“Good hotel, professional staff that takes jobs seriously. Great location, but location is a bit noisy. Near Ithaca commons. Good place. However, ask for your room to be made up when you leave in the am or they might not get to it until very late in the day.”

• The staff was professional, The location was good, and it was reliable.
• Stayed in older section of the hotel.

“We stayed in the older section of this hotel, which appeared to be of a lower quality than the tower, and surprising after seeing the nicer lobby. The hotel was clean and spacious, just without any frills. Try to get the tower if you're trying to stay here. The staff was friendly and helpful.”

• The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and even cheerfully accommodated our need to have our dog join us in the room at the last minute.
• The layout was a little odd in that the coffee maker was in the room with the toilet and tub, while the sink was in the anteroom space.

“The hotel is an older, but lovely Holiday Inn. The accommodations are more than adequate. But the staff was great: friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable about the community, including how to get to college admissions offices. Great pet policy: $15 one time fee to have our dog in the room with us.”

• Excellent location. Plenty of parking.
• minor cleanliness issues in the room, SLOW internet.

“I read some good and some bad reviews of this hotel, depending upon which section you stayed in. I was in the 2 story section facing Cayuga st. There were some minor cleanliness issues with the room but overall, I was satisfied. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I probably wouldn't pay the full price but for the Priceline deal it was worth it and I would do it again.”

• Location, internet in room.
• Our view was a rooftop compressor, fake green dusty leaves & flowers with white Christmas lights line the stairs.

“The hotel was not at all 3 star. I guess I am used to Marriott quality & cleanliness. This was the first night I was away with my husband in years and it was not at all a romantic, quality hotel room. Old fixtures, dirty tub caulking, older carpet.”

• In the heart of Ithaca (downtown) close to Cornell.
• Needs an upgrade - little moldy in the tub - all paper old.

“If I had paid about $20 less a night I would have been pleased. I'm glad I didn't pay full price, but I wasn't dissatisfied. It met my primary need - clean and safe.”

• It was clean.
• Construction work woke us up very early and continued.

“The hotel room was very clean. Good access to Cornell University. However, we were awakened by hotel construction workers at 6:45am. I called the front desk and the noise continued. We were trying to sleep because we had a long day/evening ahead of us and a long drive home late that night. I called the front desk twice but it continued. I don't think they should be talking, scraping, painting and wallpapering through the wall right next to my head at 6:45AM. Guests should not be placed in a wing that is being remodeled. Construction crews were rolling equipment up and down the hallways. During checkout, the clerk did not even apologize.”

“This hotel looked more like a cheap motel - not at all like a 3 star hotel. Parking lot was awful. Ambience was depressing. Corridor was extremely noisy. We wouldn't want to go back to this hotel.”

• Spectacular location.

“Ground floor rooms have no view to speak of (although I hear the upper floor rooms have a lake view). Service was excellent, the rooms were very clean, and the location is probably the most centrally located in Ithaca as one can get!”

“The tower room with the king size bed was large, clean and comfortable. Very comfortable chair and ottoman. Good dark curtains that closed well. Bathroom was clean and very nice. Staff was pleasant. Close to the downtown area to restaurants and shopping. Would probably stay again.”

• The hotel was centrally located and within walking distance to restaurants.
• Parking was tight, the room was small and dark and the air conditioner droned all night long.

“This hotel is conveniently located to the central mall walkway and restaurants. The room we were given at the back of the hotel was small, dull and the air conditioner droned all night long. The parking lot is very tight and if you show up late you may not get a spot. The staff were polite but didn't go out of their way make sure we had a pleasant stay. If your looking for a basic hotel close to downtown this place is ok but I would rate it lower than the 3 stars that are given to it.”

“Very heavy odor of carpet sanitizer in both rooms. Difficult to adjust climate control; rooms were very stuffy. Good downtown location and parking. Lobby was nice but corridors and rooms were kind of shabby for a purportedly 3-star hotel. No refrigerator in rooms.”

“Though do not disturb sign was on my door, housekeeping knocked on my door every morning at 8am. When I returned to my room after it was cleaned each day, the A/C was on full blast in my empty unforgivably wasteful and the weather wasn't even that hot, also, the lock broke on my door and I was moved to another room with NO apology for the inconvenience.”

• There were stains on the carpet and the carpet was old. It needs to be renewed. Waiting time for the elevator.

“We had old, worn, rooms in the back which reeked of cigarette smoke, had a sagging, lumpy mattress and could not be considered to be 3 star. Service was poor or non-existent. Door locks were not functioning correctly. When I complained about the terrible room and poor service.”

• It was very convenient and comfortable.
• We had to take a smoking room, not enough parking.

“This is a clean hotel, and conveniently located. The key card machine was broken when we arrived, but we were able to check in and pick up our key cards later. I was not happy about that as we were given a smoking room. There is not enough parking at the hotel, and the lot is very tight. Overall, the room was clean, the beds comfortable, bathrooms clean, and I had one of the best hotel showers at this hotel - good hot water and good water pressure.”

• Rusty fixtures in bathroom; mildew in grout of bath tub; bed is too soft.

“I don't know about rooms in the tower but my room on the ground floor was a big disappointment. The bath tub grout featured a healthy serving of mildew, the toilet paper holder was rusty and the other fixtures in the bathroom looked like they were retrieved from a salvage yard and slapped together by a three year-old. Moving to the bedroom, the bed sheets were rumpled and the mattress so soft that I woke up with a backache - the mattress provided no support whatsoever. The carpet had certainly seen better days and probably hadn't been given a good cleaning since the Carter administration. All in all, a big disappointment for a supposed 3-star hotel.”

• Would have liked outside pool-but inside pool was very nice.

• "Free 24 hr shuttle service" is loosely translated.

“Clean room, clean bathroom, clean public facilities. Hotel staff is probably the worst trained I have ever seen at an level hotel. The "free 24hr local shuttle service" was very loosely translated. There's only one driver who doesn't always work. Other times, they will call a cab for you and pay for the cab service. However, when you ask for a shuttle, the woman at the counter responds with ok. Where do I wait? Who do I wait for? How long do I need to wait? After waiting outside for nearly 5 minutes (next to the empty shuttle by the way), I go back inside and ask when the shuttle driver is going to be there. She responds he's not here today, and that's it. So I'm confused and ask um, but you said 'ok. And she hands me a slip of paper and says, here. It was a voucher for a cab service. Absolutely frustrating.”

• The hotel is in Downtown Ithaca and within walking distance to the commons.
• Inexperienced staff and short on housekeepers. Rooms weren't ready at check in and we were given keys to an unclean room.

“This hotel is close to many of the attractions of Downtown Ithaca and is consistent with a 2 star rated hotel. It doesn't offer some of the amenities that other hotels I have stayed at have offered.”

“Excellent location-close to downtown amenities, courteous and considerate staff, nice restaurant with moderately high prices, clean fitness room and pool area. Hotel floor plan is a little broken up, staff is not direction expert, could more concierge type knowledge. However I would recommend it and stay again.”

• The lounge area had no energy to it.

“I found the hotel to be clean and wonderfully located within one block of Ithaca commons and only a 10 minute walk from College Town area. Great dining and pubs within walking distance.”
