“This is a very good hotel for Harrisburg, PA business travel.” Nov 18, 2007 by
Kent from Independence, OH
“High end brand low end quality the soap dish in my shower was held up by yellow caution tape.” Oct 16, 2007 by
Dan from Arlington, VA
“Great location, clean, great staff, rooms are modest in size. Good value.” Oct 11, 2007 by
Kathy from Mattituck, NY
“Just before our stay, the hotel started a mandatory policy of valet parking at $18/night for hotel guests. This is excessive. Our room was nice but clearly in need of some repair. It seems the hotel believed so too as on second day of our stay. We returned to find all the rooms on our floor open and renovations ongoing. You would think they could have placed us on another floor rather than have it just be us, the workman and the noise and dust. Finally, the indoor pool is not heated. I mentioned this to the front desk at checkout and they said it wasnt supposed to be heated. The pool area was very nice shame no none could use it. With renovations done, the pool heated, and a reduced parking fee, this would be a very nice place to stay.” Sep 12, 2007 by
Teresa from Galloway, NJ
“We had to transfer from the first room due to an ant problem. The ceiling had water stains, the sheets were stained, wall paper peeling in the bathroom and the shower curtain was barely attached to the wall; more or less dangling loosing on one loose screw. The second room's lamps and clock was unplugged and was missing the remote control. These are minor, but quality issues that should be addressed.” Sep 8, 2007 by
Jr from Barberton, OH
“Wife has asthma and staff wouldn't help us get into a smoke-free room. They were cold and heartless about it and it really frustrated us. On the other hand, the parking/valet staff was outstanding! Kudos to the boys!” Sep 7, 2007 by
Francisco from Rosamond, CA
“This hotel is situated just a few blocks from the State Capitol and is wonderfully accommodating. Its staff is courteous and hard working. I would not hesitate to stay there again.” Sep 6, 2007 by
Juanita from Baltimore, MD
“The room I had for 4 people was very small. The bathroom was extremely small. It wasn't the best hotel and certainly not the worst.” Sep 3, 2007 by
Gail from Margate, FL
“The restaurant is dreary and too dark, the service is unfriendly, slow and the cost is too high. The room was fairly clean, but the fixtures, ceiling and walls were dirty. The rug was filthy. We needed to re-wash our feet before putting on shoes. Not being able to get refreshments from the machines was upsetting, especially after being outside all day in the sun.” Aug 28, 2007 by
Paulla from Clayton, NC
“If you are expecting a 3 star or above hotel you will be very disappointed. The room was tiny, there were no non smoking rooms available and it smelled really bad. The shower tile was moldy and the ceiling tiles were water damaged. You had to pay extra for parking” Aug 26, 2007 by
Rick from Manchester, NH
“Hotel staff had us park in front of entrance while checking in. Two other customers complained and even cursed at us for blocking the way. Had $8 per night charge to park on street. Very unhappy with entire experience. Will never use that hotel again.” Aug 25, 2007 by
Stuart B. from Plainview, NY
“This is a good 2 star hotel that tries to be a 3 star hotel. The lobby is nice, the room has some of the things you'd see in a nicer hotel, but the rooms were small, the bathroom was tiny (with an industrial bathroom you'd see in a public restroom). Not a 3 star hotel.” Aug 23, 2007 by
Jennifer from Maple Shade, NJ
“I was disappointed. Our room was not cleaned one day. We were charged $24 in parking fees and had no space in our room after we had the rollaway bed delivered for our two girls to share. Definitely not what I am used to with a 3-star hotel.” Aug 23, 2007 by
Chris from Quincy, MA
“This hotel is in a great location for those traveling to Harrisburg on business or vacation. The state capital is within walking distance and Hershey Park is a 10 minute drive. The staff is friendly and courteous. The rooms are a good value for the area.” Aug 22, 2007 by
Carmen from Wethersfield, CT
“The hotel is very nice and elegant and we did enjoy are stay and the kids enjoyed the pool.” Aug 21, 2007 by
Rich from New Hampton, NH
“Older hotel needs updating in the bath rooms. Also needs more ice and soda machines as these were not working. The room was a little small for room service for three people and they did not provide a cart to rest the plates.” Aug 21, 2007 by
Ron from Latrobe, PA
“Ok for a very short stay but noticed corners of room not cleaned. Bathroom is tiny and the rooms are small. Not a total debacle but there must be better out there for the price.” Aug 20, 2007 by
Reese from Doylestown, PA
“The ceiling of the room was caving in from a water leak. The bathroom was disgusting, hairs all over and mold in some of the shower tiles. The parking situation in their garage is a joke. They must only be able to hold 15 cars. I would not stay here again.” Aug 20, 2007 by
Sue from Hackettstown, NJ
“Parking was terrible. Paying customer of the hotel should not have to pay for parking. On top of it they had us park across the street no help what so ever.” Aug 20, 2007 by
Paul from West Liberty, KY
“Overall, a very nice hotel. Recently renovated. Beautiful lobby. Stayed here while visiting Hershey (about 20 minutes drive). Pool facilities could have been nicer (with Jacuzzi, sauna), and bigger. Room was small, but decor was great. Very clean. A great business or leisure hotel for businessmen/women or families.” Aug 19, 2007 by
