  • The rooms were not as clean as expected and the hotel needed to make upgrades and renovations.

“I was disappointed in the condition of the hotel in general. The carpet needed to be changed, the furniture in the common areas were tattered and worn. Aside from the staff, the hotel was a disappointment. I would not recommend hotels.”

  • Continental breakfast was not available. Only breakfast was from a weak restaurant buffet.
  • Lack of continental breakfast. No free coffee in the morning.

“Nice for the money during the summer. Close to interstate. Lack of Continental breakfast was an issue for the price. No free coffee in the mornings. Other hotels provide more. Nice indoor and outdoor pool, safe, well lit parking lot, recently renovated. Overall a nice experience. If you want to tour around the Tidewater/Williamsburg Area this hotel may save you some money without sacrificing all amenities.”

  • In the restaurant the service was slow and the food sat-out too long and dried out on the evening buffet.

  • Great pool, nice conference facilities.
  • Overall cleanliness (outside of rooms) was not the greatest. Hotel badly needs overall room/communal space remodeling.

“Overall, we liked it because our kids liked the pool and communal spaces quite a bit. However, I think this needs to be a 2 star hotel, not a 2.5 star. Rooms were fine and clean, thankfully, but the hotel is about 10 years behind a common spaces and room overhaul. Ok location for convenience but can be noisy since it is near the interstate. Thanks.”

  • Free Parking. Spacious rooms and has all the amenities you would want and expect from a Holiday Inn.
  • I have nothing bad to say about this place. Favorite hotel in Hampton Roads.

“I love this Hotel. Definitely stay here if you plan to be in the Hampton Roads Area, you would not be disappointed. Has an indoor and outdoor pool. Free High speed internet for business travelers as well as a business center. Close to malls and the Hampton Coliseum.”

  • The overall layout of the property. Was told that my room was in building 3, but was not told that I building 2 would put me closer to my room.

“Overall rating would be a "7". My tub was a bit rusted around the mat area. I did see baby bugs in the bathroom which lead me to believe that there could be bigger bugs in the hotel. Fitted sheet did not fit the mattress. Bathroom tile on floor very slippery (wouldn't recommend for elderly people).”

  • It was filthy with large roaches crawling the walls.

“Every single area including the lobby and rooms were filthy. The pink lobby furniture was black with grease. All the carpets were worn and dirty. We tried 4 rooms and gave up. The first room had 2 inch long roaches. 2nd the shower was grey/black with dirt and stank like body order and stale cigarettes. 3rd had a broken bed with garbage under it. 4th was ok with no working phone. Coffee grounds in my coffee. Egg shells in my omelets.”

“The main building/ lobby looked good I never saw a room in that building. The room I was sent to was in a remote building. It was set up like a motel, a door to the parking lot and the big heater/air conditioning unit under the window. It was like you were sleeping in the parking lot. We were next to the interstate so I had road noise all night. The draw to the desk was missing. The beds were old. They put a new top in the bathroom but the mold and the dirt in the corners made the new items easy to be overlooked. I have had better rooms at the Red Roof Inn for much less.”

  • No handicapped facilities, was told by manager that they were not required to have handicapped facilities.

“I complained to the manager on duty about no handicapped access to the pool, spa, or sauna and was told that since they had an outdoor pool (which was closed for repairs), they were not required by law to have the indoor pool handicapped accessible. He told me this as I sat in my wheelchair next to a plate of food dumped over on the floor in the lobby. While in line to check in, 3 different parties cut in front of me, I can only assume that wheelchairs are invisible, and when I complained to the clerk, I was told that we cannot be responsible for other people's actions.”

“This hotel definitely shows its age in many areas but was clean and fairly well up kept. They definitely need to invest in new mattresses-ours sagged in the middle and made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. The pools were attractive and inviting. Although we didn't eat here, the restaurant was quite busy and looked nice. It was a little tricky to get out of the parking lot upon leaving. It wasn't my favorite place but it also wasn't nearly as bad as some reviews I've read.”

  • The room smelled like smoke, 1-2" of dust around perimeter of room, bathroom corners dirty, spots on carpet.

“Outside the hotel where the reg. desk was looked like a Holiday Inn, nice and clean but when you get to our room around the back area, 1st the door was dirty, the room smelled Smokey, a roll away bed was just thrown in the room and not set up (we had to move furniture around to fit the bed in), the entire room had 1-2" of dust around the whole perimeter and worst behind the furniture, corners of bathroom was disgusting too. This room was a big disappointment. Definitely not Holiday Inn quality I am used to. I spoke to the manager twice and I guest it went in one ear and came out the other since he assured me he would have the stuff I mentioned above taking care of and it wasn't. Oh well the beds were comfortable.”

  • Attracts a loud crowd. Poor maintenance. I have a list.

“I would not recommend this hotel. The staff will not turn away guests that cause trouble. Maintenance was poor, many details were lacking or broken. The crowd at the pool was so loud and scary that I did not dare take my 8-year old to the pool.”

  • Some non-registered guests were at the pool and very rough play was going on...

“We had a problem with rough play at the indoor pool. Considering there is a conference center connected, it is hard to keep people who are not guests of the hotel out of the area. However, I notified the front desk and they immediately called security. The problem was taken care of right away. The hotel is very nice and I would highly recommend it. We had a couple of very minor problems with our room which were taken care of immediately. It was very comfortable.”

  • It was close to the embassy suites where my family was staying.
  • It was not even close to a three star hotel. Ive traveled the world, and that was a 2.5 star tops.

“The hotel was not worth what I paid for it. The room was small, and the bathroom was okay on the cleanliness scale. This hotel is not even close to being a 3 star hotel. I gave it a 2.5 star rating and that was being extremely generous. The hotel staff was very cordial and willing to help. Be warned that there is no regular van service, and you have to set up transportation 24 hours in advance, and they may or may not have someone to take you to the airport. Also, the hotel doesn't have hypoallergenic pillows and bed spreads. I wouldn't recommend it for a stay longer than a day or two. I would also recommend that you book your reservations directly through the hotel, so that if you change your mind then you will get your money back. Good luck, fellow travelers.”

  • Best shower that my husband has had in a hotel, ever.
  • The mattress was a little bit too firm.

“The hotel is located near major attractions in Hampton, and is easily accessible from the highway. The staff was very friendly, even as we checked in during the wee hours of the morning. The room was larger than I had anticipated, and showed only minor wear. The bathroom was nicely decorated and stocked with bath and body works products. Breakfast was great (room service) as was the shower experience. We also had access to the executive lounge, which was well stocked with pastries and beverages. The only note would be that the hotel is comprised of several buildings, so I cannot assume that all are equally appointed. We would definitely stay there again.”

  • Room was weird, no outside windows; the window looked down on the breakfast area in the atrium.

“The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room cleans (though more than one times the disposable coffee filter/holder was left in the little coffee machine) and the bed was very comfortable. Some of the rooms (the one I was in being one of them) only have a window looking out on the bizarre atrium, where you have a view of the indoor pool (not a bad view) or the breakfast area (totally weird view) instead of a window looking outside. I like windows that look outside. I spent very little time in the room, so it did not bother me much, but it was a strange thing for a three-star hotel to have. Place was average.”
