• The pool was nice.
• Parking on premises cost $18.00 for one night. Ridiculous.

“Lobby was beautiful. The room was nice, although it was a smoking room with some odors. (We asked for, but could not get a non smoking room. Morning buffet was plentiful but I thought they should have a reduced price for a child. But I can't get over charging a hotel guest $18 to park on premises for one night. This should have been made apparent before I parked in the lot.”

“Staff very helpful but generally the hotel was too small and dated to have a 3 star rating in my opinion. I am thankful to other travelers for alerting me about the overnight parking fee-I opted for public transportation rather than renting a car in order to avoid that additional expense. I would have been very unhappy to have been surprised by that.”

“We were not given a choice of smoking or not and we got a smoking room. All the no smoking rooms were booked. They offered to move us after one night, but we declined. The restaurant was being renovated and the temporary arrangements were not very good. However, there was another restaurant nearby for breakfast.”

• The pool was very nice.
• The restaurant was very expensive for breakfast and there was no where to eat without driving.

“This is a very nice hotel. We enjoyed our stay there. It was in a nice location and I felt very secure about the car parking. The cookie at check-in was a very nice touch and the kids really loved it. I would have enjoyed it even more if they would have offered a continental breakfast or some breakfast choices within a more reasonable price range.”

“The Inn at the Colonnade was a nice, clean hotel, convenient for our vacation in Baltimore. The staff were extremely friendly, and welcomed us at check-in with warm cookies -- yum! We usually stay at motels that offer a free breakfast, so we missed having that option. The room service was too pricey for our budget, so we ended up having to go look for a restaurant to eat breakfast in. We checked into the option of having a microwave and/or refrigerator in the room, but at the cost of $40.00, decided to fore go that! The parking garage was conveniently located near the hotel, but was rather expensive. We would probably consider staying here again.”

• Its location.
• The room...very small...no breakfast, no bill receipt, no help with the wireless internet.

“I believe this is an older hotel in the Doubletree line that has been remodeled, but I'm not sure. They appear to be still in the remodeling stage. Very little contact with the staff after checking in. They looked at me like I was some sort of sneak.”

“Gave us the smallest room in the motel. One bed. Wouldn't give us later checkout or give us room with 2 beds. Parking was $18 a day. Charged for USA Today. Did have free Wi-Fi which was nice. Nice pool. Wouldn't ever consider this place a 3 star motel. I assume it gets this rating because of its normal nightly cost. But believe me it is way overpriced.”

• It is located relatively close to major road and in a quiet area.
• A lot of renovations going on but little to help the guest through them.

“Close to the Johns Hopkins University with clean room and good service. Many details left unsure. No ice, had to go to a disconcerted restaurant worker. Parking was overpriced and valet left you out in the rain because of the renovation. Phone not working properly, etc. Just annoying little stuff.”

• Fairly quiet neighborhood.
• No bed selection.

“If you're visiting Johns Hopkins University, the location is ideal because it's literally walking distance to the campus. However, it is not close to downtown or the main attractions (approx. 5 miles to Inner Harbor). Parking costs extra ($18.00 per 24 hours for self parking, even more with valet). I was disappointed that I could not get a room with two beds, which I requested. The room was clean and fairly comfortable, although the pillows were very thin and did not provide a comfortable position for sleeping.”

“Nice large rooms and clean, great location in a very safe neighborhood, appears to be an older property that was purchased by Doubletree as bathrooms show their age. Everything was well kept and service was good, but I recommend the bathrooms be updated.”

“Once again, I called the hotel after getting a confirmation and requested 2 double beds and no smoking room. They indicated they could not change the reservation, but I should let them know upon check in. I arrived around 5:30 PM and following instructions requested 2 beds and non smoking room and got a very difficult time from the hotel reservation person who had me in a single bed, smoking room and wasn't about to change it in fear of getting into trouble. She ended up putting me in a HCP room with two beds. Once again this is becoming a major hassle. The following night in Fredrick I got the same deal at the Holiday Inn Express. Although I like the pick you own price option, I am continually getting a problem when I request 2 beds and non smoking room. ”

“Did I stay in the same hotel as the people who compared this place to a spa? Yes, the lobby area is nicely redone. However, the rooms are another matter. Our suite featured torn curtains and worn bedding. The valet left our new BMW outside for several hours, unlocked. Need help with luggage? Too bad, there's no one around. The free wifi was a nice gesture, but the signal was too weak to be much use. There are no Ethernet ports in the rooms.”

• Courteous staff and warm cookie on check-in.
• It was like staying in a youth hostel cheap furniture and paper-thin walls.

“You can not beat the location if you are visiting Johns Hopkins Homewood Campus, but be prepared to be housed as a "student". The grand entrance and lobby is but a tease for the shabby room that awaits you. Staff are extremely helpful.”

• Pool was too shallow to swim laps, room service dishes not picked up.

“Very nice location across the street from johns hopkins. A ways from downtown but location worth the small drive, very beautiful lobby and nice room. Pool is really cool with an atrium and a nice view, but too shallow to really swim.”

• Unbeatable convenience to JHU's Homewood campus.
• Relatively long cab ride to Inner Harbor and tourist attractions.

“The Inn At The Colonnade is a great option for anyone visiting JHU. Clean with all of the amenities one would expect from a Doubletree. No complaints whatsoever. Helpful and pleasant staff.”

• Wireless internet was not strong in my room, so I had to work in my pajamas in the lobby.

“Excellent location to visitors to both Towson and Johns Hopkins. It is not close to any restaurants (only a small cafe on the corner). Also, parking is $18/day, so be sure to factor that into your expenses. It was an absolutely beautifully decorated hotel, similar to a spa.”

• Wonderful staff-very willing to help with any questions.
• Meal service was lacking.

“This property had a very nice staff with a very clean and pretty hotel. The drawback is the availability of a meal. All the hotel offered was their dining room fare which although it looked good it was not what one looks for in an evening arrival meal. This inconvenience was compounded by the lack of restaurants within walking distance.”

• The night manager gave his personal cell phone number in case we got lost!
• It was not evident that parking for guests was not included in the bill.

“Looking for something close to Johns Hopkins? You cannot get closer! Safe and comfortable, this hotel is within easy driving distance of most of Baltimore. Check serveral different sources for a map to the hotel. Most are not detailed enough, and the large number of one way streets makes it easy to get lost looking for the hotel.”

• Terrible restaurant-expensive got food poisoning-sick all night

“Stayed there many times under prior doubletree management-no primarily a Hilton-Polo Grill (favorite rest) no longer exists. New restaurant a nightmare-lousy service, high priced, terrible food”

• Parking was over priced, rooms were small and had no desk or table.

“This hotel is over priced from the word go. Parking at 18.00 a day is rediculous, and you have to go to the front desk to check in before they issue you a parking voucher which means you have to return to your car. Rooms are extremely small with no desk or table for business travelers, or for those that take advantage of the over priced room service.”

• Great staff making you feel at home, complimentary warm chocolate chip cookies were very welcoming
• Additional bill drawn up on arrival

“Overall very pleased with hotel. Only problems were, bogus bill conjured up on arrival which was easily corrected. Shower head in room was at the high of my shoulder at only 5 feet high. The pool was closed to hotel guests due to renovations although certain people did have access to it, or another pool we did not know about. It would be nice if I knew parking was free of charge at the hotel. ”

“The hotel room was excellent and the staff went out of their way to help us out. We had dinner at the restaurant within the hotel and the food was expensive and not very good at all. I highly recommend staying at the hotel but do not eat at the restaurant within it.”
