“Hotel charges $12.95/night for internet service. My wife was with me on this trip and had her Mac. She was unhappy because they wanted another $12.95/night for her to have access. Despite the fact that the Fox News channel has more viewers than all the other so-called news channels combined, this hotel seems to want to insist on providing only the state-sponsored so-called news channels like MSNBC,CNN, and HLN. We find this offensive and un-friendly to business.” Sep 20, 2009 by
E from Lake Placid,FL
“Hotel is not a good choice for business travel. $12.95 per night charge for in-room Internet access. The room assigned was about a 400 hundred yard walk from the lobby. The selection of TV channels was the worst I have seen anywhere. Very few channels and to have only the left wing channels such as MSNBC, CNN and NBC and not have the Fox News Channel or the Fox Financial Channel.” Aug 9, 2009 by
Robert from Grovetown,GA “Recently upgraded and remodeled. Staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. I will definitely come back.” Jul 17, 2009 by
Mark from Plano,TX
“1) No pad and paper next to phone in room for messages. Had to call Housekeeping... arrived 1 hours later.2) Telephone un-operational. Took 2 hours for fix.3) Desk telephone missing face plate... I did not know what buttons meant what. Took 1 hour to replace. (beyond 2 hours as noted above)4) Room layout wrong. I am in a handicapped room, but they placed the armoire in a location where I can not access nor open it. 5) For $160 a night... I expect glasses... not (cheap) plastic cups to drink from.6) Breakfast: Asked for buttered toast. Got toast, no butter, and butter was on ice... rock hard, Toast too cool.7) Internet is $12.95 per 24 hours. ??? Motel-6 is free!!! PUH-LEASE!8) No Fox News on TV... I am going through withrawl pangs.9) Bathtub is rusty.... Give me a break! I would prefer the Bates Motel!10) Room service "forgot" my breakfast.11) The maid changes my radio (daily) to a hispanic station. PLEASE!!!! Is ths for his/her entertainemnt, or my use?12) Room Service required 5 phone calls to get the hanging breakfast card for my door... then.. (see #10). They have now removed all hanging cards from my room. Apparently, one MUST call room serivce in the morning... one can not order "in advance" the night before.13) Yesterday's tray is still here... 27 hours later!!14) People who phoned me were placed diredctly into voice-mail... even though I was here in my room. Therefore I was unaware they called until I noticed the message light. ;-(15) Telephone system is completely down... I can not make nor recieve calls.... Can not tell when it will be up.16) Main desk is 1/4 mile from here... I am NOT walking over to ask about the phone system. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Jul 17, 2009 by

“Overall it was a nice hotel and well located, Parking was free and convenient, but internet access was not. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean, but we were just passing through so did not take advantage of much.” Jun 24, 2009 by
Jim from Apex,NC
“I was very disappointed with the hotel. My room was a great distance from the main desk and in what appeared to be old apartments that had been converted to rooms. The room appointments were average but the hallway was extremely noisy along with some machinery in a common area just a few feet down the hall. The ice machine never had any ice. The toilet usually did not flush on the first attempt. In addition, the day staff was cold and most unhelpful to a guest who arrived armed with my name and room number. I would not want to stay at the Columbia Sheraton again.” Jun 8, 2009 by
Tim from Wappingers Falls,NY
“Believe hotel is in process of updating, some things were new and in good condition, others were not. Some updating could have been better done, but overall the hotel was nice, staff was very helpful. very nice setting, and got a great price on room through priceline.” Apr 30, 2009 by
Beth from Chambersburg,PA
“The room was clean and comfortable. However, I was in a handicapped room, and the way the floor is sloped caused water to run everywhere, which was inconvenient. Also, there were a lot of disturbances coming from the lobby at night. There were people down there drinking and talking, and all of the noise carried up to my room, as late as 3AM. I complained repeatedly to the front desk and nothing was done. I would not stay in this hotel again unless that problem is fixed.” Jan 26, 2009 by
Stafford from Carrollton,TX
“The hotel was conveniently located and newly renovated. The room was very comfortable and I thoroughly enjoyed the Wi-Fi. I would stay here in the future without hesitation.” Nov 12, 2008 by
Melanie from North Huntingdon,PA
“When we entered the room, the heat was on and it felt like a sauna. We had a difficult time controlling the temperature in the room. The sheets and blankets on the bed were stiff and hard. On both nights the people in the room next to us, were extremely loud and we had to turn on the TV to block them out.” Nov 4, 2008 by
Lisa
“We were extremely impressed with this hotel. The decor was pleasant and the bed was so comfortable!” Sep 10, 2008 by
Sherie from Jacksonville Beach, FL
