“Great friendly staff.” Sep 1, 2009 by
Austin from Peabody,MA
“The hotel staff was very nice. The hotel was very high end as far as looks. This is a place for weddings, older couples or business professionals. There is no pool and really nothing fun in the area. It is an old business district. The staff were the best. They made the stay better for us. We were looking for a fun place to swim and enjoy the sights. We traveled 45 minutes to get to the fun.” Aug 31, 2009 by
Kevin from North Syracuse,NY
“A nice hotel, in what appears to be the heart of York PA, nothing much to do in the area, and if you venture far from the hotel, it gets rather ruff quick. Parking was a hassle and with the cost of parking and additional fee for my daughter's bed, it isn't a bargain in any way.” Aug 11, 2009 by
Colette from Milford,DE
“Beautiful historic building. Close enough to Hershey or Harrisburg to make the stay worth it. If you enjoy historic buildings, this one is a gem. 24/7 secure valet parking. Dress to dine. Although I didn't have time to enjoy the dining experience, the menu was posted and looked like something I would indulge in for a special occasion.” Jul 19, 2009 by
Keith from Trenton,NJ
“The room is very small and very worn out. They need to upgrade these rooms and overall apperance of this hotel. The staff was nice and helpful. Not a good hotel for the family or tobe romantic in. Might be ok for business travelers only .” Jul 11, 2009 by
Cassie from Uxbridge,MA
“At first I was upset that we ended up getting this hotel on Priceline, but staying there was a pleasure. If you are looking for a room to hang out in for long periods of time, this is not the place for it. The rooms are cozy and have VERY comfortable beds. The furniture is a bit worn but clean. This is a historic hotel, you shouldn't expect chrome furniture! Our bathroom was a bit snug. The sink area was fine. I would stay again.” Jul 1, 2009 by
Barb from Rockford,MI
“We loved our stay at the Yorktown Hotel! From the moment when the front desk clerk answered all our questions and told us how to find the Central Market to the last friendly goodbye at checkout, we had a great time. Actually, even before we stayed there, we made use of the many links to local attractions and all the great information on their website. Our corner room was huge, well-appointed, clean, and comfortable. Staff, both at the desk and housekeeping, were courteous and thorough about doing their jobs. The workout room and business center were not luxurious, but were great for keeping me on track with my goals. We highly recommend this hotel.” Jun 1, 2009 by
Rick from Grand Haven,MI
“This is a beautiful, historic hotel in the heart of York. Warm, welcoming staff and generously sized rooms.” May 30, 2009 by
Jean from Pennsville,NJ
“Newly tiled bathroom with a new shower head. Also had a new flat screen TV but the remote didn't want to work. Otherwise the room was old. A post was broken off the bed and the curtains were torn which lacked a pull to draw the curtains close. The room was a large corner room with a nice view of the state building next door. The hotel had limited staff as well as limited customers.” Apr 22, 2009 by
Donna from Lansdale,PA
“I would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat. The architectural detail was beautiful. Our room was very large and clean. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly.” Apr 22, 2009 by
Susan from Cameron,NC
“I am from York and the Yorktowne Hotel always had a good reputation. We waited for our room at check-in and the linens smelled. Not appropriate for a family.” Apr 1, 2009 by
Mehnaz from Washington,DC
“Overall, I was pleased with my stay. The furnishings were a bit outdated, and the bathroom was tiny and outdated as well. The room itself was quite spacious, however, and the hotel staff was nice.” Mar 13, 2009 by
Betty from Rock Spring,GA
“Would not recommend, bad area of town, very loud at night, rooms are so old and dingy and weird set up.” Jan 31, 2009 by
Eileen from Middleboro,MA
“We always feel safe and comfortable at the Yorktown hotel. Our car is probably safer here than anywhere in the city with valet parking and a private garage.” Nov 27, 2008 by
Carl from Bolton,CT
“Hotel in located in the historical district of York PA. Hotel owned valet parking cost me $7.00 per day and parking for my 6 X 8 cargo cost me $23.00 per day for 4 days, at a private lot. Needless to say I wasn't a bit happy about the whole thing.” Oct 20, 2008 by
Julia
“The hotel staff was great and very helpful. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting York, PA especially with its historical distinction.” Sep 5, 2008 by
Terry from King George, VA
“This hotel was in a very bad part of York PA. The rooms need an update, and maids to clean them.” Sep 5, 2008 by
Daniela from Salisbury, MD
“I really wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel. It is not a good place to be with kids. The ghetto area of the town starts right around the corner. You have to pay extra for parking and there was no valet parking. They also charge extra for rollaway beds ($15 a day), we were woken up several times during the night by loud street noises and loud music.” Sep 5, 2008 by
