“In short, I liked it very much. It met my needs, was unique because historic, and had a great location. I would go back as long as the rates remain reasonable.” Aug 22, 2008 by
John from Hampton, VA
“Excellent hotel in Annapolis convenient to the harbor and a short drive to Baltimore.” Aug 6, 2008 by
Claudia from Rio De Janeiro BR
“I had a great time, the staff is very nice. It was a pleasure to stay there, in the middle of Annapolis downtown. I loved it.” Apr 23, 2008 by
David from Toms River, NJ
“Room was way to small for two people, bathroom was way to small, the whole building was out of square and when clothes were in the dresser the draws wouldn't stay closed. They had valet parking buy no way near enough valets and the street in front of the hotel was to narrow so if valet was there you had to drive around till they came out to park your car.” Mar 21, 2008 by
Stephen from Cambridge, MD
“My mother always told me "If you can't say anything good, then don't say anything at all". I hope that expresses my opinion in a nut shell. I have never been so disappointed in a hotel in my life. Especially for such a historic location. Oh, one more thing, clear English speaking desk clerks would be expected.” Aug 24, 2007 by
Jamie from Bear, DE
“Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at the historic inns. It has a great location and they valet park your car which is great in Annapolis. The hotel itself is very well kept and the staff is friendly. You will find a paper at your door and a down comforter on your bed. The only negative thing is the rooms are a little small, but if it is a small party it is just fine. Definitely too quiet for kids!! Overall, great experience and I plan to go back!” Jun 12, 2007 by
Robert from Highland Park, NJ
“A beautiful centrally located hotel. Friendly staff. The only difficulty was a tiny room without a chair or a desk.” May 31, 2007 by
Jae from East Brunswick, NJ
“We checked out immediately. Definitely not for a family. We have two younger children. The smallest hotel room I have ever seen. More peeves: small wall air conducting unit & shower/no tub.” Apr 23, 2007 by
Natasha from Gaithersburg, MD
“Due to an air conditioner unit in the window, it felt like we were sleeping outside, very noisy. So I think I was put in the lowest priced room for that reason, and the room did not look much like the pictures. But very clean.” Mar 7, 2007 by
Jeff from Red Lion, PA
“Good location.” Jan 28, 2007 by
Patrick B. from Wyoming, DE
“It¿s going through some renovations, but the staff was very friendly and hospitable. It¿s in great walking distance to everything in the waterfront area. The only downfall had to pay for parking in a garage which is a few blocks away.” Dec 14, 2006 by
Wesley from Clinton, PA
“It was a great experience with a different feel versus the regular hotels. We loved it!” Sep 25, 2006 by
Lori from Wilminton, NC
“This is suppose to be a 2.5 star hotel, yet the rooms are so cramped that only a double bed can barely fit. There was no tub, only a very small shower in my room. There is no one at the front desk at the Maryland Inn and no one to help with baggage which is a problem since there is no parking at this hotel. Mouse droppings were found on the linens, and one hotel guest actually saw a mouse in her room. We were locked out of our room. We had to go to our parked car (several blocks away) to get the paperwork proving that we had two more days left, yet they would not show proof that it wasn't their mistake. We left early even though we had prepaid for more days because we really couldn't take it there any longer.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Sep 23, 2006 by

“There are more than one building making up Historic Inns of Annapolis, if you have the unfortunate luck of getting booked at the Maryland Inn, expect mice feces on linens, no one at the front desk, no help with your bags and the smallest rooms imaginable, too small to even have a tub in the bathroom. And please do not expect your room to be cleaned, or get a bar of soap to clean yourself in the tiny little shower. And please don't expect anyone to be friendly or helpful.” Sep 20, 2006 by
Philip from Charleston, SC
“We stayed at Governor Calvert House - a sophisticated and charming hotel, exceeding its 2&1/2 star rating. However, the Staff were too young and informal for the rarefied atmosphere.” Sep 8, 2006 by
Joseph from Galloway, NJ
“The location is the best in Annapolis; less than a five minute walk to the shops and great restaurants on the dock. One can conveniently book tours around the city or cruises on the bay.” Sep 6, 2006 by
Phil from Greensboro, NC
“From the moment we arrived we felt right at home. Our room was beautifully decorated and well appointed. The staff were very friendly and eager to assist us in any way possible. The Inn is located on State Circle in the heart of Annapolis and is within walking distance to numerous shops, restaurants, and bars. I would highly recommend this inn to anyone visiting Annapolis and I look forward to a return visit.” Sep 5, 2006 by
