• Location is good.
• This is not a three star hotel, as represented. It borders on fraud to say that it is.

“This hotel should have its entire HVAC system replaced. The noise was deafening in the two rooms I was given, and throughout the facility. I was not able to sleep, and the hotel staff pretended that everything was normal, saying after all it's an old hotel. Marriott should be ashamed to have its name connected with this hotel.”

• The lobby was beautiful and location great.
• The room was dirty and sub par. Air conditioner broken.

“The location of this hotel is great for those wanting to go to Baltimore without having to stay in the city. The parking situation is free but extremely tight and cramped. The room was very disappointing despite the large size. Air conditioner broken and general sense of unseemliness.”

• The room was a great one BR suite. Very spacious and comfortable.

“The hotel room was very nice and comfortable. The only problem was that check-in was an hour later than what the reservation and the Marriot Website said, meaning we had to wait in the lobby for an hour especially after the room was not ready at check-in time as well.”

• The bed was comfortable.
• Chipped paint everywhere. Mold on the balcony.

“It appeared to be used as a dorm. The hotel lobby and restaurants seemed to be clean and neat but the room's appearance was much to be desired. Not what I expected from a Marriott facility.”

• It was a little worn.

“Right in the heart of downtown, across from the University, this hotel provides ample space for families and guests who hate the standard hotel room. Breakfast buffet starts at 6:30 AM and has enough variety for all. It is slightly worn but no more so than other hotels in the area. I'd recommend it on the space aspect alone.”

• Amazing space in the rooms, great location near shopping.
• The hotel staff is pleasant, but unknowledgeable.

“These are huge suites with full kitchens. Great soundproofing. The restaurant was way overpriced for the quality and slow service. Great location near lots of little stores in Towson and across the street from Towson university (great for walking).”

• The room is a suite and has a full kitchen.
• It badly needs renovation; attachments are literally falling off the wall.

“As always Marriott employees are fabulous. We needed a rollaway and it was there in less than 5 minutes. You can't beat the space; it's the size of a one bedroom apartment. The hotel itself is walking distance to movies and restaurants and stores.”

• Put on old UN-renovated floors.

“Hotel with huge rooms (at least 800sqft). In the middle of a major renovation. While the rooms are clean, they are OLD and WORN. After renovation (late November 2006) this will be a real gem.”

• Room was rather shopworn. Extreme noise from carpet installation.

“The quality of the hotel falls a bit shy of the typical experience of a Marriott property. The room was a bit shopworn and in need maintenance. Although amenities such as a kitchen were included, supplies for dish washing were not (common to Residence Inn by Marriott properties). The hotel was installing new carpet in rooms. The hammering and pounding woke me far in advance of my planned hour leaving me rather tired during the day.”

• The staff were friendly, polite, and accommodating.
• There was no pool a big must have with children, the parking situation was horrendous.

“The only thing good about this hotel was the friendly staff and that there was a kitchen w/ washer and dryer in the room. My major dissatisfaction was that there was no pool, and the parking in the parking garage was terrible. The spaces were too small, it was not very well lit, there were overhead sewer pipes just a few feet above our heads, it was just terrible to say the least. ”

• The amenities are nice.
• The front desk staff was horrible.

“This stay was for our wedding anniversary and we were not impressed. We were given the smallest room with a broken window after letting the front desk know it was our anniversary and that I was a silver elite Marriott member. After we switched to a better room, we ordered room service which came an hour late because they forgot our last name and room number. The supervisor was apologetic about the room service problem and gave us free breakfast which was really good. I was not too happy to find that the hotel is owned by a local university and that students live on the lower floors. Maybe that is why the service was not up to par and the rooms were not renovated. The only change to the rooms that I could tell from the last time we were there were the new sheets. The pillow covers are too small for the pillows. They stuffed these huge pillows into these standard size covers making it very uncomfortable to sleep. Basically, I was very disappointed.”

• I enjoyed absolutely nothing about this hotel.
• There were ants crawling all over the furniture.

“I brought my wife and newborn son to the hotel to spend 2 nights. This was THE WORST HOTEL STAY ever. The rooms were very old the tiles in the bathroom shower had mildew stains, and there was hair all over the floor. But the icing on the cake was that while sitting on the couch feeding our baby my wife discovered hundreds of ants crawling all over the coffee table, the carpet, and other furniture. We checked out of the hotel after one night. This was the worst experience for me and my family.”

• smell of vomit in hall, delayed elevator

“Check in went smoothly and room was very comfortable and clean but there was an odor of vomit in the hall/elevator area later in evening. I also had difficulty getting the elevator to take me down to the parking garage from the lobby. It would only go up despite pushing the down button.”

• On arrival they did not have a room for us -I had confirmed it excuse was that people had extended their stay I feel they did it to get a higher $

“The hotel was lovely -but I feel that they should not have taken my bid if they were not going to have a room. They were VERY nice the next day -giving us breakfast and wine but that still does not make up for no room even though they sent us to a Hoilday Inn that was 15min further away from there and obviously not as nice”

• Located close to shopping and the funeral home that we were there to visit for a dear friend.
• the screen left in our room for the window did not fit it properly. There was only a single bed-side table making it difficult for my wife to read.

“The staff of the hotel went out of their way to make things exactly as we needed, even allowing me the opportunity to print our boarding passes at no cost. Everyone was friendly and the "apartment" roomy and had everything including a washer and dryer. Our one night stay didn't require that we use it, but a wonderful place to stay with family or for a long time.”

• My son goes to school there so it is very convenient. I also like the 2 rooms and the kitchen.
• There parking lot is terrible, spaces to close together extremly hard to park.

“This hotel is well located for Baltimore and great for the universities that are near Towson, Towson state, johns Hopkins, Goucher college etc. The rooms are really small apartments with kitchens and separate bedrooms and living rooms. The two bed rooms are actually two separate bedrooms with a living room kitchen. It is a huge space especially for a weekend jaunt. The rooms were clean, the beds very comfortable, the views nice and the staff friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.”

“We really enjoyed our week-end stay at the Birkshire Marriott. Fred and I quickly adjusted to our rooms and relaxed as if we were at home. We did not rate this hotel a # 10 for the following reasons. No shower cap or tooth paste. Sliding glass door was dirty. No ice in refrig. & was told at front desk they didn't have any.”

“We expected a good quality hotel that would sleep at least two adults. We got a full two bedroom suite with kitchen, dining area, two bedrooms and two full baths! I wanted to move there permanently!! The hotel was located exactly where we though it would be and the continental buffet breakfast was good and very moderately price. A hit!”