David from York, PA
“Have stayed here before and it's always consistent, charming and I recommend it to others often.” Sep 5, 2008 by
Kathy from Williamstown, NJ
“Its time to remodel the Yorktown Hotel. There were stains on the carpet, peeling wallpaper and the pillows and beds were terribly uncomfortable. We stayed for two nights and they forgot to clean our room or give us fresh towels.” Sep 3, 2008 by
Ralph “I did not like the fact I had to pay for parking. Oh well, that's life.” Sep 2, 2008 by
Francisco from Virginia Beach, VA
“Old but nice and comfortable hotel. Very friendly staff.” Sep 2, 2008 by
Lisa from Washington, DC
“While the Yorktown does not have many of the amenities that you might get in a fancy hotel in NYC, LA, or DC, my daughter (age 9) and I were pleasantly surprised and very pleased with our stay. The staff was very helpful and friendly--front desk, cleaning crew, and valet parkers. We were leisure travelers staying mid-week amongst business travelers, but we felt as well accommodated as they were. The room was spacious. The mattresses were extremely comfortable. The AC worked well. We had a decent view of York on the 6th floor. The secure valet parking at $7 per night can't be beat. Our only complaints were that we smelled a bit of cigarette smoke from the bathroom vent in our non-smoking room one night (closing the bathroom door kept it out of the room); we heard some brief repair work late one morning when we slept in; and the shower water alternated from hot to cool (so I took baths). I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quaint, historically decorated, friendly hotel. Lastly, the location was convenient (30-45 minutes) to Gettysburg Military Park, Hershey Park, and Strasburg, which were our primary destinations and highway access was easy.” Aug 29, 2008 by
Thelisa from Rochester, NY
“I enjoyed the town itself, we walked down threw the town, got pizza because the dinning area was set up for romance, not kids but over all very nice and upgraded.” Aug 27, 2008 by
Stephanie from Du Bois, PA
“This is the worst "3 Star" hotel i have ever encountered. I called to explain that i was traveling with small children with special needs and was assured connecting non-smoking rooms. I got non-connecting, smoking rooms. they were grungy. There was a smell of rotting garbage in the hall. Everything was old and shabby. I found ants in my bed. We could not get out of there fast enough in the morning and would never stay there again.” Aug 26, 2008 by
Irv from Bayside, NY
“The BEST in York, PA.” Aug 25, 2008 by
Robert from Oakdale, PA
“Very nice restored hotel in Downtown New York. Very clean and with nice size rooms, very nice furnishings, very nice staff.” Aug 25, 2008 by
Ron from Sayre, PA
“Even though we had a do not disturb sign on the door, the maid would knock on the door every morning. The hotel was very noisy and you could hear the other guests talking in your room from other rooms.” Aug 24, 2008 by
Andrew from Reading, PA
“Overall ok, not impressed with the noise of doors shutting in the hall or noise from the neighboring room after midnight.” Aug 23, 2008 by
Toby from Passaic, NJ
“This hotel was disgusting. The lobby smelt, was dimly lit. The shower was broken, the rooms were dirty. I heard constant banging throughout the night. The hotel was badly renovated. Very smelly and depressing. This was probably one of my worst hotels stay.” Aug 23, 2008 by
Colleen from Mclean, VA
“Nice hotel for those who enjoy an historic hotel, in a central Business District. Will be an even better visit when they finish updating/renovating the hotel.” Aug 18, 2008 by
V from Baltimore, MD
“The entrance of the hotel and lobby were fine, although it was smelly when you walked in the door. The carpeting in the hallway was filthy dirty. The room smelled like a thousand body odors mixed together and the carpet was very dirty in the room the wallpaper appeared as if it was lifting in the seams and needed to be replaced. I was actually scared to take a shower because the bathroom looked dingy and had dull lighting.” Aug 11, 2008 by
Joe from Wilmington, NC
“Needs a lot more work in bathroom. Way to small in every respect AC didn't work. Lousy view of brick wall. Understaffed in parking lot. Had to wait 10 minutes in street before the one attendant could move cars. In no way do they deserve a good rating.” Aug 4, 2008 by
John from Green Cove Springs, FL
“The staff was friendly, the hotel was old it was what appeared to me to be in the hood. The food was good. The bed was squeaky and I killed a big roach. When I challenge them they dropped the extra charges.” Aug 2, 2008 by
Scott from Franklin, GA
