  • The hotel is an a great location, near the subway and right down the street from a nice variety of restaurant and the staff is great, nice and friendly
  • The hotel rooms need some work, my bathroom door and window were both not working. The hotel could benefit from some minor renovations to the rooms.

“The hotel is great the staff is nice and friendly, excellent location and the hotel is very clean. The location is wonderful for a great variety of restaurant and eating placing within a very short walk. I had a great stay there. Oh and by the way there is street parking available for free on the weekends.”

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7
Cleanliness:[5] • Staff:[5] • Location:[8]

  • I liked its close proximity to Capitol Hill and other attractions.
  • The high speed Internet advertised on the hotel's website is available in SOME rooms; wireless just in the lobby.

“This hotel is perfect for those traveling to the Hill for business. Close to attractions, Metro stop, and various places to meet and eat. The bathroom floor was dirty and the amount of grime on the blinds on the bathroom window was enough to turn my stomach. You could hear the plumbing from rooms nearby and above me running. Internet access is not made available to in all rooms- HIGHLY inconvenient for those there for business. I had to take my computer and all of my things down to the small, busy lobby to do some work... Hotel staff also seemed rushed. I called down to ask a question about the frequency of cabs near the hotel and the clerk at the desk had hung up the phone before she had answered my question. I also overheard a Member of Congress complaining that the staff had neglected to give him his wake up call that morning... some "system" was down. Worth the $75 I paid- all over not worth the full price others pay.”

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10
Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • Large room, very convenient to Capitol and Mall area.
  • High vehicle parking fee.

“The hotel occupies an older structure that has been remodeled. The room included a queen size bed, a large TV (25"estimate), a full-sized couch, large desk, microwave, small refrigerator, and coffee maker. The furniture was of high quality. An anteroom provided generous space for hanging clothes and storing suitcases in addition to a small closet. The bathroom was modest in size, but well-equipped with instant hot water and plenty of force. Free newspapers (Washington Post, Financial Times) were excellent perks. There were several restaurants in the neighborhood from low to high cost. Being next to the Library of Congress and a short walk to the Capitol and the Mall made the hotel a perfect location for the businessman or tourist.”

Cleanliness:[3] • Staff:[7] • Location:[10]

  • Location, downtown D.C., 2 blocks to Metro.
  • Dirty, no heat, no frills, old drafty windows.

“I feel like I just got scammed and the Capital Hill Suites. ~$300.00 dollars. The room had 2 Q beds and sofa bed... that much was true. The room, however, was dirty, particularly the kitchen and old no frills bathroom. The heat did not work. The strange noises the refrigerator made kept us up at night. The old windows could not be securely locked (and we were on the ground floor), and the "closed" windows had big air gaps. At 6am the next morning, we awoke to bricks being cut and loaded in a pick up truck in the alley next to our room. At 9am, a hotel staff walked into our room unannounced, while were getting dressed. And to top it off, the hotel said they couldn't do anything to satisfy me (e.g. refund, etc).”

“The Capitol Hill Suites is as close to the U.S. Capitol as you can get. It's also just a block from the Metro and walking distance to the Smithsonian and other attractions in D.C. The rooms each have a microwave and refrigerator. My bed was very comfortable. The continental breakfast was quite adequate, though not exceptional. I highly recommend this hotel to people who are visiting Washington D.C. for business or pleasure. I just wish they would include free local telephone calls!”

The sleeper sofa was impossible to sleep on (bent w/terrible mattress), so I had to just sleep in the chair. They said they could not do anything about it - that we would have to get the credit from you. We will be calling to get our credit card adjusted. Otherwise, it was a great location, breakfast, service, etc. If you can let us know about the credit, that would be great.lturlingto@aol.com”

  • The Parking.

“The hotel itself was good. The location to the metro, some eateries, and all the sites. I was extremely disappointed on the parking. Or I should say the lack of. I don't recall being told that there was really no where to park. You have to use valet (28.00 dollars a night) if you want your car there at the hotel. Parking on the street is almost impossible. Have to move it all the time. The air conditioning did not work. Rooms were pretty hot as the temps rose outside. I enjoyed what the room had to offer. The bed was nice, the bathroom was fine, and we had plenty of room to move around. Overall, the hotel stay was great, just bad parking.”

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7
Cleanliness:[6] • Staff:[5] • Location:[8]

  • I liked the location of the hotel, rooms were large.
  • The smell in the elevator, dirty iron, charges for parking.

“This hotel is nice for leisure/business travelers on a budget that would like to stay in the Nation's capital. Very close to landmarks (Smithsonian, Capitol Building, etc....). Nice restaurants/diners and neighborhood pubs around the corner on the same block. The staff was hit and miss. We were booked in a smoking room and I asked during check-in if they had a non-smoking room that was available instead, they did find us a non-smoking room on the first floor that had handicapped facilities (i.e. larger bathroom), however I asked about parking arrangements/charges and the said it was simply valet parking. During checkout I was suprised to find out I was charged $28/day for parking. Thank goodness it was only a two night stay for that reason. The rooms seem larger than most in this hotel class, and the bed is comforting and inviting. Coffee maker and mini fridge are nice. Don't use their irons, they are filty and it ruined one of my shirts, bring your own. There is a tiny stench in the elevator, but that was minor. Overall I would recommend this hotel based on the location, but find a parking lot or garage to save a little more. Happy Travels!”

This could be applied to most hotels but especially this one. Overall a good quality hotel.”

Also, stuff was a little hard to understand, and trying to get directions was impossible. Good thing they had maps available.”
