would be a great location for a convention or banquet.”

• Location, room was comfortable, clean and quiet.
• Restaurant was expensive and not great.

“Hotel was in a good central location. Close to airport and other areas of interest. Rooms comfortable and clean. Pool looked nice but did not get a chance to use it. Staff was very helpful. Restaurant was expensive but other places to eat around hotel. Restaurant was independently operated. Would stay there again.”

“They never gave my new towels or linens for the bed, nor did they dump my trash, this stay was by far my worst stay @ this particular location....they're getting slack around there all of a sudden....I would not like to be placed there ever again unless Management makes some big changes...”

• Nice lobby, pools and sauna available, price.
• broken elevator, broken ice machine, dirty common carpets.

“This is a convention center, and structurally it looks like one. Despite the grandeur of the lobby, it would have made a better impression if one of the elevators weren't broken, the ice machine on our floor weren't broken and the lamp in our room had a plug (!). The carpet in the one working elevator was seriously dirty, the tub surround had moldy spots. This lack of attention to housekeeping prevented this hotel from feeling like a special place. Otherwise, it was comfortable and well outfitted, and in a central location between Virginia Beach and Norfolk.”

• What I like most about this hotel is the helpfulness of the management and staff. Another plus is the rooms , they are nice and large.
• The one cup coffee maker.

“This hotel is a wonderful place to stay for whatever your need may be business or pleasure. The hotel manager is very helpful and pleasant as well as all the staff. Try it you will like it!”

• Great indoor/outdoor pool and sauna. Great outdoor dive-in movie idea.
• The air conditioning in the room was loud. And no mini-ref. to store water or leftovers from dining out.

“The hotel was in a great location from the interstate. Close to the mall and the Virginia Beach. With Denny's in walking distance for a great breakfast. Staff was helpful and the hotel restaurant providing ice for coolers for a day at the beach was great. Look forward to another stay at this hotel and trip to Virginia Beach. Raleigh, North Carolina.”

• Close to the beach.
• Didn't clean room. pool dirty. Too many pets, didn't clean up after the dogs.

“Our room was never fully cleaned, never ran sweeper, no clean cups the entire stay. The pool was dirty, placed in room next to someone who had a barking dog. One time when they were leaving and my children were in the hall the dog went after them. Someone else let their dog do their business in the front lawn, and no one cleaned it up the entire stay. I had to leave early with my family due to these conditions. Not a pleasant stay.”

• I was able to check in without problems.
• It was very dirty, moldy, stained, unclean.

“This hotel was not worthy of a 2.5 star let alone a 3. The hotel bathroom was dirty, moldy, and unclean. The sheets were stained, carpets dirty, and the room was dark and dirty. Please downgrade this hotel. It is the 2nd time I have gotten the hotel and the cleanliness has not improved.”