“When we arrived, parking was a little awkward to find and they only have valet parking. The staff was great and super friendly. The hotel is a beautiful older hotel with a lot of character. It was great for us. Would not recommend walking around the area as we did not feel safe. However inside the hotel we did feel secure and with the really great services provided there is no need to leave the property. Overall this was a great night in an older gem that sort of takes you back in time the staff was exceptional we would definitely stay here again.” Jul 29, 2008 by
Ann from Silver Spring, MD
“Old timely feel with upgraded technology and all of the luxuries of present day life. Really cool hotel but a little weird getting to it (you have to go around the block and through an alley). Hotel parking is all valet.” Jul 22, 2008 by
Jane from Maine, NY
“Old. I know. Historical. Still old. Needed new carpet, filthy. When you walked on it your feet or sox got black. No pool & kids and no pool, never again.” Jul 22, 2008 by
Amber from Beavercreek, OH
“Over all the hotel was lovely and the staff was very helpful. However there were motorcycles drag racing in front of the hotel until at least midnight and there was a door adjoining the room next to us, where there were small children that began running around and squealing loudly at 6 AM, so not a lot of sleep was gotten. My husband said the mattresses were as old as the hotel and the room was either hot or cold and very loud depending on whether the air was running or not.” Jul 17, 2008 by
Carl from Cincinnati, OH
“Old restored hotel. We were on the top floor and the street noise was still loud. Super expensive restaurants. 3 people had to share a king bed due to lack of two queen bed rooms and $10 per night for a roll away bed. Rooms are small. Staff was very friendly and helpful.” Jul 17, 2008 by
Nancy from Temperance, MI
“The staff was pleasant and helpful. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable. The restaurant was quite pricey and out of 5 meal choices including hamburger!” Jul 17, 2008 by
Elsa from Mount Laurel, NJ
“The hotel was better than expected. The cleanliness of the room was good. The pillows were hard to sleep on, the restaurant in the hotel was excellent and the prices were ok. The streets around the hotel were deserted and didn't feel safe to walk around. The hotel didn't have a pool which was a big disappointment to my kids. Overall it was a pleasant experience.” Jul 16, 2008 by
Nancy from St Augustine, FL
“When we first arrived, we were placed in the wrong room, on the 5th floor, with just a king size bed. Traveling with 3 adults and 3 children that would not work. Not to mention that the windows in the room actually opened up! I can't imagine sleeping well in a room where my 2 year old can open the window and fall out. When all this was brought to the attention of the hotel staff, they immediately switched our room to the 3rd floor, the most convenient, with the business center, laundry room and ice machine all on that level. From that moment on, the staff made sure we were comfortable and happy. Checking in and out was very easy, and the valet parking was only slightly inconvenient. Once the vehicle was parked, we had no access to it unless they drove it back down.” Jul 12, 2008 by
Eva from Islip, NY
“The Yorktown was charming and the staff was wonderful. I would have recommended this hotel to friends and family.” Jul 12, 2008 by
Paul from Cedar Park, TX
“This hotel is located in the heart of historic York, PA. The rooms are spacious and provide wireless and "hard-wire" internet access. Hotel is conveniently situated between Gettysburg, Hershey and the charming Dutch Amish country. Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, the Yorktown can provide a pleasant place to stay and whatever amenities you might require.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Donald from Yorktown, VA
“I would rate our stay less than one star. We had roach bugs that measured about 1.5 inches and were very aggressive. There was a beer bottle behind the nightstand. The room was overall very dirty, dusty and had a bad musky dirty smell. Also the carpet had very many stains on it and was very old and worn out. There was a lot of dust under the beds and you didn't have to look for it. Lights were not working and so on and on. They did offer us free breakfast, but we didn't to eat there because of the roach bugs. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody for any reason.” Jul 8, 2008 by
William from Greensboro, NC
“Very nice to be an old hotel was pleased with the stay.” Jul 8, 2008 by
Stephen from Syracuse, NY
“The Yorktown is a beautiful historic hotel (the only one left) with incredibly clean rooms, outstanding eateries and an incredibly courteous staff. It is definitely worth the price.” Jul 7, 2008 by
Paul from West Corners, NY
“It was a nice hotel for a romantic get away. The atmosphere and history of people who had stayed was impressive. I was not expecting the extra charges for parking and valet services.” Jul 2, 2008 by
Glenn from Germantown, MD
“Overall not a bad place, but by no means a 3 star hotel. Its a little tired and the inside rooms only have views of rooftop, Floor was un level. Parking late at night at the hotel was not friendly. Just a tired old down town hotel.”