Kellie from Fwb, FL
“We were very pleased with the hotel, it was first class. The beds were excellent and the showers were too. The staff was nice and accommodating.” Aug 19, 2007 by
Christina from Shelton, CT
“Location was a bit far for Hershey, which is where we were going, but still doable.” Aug 19, 2007 by
Helen from Valley Stream, NM
“The room was disgustingly dirty. The bathroom floors, tiles, sink and carpet were not cleaned. There was visible dust on the carpets, mirrors, corners and closet. There was scum on the shower curtain, tiles, underneath the sink and on the hair dryer. There was gum underneath the desk and the spinning chair was filthy and scummy. Towels were not replenished on our second night although a call to the front desk fixed that. No wash cloths were provided. Parking was a joke. When we returned in the evening, we were yelled at to park across the St. The attendant opened the gates and closed them before we got out of the car. My kids were petrified we were locked in the garage for the night. The attendant also did not inform us to get the ticket validated. Upon departure the next morning, we had to get out and run across the street to get the parking ticket validated in order to avoid the $18 charge! On our second night, our card keys did not work. No apology from the desk for the inconvenience! We will never stay here again.” Aug 19, 2007 by
Vinny from Stamford, CT
“This hotel is great for the business traveler who needs to be near the capital and government buildings. Plenty of parking and nightlife within 4 short blocks costing only a 10-15 minute ride to the park each way).” Aug 18, 2007 by
Lindsay from Hull, MA
“Room was clean and tidy. Loved the free internet! Really made our trip so much easier knowing that we could get any information we needed off the internet for nothing! Great pool, too!” Aug 18, 2007 by
Todd from Kensington, CT
“Not what I expected from a Crowne Plaza. Hotel seemed dirty. Pool area not kept very well.” Aug 16, 2007 by
Shelley from Bridgewater, VA
“We went to Harrisburg for our anniversary. The staff went the extra mile to make our stay great. I called the hotel before we arrived and asked them if they could do anything special for our anniversary. They seemed more then happy to accommodate my request. When we arrived, they had put a bottle of Champaign in our room along with tasty chocolate covered strawberries. My husband was surprised! The room itself was very comfortable. The hotel was in walking distance to many restaurants and one of the hotel staff gave us a great suggestion for a nice dinner out. (Cafe Fresco's) Hershey Park was very easy to get to and the hotel provided directions to us as well. I had read the reviews of this hotel before we left and if you drive a SUV the other reviews are right in that the parking under the hotel is very tight. We did not have a problem as we were driving a car. .” Aug 15, 2007 by
Tracey from Forest Hill, MD
“There were many big spiders in the room; they did not have enough parking. They offered to park our brand new car "somewhere around the corner on an open lot" and left it running and unlocked blocking a lane in the street for over 20 minutes. Anyone could have stolen it. Many other guests were complaining of the same thing, including spiders, ants, dirty rooms, etc. We are supposed to be refunded our 2nd night because we left after seeing our car sit there so long unattended.” Aug 15, 2007 by
Tom from Sussex, NJ
“The hotel was very nice and convenient for us. The Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff could use some polish and had to look for and wait for valet service any time we needed our car. Room had a coffee maker, but no coffee. The room needs some work. The air conditioner is very loud, one lamp shade was broken and the room had an odor. Finally, there were no towels available at the pool area. The hotel could be a lot sharper if there was more attention to detail.” Aug 13, 2007 by
Jennifer from Baldwin, NY
“The Crowne Plaza Harrisburg is a nice-looking hotel. It is very clean and has a beautiful lobby. Upon arrival that evening the valet was no where in sight and we had to go in to the front desk to have him paged so we could park our car. The second night, we were sent to a garage across the street where the valet came speeding through the ramps while my family was walking to the elevators. When we returned the following morning to depart, we had to wait 15 minutes for the valet to come to the garage to open the gates for us to leave. When I buzzed the intercom I was treated to a very obnoxious woman who said "he will get there; when he gets there, you need to sit and wait" and then she hung up her phone. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone I know. Last time I checked a three star hotel came with more than a room with a bed. We were very disappointed.” Aug 13, 2007 by
Ray from Royersford, PA
“Overall, it was a very nice hotel. I would stay there again.” Aug 13, 2007 by
Nancy from Salt Lake City, UT
“We had three adults in our group. We were given a room with 1 bed and the hotel was full that night so they couldn't change us. We asked for a roll-away which they ordered for us. After several hours and not receiving it we asked them again and they said they had run out of them. They were kind enough to put one of us in another single bed room at no extra charge. The next day they were able to move us to a two bed room. I also left my camera in the business center. It was a bit of a hassle trying to see if it had been put in the lost and found. After about 12 hours I was able to get it back, which was a great relief. The staff was kind and helpful in taking care of the several problems we encountered.” Aug 12, 2007 by
