• The rooms were clean and the view was terrific.
• Only 1 bank of elevators, made a long walk to room. It was my first experience with a 5 star hotel and it will be my last one.

“For people who have more money than brains it was OK I guess. I would have been happier in a hotel that offered a continental breakfast and had a fridge and a microwave. There was an ice machine on my floor but it was empty, called the desk, didn't help.”

• Good beds.
• Not as clean as I would want. Coffee service varies each time I stay there.

“On my last visit, (the third in two weeks) the hotel lobby was full of cups and garbage. The coffee pot had someone's old filter and the coffee service was not new in plastic but was left over. The bathroom shelves had weeks worth of dust. The staff is very nice and accommodating.”

• It was nice having a balcony.
• The service was really bad. We did not get maid service. Room service was overpriced. Hard to communicate with staff.

“This seemed like a nice hotel if you were traveling for business. It was not a family friendly hotel. We had to pay for parking, there was no breakfast provided and the restaurant was overpriced. We did not get maid service the second day we were there. The valet staff was very helpful I wish I could say the same for the lobby staff and maid services. It was not a good experience for travelers with children.”

• Parking garage 2 blocks away, no elevator.

“Only parking is garage $12/day or valet $22/day. Had to carry luggage down 2 sets of stairs (no elevator), through a bank lobby then a block through the rain to get to hotel.”

• It was a high quality hotel very close to my business destination.
• Internet access was for a fee. I'm used to this being a free amenity.

“The hotel has been undergoing a major renovation, I was told by the desk clerk. I didn't notice that any work was underway. Everything was new, clean and nice. It was exactly what I would expect of a hotel of this calibre in a downtown environment.”

• Beds and linen.
• The rooms were small. No continental breakfast. The pool was outside and there was no Jacuzzi. No room service after 11pm. No sound proofing.

“I was impressed about the front desk person. He was professional and friendly. Check in was a breeze. We had lunch which was pretty good and not too expensive. The coffee was excellent. The room was really small but we did have a water view. No continental breakfast. I was disappointed that there was no Jacuzzi and the pool was outside. The work-out area was pretty small too. In addition, I had to pay for parking which may be standard? However, having to walk 3 blocks to get to my car and pay the 12 bucks per night was a big negative. It was really cold out. And my companion has a hard time walking. Would I stay here again? No.

• The beds were very comfortable and each room had a flat screen TV.
• No complimentary breakfast, newspaper and internet in rooms was $10 a night.

“The hotel rooms were very clean and relatively modern with big comfortable beds. The river view was beautiful. Location was relatively central.”

“I arrived in the middle of the night and was greeted by the friendliest most helpful staff imaginable at 1 am. I had a horrible toothache and was terribly hungry after a long flight. I was accurately directed on where to go to take care of both of my needs in the shortest amount of time.”

• Clean and orderly - staff was kind, helpfully and knowledgeable.
• Had to pay for parking - no continental breakfast.

“My stay was great. Everything was neat, clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The only thing that got me was the floor they put me on was a floor of college kids because the dorms weren't ready for them. So one night from 9-10:30 - the kids were bowling in the hall, and pizza boxes everywhere. I called security just to let them know things were loud and it stopped immediately. Thanks.”

• Parking was somewhat inconvenient.

“This Sheraton is on the scenic waterfront of Norfolk, Virginia. MacArthur Center Mall is close by and many fine restaurants. The room was very clean and comfortable. The restaurant serves excellent food. We drove a car there and parking was somewhat inconvenient, but that goes with city settings.”

• The staff when I checked in was very informative and friendly.
• The price of the restaurant was pricy. There was only valet parking at the hotel.

“The hotel was a great area and the waterfront was a nice view. The hotel eateries were a bit pricy and the parking at the hotel consisted of valet at $22.00 per day. The room was updated with flat screen television. Also the bed was so comfy. The quilt was so soft. Very nice room and location. I would stay there again.”

• There was no closet in the room.

