• The staff at the front desk was very friendly.
• Maintenance of hotel very poor.

“Smoke-free hotel, room smelled like an ashtray. Bathroom toilet ran for twenty minutes after flushing it. Dirty towels hanging on back of bathroom door upon check-in. Bathroom ceiling leaking, called front desk, and waited 15 minutes then I finally went to housekeeping dept. (Which was next to my room) and requested towels to clean up the water. After 45 minutes call the front desk again and was told that the maintenance guy was not there yet. Informed front desk that we had plans and were suppose to leave the room in 15 minutes. Person stated, "I don't know what to tell you. There isn't anyone here that can fix it". Maintenance man came to room 15 minutes later and was there for over a half an hour. Luckily we were traveling with another couple so I took my shower in their room. How can a large hotel not have a maintenance person there 24 hour a day? Beds were very uncomfortable!”

“Would have been nice had the AC in most units at our end not gone down. They gave us free breakfast but not too sure I would go back. It was 100 plus 90% humid.”

• The room was large.
• There was a water leak in our and in the hallway outside.

“I definitely would not stay here again. The room was only semi-clean, the beds were very uncomfortable and the pillows were flat.”

• I liked that it was clean and close to where we were going.
• There wasn't really anything that I didn't like.

“I basically stayed just overnight. We stayed in and watched a movie and in the morning, my daughter used the fitness room and then we left shortly after that. It was clean and the bed was comfortable and the staff very friendly.”

• A little further away from the farmland than we wanted..

• The hotel was very comfortable and the staff was great.
• Was a little farther out than I wanted to be, but that was fine.

“I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff was great and very helpful! The breakfast buffet was nice and the wait staff was very friendly. As this is outside of Amish Country, they had many pamphlets regarding places to visit and things to do. Was a great experience.”

• Convenient location; reasonable price; and clean rooms.
• Hotel staff wasn't friendly. We asked for a crib and we never got one, though it was promised.

“Inexpensive, a bit outdated. We booked two rooms for the same price with our friends. Our friends got larger room with two double beds. Our room was almost half in size with just one double bed. Hotel staff refused to change the room stating that the online booking guarantees only room availability and not the particular kind of the room. It was a bit frustrating.”

• The Room Decor was nice and windows actually opened.
• Institutional appearance from the outside.

“Looks like they are starting to freshen the hotel, nice beds, bedding, room, but the bathroom needs a facelift. Not in the heart of Amish country, but accessible.”

“When we checked in, there was no mention of the hotel being no smoking. While the hotel looked to be pleasant I was not happy having to find another place to stay at that time of the day with no resources.”

• The on-site restaurant was very convenient. Also the computer room was very beneficial.
• No on-site laundry facility for guests to use.

• Very nice hotel room w/ huge King-Sized Bed.
• The room that I thought I'd ordered was not what I received at check-in the Hotel.

“The Hotel Mgr did make it right for us. She delivered a mini-fridge + set up the hide-a-bed (which did not fit in the king-bed room) at no additional charge while we were at dinner the 1st night. I later decided that it was easier to stay in the room for the 3 nights (instead of switching to a better room for the family on day 2) as we were not in the room at any other time except to sleep anyways. The breakfast buffet was ok (simple fruits, juices, muffins, donuts, hot eggs, bacon, potatoes, waffle maker station, and cereals). The hotel is located just off of U.S. Hwy 30 (expressway) approx. 10 minutes from Location which is a wonderful place for families w/ children under 7-years old.”

• The comforters and pillows were wonderful.
• No inside pool with a lounge.

“If is perfect for travelers or just an overnight stay, it was clean, staff was friendly and the front desk was very helpful with driving directions. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling.”

• Bathroom, especially the shower.

“The hotel is a little dated, but has had some upgrades in the rooms. Beds, pillows, and linens were comfortable. Room was clean. The bathroom needed updating and the shower in our room had no cold water. Would return again for just a quick overnight stay, but would choose another hotel for more than one night.”

• Convenient to tennis facilities, staff friendly, relatively inexpensive.
• Carpeting in hallway had odor for some reason, not in room though, room was fine.

“Fine for price and location to tennis facilities. Bar area was nice/comfortable/relaxing. Room was clean, a little on the older side. Friendly staff. No mini-bar refries. In room.”

• The bed was the most comfortable one my family slept in in a hotel. Gave us one of the best night's sleep we have had!
• When you enter the lobby, it smells like grease, i.e., from food. It is probably because there is a restaurant in there.

“We cannot say enough about how comfortable the beds were. We had one of our best ever good night's sleep! We woke up feeling absolutely rested. Too bad we did not peek under the sheets to see what kind of mattress they used!”

• The beds were really back to basic, springy and old.

“The rooms were really clean and newly updated. Nice location and decor. The mattresses were a bit out of date springy and old, but still somewhat comfortable. I would not hesitate to stay here again.”

• The rooms were clean and inviting.
• 1st night/room bed was to small and got no sleep.

“The hotel was very clean and staff was very curious. They helped get us an up-graded room and made us feel very welcomed. The maids did a wonderful job in cleaning the rooms. Would recommend this hotel to family and friends.”

“If you are in one of the renovated rooms, they are very nice , except for the rock hard pillows. The breakfast that everyone raves about is nothing but the same old prefab carp that's served in every breakfast bar, it comes complete with barely warm rubber powdered eggs. I went once in my 4 day stay.”

• Nice to have a restaurant in the hotel for quick food.
• Halls and carpeting were very stained. Hotel needs some updating.

“Very pleased at the quality of the room since it was a 2-star location. Had a great complimentary breakfast buffet. Only problem is that our room was located above the kitchen and the staff would sit outside and smoke and yell at each other.”

“For the price, it was clean and staff was friendly. I would only recommend this hotel if you were only needing a place to sleep a few hours before getting on the road. If you are on a tight budget this hotel will work but there is nothing luxurious about it.”

• The lobby and restaurant were very serene and very attractive.
• Hotel very spread out, access to rooms (esp carrying luggage) was not convenient.

“For being a 2-star hotel (which was all you offered in the Lancaster area), I was overall quite pleased. The rooms were nice, clean and we (3 women rooming alone) felt reasonably safe. The staff was very accommodating. The dining facilities and front lobby were extremely nice. One negative: we had to wait until the day of our arrival to confirm nonsmoking rooms. We finally got them; however, for over a month (I believe)they couldn't guarantee them. ”

• daytime front desk workers not customer oriented

“The Comfort Inn at Sherwood Knoll in Lancaster, PA is a comfortable place to stay while visiting Amish Country. It is reasonably close to area attractions and has very easy on and off access to PA 30. The staff is attentive and helpful for the most part and will meet most reasonable requests. I would stay at this hotel again and I would recommend it to other travellers.”

• The breakfast was really good, very fresh and had a nice variety of foods.
• Not as close to shopping as I would have liked.

“This is a nice hotel located a little on the edge of lancaster. If your looking for a nice fresh breakfast away from the heart of the city but not quite out in the country this is the place for you. Staff is friendly and helpful.”

• There was very little if anything negative except maybe the receptionist

“Lobby area looked to be clean. However the room smelled, very noisy, bed sheets did not stay on the bed, we just did not feel comfortable there and was not worth the money. Would not recommend this to anyone other than a truck driver needing a place to sleep for the night!”
