• Clean, friendly staff, good service staff happy to please customers.
• The bathroom needs a source of ventilation also the heat and air needs to be upgraded. The police had hotel completely block when we return one night.

• We had to go home!

“We enjoyed our stay. I especially liked the outside patio. Even though it was beside the indoor pool, it was quiet and restful. Everyone employed there were happy and ready to make our stay a most enjoyable stay! We are not constant travelers but the only thing that could have made our stay better, would be to make it free! Thank you all for a most enjoyable stay!”

“I picked this hotel because I knew it was 4-star even though you rated it a 3 and gave me a 3 star price. 89 bucks for this hotel is a steal especially when considering you had the Marriott a few blocks away rated higher and was 130+ dollars. This hotel blows that one away.”

• TV was turned so you couldn't see it from the couch.

• Wonderful room, staff friendly and helpful, a wonderful getaway for a valentine weekend.
• Coffee shop hours not posted, could have been open in evening, prices a little high at restaurant.

“It was very beautiful there. I enjoyed my stay a lot. My grandchildren, who live in Newport news, spent one of the nights with me, and we ate breakfast in the dining room and went swimming in the morning, and they enjoyed their stay very much also.”

• The kids had a lot of fun at the pool! I loved that the rooms had a lot of pillows and extra blankets.
• We saw four or five tiny ants crawling around in the bathroom but the staff said they would take care of this right away.

“We stayed here while our son was participating in an athletic event in Hampton. The hotel was very nice for the price. We only stayed one night and the accommodations were great. The kids loved swimming in the indoor pool! The beds were comfortable and the room had a lot of pillows and extra blankets. The hotel was also very close to restaurants and shopping. Check in was fast and easy as well as check-out. We will stay again if in the area.”

• The hotel was safe and comfortable.
• There was nothing that I didn't like about the hotel

“This hotel was very nice. It has a nice indoor pool which was great since the weather was not pool weather. The hotel also has a laundry if you want to wash your clothes. It also has plenty of parking. I recommend if anyone stays in Newport News, VA, they should stay at the Omni Newport News hotel.”

“It was a convenient, well-run hotel with friendly employees and they were efficient. The swimming pool was clean and a nice plus. Our room was clean and our maid was excellent! We did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food. We thought it was romantic and would definitely return again.”

• Location to the site of my work in Newport News, VA, and friendly staff.
• Pool was filthy and not maintained.

“The Omni has gone through several incarnations. The fact that a major local disco-nightclub is located within the property can make staying there interesting, unless you are in the bed asleep by 10 p.m. But the staff is friendly and tries hard, and the fading glow of being an "Omni" from the days when that meant 4-star, still lingers.”

“It was a great place to stay. It was just minutes away from the conference, located near shopping and dinning. Overall it was a great experience. I would tell friends/relatives to keep the Omni on their list of great places to stay.”

• Away from main road, nice driveway to hotel, friendly service.
• Rooms are beginning to look dated.

“Once you found the entrance to the hotel (easy to miss the first time as it is around a curve and comes up pretty quickly), you are impressed by the tree lined driveway up to the hotel. Parking is ample, and the public areas spacious and clean.”

• Very nice hotel. The rooms are furnished well, the staff was friendly.
• Shows some wear and tear. Nightclub & a wedding at the hotel = drunk mob outside hotel on arrival.

“We arrived at the hotel around 11:30 pm after spending a day at Busch gardens in Williamsburg. The hotel looked very nice, but there was a bunch of people standing around outside. It became clear that there was a wedding reception of some sort being held at the hotel, and I later learned that there is also a nightclub at the hotel. We were a bit uncomfortable leading our children past a bunch of drunken party goers to get into the hotel, but once inside, that were ok. The staff was very friendly; the rooms are nicely furnished and clean. The hotel shows some wear and tear, but overall it's very nice.”

• TV cabinet set up a bit awkward, bathroom small.

“This hotel was hands down the best in service and best value for the $. (Stayed in Iowa, Hyatt and all other major brands) it is misclassified as a 3 star and should easily be a 4 star. Hate to say it as the price will go up but it is worth it and deserves a 4 star. Please double check the rating on this one.”

• The overall features of the hotel.
• Nightclub and police at entrance, room in disrepair.

“Overall the stay was sufficient; however it was far below my expectation for its star rating. The two most devastating areas were the nightclub that brought a lot of local nightlife to the front door. I expected the room to be upscale; however there were many things that need fixing or replacing. I would be hard-pressed to stay there again.”