Lauren from Watertown, MA
“The room was elegantly decorated and well kept. The location on State Circle is very quiet. One downside is that they valet your car so you have waits to receive it back. I hope they consider telling people about a public parking lot a few blocks away which is less expensive and less of a hassle. The hotel does not have room service but does supply coffee and tea in the lobby.” Sep 3, 2006 by
Linda from Dillon, CO
“It was nice to have a historic room in a historic location that was also very comfortable in "today" standards. I was impressed with the fact that I could look out my window at the first Capitol and that George Washington had actually resigned his commission there.” Aug 6, 2006 by
Jeanne from Lockport, IL
“The Historic Inns of Annapolis couldn't have been in a nicer location! Beautiful, historic hotel in the heart of historic Annapolis within walking distance to U.S. Naval Academy, marina, shopping, dining, etc! The entire hotel staff was friendly, efficient and readily available. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable.” Aug 3, 2006 by
John from Cape Girardeau, MO
“GREAT Location across the street from the Capitol building and walking distance to all kinds of restaurants and the US Naval Academy.” Aug 3, 2006 by
Alex
“Nice hotel in pristine condition right in the center of town. I'm surprised it wasn't rated as a 3 star hotel, but I suppose that's because it lacks a restaurant and bar. However, this is a fantastic little hotel with friendly staff and nicely appointed rooms. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.” Jul 17, 2006 by
Edwin from Emmaus, PA
“The location could not have been better for Annapolis, right on Church circle in easy walking distance from everything you'd want to do. The unique structure on the corner was wonderful to look at.” Jul 14, 2006 by
Jacob from Colorado Springs, CO
“This was a very nice hotel in an excellent location.” Jul 13, 2006 by
Beatrice from Champaign, IL
“The location was wonderful -- in center of historic district plus not far from the water. Very clean. People passing by on the street stopped to look at this wonderful building. Great experience.” Jul 12, 2006 by
William from Belvidere, IL
“Historic in a charming section of old Annapolis.” Jun 30, 2006 by
Mae from Salisbury, MD
“These are incredible properties located in the heart of Annapolis. For anyone desiring to have a "Historic" visit, this would be the place to stay. The rooms were gorgeous, but the parking situation was an aggravation to me as I did not desire the extra expense of the valet parking and then of course, tips. I was also there for business on the OTHER side of Annapolis, so the location wasn't great for me. However if you want to be close to the Naval Academy or any of the historic spots downtown as well as the City Dock, this would be the place to stay.” Jun 27, 2006 by
Lydia from Sandpoint, ID
“Don't know how to review. I called to let them know I would be late arrival. when I arrived, the hotel was booked and they had me stay at another hotel. although there was free parking at this hotel, the hotel they booked me in charged $15 for parking and they did not cover this expense.” Jun 19, 2006 by
Victor from Indiana, PA
“First two rooms we were given were not made-up. Had to track down someone to help us which took time. On third try we were given a larger, very nice room.” Jun 17, 2006 by
Lindsey from Plymouth, MI
“This hotel is in an excellent location. Annapolis is a great walking city and this hotel puts you in the perfect spot to see all the sites of the city. The only inconvenience was the check-in, which is done at another building. A valet then escorts you to your particular hotel at a cost of 20 dollars. You have the option of parking your car yourself, but trying to find parking on a summer afternoon in Annapolis is hard to do. Overall, we had a great stay.” Jun 12, 2006 by
Frazier from Wilmington, DE
“Quaint hotel formerly the home to the first two governors of Maryland. Fifty-Five comfortable accommodations in a relaxing atmosphere. Very friendly staff who were quite responsive. Rooms were good size and beds quite comfortable. Perfect location as Main street was two short blocks away. Parking on the street was very tight but we had valet parking for $20. Free in and out use of car. Restaurants short walk away. One right next store. Normal price of room was $229. We paid $80” May 30, 2006 by
Drew from Cranston, RI
“Nice hotel close to everything in Annapolis. Our room was small but comfortable. We took the valet parking ($20 per 24 hrs - May 2006 cost) rather than park a block or two away in unknown place (no free parking in Annapolis). I'd happily stay there again.” May 25, 2006 by
Tom from Chicago, IL
“Great scenic location! Staff and guest were very pleasant and accommodating to guest needs! Hotel location ideal for stroll to various historic sites, USNA, local shops and stores, and wide variety of restaurants ... all close by! Highly recommend a visit to Annapolis and your stay at the Historic Inns of Annapolis! TN Chicago, IL” May 22, 2006 by