“This hotel is under going renovations and is a complete mess on the outside and the inside. Workmen are allowed to wander around inside the hotel, which makes for an unsafe environment. Thank goodness the hotel staff was very friendly. I would not stay at this hotel again, until the renovations are complete, which should be in March, 2009, according to the Manager.” Sep 1, 2008 by
Jayne from Vancouver, WA
“The hotel was undergoing a face-lift reconstruction, but my room had been recently remodeled and was very comfortable.” Aug 28, 2008 by
Ron from East Meadow, NY
“Nice looking hotel. They should not put guests in rooms near where they are doing renovations. The construction vehicles arrived and the dumpster was removed at 5:45 in the morning which really ruined my stay. The walls are thin and you can hear everything that goes on in the hallways and surrounding rooms. Bring earplugs.” Aug 22, 2008 by
Mark from Hayward, CA
“I'll definitely try to stay at this hotel again. I can see with the planned and on-going remodel, it will be a nice place to stay.” Aug 17, 2008 by
John from Denver, CO
“I would avoid this hotel until their renovation in 100% complete.” Aug 1, 2008 by
Elicia from Birmingham, AL
“Very nice staff. We knew of only one route to our room. There were functions taking place that we often were trampling through to get to our room. We found another route the last day of our stay. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Heather from Elkins, WV
“Overall a great stay at a good price, it suited our needs just fine and the free parking in a covered parking garage was a plus.” Jul 29, 2008 by
Gary from Silver Spring, MD
“It's conveniently located in Columbia near route 29 and a large mall. I stayed in it while visiting my daughter and the rooms are very nice. They were renovating so the landscape and ambiance in the building where I stayed was very disrupted; however, that is hopefully a temporary situation and will be finished soon.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Michael from Waco, TX
“The hotel was nice in the public areas, and the restaurant was one of the highlights. My room was a quarter mile from the lobby, but when I finally found parking closer it was fine. The problems were that the room was not cleaned and stocked well. There was old shampoo and soap in the shower when I arrived - that's disgusting. And there was one not-quite-full roll of toilet paper. The second day, the toilet paper (now mostly gone) was not replaced and there was not another roll in the room. If the front desk was closer or if I weren't so lazy, I'd have complained.” Jul 27, 2008 by
Robert from East Brunswick, NJ
“There is a large scale renovation going at the hotel and noise and smell is a major distraction. Even after staying in renovated room it's easy to see that it is an old, tired property. Front desk is doing a great job, but housekeeping service is really bad, noisy and cuts corners. Two star property that pretends to be better. $12.95 a day for internet? Shame! Bad idea!” Jul 18, 2008 by
Patrick from Oakville, ON CA
“Atypically Sheraton in that there were large sections of the hotel that were motel-like (where we were put) as opposed to the general skyscraper style of hotel. There was construction going on at the time. As a result of the sprawling nature of the hotel, we were far away from the lobby area.” Jul 3, 2008 by
Howard from Martinsburg, WV
“Clean, convenient, but billing error caused unfavorable visit.” Jun 29, 2008 by
Bruce from Lynchburg, VA
“My three night stay was cut to one night.” May 28, 2008 by
Terry from Meridian, MS
“Very nice.” Apr 22, 2008 by
Danielle from Baldwin, MD
“Hotel was very nice, though room service seemed anxious to get in the room on the date of our departure and tried to come in three times even before the check-out time!” Apr 21, 2008 by
Mary from Ann Arbor, MI
“Convenient location with very helpful staff. Undergoing renovations at the moment, but room was nice inside. Modern furniture (with the exception of the random white fridge on the floor in the corner).” Apr 16, 2008 by
Margaret from Richmond, VA
“I was pleasantly surprised with the looks of the hotel upon arrival, but then it was supposed to be a renovated room. Upon further looking, the room lacked lighting, was very dim, the bathroom fixtures had rust on them, the toilet was old and scratched, and best of all, and the front door did not lock properly. All you needed to do to get it was give it a slight push, and the door opened without a key. The staff put us on hold for over 20 minutes when we called to get a new room, promised help within 10 minutes. After 30 minutes and 2 more calls, I finally got the manager who did get help up ASAP. After 20 minutes, the maintenance man was getting frustrated as we were also, so another call to the manager finally resulted in a room change at the same time as they fixed the door. She did compensate us with free breakfast buffet tickets for both days, which was ok overall. I don't believe we would stay there again anytime soon due to the construction going on with nails and trailers all over the parking lot.” Apr 11, 2008 by
Keith from Charlottesville, VA
“The hotel is going through a $12 million renovation right now so it is rough in some areas. When renovation is complete it should be very good.” Apr 9, 2008 by
Evelyn from Summerville, SC
“Pretty good. This was the first visit to the Sheraton. They are comparable.” Apr 8, 2008 by
Barry from Chapel Hill, NC