• Club is below the hotel rooms and I did not feel safe. The staff was not friendly.

“This hotel failed to meet my expectations. The rooms were bugged infested and there was a fire in the middle of our stay in the kitchen. The fire alarms within the rooms did not work. The staff was unhelpful and uncaring.”

“Even though one can see the Omni hotel sign from I64 (when the light is right!) this hotel is very difficult to get to. I spent 1/2 hour just trying to get there, when in actuality, I was within 2 minutes away! Very hard to see, and find!”

“Lovely location. Grand interior. Comfortable beds. However, a lot of odor-covering-up spray made us suspicious. Bathroom had not been cleaned but once noticed, we were too tired to complain and move.”

“It is really a beautiful hotel with quiet, comfortable rooms and a very nice pool area. Didn't try the restaurant, but it looked very nice and you could smell some of the scents from the kitchen while walking through the lobby.”

• Staff was very professional, yet friendly. Room excellent. Pool enjoyable.
• A little hard to navigate to location but overall was fine.

“The staff not only was professional and friendly, they seemed to actually enjoy their jobs. Room was very up-to-date, clean, with comfortable beds. The pool and hot tub were maintained at proper temperatures and well attended by staff. Very nice to have a guest laundry adjacent to the pool area.”

• Friendly staff and the hotel were in a great location.
• People standing in the front entrance with beer bottles in their hands.

“The overall stay at the hotel was good. The staff was friendly and the hotel was clean and well kept. The only issue I had was people standing and drinking in the front entrance while people were entering and leaving the hotel. There was a club area designated for that.”

• The hotel was very clean and the staff with especially nice.
• Absolutely no complaints.

“The hotel was even nicer in person than the photographs revealed. It was a special surprise to learn that upon arrival I was able to sign up for the "Select" guest program. By simply completing the form, the hotel furnished my room with my preferred type of pillows (feather) and free beverages via room service every morning of my stay. The entire facility was clean and modern. The staff was very accommodating. The pool and Jacuzzi were clean and well maintained. Overall it was a very pleasurable experience.”

• Good proximity to Yorktown and Williamsburg for less money, room with king bed, pull-out sofa for kids, pool, fitness room.
• Hot tub was broken, staff did not attend to noise complaints as quickly as we would have liked.

“Unfortunate placement of our family next to group of younger night-clubbers caused us to have to call hotel staff at 2 am due to noise from hall and room next door with large group of people. Also, smoke came into our room, which was a non-smoking room. Out of concern that group might wake our kids, my husband called hotel staff to get group to quiet down. Took two phone calls before staff was successful and by that time, we had been awake for over an hour. Restaurant had great breakfast with terrific service but eggs were cold. Hot tub was broken but pool was nice. Usually love to stay at Omni Hotels. This stay was enjoyable but not one of the nicest Omni's.”

• The hotel beautifully decorated. The rooms were large, furnished with good quality furniture and very much like home. Very satisfactory.
• We only had a short vacation and did not have enough time to spend at this beautiful hotel.

• It was very clean, the staff was excellent, the food was delicious. it had everything we needed.
• We liked everything about the hotel. no complaints.

“The Newport News Omni is the place to stay. The staff was excellent. When our TV broke on Friday and they couldn't fix it, they offered to change rooms for us. We said no thanks and they gave us voucher for 2 free breakfast buffets for the next morning. The staff did everything they could to accommodate our needs including changing our room to a king bed instead of two doubles. the rooms were clean and the beds are the most comfortable I have ever slept in. All in all, a very positive experience.”

• Beautiful lobby, fitness room is nice and pool is beautiful.
• The hotel needs to remodel and repaint the walls.

“The maid isn't up to par. There weren't enough coffee mugs, a "hair" was in the tub upon our arrival, and the next day, she asked if we needed room service as I was walking out, but not in a friendly way. The restaurant needs to be redecorated to be more upscale, not as it is, like a Bob Evans restaurant.”

• The beds, pillows and comforter were extremely comfortable and luxurious.
• Nothing.

“The hotel was very nice both inside and outside. They had down comforters and pillows or something similar to down comforters and pillows. They had a refrigerator and from what I saw the staff was fantastic to the customers. I did not have a credit card (only a bank card) and they were very happy to let me use it instead of a credit card. I would stay in this hotel again and plan to from now on when I go down there. I can't say enough good things about this hotel.”
