“Management needs to step up to the plate because they have really dropped the ball on this hotel. This is not a 3 star Hotel. It is a 1 to 2 star Hotel.”

- Location is quite good.
- There was paint smell in the rooms and alleyways. I switched 3 rooms, all had smell.
“I like the hotel for its location. However, as they say there is no free lunch. Despite changing three rooms, all of them I was shown had strong paint smell in the room and alleyway. I had trouble getting proper sleep. I would be cautious in.”

- The staff is excellent and the lobby is beautiful.
- Some of the older rooms you get if you pay a low price are really ucky.
“If you can get one of the newer rooms it is great. They are renovating the hotel. Some rooms are very outdated. This time I asked for a better room than before- it was great. On the 9th floor, special lounge area for guest staying on the 8th & 9th floors. This stay was 100% better than before.”

- Construction zone, water shut off in room during part of stay.
“The hotel is under renovation construction. Parking lot a mess, construction began at 7:00 AM above my room, during stay at 4:15 PM the water was off in the room and was off prior to maid service, called front desk without immediate response to issue. Smoke free hotel however 2 guests were smoking inside side entrance when I returned later in the evening. Water was on but still complained to front desk again since there was not a notification or response to complaint. Manager then became involved and handled situations properly. Received a call from her once I returned home to personally apologize for the unpleasant stay. Hotel is in great location although difficult to find at first, would stay again after construction is completed due to the managerial staff.”

- The staff was very friendly from start to finish. The ambience was peaceful and the lake view and surrounding restaurants are very nice.
- Initially hard to find and GPS doesn't recognize location.

- Friendly staff and beautiful location on the lake.
- We stayed on the 2nd floor and it was sort of a confusing trek to our room. Also, you could hear noise from upstairs and other rooms.
“Great location, right in the heart of Columbia. Easy access to dining, main highways, and entertainment. Friendly staff and spacious rooms. No hassle parking; you can park right in the parking deck (which always had many available spaces close to the hotel entrance) and no parking pass/permit required! Makes for easy come-and-go.”

- The overall outside appearance was nice.
- The room had spider webs all over and the bed was horrible.

- Room in poor condition, sub par cleaning service, unhelpful guest services.
“Both of the 2 rooms we had (on two different floors) were nearly identical in dis repair. They were musty with peeling wallpaper, tattered furnishings, and rusty fixtures in a very shabby bathroom. The cleaning staff ignored full wastebaskets, forgot to replace towels on two nights, and did not change sheets despite being asked to. This hotel should be removed as an option for this zone, or at the very least demoted in star level.”

- The guest relations rep gave us a nice room to compensate for the very poor room originally assigned to us.
- The room originally assigned to us had old, stained carpet and bedspread; the chair was torn in two places.
“I would not recommend this hotel. While the staff person who handled my complaint was extremely accommodating, I was originally given a room that was completely unacceptable by any standards. It was dirty, with stained furniture, carpeting, and bedspread and had a torn chair. The room number was on a piece of paper taped to the wall outside the door. Carpeting in the hallway was dirty and an old, abandoned piece of furniture sat at the top of the stair landing on my floor. I was very disappointed. However, the guest services representative completely understood and gave my husband and me an upgrade that was more in keeping with what I had expected from the Sheraton. I would not visit again, though. I ended up getting sick from the mold and mildew in the lovely looking room and had to go home early. This was my first time insisting on a room change in a hotel.”

“They put us in a room that was a mile away from anything. To get there we had to wind through many corridors and then up a flight of stairs. Very inconvenient and not a good idea for seniors or families with young children. I complained and eventually got moved to an available room at the front of the hotel, near an elevator.”

- In separate buildings not very well marked and not handicap accessible at all.
“The hotel was in an excellent condition, clean etc. The only problem was is that it was not handicap accessible (or at least the way I expect a hotel to be) the rooms were in separate buildings not very well marked thus adding to the handicap problem with the inability to walk an extended time. The girl at the front desk made no effort to explain where the room was or how to get there. All I got was go to building which ended up easier reaching from the building neither of which could be determined except from a small unlit letter above the entrance door. Room was excellent except for the "Get to the room" experience.”

“Great location in the Columbia, MD area. Close to major business, dining and entertainment. This is an older hotel so the rooms reflect a lot of wear and tear. Heating and air conditioning unit is one of those window types with now modern controls so you can't regulate the room temp. To a specific degree of comfort. Overall this is a good hotel for the price I paid. I would rate it at 2.5 stars not 3.0 though.”

- Lobby/Registration was clean, well-lit, and friendly.
- One wing of rooms required stairs (no elevator) and hard to access with luggage and heart condition.
“This hotel was not easy to locate, tucked behind a parking garage on a one-way loop. The conference center cleverly disguised the "ground level" rooms. Upon further investigation, those rooms were only accessible via a narrow half-set of stairs (no elevator access). Lugging bags up and down these stairs was not easy, no practical for someone with a heart condition. Hotel staff directed "guests" (armed only with verbal directions) toward the corridor which wrapped around numerous conference rooms with no signage until they eventually discovered the stairs. The room was clean, however, extremely remote from the hotel main lobby and lounge area. My initial reaction upon arrival was that I was getting a steal of a deal. I ended up one very disappointed customer.”

- Quiet rooms.
- Distance from Baltimore.
“Hotel was an older building. It is located on a lake with lovely walking paths through a treed area. Our room were well-appointed and the bed were comfortable. Although it was on an atrium area, we heard no noise from the lobby area. The furniture in the lounge, however, would have been rejected by Salvation Army - quite worn and shabby. That room was too small to accommodate the weekend crowd. On the first day, our bed was partially made and wash clothes were missing. We had to call for additional service. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay.”

- Nothing.
- Rodents in room. Noisy drunks in hallway at 2:30 AM.
“Hotel is considerably older than most in the area. Too many parties for the average traveler to get any rest. The complaints told to the front desk were fruitless as they said we were booked by another party. ”

- Staff that helped me was very helpful.
- My room was not very clean.
“I would have been pleased with the stay had my sheets appeared clean. There were used towels left soaking in the tub; and there was dust on commonly used items like the desk, lamps, etc--which made me wonder how often housekeeping cleaned. It was unacceptable.”