“We were sent to our room walking a long distance through various corridors only to find the room was not ready for occupancy and it did not overlook the lake as promised, but rather a parking lot. Also, we asked directions to the fitness center and took a long walk there only to find it was under renovation and unusable.” Apr 8, 2008 by
Anne from Valley City, OH
“The room was in bad condition, shabby-holes in carpet and furniture. Super soft mattress and pillows. Some mold in bathroom. The lobby was beautiful. Free parking. Lovely view of the lake from the room.” Apr 7, 2008 by
Blank from Haddonfield, NJ
“Management needs to step up to the plate because they have really dropped the ball on this hotel. This is not a 3 star Hotel. It is a 1 to 2 star Hotel.” Apr 7, 2008 by
N from Frederick, MD
“I like the hotel for its location. However, as they say there is no free lunch. Despite changing three rooms, all of them I was shown had strong paint smell in the room and alleyway. I had trouble getting proper sleep. I would be cautious in.” Apr 5, 2008 by
Paula from Blandford, MA
“Excellent hotel, well appointed rooms, courteous and helpful staff, and rooms well insulated so no noise, beautiful restaurant on the banks of the lake.” Mar 28, 2008 by
Catherine from Ellicott City, MD
“The location of hotel is pretty convenient; it's closed to main highway, shopping mall and airport.” Mar 24, 2008 by
Patricia from Halethorpe, MD
“If you can get one of the newer rooms it is great. They are renovating the hotel. Some rooms are very outdated. This time I asked for a better room than before- it was great. On the 9th floor, special lounge area for guest staying on the 8th & 9th floors. This stay was 100% better than before.” Mar 6, 2008 by
Rose from Hockessin, DE
“Newly renovated room that was very nice and clean. Enjoyed the stay.” Mar 5, 2008 by
Kathleen from Severn, MD
“Nice to be by the water and the rest of the scenery was nice too! The staff was professional. We would have preferred to use the business center, but it cost extra. Overall, nice hotel.” Mar 3, 2008 by
Joe from Owings Mills, MD
“Decent hotel.” Mar 3, 2008 by
Laura from Smyrna, TN
“The hotel is under renovation construction. Parking lot a mess, construction began at 7:00 AM above my room, during stay at 4:15 PM the water was off in the room and was off prior to maid service, called front desk without immediate response to issue. Smoke free hotel however 2 guests were smoking inside side entrance when I returned later in the evening. Water was on but still complained to front desk again since there was not a notification or response to complaint. Manager then became involved and handled situations properly. Received a call from her once I returned home to personally apologize for the unpleasant stay. Hotel is in great location although difficult to find at first, would stay again after construction is completed due to the managerial staff.” Feb 28, 2008 by
Carmen from Reading, PA
“Just very nice in general. First time I have used this location. Next to lots of fun stuff, highly recommend it especially the staff was excellent on all shifts.” Feb 25, 2008 by
Laura from Wilmington, NC
“Great location, right in the heart of Columbia. Easy access to dining, main highways, and entertainment. Friendly staff and spacious rooms. No hassle parking; you can park right in the parking deck (which always had many available spaces close to the hotel entrance) and no parking pass/permit required! Makes for easy come-and-go.” Feb 22, 2008 by
Pj from Halethorpe, MD
“The staff was very cordial, and the lobby inviting. I was disappointed when I got to the room. The bathroom was clean & well-kept. I did like the extra sink as a wet bar. The carpeting showed signs of wear and the room in general needed a complete renovation. The hotel entrance as 1st impression was great- the room was a letdown.” Feb 19, 2008 by
Shirin from Washington, DC
“It was very relaxing, great scenery, and decor. Walking distance to a lake, a great restaurant, and mall.” Feb 12, 2008 by
Laura from Fredericksburg, VA
“Beautiful and close to shopping, the Columbia Sheraton provided a quiet, affordable stay for my small family after the hustle and bustle of an evening in Baltimore. The staff was friendly, the facilities elegant and our stay restful and secure. We were treated like class A customers at a more satisfying price so we left feeling good on all accounts.” Feb 11, 2008 by
Connie from Austin, TX
“Location was very convenient for me and parking is free. Service was competent and friendly, esp. in restaurant. Hotel is laid out in a very confusing and difficult to negotiate fashion. Spent a lot of time being lost. Decor is tired, but noticed some wings are being renovated.” Jan 21, 2008 by
Paul from Chester, VA
“Hotel was nice, location was good; however, Bathrooms didn't work properly.” Dec 31, 2007 by
Mr. W. from Taneytown, MD
“Pleasant people at the front desk. The restaurant downstairs from the main entrance is too costly for the food and amount that is served. If the rooms, hallways, workout room and beds were replaced with new decor/beds it would make the hotel a lot better.” Dec 16, 2007 by
Tom from Williamsburg, VA
“Met 3 start standards. Friendly staff. Clean. Excellent room facilities / space. Superior high speed wifi in room. No problem getting connected; instructions on desk were adequate; help was available via phone.”