Lori from St. Thomas, ON CA
“This hotel was a huge disappointment & didn't deserve the 3 star rating. The washroom was incredibly small & most rooms had only 1 bed. Everything had finger print marks on it, the carpet was disgusting, and the parking lot had spaces made for a smart car only. The pool itself was nice & warm, but the area surrounding the pool was filthy. Basically, the whole place needed a 'clean sweep!'” Aug 12, 2007 by
Granville from Hartsburg, MO
“Room was tiny, toilet scrunched up against wall, flies in restaurant, food was not very good, parking across the street was a problem because bell clerk had to walk over and open garage door.” Aug 4, 2007 by
Sara from Spring Valley, NY
“Hotel met our expectations as far as comfort of the room and quality of service. However, the area was not conducive to vacation - too busy and traffic jammed.” Aug 4, 2007 by
Michele from Oak Ridge, NJ
“The hotel room we had definitely needs to be upgraded. Bathroom was outdated, carpet should be replaced, door to hotel room was difficult to open. One light did not work, no remote for the TV. I passed this on when we checked out.” Aug 4, 2007 by
David from Barrington, RI
“We thought the room was very reasonable for the price and despite a number of very poor reviews we found that as long as you don't have too lofty expectations, you will be satisfied. While the parking was tight, when the lot was full, they kindly let us park across the way in the public lot.” Aug 4, 2007 by
Andrew from Wellington AU
“All staff encountered was helpful and the facilities were great.” Aug 3, 2007 by
Scott from Schaumburg, IL
“Not a good location. No local restaurants and homeless people surrounded the adjacent streets. Hotel restaurant closed too early (10:00 pm).” Aug 3, 2007 by
Joe from Warrington, PA
“The hotel lobby was beautiful but the furniture was very worn and not attractive to sit on, the parking garage was very tight and confusing.” Aug 3, 2007 by
Mindy from Ellicott City, MD
“They were not very accommodating about my request for non-smoking rooms. I would not stay at this particular hotel again.” Aug 1, 2007 by
Carly from Purcellville, VA
“All good, except for internet connection. It was on and off all the time. I was also charged for parking without using their facility! I rather not have an "upgrade" to a 3-star hotel.” Jul 31, 2007 by
Bobbi from West Berlin, NJ
“Considering the location, I expected a lot nicer. I would have been extremely upset.” Jul 31, 2007 by
Melinda from Nanjemoy, MD
“This hotel is a joke! I paid a lot of money for a king size bed and a pull out couch to accommodate my husband and 2 small children. Instead I got stuck with a cracker box room and 1 queen bed. We had to change rooms twice because of a leak and a Smokey room. The staff wanted to do nothing to help me! All four of us had a miserable, sleepless night cramped in a small bed. I have never had a worse experience at a hotel. I received no refund or any kind of discount.” Jul 31, 2007 by
Cynthia from Depew, NY
“The staff was friendly but weren't knowledgeable of many basic questions. The hotel itself is old and not well maintained. The ceiling tile literally fell into the shower. The parking arrangement with the parking ramp across the street is a disaster. I would not stay at this hotel again or recommend it to anyone else.” Jul 30, 2007 by
Karen from Virginia Beach, VA
“The bathroom was very small and the parking was limited, but everything else was great!” Jul 29, 2007 by
Stacey from Bayonne, NJ
“I do not believe that this should be considered a 3 star hotel. The public spaces were nice. But, the hotel room was not. They came to re-clean the room and after the shower still had the same hair in it after they left. I do not think the shower walls were even wiped down. I also did not like that we were able to open the windows and they did not have guards on them. There was mold on the shower curtain and the shower had used soap and shampoo in it. The room was also very dusty. The air condition unit had paint chips inside it and did not blow out really cold air. The drawers were also dirty inside. I lined the drawer with a hand towel. Also, parking was $8.00 per day and my expedition could not fit in the small garage. I would never stay here again, no matter how much money I could save. The second I got home, I could not wait to shower.” Jul 28, 2007 by
Brian from Rochester, MA
“My family and I really enjoyed staying here. Would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends. The hotel staff did everything they could to make sure we had a pleasant stay. Would come back here again.” Jul 28, 2007 by
Jeff from Mahomet, IL
“This hotel is desperately in need of a makeover. Our room was very small with a water damaged wall, no working phone, broken deadbolt lock, burned out light bulbs, no tub stopper, and only 1 towel for a family of 4. Front desk staff wasn't very helpful or caring either. I was charged $8 for parking, when I parked on the city street all night (hotel rescinded the charge but give me a break - they told me to park on the street!). In my opinion, this was a Motel 6 with an expensive-looking lobby and bellboy. Not recommended to anyone at anytime.” Jul 27, 2007 by
Han from Glen Allen, VA