“I enjoy staying at this hotel for the view, the location and the fact they are pet-friendly. They do not have wireless access, and sometimes the cables are too short. The last room they placed me in had no closet! At least place a rack in the bathroom if you are not going to provide a closet.”

• This hotel was nice on the eye, clean and updated. The beds were totally comfortable, so much I couldn't stay up and watch TV. Loved the LCD screen.
• I would have preferred a refrigerator and microwave.

“This hotel is clean, up to date (more so than others), computer stations in the lobby (the other one only had 1), location gave us a view of the bay. The only problem was that my hotel room didn't get cleaned because by the time they got to us it was late afternoon and we need to be in the room.”

• Nice Location, right at water front.
• Breakfast Buffet was somewhat simple.

“Overall a nice place to stay. The rooms are clean and appear to have been remodeled lately. Parking is possible in a parking garage about 200 yards from the hotel at $12 per night. There is dining opportunity right next door, and a nice walkway right at the water front outside the hotel. The only thing I did not like too much was the breakfast buffet, which in my opinion was rather simple for the price.”

“This hotel was nice, but room on city side was loud and difficult to sleep maid knocked on door at 7:50 am to early. Outside pool clean but small. Could hear everything from bathroom next door not pleasant. They refused to give copy of bill on check out have no idea if anything charged to room till I get card statement, they were unable to tell me of any charges at check out.”

• This hotel is close to the main highway and easy to access.
• The bathroom could have been a tad bigger!

“Aside from the antiquated elevators and small bathroom, the pool, lobby and restaurant are at a high standard. The staff was pleasant and efficient. Joe's Crab Shack is just out the back door a short walk on the romantic boardwalk.”

• Awful service; nickel and dime; poor parking arrangements, no breakfast.

“The hotel was overbooked by 15 rooms, which made for chaos at check-in. Bartender could not have been slower or more unfriendly. To get a whopping $1 off of self-parking, you have to validate your bill. Parking attendant will not honor just the bill. And you'd think they'd offer guests breakfast, but no. The whole experience was like being nibbled to death by ducks. Hassle after hassle after hassle. If you don't have an expense account, stay somewhere else.”

• Fees for parking and internet.

“The Sheraton Norfolk Waterside is a very nice hotel- the standard quality you'd expect from a Sheraton. Very nice lobby area and restaurant, friendly staff. The only disadvantage of the downtown location is there is a parking fee for daily valet or to park in the adjacent lot that is shared with office. The daily internet fee is also $10, and the connection was cable, not wireless, in the room. This hotel is very nice and fits for a business traveler, and the well-heeled traveler that is not on a tight budget.”

• Shuttle driver to local restaurant was very nice.
• No airport shuttle available. Expensive taxi and parking.

“We arrived late afternoon to a very busy hotel with very congested entry for cars, taxis, etc. parking for registration was impossible, and we went out to dinner and hotel shuttle driver was very friendly and helpful. The stay from then on was wonderful.”

“Beds are extremely comfortable, staff friendly but I disliked the fact that the coffee cups and coffee for the in-room coffee maker were not changed except for the first day and that room service was slow in getting coffee up to the room, which I had to pay for since there was no coffee in the room, should have provided complimentary.”

“The Sheraton Hotel Waterside was conveniently located and within walking distance of many attractions including the MacArthur Mall. The staff was extremely friendly and the rooms were above average for the price. The hotel is situated on the waterside giving you a wonderful view and feeling of a beach like setting. This hotel can meet all of your travel needs whether it is a romantic getaway, family fun or traveling on business. I would recommend the Sheraton Waterside Hotel to anyone traveling into the area.”

• Excellent location, lots to do, beautiful, staff very friendly. Recommend highly. Will go again.
• 20$ a day parking.

“My husband and I went there for a honeymoon. Beautiful room, felt very expensive. Great location to all we wanted to do and see. All the staff friendly, smiling, and always helpful. Food was fantastic and reasonably priced with other food places around. Highly recommend we plan to go again for an extended weekend stay.”