Mike from Hillsborough, NC
“Across street from State Capital building. I was traveling on business, but this would be great for a romantic get away. Room 218 where I stayed was beautiful but would be a problem for anyone with mobility problems.” May 3, 2006 by
Carole from Neptune, NJ
“We truly enjoyed our accommodations, clean and nicely decorated (recently remodeled). Our first night was in the Johnson house and the air did not work so the next night they moved us to the Maryland house and an even nicer room. For the inconvenience they gave us a ticket for brunch for 2 in the Treaty of Paris Rest VERY Good! They also swallowed the 20.00 valet parking for us. They were so nice and we would most certainly return to the Historic Inns of Annapolis. ” Apr 26, 2006 by
Christina from Poulsbo, WA
“I have stayed at this hotel before and I must say that they are headed down with customer service. Since my last stay they have remodeled with is very nice but the current staff needs to be remodeled as well.” Apr 26, 2006 by
Susan from Chapel Hill, NC
“Hotel was excellent.” Apr 21, 2006 by
Gary from Mcdonough, GA
“A historical property with all modern conveniences and walking distance to the key places.” Apr 18, 2006 by
Rich from Patchogue, NY
“The other reviews I read about the hotel may have been old, but I thought the hotel was great. It has a great location, a 2 minute walk from main street. The room was beautiful. we stayed at the Robert Johnson house, so I can't vouch for the other buildings, but I would assume they are very similar and hopefully just as nice.” Apr 14, 2006 by
Janet from Felton, DE
“I would highly recommend this hotel. Especially to the couple that just wants to get away from it all, like we did. ” Apr 12, 2006 by
Scott from Grand Rapids, MI
“This hotel was amazingly beautiful. Restored with antique or antique looking furniture. It was fabulous. Had a great time.” Apr 11, 2006 by
Jennifer from Alexandria, VA
“Great hotel great location, good for couples travelers without kids.” Apr 10, 2006 by
Ron from Alpharetta, GA
“They moved us to a lower quality hotel in an inconvenient location. The second hotel failed to clean the room the first day and the keys would only work one day at a time. A valet parking charge was mandatory but several days they parked the car at an unprotected public lot 10 minutes away.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Apr 8, 2006 by

“This hotel was right in the heart of Annapolis, so getting around in town was very easy. The hotel we stayed in was the Maryland Inn (They have 3 different buildings) The rooms were extremely small, no vending machines, no ice machines and the mandatory valet parking was not only over-priced it also took quite a long time to get your car delivered. The rooms had updated items such as: Flat screen TV's and stereo alarm clocks, robes & complimentary soaps & shampoo. Our room had a completely updated bathroom, thank goodness however, the bedroom rug looked to be from at least the 30's era. It was not the worst place I've ever stayed in BUT, I would have enjoyed it much better if they had at least a place in the building to buy a can of soda & get ice after the restaurant closes. But if you are looking for a quaint "1700's" historic hotel, in the heart of old town Annapolis, this is it.” Mar 23, 2006 by
Chris from Annandale, VA
“When I travel, I do not care about amenities such as weight rooms, pools, etc. I like a beautiful room with a comfortable bed in a good location. This hotel provided all three. We were able to do all of our getting around on foot. Also, the complimentary coffee was of good quality.” Mar 21, 2006 by
Cherie from Unionville, TN
“This is my third visit to the Historic Inns. I always arrive feeling as if I have been welcomed to a small European hotel and leave feeling refreshed. The Historic Inns are my favorite place to stay on the East Coast when I need a hotel that is both efficient and charming.” Feb 24, 2006 by
Mary from High Bridge, NJ
“Very nice Inn. Great location, clean. Staff was nice. No parking in the area, only valet which makes it hard if you want to go in and out. But it is a short nice walk to the waterfront.” Dec 7, 2005 by
Ryan from New York, NY
“Lovely place.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 30, 2005 by

“Overall cleanliness was not what was expected. There was dust on the floor, gum under the bed and a hairpin. Also there was mildew on the wall. Too bad, it could be a beautiful hotel with a litte extra effort.” Jul 31, 2005 by
Carrie from Wormleysburg, PA
“My husband and I stayed at the Inns of Annapolis for our honeymoon. When we arrived, the staff said our room was ready, but when we went to the room, it wasn't. We were given another room, which was a smoking room and we had requested non-smoking. The third room was a charm and we enjoyed our stay very much.”
